Wireless guest and HTTPS sites issue

Dear all,
I'm experiencing an issue with wireless guest, when accessing a site with https, the traffic is not intercepted by my controller, http sites are intercepted without any issue, I've found a document where this issue is mentioned as bug ID CSCar04580
http://cisco.biz/application/pdf/paws/108501/webauth-tshoot.pdf
could you please let me know what the fix is?
Thanks,

Thanks for the feedback, however I've added the 443 port and the traffic
is still not redirected.

HI i have macbook pro with OSX 10.8. I am facing typical problem with Wi- Fi , in school wi-fi it does'nt connects to http sites and connects only https as no security/proxy settings done but in home wi-fi it connects to all  http and https sites. How to fix this problem as I am new this operating system. Please any one help me in this as I have installed Delicious Library which is not working in school becoz it searches amzon http site.

I would imagine that at school, you're required to connect through an HTTP proxy.
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. Enter the proxy settings given to you by the network administrator. Click OK and then Apply.
You may wish to create separate network locations for home and school. See the built-in help for instructions.

  • BT Infinity and https connection issues

I have sporadic issues with https connections on my BT Infinity service.
I used to be on Virgin ADSL and had no issues.
I can also use a Orange mobile dongle with no issues if I switch to that when experiencing problems with BT.
    Some example sites:
    Dixons checkout pages
    NatWest banking pages
    Anyone else experience this?
Should I periodically reboot the HomeHub and VDSL?
    Cheers,
    Jason.

Can someone on Infinity kindly do me a test and visit https://upgrades.o2.co.uk/index.htm and tell me if it's darn slow for you too?  It's not the site as I'm loading up VNC and connecting to a VPS in America and it's instantly loading. It'll definitely rule out traffic shaping if someone on Infinity can tell me either way.
    Thanks you generous souls!!!

  • Officejet Pro 8610 - Can't connect to wireless network (and has similar issue with previous printer)

When I returned from a trip, I was unable to connect to my trusty HP All-in-one 7510 that I had on my network for three years.  I tried troubleshooting it, reinstalling the software on numerous computers, and fixing the printer, but alas the printer said that it was connected to the network, and none of my computers wanted to find it anymore.
Then I bought my new Officejet Pro 8610 this week, set it up...and I am experiencing the same issue.  I tried using the link and support took from this post - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officejet-Pro-8610-Can-t-connect-to-wi... but the printer was unable to be found on the network.
I would appreciate any help on this issue.  Thanks!

  • Mac + parallels and https site test = router restarts

Ok I have an interesting & very frustrating problem happening. I'm going to explain it the best I can.
I work as a graphic designer & web designer on a mac and have a Comcast internet connection that comes through a Comcast branded router (SMC8014) which then ties into an Airport Extreme Base Station which runs my office network. I run OS 10.5.7 and also run Parallels 4.0.3 (running Windows XP) for testing websites in Internet Explorer and so on.
Ok, so that the basic background. Here's my issue.
I've been collaborating an ecommerce website with another designer/developer and when testing the site on the PC side we have started to run into some sort of network problem. The site is https if that matters at all I suspect it may. Basically when I run parallels for testing I am constantly having to restart the router in order to connect to the test site (it's hosted). Funny thing is I can access the rest of the internet fine, just not this site I'm working on until I restart the router (It's sorta like the site is timing out). This never happens when just running the Mac side of things. It only becomes an issue when Parallels is open and I am doing page refreshes while making css or HTML edits via something like Coda or CSS edit (connected to the hosting server via ftp). The real problem is that once the problem starts I only get about 2 or 3 page loads before I have to restart the router again. It's absolutely crippling. I cannot get any work done when I have to restart the router every couple of minutes.
So, if you think this problem is isolated to me, the answer is no. The designer/developer I'm collaborating with has an office a couple miles away and experiences very similar problems under slightly different setup. He also has Comcast as his internet provider and connects his router to an Airport and primarily works on a mac. The main difference is that rather than using a visualizer like parallels to test the website on the PC he uses a real live PC that is on his network. Once he fire up the PC to do testing he runs into the same issue described above. After a couple of page refreshes in Internet Explorer or other browser on the PC the site becomes unresponsive and the router has to get restarted.
Any thoughts on what is going on here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • E4200 Wireless Guest and WEP connects, other security settings do not

I have E4200 with fixed ip 192.168.1.2, DHCP off connected through LAN ports to FIOS ActionTec as 192.168.1.1.  When connecting through wireless network off the E4200, I can obtain and connect fine under Guest network and WEP security, but for any other security setting, WPA, WPA2, Mixed mode, etc.  I get the message "Aquiring network address" forever, and I never get a connection.  How do I troubleshoot?

Is your FIOS ActionTec wired or wireless modem/router…. From where you are receiving the wireless signals to connect… Which operating System that you are running on the computer? It happens only to a specific computer or it happens to all the computers connected in the network?

  • Wireless Guest and Broadcast

    All,
The design guide specifies the following limitation: "As designed, 4400 series controllers do not forward IP subnet broadcasts from the wired network to wireless clients across the EoIP guest tunnel."
Does this mean that i cannot initiate a connection from a wired PC (or the default gateway) to a wireless PC (even after is has authenticated ?) because arp
would be unable to resolve or find the mac address of the wireless PC (ARP REQUEST broadcast will fail because it is not broadcast to the remote wireless client, if i read this limitation correctly)

The feature works for clients on the same controller at all times...meaning no inter-controller roaming.

  • Wireless Guest and mac authentication

    Hi all,
I want to setup a wifi guest network with mac based authentication.
I already have the guest anchor controller and the remote wlc controller (and the mobility tunnel) up and running.
However, i am uncertain where i have to program the mac addresses: on the remote wlc or on the guest controller ? (for local database mac)
It seems my authentication only works if i program the mac address of the 'remote' wlc (the wlc holding the AP).
This is a pitty, as i was hoping to centralise all "appoved" mac addresses on the guest controller and not on each individual wlc seperatly.
Also, suppose i want a radius server to validate the mac address. Which controller is going to sent the radius request ? the wlc controller
managing the AP or the guest anchor controller ?
Does the remote wlc also need to be configured with "Layer2 security: none"+"mac authentication" (the same as the anchor controller) or can i put "Layer2:none" and put the anchor controller on "Layer2: none"+mac authentication ?
    regards,
    Geert

    Hi Geert,
The rule is straightforward : layer 2 is handled by foreign WLC (one holding the AP) and layer 3 handled by the anchor (the guest).
This means the anchor WLC handles the dhcp/ip address, it handles the web authentication etc ...
But only the foreign WLC knows which AP the client is associated to, it's the only one to have layer 2 information so that's the one doing layer 2 authentication (wpa psk or mac filtering).
The way to "centralize" for you would be to have the mac addresses on a radius server or to push the mac addresses on the controllers via WCS.
    Hope this clarifies,
    Nicolas

  • Possible solution to wireless/bluetooth/and system performance issues.

I had a TON of issues with Leopard after my Tiger Install, network, bluetooth, video playback, iTunes playback, system performance and freezing just to name a few. I tried everything (reseting PRAM, etc.) to fix the problem and have done a variety if installations half a dozen times. Yesterday I took out my 3rd party memory I had installed (Corsair if anyone cares) and did an erase and install. I've had no problems so far and everything seems to be running great. I'll keep everyone posted on any progress. You may want to try this if you think you may have the same issue.

    Hi
I may have the solution to slow performance when using multi core processing. I was testing out realflow 2013 and noticed simulations were talking a long time to finish when using maximum threads 32. I set the threads to 8 and the simumlation was twice as fast which did not make any sense to me. The simulation was taking 1min 24 secs to finish using 32 threads and 45sec using 8 threads. I realized their has to be a problem here. So I went into my BIOS and disabled Hyper Threading. So now instead of having 32 threads I only have 16 threads. When i went back to try the same simulation again this time the 16 threads was only taking 24secs to finish. and the 8 threads was taking 35secs to finish. This made a lot more sence to me.
Anyway so once I realized that turning off Hyper Threading fixed my simulation problem maybe it might be the cause of my slow performance in AE using multi processing. I tried AE and now multi processing is working great very fast now and stable. MP renders start right away now instead of getting stuck on frame 2 or saying initializing background processes and never ever doing anything. Before I had to keep disabling MP and re-enabling it in AE to get it to start working again and still it wasen't very stable
If anybody is having issues with slow performance from their Multi processor systems try disabling Hyper Threading in the BIOS it might just fix your problem.
    Hope this helps

  • BT Infinity HTTPS connection issues- anyone else?

    Hi all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been having considerable problems with HTTPS sites over the past few months - timing out, unable to make payments online with ClickSafe - Lloyds Bank, Natwest, NEXT, National Lottery. Some HTTPS sites load eventually but usually very very slowly or time out.
This issue is across all my devices - Macbook Pro, iPad Air, Samsung Tablet, Windows 8 Laptop, x3 iPhone 5.
If I switch WiFi off on my iPhone I can make payments over the mobile phone network fine but as soon as I switch WiFi on the problems occur again. I took my Laptop to a friends house and used their TalkTalk Broadband and no issues, all worked fine.
I have had 2 HH4 and now a HH5 and the problem still occurs.
I have Changed numerous settings, undertaken numerous reboots and complete resets to no avail.
I have enabled firewalls and disabled firewalls, changed MTU and numerous other possible fixes, but again none have worked.
I have paid for BT Tech Expert support who have been very helpful  and always called back when they have said they would but they do not know what the problem is and are still working on it. Next call on Monday night.
I found this very long thread starting in 2011 and ending in February 2013, where BT customers were experiencing the exact same problems in the South West of England and it turned out to be a network issue that was resolved but it does not explain how it was resolved!

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_1-networking/how-to-change-ipv4-dns-server-...
You can use 8.8.8.8 as they suggest, as that is Google public DNS.
If that fixes the problem on the laptop, it would point to a problem with BTs DNS servers.

  • Https redirection issue for Wireless Guest CWA - ISE 1.3

    Our Setup is
ISE 1.3 (Patch level 2) running on ACS 1121
2 nodes clustered with Admin, monitoring, policy service enabled ( Primary and Secondary ).
Configured SSID Guest for Centralized web authentication with ISE.
We have issues in web redirection with chrome . It is not redirecting to the ISE page but rather showing " Page cannot be displayed".
By default chrome is pointing to https. For example if we type https://google.com it is not redirecting to ISE page. But when I specify the same as http://google.com it works.
There is no issue with IE, Firefox as it is redirecting to ISE page with default https and i can see it is hitting our rule.
    Please advice.

    Hi Neno
They are using a third party certificate (digi cert) for client auth. They have confirmed even if they use a self-signed-cert the result is same.
So basically none of the https page is not loading. If we manually browse some https site from Firefox, IE the result is same showing " page cannot be displayed".
Redirection to https is the problem which i have never faced with my other customer. This is the upgraded version of ISE from 1.2 to 1.3.

  • SA 540 and DMZ Issue for Wireless Guest Access

I have hooked up a Wireless AP into the Optional Port setup as DMZ on the SA 540.  My goal is to provide internet access to wireless guest users without giving them access to the entire LAN.     The internet access for the wireless guest users is painfully slow.   It takes 5 minutes to access Google.   Has anybody else had issues with slowness.    I am able to successfully ping websites and retrieve their IP address, but it won't connect to any websites via web browsers.   Just to humor myself,  I configured firewall rules to allow DMZ full access to the LAN and WAN.   I am still having the same results.   Any thoughts and suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm not the one with the AP problem, I just have the same issue with the DMZ port. I think you have to forget about the whole AP issue here since the problem is with the DMZ port on the SA500.
I have my Web and Mail server set up on the DMZ port, I can ping and resolve Domain names to the outside world, but trying to reach anything with a browser takes foreeever. On, eg. www.apple.com I just get a few lines from their web page (so there is a connection) and then it halts to a stop (takes about 5 min).
I also tried to move my laptop to the DMZ, just to make sure there is no problem with the server, and it has the same issue.
To summarize, I have about 16 Mb connection on my LAN and on my DMZ i can't even load a full web page.
    Firmware 1.0.39
BTW, when I upgraded the firmware it wiped my configuration, but it kept my firewall rules in place, even though they weren't shown in the Firewall table. e.g. I could still access my DMZ from my LAN. I had to hard reset the router from the hardware reset button on the router before that changed and the router was completely reset.

  • Wireless guest access with CWA and ISE using mobility anchor

My team is trying to demo wireless guest access using CWA with an ISE server.  We appear to be hitting an issue when combining this with mobility anchoring.
When we don't use a mobility anchor the authentication goes off without a hitch seemingly proving that the ISE configuration is sound.  The test laptop associates and gets redirected, auths, moves to the RUN state and access to the network is granted.
When the mobility anchor is enabled, the test laptop does get redirected, authentication is successful, but the process does not fully complete, as on the foreign controller the user is in RUN state whereas on the anchor the user is still stuck at CWA required.
Now, I've read the L2 auth occurs between the foreign controller and ISE, and the L3 auth occurs between the anchor controller and ISE, but this does not appear to borne out in packet captures of the process where both parts of the auth seems to go to and from the foreign controller and ISE.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has come across this issue, or has ideas where I should be looking in the config or debugs to find the root cause.
When setting up the controllers and ISE this guide (linked below) was used and the controllers are 2504 controllers on 7.5 series software and ISE is on the latest 1.2 patches:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_configuration_example09186a0080bead09.shtml
To me it seems to be mobility related, but the authentication flow does seem to be off compared with what the guide says.

  • Can only connect to HTTPS (secure) sites and can't connect to HTTP sites

In short I CAN ONLY connect to HTTPS sites, meaning secure.
I've narrowed this down to an issue regrading my mac book pro and the wireless router.
    Router:
    - not sure of the make model
    - other computers CAN connect to this router and go online
    My Mac:
    - Mac Book Pro
    - OS X 10.6
    - I can connect to other wireless networks just fine
    - I can surf the web for about 10 minutes or so then it blocks ALL http traffic
and i'm only allowed to https sites
going to a http site results in a "page is taking to long to respond"
    please anything?

The router is a Verizon MI424WR
hope that helps, but i doubt it will...
just to also clairfy http sites either go really slow then time out only never to come back, https are blazing fast
