Wireless Driver Question

I had a HD failure, reinstalled Vista Business and Lenovo drivers. I can not get the system to recognize wireless. The switch is on but I do not know the exact type of internal wireless card. I can use an external without problem. I have downloaded all drivers ican find but none seem to see the card in the system. It is not listed in device manager. Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately you have posted an incorrect Type and Model number in your first post, one digit too many
After a little "process of elimination", which is by no means 100% accurate, I'd try this driver.
Here's hoping I'm right

  • Upgrading T41p to Vista - Wireless driver question

I'm contemplating upgrading a T41p 2373GEU with 802.11abg MPCI wireless to Vista.  A specific Vista driver for this wireless adapter doesn't seem to be available on the Lenovo site.  Has anyone done this upgrade?  Will Vista find a generic driver that will work, or am I out of luck?
    Thanks,

  • OS X Wireless Driver  Question;

    Hello,
I am curious. How may one activate OS X drivers that may not wish to activate for thinking it is not a certain iBook or PowerBook? Why you may ask? I have been using my Orinoco silver so very happily with OS X.3.9 with the hard work of developers from http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.net/ . The thing is, I happened to come on to reading this following article : http://geektechnique.org/projectlab/662/diy-airport-for-an-old-ibook
Why is it, that one can have the same wireless card and it not be recognized by OS X. Is it becasue the driver is noted not to activate the card through the PCMCIA slot or is it merely that the driver does not activate noting it is Lombard vs. iBook ? Your insight would be appreciated. Thank you for your help and time.
    PowerBook G3 Lombard   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Farbod,
I think you may be correct regarding internal card slot versus the PCMCIA card slot. AirPort software apparently only looks for the original AirPort card (Orinoco chipset) in an internal card slot, and this started with the Pismo and newer powerbooks. Somewhere in the various releases of OSX Apple added support for 802.11g WiFi PC cards that use the Broadcom chipset, the same chipset that Apple uses in its Extreme AirPort. I am not up-to-date on the latest AirPort hardware but I have seen various references to the Atheros chipset now being used by Apple. I currently have a Buffalo 54Mbps (g) PC card in my Wallstreet which uses the Broadcom chipset and the card is fully supported by AirPort.
As long as you use the Orinoco PC card, you will be stuck with a third-party driver when running OSX. Interestingly, Apple did support the Orinoco PC card in 9.x, but not 10.x...go figure.

  • Quick wireless driver question

Hi, I have a T500 and have been having issues with WIFI and just wanted to make sure i have the right drivers installed.
When I rebuilt this using VISTA, I installed both drivers below.
    7ywv11ww.exe ThinkPad Wireless LAN (11abgn)
    and
7vwv23ww.exe Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg)
    Thanks
    David

    David,
Hope you got an answer... I'm on a new T-500 and having problems with the latest drivers and Cisco VPN Client. As near as I can tell 7vwv23ww.exe  was the last version that actually worked with Cisco VPN Client. But I can't find it anywhere and lenovo claims they can't give it to me. Would you still have a copy of that executable?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Can't update my wireless driver !

    hi all
my computer is x201i 3249 cbc
last 2 weeks my computer suffered from blue screen
after counselling i found out that it is due to my wireless driver's not updated

here is the conclusion (after I sent my dmp file to the helper):
The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bug check has a value of 0x000000D1. This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.

I have looked on the manufacturers website and there is an updated driver for you wireless card :
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70656.html
Yours is dated oct 2010 as above so depending on what card it is the newest dates are below:
Intel WIFI and WIMax 6250 - driver is 17 dec 2010
Intel Wireless Lan (bg, abg, abgn) - driver is 19 nov 2010
Thinkpad 802.11bgn Wireless LAN mini pci express adapter II - driver is 30 nov 2010
the message mainly says that my driver date is oct 18 and there are newer ones now and i also think it shall be the solution
so I went to lenove and downloaded this one:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73611
we can clearly see that its release date is 2010/11/9
then here comes the installation and what i want to ask:
first i uninstalled my older wireless driver using control panel
then i installed the newer one
but when i check it in control panel, unfortunately it still shows "driver date: 2010/10/8" which is the same as older one
no matter what new drivers i intalled, they all showed 10/8 in the control panel whatever the actual release date they have
so the blue screen just keeps troubling me
may you tell me what'sthe  reason and the solution?
put an end to this plz...(a new computer but almost crashs at least once a day)
    thank you all
    Wayne

programs, thinkvantage, system update.  if you don't already have it download it from the link and run it. it will give you a list of updated drivers for your system.  don't just download and install all of them at once, do it one at a time and reboot after each one.  if there is one for your bios, do that one first.

  • T420s wireless driver problem - after restore/reinstall

    i have a 420s that works fine.
but something went strange with the wireless after one of the updates, not sure if it was windows or lenovo update.
in any event, i tried reinstalling the driver, and it stayed broke.  so i rolled back the computer to a week or so earlier.
this fixed the wireless, but broke a few other applications not lenovo related.
after manual updates on those programs everything works again.
so fast forward to today.  i did the lenovo update, and it decided that it needed to update the intel wirless driver package, since it was never installed.  **bleep**?  but i figured how bad could it be, AFTER i set a new restore point, so the only thing that would get restored was the wireless if it went strange on me.
after the update, wireless broke again.  not entirely sure what was wrong, but it just didnt work right and wouldnt connect or see some known access points.
question;  what is the proper method to completely deinstall/reinstall the wireless drivers and 'access connections' on this computer so that everything works properly?
    thanks for any insight
    mark

    hey markgca,
try uninstalling the wireless driver. let windows install its own generic drivers.
test again with the generic drivers.

  • Thinkpad T500 Wireless Driver Issue in Windows 7

The subject pretty much says it all.
I've installed Windows 7 (x64) and everything is working fine with the exception of my internal wireless adapter. I've tried all the Windows 7 drivers provided and also tried the Vista drivers (x64 when applicable). Still nothing. It's (as far as I know) the Thinkpad internal wireless as opposed to any of the Intel ones.
To rule out a few things, yes I've checked to make sure it's enabled in the BIOS, and I'm certain the wireless switch is on.
Anyone have any ideas or similar fixes?
Should it help, my exact model number is: (T500) 2242-CT0

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Try this, install the Hotkey Features, do a mandatory reboot, thereafter press Fn-F5 to radio on the wireless device, once that's done install the wireless driver.
Would be a good idea to check in the BIOS if the card is enabled in there.
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Building Wireless Driver

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this, but I decided since it has to do with idiotic wireless laptop hardware it fit in this forum.
My problem is, I have an ultrabook, the Lenovo Yoga 13. It ships with the Realtek RTL8723au. Most distros I've done fine with, since I have the driver on an external hard drive that I can build pre-installation if needed, or even post-installation. I really want to use Arch, but it turns out that not only do you have to be connected to the Internet to install the system, it doesn't even ship with the 'make' system: to be able to use 'make', I'd have to install it from the package manager. There's just one tiny problem with that. I can't get the package without the driver, and I can't install the driver without the package.
And as brilliantly as these ultrabooks are designed, they don't come with a built-in ethernet port. I could get one by USB, but I'd prefer to work with the base system as much as possible. Besides, I wouldn't mind the experience if I could get it to work, which was the reason I decided to pick up Arch in the first place.
My question is, is there a way I can build my wireless driver without condoning the use of third-party hardware?

I'll c/p what I saw when I was going through it.

    Hi:
Please do the following and I will post the link to the wireless driver you need...
Go to the device manager, find the Other Devices category, and click on the Network Controller needing drivers.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.
Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that and select the second item on the list (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that begin with PCI\VEN.

I figured this one out ... finally.
I do not have a driver problem.  The Intel 5100 AGN works just fine with Lucid Puppy.  I got it  to connect without incident at a public wifi hotspot and I saved the profile as the default. I needed Lucid FF.pet in order to use the public WiFi network. . I had downloaded the file from the Lucid website to a CD from windows. My CD drive which is USB connected would not mount on Lucid puppy so I could not get FF installed. I tried a myriad of options but it would just not work.  I then copied the file from windows to a pendrive (fat32 formatted) and when I connected it to my X200 and clicked on the file, it installed automatically. No hastle and fast. I then connected to the internet and the browser opened. I was on the internet.
I must say that I am very impressed with Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.  It is great for someone who wants a light, fast OS to use at a Public WiFi hotspot. All of the user activity is in RAM, so it is lightening fast. I think it is also the most secure way to use OPEN, unencrypted, insecure networks. My HDD is not mounted so my personal files are unavailable during the network session. I can browse the network, get my emails (very fast) without the threat of intrusion ( yes,  low-lifes  cruise open unprotected networks, I am aware of this).  I turned on the firewall that comes with Puppy and I do not have an antvirus appl. running.  The speed is very impressive.
I have not tried to install a wireless network from my home (I use a wireless G3 dongle provided by my ISP). I understand that this can be a challenge. My preference is to use W7 from my home, so I will not be setting up this connection.

  • Edge E320 - Wireless Driver Issue

Just got the boss a new laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E320, whacked Win 7 Pro on as a clean installation as usual, though Win 7 didn't pick up a lot of the drivers automatically, so I had to download them, which was fine...
However, when I reboot, the Wireless Driver seems to change / fail, still shows as "Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000BGN" in Device Manager, but shows with an Exclamation Mark...
I've tried reinstalling the driver, but after a reboot it happens again...
If anyone can suggest a fix for this, I'd be extremely keen to try it!

Hello BR and welcome to community,

    Hi
Try performing a system restore to the date where the unit was working fine in case this does not help request to provide the device ID.
    Open Device Manager
In the Device Manager menu, whichever way you got to it, find the driver that is missing (yellow question mark).
-Right click on that driver and go to “Properties”
-In the properties menu, click on the “Details” tab.
-In the details tab, click the dropdown and select “Device Id’s
When you have that sub menu opened up below, you should see a sentence containing a couple things you need.
