Wireless key change
Hi, I am attempting to change my wireless key setting on my bt home hub (1.5) but after following instructions the original number keeps returning. Any advice on how to change the key number would be much appreciated thank you.
Try using a different web browser, I seem to remember there were some issues with certain web browsers not executing the scripts properly.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

Press the Num Lock key to enable the numeric keypad in Windows. If your keyboard doesn't have a key labelled Num Lock, try the Clear key.

Changing wireless keys in WAP4410N WDS network
Hello
Few days ago I configured one WAP4410N to work as AP, and two others to work as WDS Repeater (Security Mode: WPA2-Personal). Everything work OK: I have huge range and good WiFi performance.
But I wonder if I did something wrong or it is normal situation, that I must change wireless key on every WAP4410N (working as WDS repeater) in my network?
I thought that only thing i must do is change wireless key on "first" WAP4410N, which work as AP.
Should I configure my devices in another way?
When I make similiar configuration on cheap Edimax devices Wireless Key was not needed on Repeaters. I think it is logical, because repeater only amplifies the signal
Thanks in advance for any answer.Tim Kietzmann wrote:
Hello everyone,
hi Tim !
Maybe a final hint: I read online that the encryption should be set to WEP (better than nothing I thought), but the TC does only give the security options "WPA/WPA2 Personal" or "WPA2 Personal" and not the option of WEP security. How can this be?!
launch airport utility and select +manual setup+ for your TC. go to the wireless tab and option-click on the +wireless security+ pop-up menu. you should now see the option for WEP.

my wireless key board doesn't seem to communication with my computer even though bluetooth shows it is connected. I have changed the batteries on the keyboard and when turn on the key board the green lights comes on shortly and disappears. Can any one help?
Hey Annar99,
I found a few articles that might help with the issue you're encountering. These first two are if the Bluetooth keyboard you're using is the one that came with your iMac. The first is a general "how to" for setting up your Apple Wireless keyboard, while the second one is for troubleshooting if the advice in the first article isn't working:
Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1809
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
If, on the other hand, you're using a third party keyboard, then I would take a look at the following article's troubleshooting section:
Bluetooth Quick Assist

Hope that helps,

I think I need to change the wireless network key on bt home hub 2.0. Received an email to say broadband usage is up and think my neighbour is using my network. Would this prevent further usage?
You need to check what encryption you are using. None allows anyone to log in. WEP is flawed and can be hacked into in minutes. The various flavours of WPK are pretty secure and hard to hack. Log in to your home hub (http://bthomehub.home/) and look around for the Wireless settings. You can change the encryption and wireless key as desired.
Pick a really obscure wireless key for best security. You will need to disconnect and reconnect any wireless computers. -
i am trying to connect my ipad to my bt home hub have put in wireless key code but not connecting
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Been given the wrong SSID/wireless key information...
Hi there.
On Wednesday I had BT infinity installed and everything started working straight away, all blue lights etc. however the network SSID that I had been given didn't match any on the wifi networks on my laptop/iPad etc. I've set up a wired connection and that's working fantastically, but no wifi. Been on the phone numerous times and BT have said, firstly that the order had not been processed, then earlier today that they didn't know what the issue was so they would send me a new hub.
During the call today I asked whether it would be a possibility that maybe I had been given the wrong information, as I thought I'd noticed a new BT SSID pop up (I live in flats so there are numerous connections), but it didn't match mine. I was told that this wouldn't be the case.
Half an hour ago I decided to switch off the hub and see if that new SSID would disappear. It disappeared. Switched the hub back on, and yup, it appeared. So this new SSID is obviously mine.
Phoned but BT and tried to change my password via the BT Home Hun Manager but the admin password that I have been given is of course incorrect so I can't do that. They've said all that they can do is send out a new hub.
Surely there's a way of retrieving the wireless key without waiting for a new hub?! It's ridiculous to think they don't have that information stored or there's another way of finding it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My hub is due to be delivered and Sod's law is the day I have to do training rather than work my usual night shift so it means it could be weeks before I get my new hub.Now that aint right!
Sounds like the labels have been stuck on to the wrong hub.
And there's at least 1 other hub out there in BT land that's wrong too, or more.....
I've not found or read a way to crack the admin password, so you're stuck till it can be replaced
(And I was just checking, others have got it wrong in the past!)

We have had our Linksys set up for a couple of years. Can I go in and change Key 1 to something a little more simpler (and shorter in length)? If I can accomplish this, I assume I will need to make this key change to the other computers accessing this system, correct?
Thanks for any assistance. If you are using WEP, then you can't exactly shorten the key, as it has to be a certain length. What you can do is either choose 64 bit WEP instead of 128 if that is what's chosen, which I don't recommend, or you can configure WPA as the security type. If you do this, make sure your wireless devices support WPA before making the change.

Apple loops not folloiwng key changes
They follow tempo changes, but not key changes. Using both "green" and "blue" loops from the Loop Browswer, as well some audio takes I recorded and converted to Apple Loops using the Loop Utility. Same result for all.
Ideas? Thanks.thanks.. heres a another question now that i have it making the changes.
is there a way to select what follows the changes and what doesnt. for example
I edit my drum tracks in phatmatik and then bring the midi files into logic. I don't want them to change, because the drums sounds would be off and in some case triggering no sounds.

Hi,
This is a brand new Dell, which has Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit installed, and I re-installed all drivers, and did BIOS update as well, but when downloading Network drivers with correct Service Tag and product, I get to the installation screen where it asks to Activate Wireless Key. The Fn + PrtScr does not work, even if I go to PC Settings, Bluetooth, I can switch it on with mouse, but when using the Fn + PrtScr it does not switch between On & Off within PC Settings. So I cannot install the Wireless drivers at all, I have to Cancel Installation.
Any suggestions? The Service Tag may be listing the wrong wireless card variant. Please provide the hardware IDs so we can confirm:

my bose sounddock no longer plays as it did using my airport express - with iphone 5 or ipad mini, nada. someone mentioned holding down the wireless remote continuously? which remote has wirelesskey?
Found solution on another forum: hold the remote's wireless key down CONTINUOUSLY whilst pairing any other devices. This isn't in the user manuals. Bose ought to rectify this in any firmare upgrade...

Where can I find commands for wireless key board with my Ipad?
how do I find a command list for using my apple wireless key board with my Ipad?
you will have to power off the wireless keyboard...or go into your settings and turn off the bluetooth when you aren't using it.
the default for hte ipad is to only have one keyboard at a time. And if your ipad senses a blue tooth attached, your onscreen one will not be visible. -
