Wireless Fix for 10.5.2 update?
Should we be expecting a fix for the wireless issues 10.5.2 update gave some of us soon? I'm so frustrated right now because I upgraded in good faith. I've done all the "tricks" and nothing has seemed to work. My past experiences have been mostly positive, but this is absurd!
I share my WAP with my roommates and they look at me funny when I say I need to upgrade firmware or reconfigure some settings just because Apple pushed me a degraded update. They're on those "other computers" whizzing along while I'm stuck with speeds slower than an IDSN line.
Anybody have any insight on if Apple going to fix this or are we stuck with having to tweak our AP's?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Dennis, thanks! Appreciate the dialogue.
Was it 49MB? I don't recall, but that number sticks in my mind. Between 10.5.2, the Garage Band, iPhoto and iPhone updates last few weeks I get confused.
Yes I did do the update via the "software update".
I agree with you and myhighway - The best first option would be to remove the update and go back to your most recent working configuration. I did the "good faith update" expecting no serous problems (without backing up) and got burned. Last time for me doing that. Was not able to Time Machine back and reloading my system just to downgrade was not an option. That prompted me to ask if "anybody knew anything" regarding a update to fix the fixes. Haha! Water under the bridge....
Focusing on a solution - I think I may have solved the speed issue, but it's still dropping the connection every once in a while. It's working a lot better today than it was the other night. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G v6, but from what I've read the problems occur across all types of AP's including AirPort for those having issues.
I can't find the post to reference but, one site recommend a fix (for WRT54G's) by loading the AP with the most recent firmware and going back till you have a good connection. I've got the latest version in my AP and my speed has increased from 250kps to 1150kbs. Just need to find out why I drop the connection every 45 minutes or so.
Others on the network aren't experiencing the same problems as me so I know it's isolated to my system. Oddly enough my iBook (G4) does not seem to be experiencing the problem and it has 10.5.2. I admit I don't use the iBook as much here at the house so some testing may be in order.
Wonder if it's Is a 1st Gen Intel iMac issue? Not sure, but I'm focused on it now..I think people are just frustrated because Apple won't officially acknowledge the problem (me included). Thanks again and I'll post if I have any solutions.

Fix for Thunderbolt OTA firmware update , when receiving an error message
Hi, my name is Lou, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a solution or fix for Thunderbolt users that are unable to get their firmware update OTA..
For the last 2 weeks, when i got word that the (OTA) Over The Air firmware update should be coming out, i started going on my phones setting to check for new updates and started to receive an Error message, stating to check back when service was available, well Verizons attempt at fixing the issue was to to a hard factory reset, which didn't work, they also had me go to the local Verizon Wireless store and switch out my SIM card, and that didnt work, and they also tried Forcing the update to y phone, and again No resolve.. There last solution was to send me a refurbished phone, which I am strongly against, cuz I dont want a used piece of equipment, ... well anyways, I found the solution for the fix of getting the update downloaded to your phone, from www.thunderboltforums.com ,
You first need to downlaod an app from the market titled LTE On/Off app, install it. Once installed, I turned of my WiFi on the phone, then opened the LTE On/Off app, and rememer the original setting that its on, bcuz thats the setting u will have to set it at, when your update begins... Select the CDMA mode, not the CDMA(PRL) mode... then exit the app.... By selecting the CDMA mode only, this should make your either 3G or 4G signal switch to a 1X symbol.. then, i restarted my phone, .... i dont think restarting is necessary, but i did it anyways... when it restarted, the signal setting was still at 1X, then I went to setting, aSoftware Update, then Check Now, and within a minute or so, the Download option appeared. once I started the downlaod, I let about a minute pass by, then I went and opened one last time, the LTE On/Off app, and switched the setting to its default setting, and mine was the 4G option and the 4G signal kicked in, and the 78Mb download completed within 3 minutes... hopes this helps... It helped me...I could be wrong but I believe this has been covered but thanks for sharing still...

Think I found the fix for no downloading windows updates for HP Printers problem.
I thought I'd post a new topic here. I've figured out whats gone wrong with the windows 10 updates. Someone wrote about it in his thread (I forget the thread url though), and it worked. I've done this on 2 PC's.. W7 to W10, and W8.1 to W10. What you have to do is; 1. Go to device manager. Look down the list for Printers. Open up that arrow and see if you're printer is listed there? If it's listed as Unknown Device then; 2. Go to the HP website and find the driver for your printer on there. Download it through the website / program as though you was installing your printer for the first time i.e. it should check the connection of you're printer during this process. 3. Now you have your printer driver re-installed. Go back to Device manager and check that it now appears listed by the correct name in the Printer section. 3a. If there are other unknown devices besides your printer listed, you need to delete the other unknown devices, leaving only your printer listed. 4. Go back to windows update and retry a windows update (it asks you to install the old failed ones first, so try it, expecting failure, then press the retry button. 5. If all went well, it shouldn't list anymore updates, and you're done!

Well, I was still showing them after 10.5.2, I'm not sure if this was the case for everybody. I wonder if anyone out there still see the warnings. Ahh, sorry I meant warning not errors.
The only one I had was for the remote desktop and that disappeared with 10.5.2
I also installed 10.5.1 combo update and that took out all but the remote desktop warning.
If you have others, then be careful how you fix them.
Most of us have gotten rid of all of them using the combo updates.
Now, if only it wouldn't take 5 minutes to verify permissions ..
See if you can come up with a fix for that -
I just came across this on Phonedog and was curious as to whether it was a fix for the many issues we are now facing as a result of the latest update. Also , will this include or exclude me as my phone is a Moto Razr Maxx not HD.. Thank you to anyone that can give me some information..
Motorola may be busy prepping several new handsets, but that doesn't mean that the company has forgotten about its existing customers. According to a report from Droid-Life, Moto recently began inviting members of its Motorola Feedback Network to test out a new update for the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD on Verizon. As is usually the case with these "soak tests," though, the Google-owned firm doesn't say exactly what changes this update contains.
We've seen Motorola use these previews to test out new updates both big and small, so the fact that there will be a test for this DROID RAZR HD/DROID RAZR MAXX HD update doesn't give us any clue as to whether this is a simple maintenance release or something more. Motorola hasn't made any official announcements regarding an Android 4.2 update for either device, but considering that the RAZR HD models are still pretty major parts of both Moto and Verizon's lineups, it seems likely that they'll be bumped up to 4.2 at some point. Now we just have to wait to find out if that time is now.
Via Droid-LifeRead what you posted. That is an update for the HD phones. The update I received for my Razr Maxx works perfectly, so I hope there are no updates coming our way.

Adobe Reader Stops Working in Win7. Is there a fix for this, other that updating?
On my multiple Win7 or Vista machines, I suddenly have experienced Adobe Reader not working. I have tried to install the latest updates and have even uninstalled and reinstalled it. Nothing helps the situation. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html -
Is Apple Working On A Fix For 10.7.4 Update?
Given the ongoing problems that many users are having with this latest update - in my case ongoing kernel panics - can anyone confirm what precisely Apple is doing (if anything) to fix the problems caused by the 10.7.4 update.
I've been a Mac owner for 20 years and don't remember one quite as bad as this.I appreciate all the help I can get.

Is there a fix for Contacts will not update in Outlook from iphone visa vera
I cannot say when the problem began, however, if I make a change in a contact on the iphone it won't update OUtlook on my PC and visa versa. It will add completely new contacts but won't update anything that already exists. Is this a general problem? Is there a fix?

Keychain fix for 10.5 in Updates tonight!
I just noticed there is a keychain fix download in UPDATE tonight... downloading now... it says recommended for 10.5 users.
Thank you so much for this post. I was having this exact issue: 10.5.6 update, coreservicesd crashing (because it was saying it was version 0). I tried the combo update because that has helped stuff in the past, with no luck. Again thank you, I couldn't find any other info out there and I really did not want to reinstall.

One fix for 10.8.5 update Wifi Off Issue
I applied the smaller 10.8.5 update the other day. After the update, the wifi on my late 2008 MacBook would not turn on. I applied the larger 10.8.5 Combo update today and it resolved the problem.
Hi all,
I have a fix!
just got off the phone with tier 2 apple tech support.
I have a mackbook 2008 and when I upgraded to 10.8.5 my wifi was completely broken.
Went through all of the typical reset PRAM, remove battery...etc.
Here is the fix:
Go to network prefs
remove the existing wifi configuration
select wifi
select the - (minus sign) at the bottom left of the window.
Select Shut Down from the Apple menu.
Restart the computer.
Open Network prefs and select the + (Plus sign) at the bottom left of the window
For me, WIfi connection was populated already.
Select Create
Go to the menu bar and you should now see all of your typical networks displayed.
Select your network.
Waallla! Sanity restored and your Macbook is back in action.
Have a great day!! -
Fix for Fusion 6 on update to 10.2.2 if Firewalled
Happened to me, passing along if this happens to another. Fusion 6 was running fine on 10.1.1. After updating to 10.2.2 Extensis Suitcase Fusion 6.0 failed to run (errors included: '...could not open the font vault"; "could not open the font vault at the location '*.*'"; "incompatible version of FMCore"). Even after performing all Extensis knowledgebase steps and doing complete uninstalls, re-installs and roll-back to Fusion 5 - the same errors were triggered. By going into my software firewall, deleting all previous connection rules for Fusion, then establishing a new 'allow any/all outgoing connections' rule for Fusion and re-launching Fusion 6 - my problem was solved, and Fusion 6 launched with no issues.
Post again and mark your post as solved, it might help others who are looking for answers.

Fixes for Lion 10.74 Update Freeze
I recently attempted to install an update for Lion, I believe it was 10.74. After restarting my computer, the installation stopped as it was "moving items into place". After waiting several hours, I forced a restart of the computer. Now when restarting the computer it freezes on the gray loading screen with the apple logo. Has anyone run into a similar problem and found a solution? And if not, is there a way to somehow get the computer working again without restoring the entire computer?
Im having the same problem and its not the first time... it happens alot...
I download and once i restart and start to install it gets as far as to the writeing part and thats when it says it cant be installd.
I do it manually and all i get is
"Invalid Checksum"
Great thing when you cant even upgrade the basesoftware.......... -
Has Apple done a fix for the recent Security update that went bad.
Hoping to see a message from Apple that they have made a patch to correct the errors caused by the recent download.
Yes, the problematic update v. 1.0 was immediately replaced by v. 1.1. Just run Software Update again to install it and resolve the Rosetta problems caused by the original.

Has anyone in the Apple community found a fix for reestablishing a connection to a wifi printer after updating to 10.9.3?
Try resetting your printer and router (power off for 15 secs, then back on).
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Printing System:

Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?
Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?
Cannot connect to any wifi since update to 6.0.1
How do I get update to 6.0.2?
Will that even help? Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Fix for Airport Wireless Connection Problem stating Self-Assigned IP and not wanting to connect in Lion OSX.
Bought my girlfriend the newest Macbook Pro 13" and began experiencing problems with my wifi the moment we got home. Her Macbook would not connect to our home Wi-Fi while my old Macbook Late 2008 running Snow Leopard connected without a problem. Airport would say that it had a Self-Assigned IP address (168.x.x.x). Did not realize it was a Lion problem until after using her Macbook Pro and becoming jealous of the new OSX, I upgraded. Soon after I was unable to go online. Luckily I had my iPad 2 and I began to scoure the net for help. Ran into allot of suggestions but it was not until I tried the following all together was I able to share the good new, from my Macbook. Hope this works:
First go to Preferences > Network and click on the cog next to the + and - on the sidebar and click Set Service Order
- Move Wi-Fi to the top and click ok.
- Set location to Automatic

Viola!!! I tried this on my Macbook Late 2008 and my girlfriends new Macbook Pro 2010No you are clearly mistaken. The Self-Assigned IP address problem exists on many Macbook Pro models, including the current model, which I mentioned as being the original computer with the problem. While my 2008 Macbook is older it was working perfectly on Snow Leopard and didn't suffer issues until switching to Lion. So clearly the problem exists on the operating system and not so much the hardware.
I called Apple Support and they had no fix for the problem and told me that this would hopefully be addressed in a subsequent update. It wasn't until I came accross the answer after trying many different methods that I got both of the Macbooks to connect to my router. Otherwise I wouldn't or could not have been surfing the internet for the last 4 months.
Cheers.

Buenas tardes, estoy realizando una aplicación donde envío 16 bits por serial. Mi problema está en que quisiera poder colocarle una cabecera y una cola al dato enviado, y así poder corroborar que el dato recibido es efectivo. Muchas gracias.
