Wireless devices cannot detect my airport connection on imac

Why can't wireless devices detect my airport connection on imac

Ensure the media share features and USB drive support is enabled on the router after it's connected.

  • Cannot detect the Airport network

Hi: Suddenly my Ti G4 cannot detect the airport basestation as my other computers can. Sometimes the airport signal is detected and after some time it disappears. I've tried to use the airport utilities from this computer and cannot detect the network. I removed the botom cover of my computer, and all connections seems to be OK. Checking the apple system profiler, shows the card installed but no network available. Is there any test to check if the card is broken? Is there something else to check?

Ditto on Henry's advice about swapping cards. My PB was having some intermittent problems with a new AEBS I bought. Then I was in Boston and the PB wireless was flaky. It would have a full signal, then drop instantly to zero, then come right back. Since there was an Apple store within 2 blocks, I went down there to troubleshoot. Interestingly, the Apple Store connection was perfect. But the tech swapped out my card and tested the old one. He said it was "starting" to go bad and suggested I get a new one. I did, and the hotel connection was fine. I sold my old card to another mac guy and it's been working perfectly with his home system.
Now a year later I'm in CA and the hotel wireless was flaky. Exact same symptoms. I had my electronics screwdrivers along (don't ask), so opened the case and checked all connections. Then I drove over to the Burlingame store and had no problems getting on their network.
I now think it's really a problem with the Hilton Family Hotels wireless routers. The cards seem to work perfectly elsewhere. Don't know why my home system was bad. So long story short, go bribe your local genius (if possible) and get them to check your card.
    So long story

     1.  Are you connecting to your computer with a USB cable or over Wi-Fi?
     2.  Are there any other devices connected to your computer other than the camera, aside from a keyboard and mouse of course?

  • I purchased recently an ipad 2 wi-fi 3G and the device cannot detect any network, I turned the wi-fi on and reset the network, but still cannot detect the network

    dear friend
I recently purchased an ipad 2 wi-fi 3G. the device cannot detect any network, I do not know why. I tried to reset the network, but without any vail. could you please tell me what the setps so I can solve the problem. Another problem, I connected the ipad device with cable to my pc, but the pc is not recognizing the device. The pc only shows the pictures on the ipad.

lets start easy so the we can understand where you are in the process.  Have you set the ipad up using itunes?  if not, you need to do that first.  make sure your computer has the current i tunes version loaded, then plug the pad into the computer.  What kind of computer you using, mac or pc?
If you haven't set it up, then it does not know to look for any networks.

  • I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

Hello. First time using this. Still trying to figure out how to post my questions. I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

If you are using cable and a Nethear router sounds like from the information you provide before your Airport setting are setup improperly. PPoE is not something a cable service would need to work. Fallow the steps I will provide bellow, I will add some screen shots also to assist if necessary.
1 - Open System Preferences from  (Menu)
    2 - Click "Network"
3 - From the Network window you are going to wanna make sure Location is : Automatic and Show is : Airport
4 - Once the Show: Airport is select you should see a window like this, my window is selected for Ethernet simply because I am no longer running Tiger but the window will look the same.
5 - You will want to click on the PPPoE tab and you should see this
6 - You're gonna wanna make sure " connection using PPPoE " is not select, if it is make sure to uncheck this option
7 - Once this is uncheck make sure to click "Apply Now"
8 - You will want to click back on to the "TCP/IP" tab and make sure IPv4 is set to " Using DHCP "
9 - If the option to " Apply Now" is available again please click this
10 - Once this is done go to your Aiport Menu and see if your network is listed and select your network and eneter the password if necessary.
11 - If after these steps you still have issues I would recommend Power Cylcing your Router and Modem for about 5 minutes
12 - Make sure all lights are off when unplugging the Router and the Modem
13 - Some Modems have backup batterys so you may have to push in a tiny button on the back with a pin

  • My MacBook cannot detect my AirPort Express

My AirPort Express is plugged into the outlet, it has the ethernet cable plugged in and a solid green light is on.
When I go into Airport Utility and it scans it says that it cannot detect any devices.
I am not out of range it is in an outlet right beside the couch I am sitting on.
There is nothing near by which could be interfering with it.
I have already tried resetting my modem, my computer and the Airport itself but I still get the same thing each time

The AirPort Express I am using was used previously at my mom's house. I was able to configure it I think. I used the ethernet cord and plugged one end into my macbook and the other into the airport. It then came up in my airport utility and it was the same name and password when it was used previously. But when I unplugged the cord from my mac and into the cable modem the airport express would only flash a amber light and not a solid green one. Where should I go from here.
I am new to macs so please as much detail as possible
    Thanks

  • N100 wireless device not detected in XP reinstall

My N100 originally came with Vista and was downgraded to XP.  I recently had to reinstall Windows XP and the 802.11 abg wireless device is not being recognized by Windows XP.  Is there a device driver that needs to be downloaded?  I've looked at the downloads, but I'm not sure I found anything that would relate to my problem.  Thanks for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I found the answer.  I downloaded the Braodcom Wireless Lan Driver for Windows XP 3000 C200, N100  and followed the instructions.  My wireless adapter is now recognized and the wireless connection is working well.

  • Wireless Mouse and keyboard have lost connectivity with iMac?

Computer turned off for a week. Restarted, and wireless mouse and keyboard no longer connected to computer. Help please

    Hello Pompoo220s,
It is certainly difficult to use the computer if your wireless keyboard and mouse do not connect or stay connected.  I found a few resources I recommend for this issue.
I recommend reviewing this article first:
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3048
If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing the section titled "Top troubleshooting tips" in the article below.  Step 9 specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
    9. Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.
    Bluetooth Quick Assist

  • BEFW11S4 v4 - wired devices work, wireless devices cannot connect to the Internet

    Greetings,
I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless, ver 4. I have a PC connected directly to one of the Ethernet ports, and have no problem with that connection. I have a DSL service from Verizon. All devices are running Windows XP.
My wireless Laptop, as well as other desktop with wireless USB adapter cannot access the Internet. It seems that I have a wireless connection between the router and these devices since my Laptop can see the SSID and the wireless network and connect to it. But when I try to launch IE explorer or use AOL, I am not successful.
The frustrating part is that the wireless laptop used to work just few days ago and I haven't changed any set-up or added any hardware.  I have tried to re-install the router, and also did few resets...but nothing is working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Elie

    Elie,
From one of the wireless computer, wither desktop or laptop, try this to help isolate the issue:
fo to Start>run> type "cmd" then click enter
that would open MS DOS, type: Ping (your router IP address)
For Example, if the router IP address is 192.168.1.1, then type:
    ping 192.168.1.1 then click enter
if it does not come back with a time out, then you your PC is connected to the router. If it did time out, then it is the wireless connection.
If so, check the wireless configuration on the router, as of SSID, security if any , etc.. and make sure that the wireless card in each desktop and laptop match those settings. Be aware that SSID is "case sensitive" so it has to match exactly the one in the router.
hope that will help you in troubleshooting the issue

  • None of my wireless devices can detect my Time Capsule network

A couple of weeks back I bought a 2TB Time Capsule for backing up my stuff and to get wireless internet. It worked like a charm for a while, and I was a happy camper. But not for long. I still get internet on my iMac, and the backup works great, however I am all of a sudden unable to connect to wifi from other devices such as my iPhone or my kid's Wii. I've tried to reset the TC and install it again, but still the same problem. I've tried to fool around Airport Utility's manual setup menu (whitch I will never understand) according to a million forum threads online, still no change. The network always shows up on my iPhone, and occasionally on the Wii, but they won't connect. I'm starting to think my TC is busted, but I find it strange that the iMac has no problem surfing the web. I set the Time Capsule up from my three year old iMac running Snow Leopard and Airport Utility 5.6.1. All thoughts, ideas and voodoo magic tricks would be greatly appreciated, as I am slowly going nuts over this.

TC and Mountain Lion have been having somewhat of a rough patch in their relationship. Marriage counselling (a bug fix from apple) has so far failed to materialise.
But these are brand new items.. Ring Apple support and make them walk you through it.. you have paid for this support and you might as well use it.. it also perhaps makes Apple aware.. that all is not good in userland.. that their networking is a mess.. wet string performs better and more reliably. Make sure they know you buy apple to NOT have these kind of issues.. you could have bought a PC for that.
Are you actually on Mountain Lion? I imagine any new box will certainly come now with ML although some old stock might be Lion.
Airport utility 6.1 is a toy.. a plastic hammer.. great for kids plastic nails.. useless for real world. It tries to do more than it should and provides much less in the process.
If you want to try yourself.. plug the TC into the MBP by ethernet.. (at least you still have ethernet port!!) Turn off wireless in MBP .. no other network connections.. so you now have MBP ethernet to TC Lan port.. ie one that has <...> above it.
Now press and hold the reset for 10sec until the LED starts flashing rapidly.. release it.. and wait until the TC is running.. now open the airport utility.. you should get access to the TC to do the setup.
Setup as I have suggested above.. or this thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4401988?tstart=0
If you have an existing router, use bridge mode.. otherwise make sure the TC is in router mode.. the 6.1 utility tends to put TC into bridge when it should not be.. that over automation again.
If you get really mad, google for installing 5.6 utility into Mountain Lion.. it works fine.. just the installer doesn't work.. 10x better than 6.1 without being in any way difficult to follow.

  • Airport Utility cannot detect my airport extreme base?

I just bought the airport extreme today, and the macbook earlier this week.
i'm struggling with it big time.
I tried rescanning a few times. the light on the base is solid green. (not right now obviously, i had to disconnect the ethernet cable in order to ask this question.)

I am seeing a lot of threads for this issue but no answers that seem to work.
I went on vacation at the beginning of November and brought my Airport Xpress with me so I could have wireless. I was able to set it up no problem. Upon returning this week (and after an update to OS X) I can no longer see the Airport Express or my main Airport Extreme (even though the lights are green) in Airport Utility. I have restarted everything multiple times and tried to connect from all three of my Mac computers, and nothing.
I am able to use the internet wirelessly through the Airport Extreme, but now can't reconnect my Express to my network so I can use airtunes or my printer.
Apple? Any answers other than to restart?

I have also tried adding teh network manually on the tablet and resetting to factory default aswell.
I have atteched the config tro see if the wireless guru's may see somethoing in the channel configuration

    Hi Scott
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Cannot print to printer connected to iMac

I have 3 computers on my network. My printer is connected (via usb) to my new iMac. I successfully (and easily) connected my desktop PC (running Windows XP)to the printer using Bonjour. But I downloaded Bonjour on my laptop (running windows XP) and when I run Bonjour it says "No Bonjour Printers are available" I can successfully "see" the shared files on the iMac but cannot connect to its a printer.
    Help!

Sorry, misunderstanding. I have not been able to print from my iOS devices on my Win7 network. Hence my move to purchase an iMac to try to create a homogenious environment. I'd thought I'd read somewhere that I could print to "Mac shared printers...".  My previous reference to "printing on my Win7 network.." was referring to my ability to share printers on Win7 machines and print from any Windows based computer on my network.  No success as of yet printing on either Win7 nor Apple OS networks.
So my search continues for a solution to print from my iPad on my network [wirelessly of course].
I just made an assumption based on some readying that if I purchased an iMac and shared my printer(s), my iOS printing issues would be resolved, and I'd have a nice new computer for my family to use. So far 1 out of 2 objectives met.

  • Intermittent AirPort Connectivity Betw iMac Running Snow Leopard And Others

I just installed Snow Leopard on my iMac and also have a MacBook Pro still running Leopard (10.5.8) and an iPod Touch. My internet service provider is Qwest DSL.
Prior to installing Snow Leopard I have successfully been able to use the Internet sharing preference panel and the AirPort utility on my iMac so that my other devices would be able to get reliable internet connectivity from the iMac.
However, since installing Snow Leopard on my iMac, I have had problems being able to pick up the internet connection from my iMac to my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch. It works for a while and then I lose the connection on the MacBook Pro and the iPod Touch, though my iMac still maintains its internet connection.
I have looked at the Internet Sharing Preference Panel on my iMac and it is set to "Internet Sharing On" with "Share Your Connection from: Ethernet" & "To computers using: Airport".
The only (temporary) fix I have found so far is to reboot my iMac and then the MacBook Pro and the iPod Touch are once again able to get their internet connection from the iMac.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what settings I need to change in order to maintain a steady internet connection broadcast from my iMac to my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch?

I have a first gen iPhone and just got mine working today by following these steps.
The following procedure is confirmed to work as written.
Start Internet Sharing if it's not already running.
In Terminal, type cp /etc/bootpd.plist /tmp/bootpd.plist
    Stop Internet Sharing.
Open "open -e /tmp/bootpd.plist" for editing using TextEdit or whatever.
Locate this section of the file, near the end:
    <key>replythresholdseconds</key>
    <integer>4</integer>
Change the value 4 to 0.
In Terminal, type sudo cp /tmp/bootpd.plist /etc
    Start Internet Sharing.
If you want to, check that your change to /etc/bootpd.plist hasn't been reverted.
then i just restarted my phone and everything seems to working for the past few hours.

  • How do I setup my MacBook Pro (2009) as a wireless access point for all my wireless device to access the Internet using a USB wireless adapter?

I connect to the Internet with a USB Super Antenna from CCrane.
I want to establish a network on my Mac to allow my other wireless devices to use the USB connection at the USB.
    Any ideas?

Yes, that would work, however it would cost me $2000 for the monitors.
