Wireless kept disconnecting itself.
Im using Macbook Pro 15" retina display 2.3GHz, and after i've updated my OS X to Yosemite, i have problems with my wireless connection, it kept disconnecting itself and i have to manually re-connect it back to my home wifi.
It disconnects about 8-10 minutes once. this really annoys me, before this i don't have this problem. This is my first time experiencing such thing. And i'm pretty sure it's not my home wifi problem, as other devices works just fine.
Does anyone has the same problem with OS X Yosemite?
Same problem here ... and it is definitely a Yosemite OS issue as I do not have this issue using Win 7 (utilizing Bootcamp).
My setup:
Macbook Pro Retina (v1), Yosemite OS 10.10.1 (all the latest updates as of today), Bootcamp, Win 7 64bit
I also have some other issues with other third party software under Yosemite; but not with Win 7.
Didn't have these issues with Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Snow Leopard.
Hope Apple can remedy these issues soon.

Why does my iPad keep disconnecting itself from my Wi-Fi
A couple of weeks ago I noticed my iPad had disconnected itself from Wi-Fi, so reconnected and thought nothing of it. The next time I turned it on, it had disconnected again (Wi-Fi was still on though) so I clicked in to settings again and back onto my network. All works fine - good - but then the NEXT time I turned it on (from sleep, not fully off) it had disconnected AGAIN.
This has now become the norm for my iPad. Constantly disconnecting itself from the network and doesn't reconnect automatically when I fire it back up.
Can anyone think what might be causing this, it's pretty annoying.
(I've tried switching it off fully and back on. No dice...)Hi,
Try changing your security options on your router to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. You will need to log into your wireless router to change this.
It worked for me. Before it was dropping frequently and after the change, it is still connected over a day later.

Can anyone from APPLE help us? Just recently the ipad 2 has been disconnecting itself. WE have had NO issues for 1 year. All other Apple products in the house are running fine from same router/wifi. Did Apple suddenly do something to ipad that is causing this disruption??
You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

My Macbook keeps disconnecting itself from the internet
Recently, I bought a Macbook Pro in September and ever since I got it, the connection with the internet have been weird. It keeps disconnecting itself from the internet. I know it's not my router or home internet because my Touch and other laptops have a consistent connection. The Airport icon has a full bar. I can reconnect, but I have to go to Network Diagnostics constantly to connect back to the internet, only to be disconnected 10 seconds later.
Out of desperation, I figured I do a clean install of Snow Leopard (why not since my Macbook is new anyways)! The problem is still there, the Macbook is updated to Version 10.6.1. Can someone help please? Is it my network settings? Is anyone else having this problem? AhhhhSame problem, however my internet tends only to disconnect upon awakening after an extended period of sleep or after several hours of use. The problem does not occur when I connect to my schools network. I'm not sure whether the problem lies with my airport extreme - it works fine with other computers and registers with a green light even when faulty on my MBP. Also, simply turning the airport on and off does not always work for me - at some stages I have had to reset it - still to no avail. Connecting the base station to my computer by the ethernet connection does however re-establish the wireless connection on occasion. Also, I find after long periods of use my usually full airport connection drops a few bars and the internet slows down. Restarting the computer fixes this! Anyone got any idea where the problem lies??

hi guys, my i-pod mini 'disconnects' itself from the PC. i plug it in the USB, it says 'Do Not Disconnect' as expected, then after a few moments, it sort of disconnects itself - the PC can't see the i-pod anymore and the i-pod is already displaying the main menu...
how does one solve this? i read about reformatting the i-pod, but i think the i-pod has to stay connected to the PC if i'll run the software update, is this correct? so that's not an option for me i think...
thank you in advance! It seems like your iPods dead; they're really is hardly anything you can do to fix it.

okay, since you've got a Toshiba laptop, let's check to see if you can get it to sync properly if the highspeed interfaces are disabled. (let's not try a restore just at the moment.)

FIOS and Wireless Connection Disconnecting
I now have Verizon FIOS and only on my MacBook Pro the wireless keeps disconnecting after 5 minutes of inactivity. I tried testing connectivity on a Windows laptop and on an iPad and there are no issues. I called VZ and they said this is an Apple Macbook issue as they ran diagnostics and all the tests and configurations were all set correctly. Does anyone else have this issue and is there any solution?
Thanks.greener wrote:
so I just got the blazing fast Fios last week and love everything about it except about 50% of the time I need to restart my laptop (which is hooked up wireless) in order to connect. When I initially connect it shows that it is connected but cannot receive anything in a browser. The remedy is a restart. but I only need to do this about 50% of the time.
Interestly, If I am having problems and cannot connect I can still receive a skype ping (but cannot browse to any pages using FF or IE)
I called tech support and they were very nice but did not solve.
Anyone else with this?

Sounds like an issue on your laptop. Can you ping anything outbound? It sound like the DNS on your laptop is not connecting properly, or the network arp cache is hosed. If you're using XP or Vista you should be able to "repair" the network connection without having to restart the laptop -- this is essentially what a restart will do for you relative to network issues without having to restart. Right click on the network icon in the right toolbar area and select Diagnose and Repair. -

My wireless mouse disconnects after a long sleep time, always overnight, and pushing buttons, replacing batteries, etc. doesn't wake it up again. I have to reboot the machine, sometimes losing data, in order to make it work again. I am kinda new to mac, so hopefully I am just missing something easy.
Maybe something here will help:

ISight voluntarily disconnects itself
Hi,
I'm using MacBook Pro 15" 4,1 version. I'm using Hardware Growler, so I'm notified when a device is connected/disconnected from my Mac.
After updating to 10.6.3 my internal iSight started disconnecting itself on regular bases. It's more probable when I'm using it, for example with flash youtube video recorder (stable version of flash player and the new RC version as well). Sometimes it happens even when I'm not using the iSight at all.
It disconnects, connects, disconnects, connects and sometimes it ends on disconnecting itself and the only way to reconnect it is to reboot, but sometimes it ends on connecting itself and it works fine for a few hours and then the whole process happens again.
No, it is not showing up in System Profiler when it's "disconnected". I even disassembled my Mac to reconnect the cable, but this was not effective.
Any ideas ?

You've never had the issue before?

If you keep a program like Photo Booth open for a while, do you still get disconnects?

You've voided any warranty coverage you may've been entitled to.

IPod automatically disconnects itself within 5-10 seconds.
Hi All,
I've been having some problems connecting my 5th Gen iPod to my new MackBook Pro. The iPod was synced to my old MacBook (I think it was the first black MacBook model) and worked perfectly fine. When I tried connecting it to my Pro for the first time everything went swell until about 500 songs in when the iPod suddenly disconnected (with the error message asking me to eject before disconnecting). I could no longer see it in iTunes and it returned to the state where it's not plugged in and not charging. I reconnected it and tried again and it happened a lot sooner. After trying multiple times, the time it takes for the iPod to automatically disconnect itself is about 5 to 10 seconds.
I've tried multiple cords and have connected the iPod to multiple computers, which leads me to believe that it's a problem with the iPod and not the computer or the cord. I've restarted the computers, restarted the iPod, attempted to restore the iPod (but it doesn't last long enough in the dock for it to work) and played around with the disk mode setting in iTunes. The only thing I have running when I attempt to connect is iTunes. Also, I was able to synced my iPhone to iTunes with no problem at all.
Any suggestions? Thanks! You get 90 days of free phone support after that there is a charge.
From your description your iPod may have developed a hardware problem and need to be fixed. If you bought it it August it is still under warranty so repair would be covered.
You could try some troubleshooting suggestions.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings to see if that helps.
Turn your iPod off and restart it (press on/off button for 5 seconds or so until power off indicator appears).
Reset your iPod (press on/off button and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears).
If none of this helps you can try doing a restore on your iPod (make sure you have a backup). See iTunes to do this.
Good luck. -
IPod Classic immediately disconnects itself
I have owned my iPod for not even a year, and I have not done anything to it to cause disruption or error or anything of the sort. Yet when I plug it into my Macbook to sync (or any other iMac or Macbook, checked with multiple cords as well), it will immediately disconnect itself. It is not recognised by my computer, iTunes does not automatically open, it does not charge and I am unable to even reset it to factory settings as I can't access it at all. I am rather frustrated that this is happening to a new device. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey DaDann,
Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. The following resource(s) outlines relevant troubleshooting for this issue, it may provide a solution based on your operating system:

Ipod disconnects itself from computer
I've had my ipod for two years now but i haven't used it for over a year. My ipod would overheat when I went walking and three quarters of my songs either wouldn't play or would freeze halfway through. So i stopped using it and finally i dragged it out again this year (I got it xmas '04). I deleted everything on it and started from scratch, redoing everything on my computer BUT whenever I plug it in, the ipod takes 15mins on the DO NOT DISCONNECT screen then just appears with an apple. when the apple appears my computer then says that I need to reformat my ipod but I can't because it disconnects itself and then my computer says I need to plug in my ipod when it is plugged in! Can anyone offer any solutions on this as I would like to start using my ipod again.....The battery charges fine and it works but I can't put any music on it because of the above difficulties.

IPod disconnecting itself.
I've been using my ipod as a portable hard drive for quite sometime now. I use it on my work pc and on my home pc with very few problems (or at least, no problems I haven't been able to solve myself yet).
This morning I hooked up the ipod to the pc at work as per usual and everything seemed fine. Then when I went to access the ipod in My Computer it wasn't there. I've had things similar to that happen before so I just disconnected and reconnected it. Everything worked fine for about 1 minute then in the middle of moving a file it just disconnected itself. Whenever I connect it to the pc it will disconnect itself in about a minute. It definitely connects because I can see it in iTunes and in My Computer.
It shows up in iTunes and stays there until I try to access some settings. I can't Restore it because it disconnects in the middle of the Restore. I've tried rebooting the ipod, the machine, restoring the ipod...none of it works.
I'm in the process of reinstalling iTunes to see if that solves the problem.
Through all of this the ipod still works perfectly fine as an ipod. I just can't hook it up to the pc at all to update it. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's disconnecting itself as soon as iTunes is finished with its initial update that occurs as soon as you hook up the iPod but I haven't confirmed that yet.take it to a apple store, the hard drive is going. I had this problem and when i took it to the apple store, they replaced it with a new one.
