Wireless Drops With Wireless

Question

I have a linksys wireless router WRT54G with a linksys card in my dell laptop, latitude c610. It worked fine for a day i think and then it just started dropping, and sometimes it would reconnect instantly and now it gives me this Aquiring network address and sometimes that can  take up to 5 or more minuts, and id rather like to fix this problem because it is quite annoying. Thats the only reason i bought a laptop and it seems too much trouble for what its worth, any help please?
Ive tried the Windows Zero Config in services, and not really a help, now when i try to connect from it being disconnected, it gives me that aquiring network address. I have two computers connected wired and one laptop wireless

Look for the firmware version on the router. If it is not the latest , upgrade the firmware first and reconfigure the router. Go to the set up page of the router and try the following wireless settings
SSID      : any non-linksys name
Channel : 11
Under Advanced Wireless Settings
Beacon Interval                 :  100
Fragmentation Threshold :  2306
RTS Threshold                 :  2307
If you have Windows XP on the wireless laptop then try this :
Go to "Start" and click on "All program". Look for the program " Linksys Wireless - G Notebook Adapter ".Click on it and click uninstall.After it is uninstalled, take the wireless card out and insert the CD for the wireless card. You will find a welcome screen and you need to click " EXIT " and then insert the card. It will bring up a "Found New Hardware Wizard". You need to install the drivers then and this will eliminate the linksys monitor and windows will manage your wireless connection.
