Wireless iTunes syncing stopped working

I used to be able to sync my iOS devices wirelessly with iTunes.  A version or two back, that stopped working.  I now have v11.2.2 (3) under OS X 10.9.3
I have tried unchecking, quitting and restarting and rechecking 'sync wirelessly' for each device.
The devices often appear in the leftmost panel when I start iTunes but selecting them causes a progress bar to appear and after 30 secs disappear and the device name is dropped from the list. This worked reliably for many years but stopped some months back after an iTunes update.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • Itunes sync stopped working a while back

Itunes Sync with my iphone stopped working properly ever since I upgraded to my IPHONE5... way back.  At the time I had to do the steps below in order to get all my music to sync over.
Backup and then Restore to factory settings
restore my phone from the backup
This process takes forever in my case because I have many apps and about 2000 songs
There had to be a less painful method.  Seems the problem is rooted in the fact that Itunes thinks there are songs on the Iphone when they actually are not.
The next time I had to go through this I came up with the method below... a little more involved but at least it took about 2hours compared to 8hours due to the time taken to reload my apps.
Uncheck the sync music in the Itunes summary. (also uncheck the sync books, and sync photos - upload your photos to the cloud first)
Wait for the audio files stored in the summary bar to go down to zero.  If it doesn't quite make it and if you still have songs on the phone delete manually.
Start Itunes match on my phone (in case the number of songs to manually delete is overwhelming)
    reboot my phone
Stop Itunes match on the phone
Reboot my phone (all this in an effort to make sure ITUNES realizes there are no songs left on my phone)
If there are any songs, books or movies on my phone the delete manually shouldn't be too many at this point.. in my case less than 100 songs.
Delete audio books, movies, and photos
    Reboot my mac/pc
Reboot my phone (one more time to make sure)
At this point your phone should be clean
Itunes should agree and indicate in the summary bar that no songs, books, music videos, and photos are on the phone.
Uncheck automatically sync in the summary
    Uncheck sync over wifi
Be sure itunes match on the phone is off
    reboot the phone
    reboot the mac/pc
    start Itunes
plug your phone into the mac/pc
select sync with books (if any)
If that goes well, after your books are synced then...
Select sync music and music videos in the summary tab
    this should go well....
sync your photos... I personally decided to leave them in the cloud
never sync your phone with your itunes again... lol.. otherwise you have to go through this whole process again.
now with my IPHONE 6plus... my itunes library just on it's own started gettiing messed up even though I just plugged the phone into my mac without syncing.
Soo.... reluctantly I will have to go through this process again.
By the way,... if it doesn't work... you're looking at the first method I described which involved the restore of the phone.
In either case... never auto or wifi sync your phone again with Itunes...Unless they someday decide to address this issue.

I don't know why it would not be there, so thescreenshot I inserted will probably not be of much use. However, this is what it looks like on my computer (see inserted image) .
As far as the location of the folder and file, the following is precisely where it is located:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
Just now, when looking for it on my computer, I initially made the mistake of not looking for or going to the "common files" folder. Do you have this folder and did you look in it if so?
This probably will be of no help to you, but I hope that it will.

  • My itunes sync stopped working when I got the new iphone.  How to fix it?

My Iphone 4 worked great.  It synced with my itunes perfectly. I;d buy a song on my computer and moments later it would also show up on my iphone.  I thought I configured all the boxes correctly when I got the new iphone but now the wifi sync feature seems to have stopped working.  I went back and checked and it appears all the right boxes are checked but still no sync.  When I go to wifi sync in settings it says it has to be plugged in, locked and the home comuter available.  I tried that and it still wont wifi sync.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  Help please.

Stopped working as in it's totally unresponsive?
Try restarting. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPod -- iTunes sync stopped working

I recently bought a new computer and moved the hard drive containing my music library to the new machine. I installed iTunes on the new computer and everything seemed to be working fine. Changes in iTunes are correctly syncing to the iPod. However, changes I make on the iPod (ratings, play count, podcast position, etc.) are not being synced back to iTunes. This worked fine on the old computer. Any ideas why my sync is only one-way on the new computer and what I can do to fix it?

  • Outlook/iTunes sync stopped working 12.1.0.71 [Solved]

The official iTunes Version 12.1.0.71 for Windows 64 (iTunes6464setup.exe) is broken.  It is missing important file(s) related to outlook sync.
    Symptoms:
It will appear as if iTunes does not know anything about your outlook PST file.  Nothing would sync.
    Fix:
    1. Remove all products from Apple from your machine.
    2. Get previous version of iTunes and re-install.  For me, iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards) worked.  This is still 12.1.0.71 but the file is named as iTunes64setup.exe.  I downloaded it from this link.
Apple's level 2 support engineer had no clue.  He had me jumping through the hoops.
I found the root cause of this issue in a log file.
    C:\Users\<Your user id>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\asl.231214_12Feb15.log.
    [5056 @ Thu Feb 12 23:15:30 2015] [com.apple.Outlook.client:AppleSyncMapiInterface ASLog] |Error| Failed launching separate process: AppleSyncMapiInterfaceHelper_x64.exe.
I hope this post saves you time and frustration.

    2. Get previous version of iTunes and re-install.
That's not really a previous version, is it? It's the same version but it's for older video cards. I'm asking because I tried downgrading from version 12.1.0.71 to version 11.x. iTunes 11 failed to launch. I'm guessing version 12 changes iTunes database and version 11 can no longer read it.
As a side note, version 12.1.0.71 (iTunes6464setup.exe) also has a problem syncing JPG photos. It refuses to sync some JPGs. There's no specific pattern which JPG iTunes fails to sync.
I did find the error in the same log as you mentioned, one [Error] for every JPG photo that fails to sync. If there are 5 photos that doesn't sync to my iPad, there are 5 [Error] in the log. I can't provide the error details at the moment because I don't have (my home) PC with me right now.
I have not tried iTunes64setup.exe version (for older video cards). I just ignore the problem.

When I click on any of my movie or TV shows in Itunes I immediately get an error message that says Itunes has stopped working and closes the program. I can sync the movies and shows to my phone okay but I can't watch on Itunes. Can anyone help?

  • I just received a refurbished replacement iphone and now while syncing I get "itunes has stopped working"...help???

I just received a refurbished iphone the the insurance provided by a major electronics retailer.  Since i have tried to sync it to iTunes I have received "iTunes has stopped working" error.  It says it will come back with possible solutions, but never does a thing.  I have already removed and again installed iTunes, QuickTime, etc. to no success.  Not sure what my next step should be.

This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

  • ITunes has stopped working error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  Why?!

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer.  iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups.  It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me".  Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do?  Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..

  • "iTunes Has Stopped Working" when syncing iPod Touch

So in the last few days, I've been getting an error message when I try to sync my iPod Touch 2g with software version 3.1.2. After a few seconds, I get this error message "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." It only happens when I plug in my iPod for syncing.
I've been up and down the message boards here looking for a solution and I can't seem to find anything that works. I've uninstalled/reinstalled quicktime, then the iTunes software, I've deleted and remade my iTunes library file... I'm just at a loss. Here's the error information windows gathered up...

  • While trying to sync my iPod Touch (2nd gen), it will only sync about 5-15 songs before saying "iTunes has stopped working."

I just got some new songs, and want to put them on my iPod. I connected it to my laptop, and iTunes opened and automatically started to sync my songs. It only synced the first 8, then displayed an error message saying "iTunes has stopped working." The only option was to close the program, so I did. I then tried at least ten more times, with the same results. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but nothing is working. Please help!

  • Windows vista tells me iTunes has stopped working when I try to sync iPod

I recently downloaded the newest version of iTunes (8.0.2.20), thanks to its incessantly asking me to. Since I downloaded, every time I attempt to sync to my iPod classic, Windows tells me iTunes has stopped working and forces me to close the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if it's taboo on these boards or not, but this is just a friendly "bump" to see if it might catch the eye of someone who has discovered a fix for this behavior.
I did discover a couple of suggestions in my research, neither of which proved helpful to me. The first was to disable the sync function for contacts with Outlook (no joy). The second was to delete the Sync Services folder (which I "temporarily" deleted, but still no joy).
I have found resources that purport to provide sync control over your iPod without using iTunes. They look to be about a $40 gamble, but I may have to try that route (but would really hope that one of the smart people here would have ideas beyond Apple's "elementary "R's"").

  • ITunes has stopped working when syncing iPad Air.

    Please:  someone help me....
I am at my wits ends.  I have spent 3 days trying to solve this, without any success.  I have really time better off than sorting stupid software problems.   (Someone had a great rant, so I won't rehearse it - but it seems to me that
if there is an issues, it should at least give some clear of what the software stops!!).  It seems to me that no one (NO ONE) is owning this problem  There are plenty of people who have the problem, and although some suggestions, it looks to me that
there are just that - suggestions.
I have posted my problem on the Apple forum.  I have not heard.  But it seems to me that we (I) don't even know if it is an iTunes or a Windows problem.  and now I have no idea which way to go....
    Rant two ends.  The problem:
I have windows 7 SP 1.  iTunes 12.0.1.26.  I can imports CDs and play music.  But when attempting to sync,"iTunes has stopped working". It stops (usually) step 6. No doubt many of people have seen the issue.  I problem have
not attempting to update since updating iTunes 12.  (On the side, I have not been able to update iTunes without deleting and reinstalling it for some.  Accordingly, I update with some concern, and only updated to 12 because I installed a new (different
laptop), and wanted to keep the same levels.
    The steps I tried
Sync iPad Air (iOS 8.1).  Failed.
Tried to sync iPhone 5S.  It stopped.  I then looked through the apps etc in the phone.  I noticed, that my photos were not being synced (I had an issue with memory issue some months ago - now sorted - and so checked resynced them.
Tried again, and worked.  Hmmm.  (iPhone is at iOS 8.1)
Made changes with the apps etc on the iPad to recreate the same good result.  No success.
I deleted iTunes etc (in the correct order) and reinstalled.  No success.  tried a number of times.  (one of the definitions stupid  is to try the same steps expecting a different result)
Searched google, apple and microsoft pages.  Read them all.  No one seems to have a clear answer to the problem, let alone the solution.
Backed up iPad, and restored iPad.  No success - and now, of course the thing is now in a totally uncertain state.  It won't ask for sync, but if iTunes starts, the iPad carries on.
Deleted and reinstalled iTunes etc.  No success.  Tried again (and again? - I have lost track)
Someone suggested going back to iTunes 11.4.  Tried that (once sorted out the library files have been changed).  Now, same result.  (it all worked happily previously)
Tried a hard reset on the iPad.  No luck
Discovered one post suggest that QuickTime may be a problem.  Deleted iTunes and Quick Time.  Reinstalled iTunes.  No success.

    HELP!!
iPad Air, iOS 8.1.2, Windows 7

    Try Googling "sync without iTunes".
There are free alternatives and there are not so free alternatives.
Btw, to check if AVG is causing the problem, you should uninstall AVG and not just "turn it off".
Also, can you describe how you go about uninstalling a program? For example, how did you "delete" iTunes?

No success.
Discovered turingtest's post "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows" .  Followed the steps, including deleting the folders (only Program Files (x86)/common files/apple were there) and turned off AVG.  Same bad result.
    Status:
I am thoroughly out of sorts.  And it is Tax time, which improve my temper.
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 installed. iCloud installed
windows 7 SP1.  The PC is not asking for any updates.
    Qucktime not installed
    iOS 8.1.2
iPad is probably useless, until problem solved - not all photos or apps downloaded
    HELP!!
