Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera Utility doesn't have view screen

I'm having problems viewing my wvc54gca in the utility program. I can view it over the web, and I can watch everything in playback. However, the video monitor screen is not only blank/black, it shows whatever is in the window behind it. Meaning if I click over to my camera utility right now I will see this screen I am typing on right now through the area that should be my camera view. Everything else is working correctly as far as I can tell. I've downloaded the firmware. I've searched the forums. Not sure what I'm missing.

When you open the Camear utility, click on the setup button..It will search for your camear, select it and click on "add" and click on save...Now,close the utility and re-open it..

    Hi Jam.Hall
I am somewhat hesitant to say you will be able to use this camera with LabVIEW.  It all depends on what functionality you are wanting to utilise on the camera, and how much video you want to analyze.
     - If you want to use the wireless functionality, I am concered that the on board web server will compress and embed the video stream.  I do not beleive this is something we can access in LabVIEW.
     - If you wish to use the ethernet connection, if it is Gigabit Ethernet, then you should be able to use our IMAQ for GigE driver to bring in the feed, but looking at the specs for the camera, I'm not sure that this is an option.
     - My other suggestion might be to utilise the record video stream function that the camera has.  Depending on the format of the video file, you may be able to read in the recorded file and analyse it in LabVIEW.
If you could explain the purpose of your application, and what you would like to achieve with the system, there may be more suitable products that you can use.

  • Connecting DVR to Airport Extreme for remote viewing of my home 16 camera system. I have tried for 2 days and still stuck. I have secured a dyndns account and have had no luck for 2 days. A detailed list for an amateur would be much appreciated.

I have been trying for 2 days to connect my home camera dvr to the internet through my Airport Extreme. I have read several previous posts on this topic and have not been able to get this completed. I secured a Dyndns account and registered a host domain. I am not clear on which ip address to use and really which is which. Seems like the ip address for the router is different from the ip address that showed up when I secured my dyndns host name. I used the one that was listed on the signup that staed " your ip address is". I have read up on port forwarding and watched UTube and still no luck. Can someone walk me through a steo by step process on how to get this completed? I want to be able to watch my cameras from my iphone, ipad, macbook pro and the internet. I do have a manual that came with the DVR but it seems everything is setup for Windows and a different router, seems like the AE router had different settings. I can usually figure these things out eventually but I am really stuck this time. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Have you had any luck? I am currently attempting to do the same thing and running into similar issues.

  • WVC80-N Cisco/Linksys Home Monitoring Camera - recording schedule

Hi there.  I have 2 questions regarding the camera.  First, in the web interface, there is a menu tab for setting the recording schedule.  You can select "start recording now" or  "define recording schedule".  The only problem is that it gives you a starting time and date and an ending time and date.  Is there a way to select a schedule such as 8:00-10:00AM every week day?  It seems to only allow me 1 range.
I see on the monitoring software there is a client that allows you to set a schedule like that.  However, I want to stay away from a client if possible. (one more thing to flake out).
Also, is there a good viewer/organizer for the video files created?  It looks like if I just use the camera web interface, it just dumps the files into a directory on the NAS drive that I choose.  Does the pc client software import these files?
    Thanks
    Benjamin

You could consider using motion detection because it has more range compare to selecting the recording option; but then again the videos will only be sent either through email or ftp server. As for your 2nd query, there is actually no software (from linksys) that could organize or import the videos saved from this camera. Perhaps, there is a third party software will be able to do that.

  • Home monitoring camera video storage time frame.

    Hi,
I want to install an outside camera. At night there is some street light.
Does anyone know how long verizon stores the camera's video on their servers? Is the storage cost part of the $10 per month?
Also for outside, how is the nightime situation with the cameras. Is it better to do snapshot or streaming?
    Thanks!

It's my understanding that the videos are stored on the Gateway device and not at Verizon.
The outdoor cameras have their own light source night time operations.
Here are examples of one of my outdoor cameras in day & night modes as viewed on my iPhone. The camera is mounted on my shed which is about 40 to 50 feet from the left corner of the house. Snapshot or streaming is about the same.

  • Imovie 10.0.3 won't import from a camera that doesn't have a tape

I am using iMovie 10.0.3 and am trying to import live video from my canon gl2 camcorder without having to use a tape.  iMovie will capture just fine but only as long as there is a tape in the camera and the camera is recording.  If I play pre-recorded tapes to iMovie it records ok as well.  I've been using this camera to my macbook pro (2011) and using iMovie without having a tape in the camera.

You need to convert the VOB files back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, as well as the the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • Error msg: your sys doesn't have required screen resolution

Just downloaded & installed Presenter 9 trial version on my Win 7 system. My screen resolution only has two available settings, and neither one matches the precise resolution setting that the error msg says my system needs. What do I do?

It is due to the cable that you are using. For DVI, there are 2 main type of cables in the market, DVI-D Single Link & DVI-D Dual Link.
    Extract from Wikipedia
If you are using a DVI-D Single Link cable, the max resolution natively is 3,840 × 2,400 @ 17 Hz, which is unusable under normal usage. The next best max resolution is 1440 × 900 @ 60 Hz which is usable under normal usage.
However, if you are using DVI-D Dual Link cable (not referring to Dual Monitor support here), the max resolution natively is 3,840 × 2,400 @ 33 Hz with GTF blanking, which is also unusable under normal usage. The next best max resolution is 2,560 × 1,600 @ 60 Hz with CVT-RB blanking, which is usable under normal usage.

  • Any way to see the full camera frame and not have the screen cut the sides off?

Using the newest iPad, when filming, the picture you see is not what you're actually capturing. The screen does not show you the full scope. For example, if filming in landscape mode, it is actually capturing a wider image than is displayed. I understand that this is because the screen is not as wide as the picture being captured, but an app like Kitcam will show you the full width and have letterboxing on the top and bottom. I need to see the full frame of what I'm capturing, or else the camera is fairly useless!
Is there any way to do this other than a third party app? I couldn't find any setting anywhere for it.

    Hmmm...
The older version of the user manual had some info but, upon rereading it, the info describes the view during playback.  You might wish to try the solution anyway.

  • 6th generation classic doesn't have full screen static cover art feature

my old 5th generation ipod classic had a function to display the cover art in the entire field of the 2.5 inch screen while playing the song.....i went into the a local apple store and asked the rep if the 6th generation classic had the same functionality.....after tooling around trying for 15 minutes to find it, two guys couldn't......does anyone know if the 6th gen ipod classic let's you display the image in the whole 2.5 inch screen while the song in playing, or is this a limitation of the new "cover flow" feature?

  • I have airport extreme and just purchased a D-Link DCS-932L home network camera.  D-Link says I need UpNp but the extreme doesn't support this.  Can I use port mapping?  if so anyone know how to set that up?  thanks

I have airport extreme and just purchased a D-Link DCS-932L home network camera.  D-Link says I need UpNp but the extreme doesn't support this.  Can I use port mapping?  if so anyone know how to set that up?  thanks

Since the D-Link DCS-932L is accessible on the local network via a web browser, you should be able to access this camera from the Internet if your router has a publically accessible Public IP address. If your ISP provides you with a dynamic Public IP address, you may want to use a DDNS service to make it easier for you to locate your camera whenever your ISP changes your IP address.
Start the AirPort Utility > Select the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn).
    Select Manual Setup.
Verify that Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address is selected on the Internet > Internet Connection tab.
Select Advanced, and then, select the Port Mapping tab.
Click the plus sign to add a new port mapping.
For Service, leave the default; this will change to "Custom" once you start entering port values.
In the Public UDP Port(s) and Public TCP Port(s) boxes, type in a 4-digit port number (e.g., 8888) that you choose. In the Private IP Address box, type the internal IP address of your camera. In the Private UDP Port(s) and Private TCP Port(s) boxes, enter the appropriate port values that should have been provided to you by the camera manufacturer. Click Continue.
In the Description box, type a descriptive name like "Internet Camera Access," and then, click Done.
    Click on Update.
To connect to the shared Camera from a remote location using a Mac or PC:
    Start your favorite web browser.
Enter either your Public IP address or DDNS-provided Domain Name, followed by a colon and the Public port number that you choose in step 7 of the previous procedure. For example: http://123.123.123.123:8888 or http://www.mydtdnsdomainname.com:8888

  • Port fowarding for linksys WVC54GC  Wireless G internet video camera

    Hi
I have recentlty installed a linksys WVC54GC Wireless G internet video camera. My plan to is to view the video from the internet. As part of the setup, I am using SOLOLINK DDNS service. The set up requires me to do port forwarding for the camera which is part my home network ..
I do not know the values to input for
    public port
    private port
with in the port mapping environment in the Air port express base stations.
Linksys suggests I open port 1024.. Can any one help me in the setup ..

    Thanks,
I have done the changes, It does answer the specific issues i had asked. However I am still unable to view my camera from the the internet.. I did some reading up and I think the problem is due to the IP address..
My AEBS assigns IP which looks like 10.0.1.1 .... In order avoid changing IP, i had assigned the camera with the static IP 10.0.1.252. This is outside the AEBS dynamic range. Hence when i access from internet, i get a message that server is not responding. it looks like this is not a valid IP from an external internet world... I have looked at the AEBS settings and found the actual IP in ther internet tab.. Should I assign the camera with the actual IP ??.. However that is DHCP, so I am a little lost ....

  • Can I use a airport express to get internet connection to a Mac Mini that doesn't have wireless by adding it to my existing wireless network?

I bought a first gen Mac Mini for our daughter and it doesn't have internal airport adapter and was wondering if I got a airport express can I plug it in my daughters room and use it as a local router and just use the eithernet connect from it.  Or would a airport extreme work better for this job.  I have a wireless cable modem that we connect to.  I also have a second question I have a iMac G4 that picks up the wireless signal but will not connect to it does it have to be a Apple airport for it to work or should it be able to connect to any broadcasted signal.  Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure I quite understand. Do you wish to use the AEX to provide a wireless connection for a device that has an Ethernet port but no wireless capability of its own? You wish to use it in place of a wireless card that isn't internally installed? If so, the answer is, "Yes." It will work as a wireless access point. But you must have an extant wireless network because the AEX won't have an Internet connection when used in this way.
If you have an existing wireless network with a wireless router connected to your cable/DSL model or your modem is a wireless router as well, then the AEX may connect to it in bridge mode. Note that AEXs don't always play nice with non-Apple routers. Some work; others don't.
