Wireless ip camera setup

How do I setup a wireless camera on the airport time capsules

You need to create a wireless network on the AirPort Extreme, and then you probably will want to assign a compatible static LAN IP address to the camera so that you can port-forward from the router to the camera.

  • Hi I just purchased a WVC54GCA wireless video camera I am having a problem with the setup software

I just purchased this wireless video camera and I am trying to set up the wireless key.  I have put in the SSID and then the option of WEP (128 bit) or 26 character key.  I then try to input the 26 character key and the text box can't take that number so I am supposed to click next and enter the key on the next page..... only it is at the last page where you would save the settings and I don't see anywhere to edit it.  I know I get a bit hurried is there something I am missing??  I would appreciate any assistance you can offer.  Thanks a ton

If you are trying to configure your Camera using the Setup disk, you can exit from the setup and configure all the settings on your Camera Manually.Follow the Instruction below to Configure your Camera manually..
    1. Connect your Camera to a computer, click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections - Right click on the icon for Local area connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the following IP address'- Provide IP Address - 192.168.1.5, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0...Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...
    2. Now open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.115.
Use admin for both Username & Password in lower case...It should open your Camera set-up...
    3. Once you get to the set-up page you can follow this link to change the Camera Settings...While changing the Camera settings you have to make sure that the Wireless Settings(SSID/Network Name and WEP/WPA Key) are identical on both the devices(router and camera)...Also make sure to change the camera's default IP to match your network and Gateway Address should be your router's address...ex. Camera's IP Address : 192.168.1.115(assuming your router's default address is 192.168.1.1), Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1.
    4. After configuring the Camera you should disconnect it from the Computer and go into Local Area Connection TCP/IP Properties and set it back to Obtain IP Address Automatically...Disconnect the Camera from the computer and power cycle both the devices(Camera and Router)...Your camera should be configured...
In case if you don't get the Camera set-up just leave it connected to your computer and reset it for 30 seconds...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Follow Step 2, Step 3 & Step 4...
Click Here and follow the instructions to configure the camera with the Wireless Settings.

  • LAN IP keeps changing on my wireless internet camera using Linksys E1200 router

Although it was working fine for about a month the LAN IP for my wireless internet camera now keeps changing almost on a daily basis for no apparent reason.   I am currently away from home and am unable to access the camera for live coverage until I determine and reset the IP.   Fortunately the camera is working and still sending emails on motion detection which includes a note with the IP which I then can use remotely access my local computer and then to the camera for live coverage but this is a time consuming method.    To be able to get access from my current location I then have to remotely log on to my home E1200 router and change the address in the port forwarding section of the routers setup program in order to use the new IP directly.
I know I could have avoided this problem by seting up the camera with a static IP but for some reason I had a problem doing so and due to time limitation I ended up accepting the dynamic IP assignment.
What could be causing the change and more importantly is there anything I can do to the router setup to minimize the problem?

There hasn't been a power failure at my house in over 3 weeks at least none that my UPS system has sensed but there have been many camera IP changes during that perioid .    Perhaps there has been some local power interuption to the camera or the router.   I wonder if a local power sag or surge might be sufficient for the camera to restart.   I guess further investigation will have to wait til I return and regardless of what I find I'll switch to a static IP for the futrue.

  • 110 Wireless Security Camera Solution

Listed below is what we need to quote our end user (school)....if the setup is even possible.
    110 Wireless IP Cameras (2.8Gbps)
    DVR/Server/Routers
    Any other necessary hardware
Does anyone have any insight on this topic?  I haven't had the opportunity to quote any surveillance systems this large before.
    Thanks!

There are some challenges in reaching a 110 camera solution.  Things you need to plan for with a Cisco Small Business solution:
    * You have two options for the wireless camera.  WVC210 & WVC2300.  For security applications include low-light & no-light (with IR illuminators) conditions, the best option is the WVC2300.  You can also customize the lens on the WVC2300 to match your field of view needs for each individual camera.  Both WVC210 and WVC2300 are indoor cameras.  If you need cameras outdoors, the PVC2300 and PVC300 are excellent options which support POE.
    * For management software, all the cameras come with SWVMS16.  This has the ability to manage, view, record, and playback 16 cameras at once.  For a 110 camera solution, you'd need to deploy 7 windows computers running SWVMS16.  Technically feasible, but managing each application would a burden.  If you can break down the monitoring into sections/categories that might make this step easeier.  Even the common 3rd party Video Management Software from ONSSI, Nuuo, & Milestone don't scale to 110 cameras without having to buy their enterprise level central management system software.
    * Besides the video management software, you'll need enough storage capacity to store the video.  This will depend on the complexity of the video stream (how well the codec can compress the data), resolution, and frames per second.  If we assume 250Kbps per camera x 110 cameras = 27500 Kbps total.  You'd need over 6TB of storage to hold just under 21 days of video.  You'll want to make sure the data is protected in a NAS or server with RAID.  You'll also need to make sure the NAS or server can handle the incoming bandwidth.  If not you'll need multiple storage devices.
    * You need wireless access points that can handle the number of clients and bandwidth needed.  Will depend on physical layout of the 110 cameras.
    * You need switches to connect all the access points to the network.
There is definitely alot to define in a solution this large.

  • Airport extreme wireless ip camera wlan details

i am trying to setup a wireless ip camera. i can connect to camera with ethernet cable plugged in. i am having trouble setting it up to connect wirelessly. i need to set a wireless ip address, subnet mask and gateway, how do i find these setting on my airport extreme so i can connect camera wirelessly?

  • Foscam wireless ip camera

I have a Foscam FI8918 wireless ip camera. I have a new airport extreme base station. The camera was previously set up on a linksys router and I had dyndns host a static ip so I could access the camera from the internet. Since installing the new Airpprt extreme I have been unable to set this camera up. Please give me instructions on how to do this exclusively with my iMac. I have the ip camera tool on my iMac and can see the camera when plugged into the Airport extreme via ethernet cable. I am, however, unable to see the camera via wifi after following the instructions. I did spend around 5hrs setting this camera up with a pc running windows xp and the linksys router. The airport utility and airport extreme are just a bit different and I am just learning how to use them. Any hel would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I am assuming that your wireless camera is accessible via a web browser on the local network.
Start the AirPort Utility > Select the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn).
    Select Manual Setup.
Verify that Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address is selected on the Internet > Internet Connection tab.
Select Advanced, and then, select the Port Mapping tab.
Click the plus sign to add a new port mapping.
For Service, leave the default; this will change to "Custom" once you start entering port values.
In the Public UDP Port(s) and Public TCP Port(s) boxes, type in a 4-digit port number (e.g., 8888) that you choose. In the Private IP Address box, type the internal IP address of your camera. In the Private UDP Port(s) and Private TCP Port(s) boxes, enter the appropriate port values that should have been provided to you by the camera manufacturer. Click Continue.
In the Description box, type a descriptive name like "Internet Camera Access," and then, click Done.
    Click on Update.
To connect to the shared Camera from a remote location using a Mac or PC:
    Start your favorite web browser.
Enter the dyndns-provided Domain Name, followed by a colon and the Public port number that you choose in step 7 of the previous procedure. For example: http://www.mydyndnsdomainname.com:8888

  • Connecting a wireless nanny cam to iMac - no RCA connection

I have just migrated from the PC to Mac world. I have a wireless nanny cam that I use to record to my PC (like a DVR) by installing in my PC a DVR/PCI card that has RCA input jacks. A receiver would connect into the RCA jacks and thus receive the wireless camera signal. I now use an iMac
Obviously I can't install a PCI card on my iMac and it doesn't have RCA inputs either, so how would I receive a signal on my iMac from a wireless camera? It is not a camera that has its own IP address. I thought that since the latest iMacs are able to pick up wireless router signals for internet connectivity, that it could also be configured for a wireless camera that transmits a signal. Do I have any hope? FYI, the software used to manage the camera recordings is called Pico 2000.

You can use El Gato's EyeTV 250.
It has RCA input so you can hook up your Nanny Cam receiver and record to your HD.
Plus, you can connect your cable TV and watch and record shows on the iMac.

  • Wireless Network Cameras

Can anyone explaing to me step-by-step, how to attach a wireless video camera to my network and have my Mac recognize it. I just returned to amazom.com my Linksys wvc54g cause mac won't recognize it. I would like to use Evocam or Security Spy, or IveZeen in order to record wireless video.
Is anyone out there knowledgable about this keeping in mind that most of us are novices at networking. I set up my Linksys router to my Airport extreme card in my G5, and it's working fine. Only, I want to purchase a wireless camera, ( a D-Link 900W I hear works).
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I have been using Macs since 1984 so I am a little familiar with all the other aspects of my G5.

  • Wireless security cam

    hi,
I am planning to install several wireless security cams at home, and the one from linksys seemed  a good choice to me.
I am looking for a specific feature that I am not able to find any explanation on. In the features I see that I am abe to watch live immages remotely, and record those live images. What I am also looking for, is that the system can automatically takes and record immages, even when I am not connected to the cam.  assumethat there is a stranger in  our house, I wantthose images t be recorded at a later stage so that I can see who has been there.
Is that possible with the linksys cam?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,

Yes,using the motion detection feature on the linksys camera it is possible...Some good linksys camera are WVC54GC,WVC54GCA,WVC80N.

    Which OS is installed?
I recommend that you uninstall the printer software from the HP folder in start-->All Programs -->HP --> uninstall software
After the uninstall is completed and your system restarted install and configure the printer again.

  • Wireless Security Camera for mobile phone

    hi everyone,
i would like to know can we provide wireless security camera for mobile phones. is there any service providers for that.
    please clarify me.
    thanks in advance

I asked because we do not want to recommend any cams that may confuse you even more.  The more details we have on why you are confused the better.
Check out this website which may offer some suggestions:  www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage1.html.  EZJim's site mostly deals w/iSight and various other video methods.  He actually hangs out in the iSight forums which is where you can possibly post to him.  He's there quite regularly.  He's the most likely person here who can perhaps offer you many suggestions.
Over in the QuickTime forums there is QuickTimeKirk, another video expert.
    Good luck!

Is there a wireless security camera that requires no PC, just works directly with my Mac & new Airbase ?

I briefly tested SecuritySpy and it seemed to work pretty well. If that doesn't seem to fit your needs, you search MacUpdate for something like "security camera" you'll find other applications.
