Wireless installation with Smart Install disabled

I am trying to do a wireless installation, after being informed that smart install is disabled by default. The web site to which I am directed offers nothing more than the CD. Where do I begin?

I would like to assist you today with installing your HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer for wireless printing on your Windows 8.1 64 bit Operating System. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
If you currently have your USB Cable attached from your HP Laserjet to your Windows computer, please disconnect that cable now.
Next, please click here to download the appropriate HP Full Feature Software and Driver package
Once the website opens select the 'download' button on the top left
When prompted please allow the download to Run
Once the download is complete an extraction will Run to 100% and the installer will automatically pop open
Please follow through the onscreen instructions to install your printer
When prompted choose the 'Wireless' connection method
If your printer is not currently set up on  your Wireless Network, the installer will prompt your when to connect the USB Cable to configure wireless. Do not plug in the USB Cable until the installer prompts you to
Once the installation is complete please test wireless printing to verify that everything is working properly.

    Hello people
    Has anybody managed to get smart install working on a vlan other then vlan 1?
    Our setup would be:
    DHCP  - Local director
    TFTP  - ekstern server
    Management vlan 209
    My issue is that when I connect the client switch to a normal trunk "sw mode trunk" we use vlan 1 as native per default and obviously no traffic is comming from vlan 209 to the new switch. It just works (downloads IOS and startup-config) when I connect the client switch to an access port on vlan 209.
    I have gone through several docs and videos but all show vlan 1 as the vstack vlan .
    According to this guide should be possible to use a different vlan then 1 as management for the vstack.

    Yeah I'm not sure how big the STP thing will be, I'm racking my brain trying to remember, I think when VLAN_Inconsistencies are detected on a trunk the VLAN isn't allowed to enter forwarding state or something, but my memory of that is fuzzy at best. I think you can stop that, maybe with something like BPDUFilter on the upstream side of the trunk. In that case you could turn it on to allow Zero Touch to configure and upgrade the switch, then as soon as the switch is configured you could have native vlan matching on both sides and the BPDUFilter could be disabled. I sort of see that as something like a join window, it does make it not true zero touch, but includes a security feature where you have to intervene before a smart install can occure. For me that's a good thing, but for others it might be a pain in the ass. Obviously in either case be careful when playing with anything that can interfear with STP, BPDUFilter is an obvious exclimation point for that warning.
    I think you would have trouble with L3 as the defaut config on a blank switch will have all ports in switchport mode and you can't zero touch the switch and also set the port into no switchport mode at the same time. Unless you are refering to having the L3 SVI for VLAN 1 on the director. Obviously that solves all your problems with Smart Install needing vlan 1, but then you need routing back to your TFTP Server and to DHCP, possibly to TACACS and to your management station so in my mind you are basically starting to actively use VLAN 1 for management. In my case this is unacceptable as all our switches have a low numbered VLAN (never 1) as their management interface and that is the only interface I let LMS contact them on. Since LMS does discovery through CDP and CDP always finds the IP of the lowest numbered VLAN on your neighbouring switch, creating VLAN 1 would be very bad for us. It also goes against all the security principals regarding the use and appropriate pruning of vlan 1.

    I already read that it was not possible to switch off either 2.4ghz or 5ghz radio in the year 2009. Is it in the meantime possible? I would like to test some new wireless installations on Co-channel interference.

    AHT on the disks is unreliable and can't be updated to match firmware and drivers changes in OS X updates, so don't even bother with it.
    If your Mac is a more recent model, you can boot the machine while holding the D key down until something appears on the screen, but you have to be near your Wifi or on Ethernet connection to the router/modem as AHT is downloaded from Apple's servers.
    If your machine is having a problem, take it to a Apple Authroized Repair or Store and they will hook it up to their diagnostic machine for free.
    No problem.
    And you can install as many OS X versions on one machine as you like, as long as it's a Mac.
    OS X 10.5 is obsolete and insecure, OS X 10.6 and later are getting security updates.
    OS X 10.6 has Rosetta and will run your PPC based programs of 10.5.
    OS X 10.7 and later version will not run Rosetta or PPC code, unless you install OS X 10.6 Server (it's legal) into a virtual machine program.

    Has anyone seen this. It seems to happen with ARD 3, have not seen this in ARD 2.
    I go to the Install Packages on Target Computers, put in: 10.4.7 Combo (for the correct CPU, PPC or Intel), security updates, QT 7.1.2, etc.
    Push it to Macs I can connect to, observe and control.
    The progress bar copies the files (in some instances it does not) and then it just hangs there, bar does not move, Installs never finish, not good, very odd.

    Is it the same clients that have the problem every time? Are those clients doing anything cpu intensive? Have you tried rebooting the affected clients?
    Maybe try a smaller package on those clients.

  • An installer created with LV2011SP1 won't install on a machine with LV2013 installed

    I'm currently working on several FPGA drivers generated with Labview 2011SP1, which include a dll interface and a test program to test functionality of the dll. I used an installation pacakge to install 1) the dll to system32
                                                                   2) the .dll/.lib/.h to an absolute path on the target PC.
                                                                   3) the .exe test program to an absolute path on the target PC.
                                                                   4) the necessary NI components (The NI Labview Run-Time Engine 2011 SP1 f5 and NI R series RIO 13.1),
                                                                       via the additional installers section of the Installer dialog.
    This has been working fine, up until the customer installed Labview 2013 on his system. When I then gave him the next release of the package, it fails to install, with the message <files> "Incompatible with products already installed". Via trial and error I removed various of the 4 items listed above and the problem only disappears when 4), the NI components are removed. I then uninstalled LV2013, and retried my installation and it works. The customer doesn't need LV2013 on the machine so this fix is ok for now, but I am now concerned that all these similar packages I'm producing, delivered to several different customers, could be prevented from working if a target PC contains a later version of Labview than the one it was developed on.
    Can someone confirm this issue and how it can be rectified?
    I've found the following http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/F41A941BE2AFAC47862574B100736584 issue which is possibly the same issue, but with a much older version of LV (I'd have expected it to have been fixed by LV2011SP1!). The fix for the above issue is to uninstall the runtime engines, however they don't appear on the list of installed NI products, and to unsintall them I apparently need to use an unsupported tool called msiblaster? Even if this worked, if the customer wanted to use LV2013 in the future, how could I support that?
    I'm getting increasingly frustrated that I spend more of my time trawling the forums finding fixes for LV bugs than trawling my own code fixing my own bugs...

I haven't charged before the download, the app store first let me to download it then it requested that amount of money for next download wich it was a free app. Can anybody enlight me? thanks

    If you have problems with your Mac you use Lion Recovery

    Since Lion came pre installed on your Mac, the App Store doesn't not recognize that as a purchase so you if you want to re download Lion to create a boot disk you will have to pay for it. You can then re download Lion on all your authorized Macs for free.

  • Windows installer trying to install smart web printing

    Hi, 
    Everytime I click on my computer to open a folder or on the start button, windows installer tries to install smart web printing and I get an error message everytime. I have to manually close the window everytime. 
    I tried to remove smart web printing in the control panel but it didn't work. I also tried to install the new version of Smart web printing and unstall it but it didn't work.
    How can I solve this issue? I want to stop windows installer to try to install smart web printing everytime I open a folder. 
    I have Windows 7.

    Finally I've figured out a way to solve this. I typed msconfig in "run", and unchecked all the HP, Smartweb printing and windows installer items in the services and startup tabs. I don't have the problem anymore.

  • Installed 8.5 and now I can't build an installer with 8.0

    I've been using 8.0 to write some applications.  We have the professional development system contract or whatever with NI providing upgrades.  Our IT dept came and installed 8.5 on my computer.  I used it for a short while, then went back to 8.0.  I have not un-installed 8.5.   I'm now experencing problems building an installer with 8.0.  I get the message box that it is "unable to locate the installer source for NI Labview 8.5 distribution" and a default D drive for the original CDs which I don't have.  I do have the original 8.0 CD's and mainly for that reason  want to continue to use 8.0.  In the build process I am using additional installers for datasocket and visa 4.2.  If I uncheck them the install process will complete.  Is there someway for me to force my installer builder to use the 8.0 files instead of 8.5?  Could I do this by un-installing 8.5?  I re-installed 8.0 hoping that would help but it did not.  I searched for this problem and found several earlier postings concerning this problem but none specific to this particular issue.  thanks for any advice, Mike

    Thanks for the input centerbolt.  What a pain huh?  I'll have to think about if I want to do all that for a while   While I have administrative rights on my pc, the IS dept. is so paranoid what people might do I'm uncertain of restrictions that might stop me part way through and then be unable to recover or something.    I like LV a lot but not real happy with the build processes for compiling programs and installs.  If I copy the  LV CDs to my C drive and then do the installation from there rather than the CD drive, will the program installer quick defaulting to the D drive for unfound drivers?  Does that make sense?  Anyway, thanks again.

    Hello all, I can't install Xcode 3.2.6 on a fresh Lion install (created with a bootable flash drive from burning InstallESD.dmg to a FD w/ Disk Utility). I get the following popup message:
    "Could not reload Installer.app to be compatible with required install plugins."
    I'd rather not have to move to Xcode 4 and spend the time re-orienting myself with the interface. I also don't want any of my projects to break. Has anyone encountered this message before?
    I'm running a 2010 13" MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, fresh install of 10.7 onto an Intel SSD, HDD in the optical bay. Thoughts?

    I run Xcode 3 on another MBP (Early '08 15") running Lion, and everything works just fine. I had it working under Snow Leopard, updated to Lion, no problems. On this other one, I can't get it to install at all.
    Xcode 3 will work just fine with the iOS SDK under Lion, which is what I'm working with.

  • VIsta Wireless Problems with New FIOS Install July 2009

    I recently had FIOS telephone, INternet andTV intstalled.  All was well except on my Vitsa laptop I cannot maintain a steady wireless conneciton with the Actiontec MI424WR router.  I hit the Web and found out that many have had this complaint and that there is an ongoing conversation about whose fault the problem is.  I had flawless service under TIme- Warner with my Vista Wireless so I did not intially assign blame to Vista or my laptop.  I do recall the Verizon installer mentinoed "problems with Vista" but he did not elaborate.  I spent all day yesterday researching and attempting every fix suggested on numerous web sites.  All failed except one.  
    Essentially, I now use my LinkSys Router in front of the Actiontec MI424WR router.  I found the instructions to do this on numerous web sites after researching FIOS Vista wireless problems.  The LinkSys router handles only wireless.  Now my Vista laptop never drops a connection.  I still have acess to FIOS TV guide and on demand so the fix did not interfere with FIOS router TV functions.
    THe bottom line is that it would appear that there is a problem with the Actiontec MI424WR router and Vista.  Fortunately for me I had the Linksys ROuter available.  Verizon - you need to look into this.  Based on what I have experienced I cannot recommend FIOS internet for those with VIsta computers until tjhis is addressed.
    From what I have researched, Verizon claims it is a Vista problem.  Beta testors of WIndows 7 have reported the same issues with FIOS and Actiontec MI424WR router.  My experience and that of others who have devised the fix I employed would clearly suggest that Verizon needs to look into this and get this problem solved.

    My neighbor had a similar issue. When trying to figure it out we found out that there is a problem with some of the Intel drivers when connecting to some g class routers. We upgraded the wireless drivers on the computer and bingo the problem went away. This was on an Intel-R pro  wireless.  If you have Intel-R pro wireless on your computer, try upgrading to the current driver set and see if that helps you too.

  • HP P1102W Smart Install not showing up

    Hello HP! 
    I've aquired a new HP P1102W and I'm facing some installation problems. 
    My desktop runs on Windows 7 x64, including all updates, I do not have an antivirus or firewall, I do not have other 3rd party applications. Only things installed are my system's drivers. Everything runs OK. 
    What I've done regarding the printer installation:
    I've connected the printer to AC power
    I've plugged in the USB cable(the USB port works fine; tested it)
    As I read the User Manual, while the printer is conected to the computer, Smart Install should have appeared as an AutoPlay, or at least in My Computer, but it doesen't, althou AutoPlay isn't disabled
    Tried to power off the printer, turned it back on, reconnect it to different USB ports, but Smart Install doesen't show up.
    Windows has successfully installed the drivers needed for the printer to work, as I plugged it in for the first time. 
    I am able to print using USB
    The blue WiFi LED is turned on and it blinks rapidly
    Downloaded HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver, opened it, selected Wireless Installation, selected "Install the printer software"(shown at the middle in the header) , selected "Add a printer", selected "P100w series", selected "Configure for printing using WiFi"(first option), clicked Next, nothing shows up
    Downloaded HP Smart Install Update Utility, opended it, selected my P1102w printer, successfully updated Smart Install
    I've repeated all the above steps, nothing works. 
    So, there are two ways I can configure my printer: 
    Connecting it to the computer and using its internal Smart Install utility, which doesen't shows up for me
    Installing the bundle from point 8, which also doesen't work when trying to configure my printer. Also it doesen't install any other software. 
    Tried all of this on three computers. What is the matter?

    Did you disconnect your printer and remove the device before running the install software mentioned in step 8? If not, try that, and let me know what happens.
