Wireless G only on Vista but N works on Mac OS X side...
Uhh... Yeah. What's the deal!? I have an excellent connection and speed on my OS X side with Wireless N enabled but on Vista it is connected at 6MB/s and says it's only on Wireless G. What gives? I have a new 500GB Time Capsule router that works with all my other computers, just not Vista on my 20" iMac!
Got Boot Camp v.2.1 and it updated the driver and fixed alot of problems.

Music only in headphones, but speakers work with alarms
My iPod Touch is acting weird.
No sound in speakers - only alert audible.
What can be the cause?
With headphones:
1. Pressing volume buttons will display the headphones speaker icon with a bar below it showing the current level of volume.
2. Alarms are audible in both speaker and headphones.
3. When playing a song the volume is displayed as a blue bar below the prev, play/pause, next bottons.
4. Detaching headphones causes the music player to pause and the blue volume bar disappears.
1 - 4 are all normal behaviour of an iPod Touch.
Without headphones:
5. Alarms audible in speaker.
6. Pressing the volume buttons displays the ringer speaker icon with a bar below shoing the ringer volume. There are no bars shown. Actually the Ringer volume is changed which can be verified by going to settings - Sounds (See 8 below)
7. When playing music there is no sound and no blue volume bar below the prev, play/pause, next bottons. The only indication that the song is playing is the play time indicator that progress through the song at its normal pace.
8. Settings - Sounds display the Ringer and Alerts level as a blue bar. When adjusting this bar the ringtone is played by the speakers. The Change with Buttons is on the volume also changes when the volume buttons are use.
My first thought was a defect sensor in the headphones socket causing the iPod Touch to beleive the headphones were still attached, but the iPod Touch clearly sense when the headphones are not attached as can be seen from the symptoms above.
I have restored the phone from a previously working backup and updated the software to the newest release so it's now:
Mac OS X Lion, iTunes 10.4.
The iPod Touch is from October 2010 so it's still under warranty. However before going through the hazzle of a warranty case I want to exhaust other options.
Right now I'm doing a factory reset and will test it in it's virgin state.I just read suggested postings and pushed the device into the jack harder until it really seemed to click and now they work. I will do the same with the auxillary jack and assume all will be fine. Thanks to all those old postings. What a simple fix!

Cant establish connection but only on firefox but ie works fine
as soon as i open the page it says cant establish connection i try to open diff pages n nothin but internet explorer doesnt have this problem
Skydiver has it surrounded. You have not successfully negotiated with your router. Take a look at the settings when you think it is connected, specifically the ip address. If it does not begin 192.168 then you have not been granted access. Do you have security on? Turn it off, and try to establish a connection, then if that works, turn it back on.
Or
Chose to forget the network, then re search and reconfigure. I am betting that is will ask you for a password, or a wireless key to make the connection. Mthe fact that both devices have the same symptom suggests the issue ismin how you are doing the router connection. -

Lenovo T410 Wireless N pauses (g better but not perfect)
I have a brand new T410 with intel wireless 6200 abgn, wireless N performance is poor when streaming video etc.
I have done quite a lot of work and updated driver to latest 13.4.0.9 and also tried both winXP and Win7 pro 64 bit, both the same.
Problem:
When streaming wireless N @ 300mbs, even if 6 feet from the access point (Draytek 2820 bgn) after varying times, up to 2 minutes, wireless network traffic will pause for between 1 second to maybe 10 seconds or more then 'wake up' The signal always shows 300mbs connection, so not connectivity, performance monitor shows no lost packets and of course when video buffer runs out (5 sec) then video stops. If the pause is not too long, the video stream will re-start., but not a great viewing experience as a result. Even if I cut the video stream rate to just 3mbit/s it stops stream for 5-10 seconds every 2-3 minutes, worse if I stream at full speed 8mbit/s.
I also checked wireless performance with iperf to check max wireless data xfer speed connected at a steady 300mbit/s wireless N, single TCP datastream stream, but xmit is a steady 27.5mbit/s max over 30 seconds but receive 22mbit/s max can drop to zero, yes 0mbit/s for up to 3 seconds in a 30second burst . the test from wireless to a GbE wired PC on the router GbE port , If I checked the 6200 stats, it shows nothing either, all traffic is in one the '2x54 and 2x60mbit/s fast lanes', it is like the adapter is sleeping. If I stream 2 data streams wireless N with iperf I get a sum transmit rate of 45-47mbit/s (23+23) but the sum receive rate is stuck at 20-25mbit (13+13) , varies wildly and dops to zero/near zero at the same time on both streams.
UDP performance in wireless N was not good either.
Originally the pb was the same on wireless g as well also just 6 feet from the router, I got a new T410 wireless card under warranty and now wireless g is better, but still odd smaller drop offs in traffic of 1-2mbit/s, but acceptable with max transmit speed of 20.5mbits/s and receive of 22mbits/s, I would be happy with that., Streaming video still pauses now and again as network traffic stops/pauses, but noy for long enough usually to affect video streaming. Throughput is very close to my T60 wireless g speed in fact, just not as steady... Wireless signal strengths seem comaparable as well.
With the new wireless card the wireless N is a bit better, can run up to 2-3 minutes but it is still real bad even with the new mini pci wireless card.
I have a belkin wireless bg AP and the draytek bgn AP, when in wireless g it is much better on both APs since the new card fitted, T410 connects up at solid 54mbit/s 54g , not so bad but still see some network pause but rare. Wireless N is still bad, I tweaked draytek wireless N settings, greenfield mode, 20 and 40mbs channel, no turbo, max power, no nearby wireless, tried no encryption, other AP turned of, wireless N only mode,,,cannot get it working. Tweaked T410 6200 settings, max power etc, co change.
Just to be sure, streaming over the GbE adapter is perfect and iperf gave max speed of >300mbits/s both ways, constant, so I guess the OS winXP and win7 side of things is ok.
If I compare the performance of the new T410 with my outgoing T60 3495abg wireless winXP SP3, T60 wins hands down, perfect streaming, solid , no speed pauses all round the house the last 4 years.
Just to rule out my draytek 2820 wireless bgn router, I did similar test on wireless N only to a 9 year old IBM T23 thinkpad with a Netgear Draft N pcmcia adapter, it performed better than the T410 with iperf and streaming the same video over wireless N, no stops and stutters, constant net traffic of 3mbit/s and connected at draytek AP at 270mbit/s WPA2..
I am stumped, I am just pretty sure it is a wireless N only receive pb. Is there any chance it could be an aerial pb, if so I guess I will send it away for repair to fix that under warranty.
Anybody out there with any ideas ?
Many thx

Done.I've been having a problem that matches your description too. Wireless-N connection drops whenever significant load is put on it. I've got a Dell Studio 15 Laptop with an Intel 5300 wireless and Win 7 x64 connecting to a Draytek Vigor2820vn. The laptop doesn't have the problem connected to any other networks. The problem also goes away if I set the draytek to only operate in Wireless-G mode (well, it becomes so rare as to become irrelevant, 15+ mins between pauses instead of <2mins). I sent the router back to Draytek who replaced the internal wireless card. I've tried just about every firmware and setting I can find. I've also replaced the wireless card with an Intel 6300 card, and tried many different driver versions. No joy with anything. I've had many false starts, as the problem is just unpredictable enough to be difficult to test in reasonable time. I haven't experienced drops when the network has no security, but operating with no security is useless!
If you manage to get to the bottom of the problem I'd be really interested. I'm currently considering opening the Draytek up and inspecting the wireless card in it myself. I've also wondered if it is possible to replace it, but I don't know how that would work with the draytek firmware. I believe the wireless card in the router is an "AirCruiser N300" card (based on this image - http://www.thg.ru/network/draytek_vigor_2820vn/draytek_vigor_2820vn_screenshots_7_1.html)
I've been documenting my attempts to solve this issue at http://www.jonsguides.com/2010/09/unsolved-strange-wireless-video.html
Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone has
-edit-
I've got Windows 7 updated to SP1 which made no difference, and I've installed the system administrator version of Intel Proset and used the Intel utility instead of the Windows one to manage wireless networks. No joy with those either. The most likely culprit seems to be the router / the wireless card in the router -
WRT120N works only on Vista computers - all XP computers can't connect
Could someone help me solve this problem please? I'm this close to smashing my Linksys router against the wall and swearing off Linksys for the rest of my life.
I bought the WRT120N wireless router for use with a Motorola cable modem. On WPA, NONE of my computers can even connect to the router. So I tried using WEP and my primary computer which runs on Vista works, but only when network mode is either G-only / B-only / BG-Mixed But three other work and personal laptops that are on XP are unable to connect to the network no matter what settings I change. I have tried disabling security, but the XP laptops can't connect to these networks as well. There isn't an error message or anything, it shows that it's connecting, and then disappears after 5 to 10 minutes, but the wireless icon shows its not connected. It may not be a Vista/ XP issue, but three laptops convinced me that it has to be more than a coincidence.
Network Mode: BG-Mixed
Network Name (SSID):
Channel Width: 20Mhz only
Wide Channel:: Auto
Standard Channel: Auto
SSID Broadcast:
Enabled
Under Wireless Security, the settings are
AP Isolation Disabled
Frame Burst Enabled
Authentication Type, Basic Rate, Transmission Rate, N Transmission Rate, CTS Protection Mode are all set to Auto
Appreciate any help that anyone can give. But appreciate if you could be specific as I'm not well-versed in all things IT.
Thanks in advance!Befor you make any further changes on your Router, the First thing which you need to do is to Upgrade the firmware on your Router. Download the latest firmware for your Router from the Linksys Router and upgrade that firmware on your Router...
Once the firmware is upgraded successfully on your Router, then you need to Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router... -
MPEG-2 playback audio syncing issue (works in Vista but not in OS X)
My setup:
- Mac Mini CoreDuo 1.83GHz, 1 GB RAM
- Elgato EyeTV 410 DVB-T
- Sony KDL-46W2000 FullHD LCD-TV (1920x1080p)
I have a rather complicated problem with audio-video synchronization at MPEG-2 playback. I've spent a lot of hours on troubleshooting in the last weeks without coming up with a solution.
I've installed Vista using Bootcamp on my Mac Mini, and in Vista everything works fine, so it's definitely a problem in OS X and not a hardware issue.
I have a Mac Mini CoreDuo 1.83GHz 1GB RAM. I have done a reinstall of OS X and updated it in Software Update until Software update says my "computer is up to date". So it's completely fresh without any third party software.
As display I'm using my brand new Sony KDL-46W2000 FullHD LCD-TV connected via a DVI-HDMI cable. I don't have to do any custom settings for this display. OS X outputs 1920x1080 progressive without me having to do any additional settings.
The issue is that when I watch DVDs the picture is delayed on the screen about 200 millisec compared to the audio. This isn't the case on all DVDs, but on several DVDs that I've tested. I don't know the differences between the DVDs. It's the same problem if I use VLC to playback so it's not just Apple DVD Player. And it doesn't matter if I use the S/PDIF output to let my receiver decode the audio or if I use the internal speaker in my Mac Mini.
Now to the most interesting part...
In addition to DVD playback problem, I experience the exact same problem with Elgato's EyeTV. But ONLY when using their deinterlace method "Progressive scan". If I use "Always" or "Motion-adaptive" the audio and video syncs just fine.
If I playback other media-files (in Quicktime or VLC) like mov, H264/x264 or XviD everything works just fine and as expected.
As far as I can see the problem only seems to affect MPEG-2 playback. And judging on the troubleshooting with EyeTV deinterlacing and/or progressive scan seems to be involved in some way.
I also tested EyeTV on a PowerBook G4 connected to my TV, and it shows the exakt same problem.I don't know what causing the problem, but if you play the files with VLC you can adjust the audio synchronization in its "Audio" preferences if you check the "Advanced" box at the bottom-left.

Log on screen not working with wireless keyboard only usb KB
Since upgrading to mountain lion from the latest version of Lion, I am not able to log on with my wireless keybord only with usb kb but the wireless kb is working well, it react but no stars ** appear in the log on password field
So i enter with the usb kb and then the wireless kb is working well
I put all keybord settings to default
I reset smc and pram but same behaviour
Any hint to fix this ?I fought for it for long time. I used command-r, option key, command-option-r, option-r, everything you can imagine but it did not work. I even shut down the imac and then tried all these combinations but it still did not work. I EVEN TRIED APPLE's OFFICIAL ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE BUT BELIEVE ME IT DID NOT WORK AS WELL. Then I deeply thought for a while and shutdown the iMac. Then I took off the batteries from the wireless keyboard. Then Waited for 5 seconds or so. Then I just started the wireless keyboard with the button on the side. It started blinking. I immediately understood that my trick is going to work. I understood the problem. While the keyboard was blinking I started the imac. Now after startup chime from apple i just pressed the option key. And guess what- THE RECOVERY OPTION POPPED UP! See, the point is after you restart or shutdown the keyboard is still kind of paired with the imac so when you start it those keys are kind of overlooked. When you reaaly take out the batteries from the keyboard the pairing is lost. When you restart the imac the pairing is established during the startup chime tone. This is precisely the moment to press those keys like option or command-r. The command-r key works only if you have imac that was preinstalled with 10.8
I hope this saves your hours of work! I really wished that APPLE knew it. I have so much believed in this company so far. -
Extend Wireless Network using a Telstra technicolor Gateway wireless Router to Airpot extreme but Airport will only except "join a wireless network (which it does) not "extend a wireless network" (Led turns yellow and I can not get a network working on the Airpor Extreme ethernet ports but can ping Airport extreme from Technicolor Router.
Airport gets it address DHCP.Funny how I can ping the Extreme but the Hard Ethernet ports dont seem to work correctly.
When the AirPort Extreme is configured to "Join" a wireless network, the Ethernet ports are not enabled.
Oddly, the AirPort Express has a special feature that will allow it to to "Join" virtually any wireless network.....and the Ethernet port can be enabled. So, an Express would work for your purpose to provide an Ethernet connection to the media player. This assumes that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from your main router.
Note that the Express will not provide any additional wireless coverage when it "Joins". -
Wireless sync only works when I unlock phone. Is there a way to tell itunes my phones unlock code? Itunes tries to sync all night and posts 50 unknown errors. I unlock the phone and it syncs. I dont want my phone sitting around without a lock code but with wireless sync I cant find a place to tell itunes my code so it can sync? Any help is appreciated... Ray O
I have the same problem. I am forced to have a PIN set on my devices because I use my corporate exchange email and sync over wi-fi initially fails until I manually unlock the phone/ipad. #ckuan needs to read the words wiritten. We know how it's supposed to work but it won't start until you enter the PIN. Until then I get error messages saying either it cannot find the phone or explicitly telling me I need to unlock it.

I have a MacBook Pro, Early 2011, 2 GHz Intel Core i7 which I udated some days ago with Lion Mountain 10.8.2. Before it worked just perfect. Now, since the update, I loos the internet connection after a wile, (at the beginning every 20 sec, now up to 4 hours) even that the sign of the WiFi network connection shows to be perfectly connected.
My other divices like IPhone, IPad stay connected and work. The rooter is new and cannot be the problem. I tried nearly everything I found on the bloggs, but nothing helped actually. It must be a softwear problem on Lion Mountain, what can I do?
Thanks for any helpI FINALLY SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!!
New routers have "mixed" modes for your network; this means that it will automatically choose the best option between wireless-B, wireless-G and wireless-N network modes. I used to experience this issue using the 2.4 GHz. mixed mode wireless network.
Thankfully, my router can create 2 networks: a 2.4 GHz. network and a 5 GHz. network.
When I randomly changed this value to "use only wireless-B and wireless-G" trying to fix an issue with a wi-fi expander, the iMac wi-fi issue dissapeared! I tried it with wireless-N only, but it didn't work.
So, finally, I have a 2.4 GHz network with only wireless-B and wireless-G modes which works PERFECT with the iMac, and a 5 GHz. network with a mixed* wireless mode for everything else mode.
*PD: by "mixed" mode it means that the router will automatically choose between B, G and N network modes as it fits better. -
Have a 802.11n time capsule, the range of the wireless network has shrunk down to nothing over last few days. Used to be able to use wireless network anywhere in house, but now can only use in my office. Will not connect to iphones, ipad, itouch, or notebook. Worked fine last week, but over weekend just started having issues.
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has appeared recently that is preventing your Time Capsule (TC) from providing a clean RF signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible. Look for other Wi-Fis that may be operating nearby. Note those with the strongest signals and which channels they are operating on ... then change the channel used by the TC to be at least 3-5 channels away. -

Using iPhone 5 and was able to send and receive texts and calls up top about ten days ago. Nothing else has changed as far as I know.

I cannot get my iPad2 to communicate with a Motorola H700 wireless headset. The iPad shows that they are connected, but nothing works. I am trying to get the little microphone to show up for voice messaging.
I have since fiund out that the talk to text feature is only available on devices that support Siri, iPad3, iPhone4 and later. Hope this helps someone else.
