Wireless drop of Macbook Air (mid2012)

I have Macbook Air 13 inch- (mid 2012) with software OS X 10.8.4 (12E55) , i have problem with wireless connection which it drops always, i tried to install windows update 1.0 for (mid 2013) but it not work & gives me message that it isn't support on my system, so now please tell me what the solution to solve this wireless drop.

Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it.
Step 4
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Reset the System Management Controller.

  • Macbook air mid2012 can use the Remote Apple Control?

I want to know if a Macbook air mid2012 can work with the Remote Apple control. If so, how should I configure my macbook air to make it work?

No MacBook Airs can work with the Apple remote.  They do not have an IR sensor.
Apple are phasing the remote out.
If you have an iPhone, it can be set up to operate as a remote for your MBA.
There are 3rd party IR remote setups if having a remote is a must (say for training using Keynote).

  • I cannot print wirelessly from my macbook air

I am trying to print wirelessly from my macbook air 256gb. We have a HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series. It works fine printing when I plug my computer into the cord that is connected to the printer. but without the cord, it says the printer is "offline". I am wondering if the only way to print is if I connect it with the cord, or if i can somehow print wirelessly that I do not know about. thanks!

also, the printer says it is not connected, maybe if i connect it, i can print wirelessly. how do i connect it?

  • I just dropped my macbook air

I just dropped my macbook air. What should my checklist contain for examining my mac for any damage? It has a case but I am still worried about it. The drop was about 2-3 ft. The drop was onto carpet but very thin carpet.

The replies in the above thread may help.
Visible damage? Anything obviously loose or broken? (don't shake it vigorously to find out!).
If it looks ok, power on and check screen image, boot-up, accessing apps etc.
MBA's lack of moving parts helps keep down risk of damage.

  • Wireless Projector and Macbook Air

I have a Macbook Air and I will be giving a presentation next week. I was told that they have a wireless projector for me to use. What exactly do I need to use a wireless projector on my Macbook Air? I have the cord that is used to attach for wired projector, but I have not used wireless before. I am not sure the brand of the projector if that makes a difference.
    Thank you!

I would contact the host of the presentation and see how their setup works. I copied the information below from a 2010 posting. Hopefully the host has a usb interface for the projector (similar to what some mice have as a transmitter from the usb port)

So you want to use the projector as the monitor for a computer, but you want to use wireless to join them?
You won't be able to do that using an Airport network. Computer networks can only pass data that's been specially formatted. They can't pass video streams in a form that a monitor or projector can understand.
To do this you need a video sender - a device that accepts a video feed from a TV, DVD or satellite box, then sends it wirelessly to a receiver which you connect to your TV or projector. In your case, you would need an S-Video output on the computer to connect the sender, then connect the receiver to the S-Video input on your projector.
Problem is, video senders don't work as well as cables. You'll get some degradation of picture quality (noise) and possibly some interference from other wireless devices (dropout).
If you want to watch video that's stored on a networked computer, with decent picture quality, you'll need to connect a computer or a network media player directly to the projector using a HDMI or DVI cable.

  • C4780 Wireless setup on MacBook Air

    Hi
I recently upgraded to a MacBook Air (running Mountain Lion) and I have changed my internet provider. This means that when I try and use my printer wirelessly, I have no way of setting up the WiFi as my laptop does not have a C.D drive and so I cannot use the original installation C.D.
Whenever I try and use the WPS push button setup, the printer tells me there is a WPS error every time and so I cannot connect that way either.
Is there anything I can do?

Does your router have WPS?  That is the easiest way.  Start WPS on the pirnter, then within 2 minutes start WPS on the router.
If not, this procedure is clunky, but works:
    1. On the front of the printer: Start [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
    2. On your Mac look for a wireless network named 'hpsetup'.  Connect to it.
    3. Back on the printer in the wireless menu, print a Wireless Network Test.
    4. Type the printer's IP address into Safari.
    5. On the printer's internal settings page in Safari, click on the Network tab and run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    6. Connect your Mac back to your main wireless network.
    7. Add the printer normally in System Prefs > Print & Scan.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Dropped my MacBook Air, should I worry?

Last night I dropped my two-month old MacBook Air on the wooden bedroom floor from maybe 2 or so feet.  It seems to still work perfectly, and I only see a very slight mar on the right top corner near the hinge; you can't even feel it.
Don't laugh at me for being paranoid, but it is my very first MacBook.  Is there any test to make sure nothing was damaged internally, or should I just relax and not worry so much?
    Thank you!!!

You should be fine. MacBook Airs have no moving internal parts except for the fan, so if something did in fact happen to be wrong with a moving part (the fan), you would be able to hear it. As long as it turns on and everything seems to be working as usual, you should have nothing to worry about.

  • Wireless printer, iPad, MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air, iPad one, Brother 5520dw wireless printer, and an HP PC Desktop. How can I get the wireless to work for my MacBook and iPad?? The Brother printer is not on the list of supported AirPrint printers. is this a job for Printopia or Print N Share or another app?

    Hi Dagnabit47,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue adding a wireless printer on your MacBook Air. The article linked below will walk you through the process of adding the printer and ensure the MacBook Air setup correctly.
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14143
    Add a Wi-Fi printer
Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to your Wi-Fi network and turn it on. Use the instructions to unpack the printer, install ink or toner, and add paper. For more information, see this article:
Apple Support article: Connecting a Wi-Fi printer to your Wi-Fi network
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure OS X has the latest information about printer software it can download from Apple. If Software Update doesn’t list an update for your printer, you have the latest software.
Open a document to print, then choose File > Print.
Open the Printer pop-up menu and choose your printer in the Nearby Printers section of the menu. If you don’t see your printer, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu.
A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
If you’re asked for an administrator name and password
Select your printer when it appears in the list, and then click Add. OS X automatically uses AirPrint if your printer supports it, or it selects printer software (also called a printer driver) and downloads it from Apple if necessary.
    I hope this helps.

  • Trouble adding wireless printers to macbook air

I have a mid-2011 11" MacBook Air. I'm trying to  add a couple of wireless printers we have set up on our network: Epson Artisan 1430 and Epson WorkForce 845. I've had no problem adding these printers to MacBook Pros we have, but neither printer will show as an option on the Air when I try to add them. ANy advice is appreciated.

You cannot use a phone number as a calling ID on an OSX device, you can only use an e-mail address as a calling ID.

  • Is it possible to wireless connect my macbook air to my tv?

I have a 13 inch 128gb macbook air with the latest mavericks (10.9.1) and a VIZIO 42” Class LED Smart TV E-Series. Is it possible to wireless connect them so i can see my macbook air's screen on my tv? or do i have to get a hdmi to thunderbolt cable?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can only connect your MacBook Air to your TV wirelessly if you have got an Apple TV. AirPlay Mirroring allows you to mirror your MacBook Air display onto your Apple TV.
If you have not got one, you need to connect your Mac through a cable. If your TV has got a HDMI port, get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US

  • What is the best wireless printer for MacBook Air

I am a new Mac user and have the new MacBook Air. I want to buy a wireless printer but have no idea which one would be best. I have always liked HP printers for my PC.  Thank you!

We have owned several HP printers through the years, but I have been very surprised with Epson.  I would highly recommend the Epson WorkForce printer.  It's an all in one so it does it all.

  • ENVOY 4502 Wireless Connection to MacBook Air

Trying to connection my daughter's MacBook Air to the ENVOY 4502.  Computer sees the printer, but cannot connect to it.  Trying to help remotely.  Difficult!

    Hi @WMVTDad
    I would like to help you connect your Envy printer to your daughters Mac. I understand you are trying to help her remotely. Please try the following steps;
Let's reset the printing system, repair disk permissions, re-add the printer using the right driver, and try to scan again.
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and add the printer back.
When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
If the issue persists, try the solutions in the following document. Although you (your daughter) may not be seeing a printer offline, it sounds like you are experiencing the symptoms offline behaviour; 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X
I look forward to hearing from you.
