Wireless keyboard A1016 and new MacBook Pro

I have searched but can't find whether my old Apple wireless keyboard (white case) is compatible with my new MacBook Pro. My computer finds the keyboard but then asks for a passcode and it doesn't connect. Maybe I need a firmware update??

{quote}Thank you for your help.{quote}
No problem. I love my white plastic Bluetooth keyboard with the NUMERIC KEYPAD! I plan on using until I die or Apple offers another Bluetooth keyboard with the numeric keypad. I'm sure there are lots of others that feel the same way.

As Bob says, any iMap service can do this. GMail can, iCLoud mail can too.
Both of these can be used with Mail on any device.

  • Printing wirelessly with a brand new MacBook Pro and an old G4 Titanium

I have a brand new MacBook Pro set up to print wirelessly and it is working wonderfully.
The problem is my other laptop that is on 10.3.9 is not finding the printer at all. I have all the drivers needed but can not figure out what else I need to do to make this happen. I thought it might be an issue of one computer using Bonjour and one using rendezvous. Is there a way I can have both operating systems talk to the same printer on my AE network?
    Please help!

Make sure you have "authorized your New MAC" to do this if you haven't in iTunes click on "Store" then "Authorize this computer"
If thats good then there are a couple of options, First would be, Connect your iPod, Cancel the Sync when it appears. Click on "File" then "Transfer purchase from iPod"
Option 2 would be create a backup of your iTunes library on your old computer, may take a couple of CD's to do so, all depends on the size of your library. Then simply restore it on the MAC.
Option 3 (My preferred option) if your old computer is on the same network, turn on Home Sharing on both the Old and New iTunes and simply drag the music you want right on over.
Very important though that the new itunes be authorized first for any of those to work.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internet problem with New Airport Extreme base and new Macbook Pro

So I bought a Airport Extreme base station with my new Macbook pro.
My desktop system uses a DSL modem which is connected to my computer via an ethernet cable. It works flawless. I can also unhook the hard ethernet connection from the desktop and connect it to the Macbook Pro with no problems.
I then connected the ethernet cable from the DSL router to the WAN port on the Airport Base.
I have no problem gettiing the Macbook pro to set itself up on the Airport Network. I can NOT, though, access the internet. I even tried to type in the IP address for the DSL modem while connected to Airport base and can not connect to modem. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a bridging function in the Airport Base that has to be activated?
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
    Thanks,
    Danny

Make sure you perform a complete power recycle when switching network components.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the DSL modem & AEBS. (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the DSL modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, and your DSL ISP requires PPPoE for connectivity, you will need to set that up on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) as follows:
Connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, check these settings:
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
    - Account Name: <ISP account name>
    - Change password: <ISP password>
    - Always stay connected (checked)
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
No, the AEBS will no longer be required.

  • Winmagic Securedoc and New Macbook Pro for Full Disk Encryption (FDE)

Hi, I wonder if anyone had any experience with this. I've installed a seagate Momentus FDE drive (...421 series) on my new macbook pro and tried installing Winmagic securedoc to manage full disk encryption. It seems that despite all their recommendations re: hibernatemode and lidwake and sleep vs hibernation, the MBP crashes when I close the lid and then awaken it (by opening and pressing the power button). It cannot be awakened via an external keyboard either. Note that both hibernate and sleep work fine without securedoc. As securedoc appears to be the only viable FDE solution, I'd really like to get it working. Has anyone had any luck getting it to work with the new MBPs?

PGP is another alternative as I have used it for the past few years on all of my Macbook Pros. I also own SecureDoc but have not installed it on the new Macbook yet.
I do know that PGP disables hibernate during the install as it can cause problems.

  • Wireless issues with my new Macbook Pro

Just bought a new Macbook Pro, straight out of the box. Works fine with ethernet but wireless it only works in the same room as the router. Elsewhere in the house it won't connect. My other macbook and Macbook air seem to have the same setup and work everywhere around the house. What would make the new Macbook Pro not work on wireless?

    I've a Macbook Pro 15 intel & a Powerbook 17 powerPC
the Powerbook 17 connects to the Airport WiFI always the Macbook Pro 15 did not.
Noticed at work the Macbook Pro 15 always connected to the WiFI (Cisco?) the router is in the ceiling
Moved my Airport WiFI at home UP towards the ceiling (on a higher shelf-better if you could place in ceiling) was on a low shelf
Now Macbook Pro connects always connect through Airport router
My hunch ---> Macbook Pro same antenna issues as the iPhone 4 is experiencing
    the antenna engineers screwed-up
Although the Macbook Pro is smaller than the Powerbook 17 -- it ain't that smaller
try it - put wireless router in attic or ceiling -- up higher

  • No wireless network connection on NEW MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo???

When I started my 2.16 15 inch C2D up out of the box yesterday it connected to my WEP Network with Airport and my password. That lasted about 12 hrs when the connection faded, then was lost. I cannot get this thing to connect no matter what. I've read the numerous posts about this same issue with these machines, no similar abundance of problems on the MacBook Plastics. What the heck is up with Apple on this? Por Favor, I'm going to bail on this thing if I have to jump through hoops just to use wireless...Can anybody offer any help or hope, before I ebay this thing and go back to a 12in PB? I'm really disappointed in Apple.

I received a 17” MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Core Duo for Christmas. I am a long time PC user and this is an attempt to migrate over to Apple. We have two other PC laptops that connect wirelessly to our in home network via a Linksys WRT54GS v5. The Internet service provider is Cablevision and the connection is broadband cable. This router is less than a year old and has been working great with all wireless laptops including any guests.
With the MacBook Pro next to the PC laptop the PC sees the network and acquires a log on without a problem. The signal it receives is outstanding and the connection robust. The MacBook Pro sees the network with a good signal and will not connect to the Internet.
The router encryption is “WPA Personal” but I also tried WEP and No encryption – None allowed the Mac to acquire a wireless connection but every change I made in the router the PC’s connected fine. Out of frustration, I decided to just hook up a direct Ethernet cable from the router to the Mac. Again I was not able to connect. As a fair test I hooked up the laptop PC with the direct Ethernet cable and was immediately online. According to Linksys Tech support all my settings for the WRT54GS are fine and the PC’s connect wirelessly so the problem is with the MacBook Pro. I brought the MacBook back to the Apple Store and had the tech there test it using the in-store wireless and Ethernet cable connections and both worked fine. The Apple Tech reviewed a printout of all my router settings and made sure all my software screens were set correctly so when I got home all should work after the passkey was applied. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Neither the Ethernet nor wireless worked. I reset power to both the cable modem and router and sequentially reapplied power allowing each to reset. In the end, I was not able to gain access to the Internet with the MacBook Pro.
From the many posts to this support forum regarding problems with Airport Connection to the Internet I can see Apple has a problem. I’m especially dismayed by the number of posts by new MacBook Pro owners describing the same symptoms. Connecting to the Internet should be an automatic feature for Apple products but as it turns out, from my experience, it is not. After three days of frustration working on this and with both manufacturers tech support people pointing fingers at each other I felt caught in the middle with a $3000 computer unable to connect to the Internet. The MacBook Pro was returned for a refund.
This is really too bad as I had anticipated my switch to Apple for a long time. Getting away from the antiquated, poorly written XP software was something I was looking forward to. Maybe down the road I can try this again, but right now, I’m a little burned out with Apple.

  • FCP and new MacBook Pro

I've heard that Final Cut Pro will not work on the new Mac Book Pro laptops.
Has anyone else heard this? It may take some time before they get an upgrade fror this.
I'm keen to upgrade from my 17" Powerbook G4 to the new MacBook Pro for video editing, using photoshop and after effects etc. Has anyone else heard about speed improvement in this area?
    Thanks for any comment.

Yes, I believe to some degree they needed to get something out there and this is filler. I've been wanting a new 15", but will continue to use my old one. I believe it is more pro than the new MBP. I am not one of those complainers, but I live by my pci slot, especially on location, and the express/34 situation is a nightmare right now. I've read a few posts on different forums about the fw400 port not getting enough power and it being traced to the built-in isight. I don't know if it's true, but wouldn't be surprised.

  • Final Cut 4.5 and New MacBook Pro

I've been out of the loop for a while. I had a 1.5ghz Powerbook and Final Cut HD, etc. I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and was suprised to see that I could not open Final Cut Pro anymore (says I don't have an AGP card). What're my options? Thanks

You need the Intel version of FCS, which is version 2.
Should run you about $499.00 when it ships next month.
Apple has an inexpensive upgrade available for nearly fifteen months and was promptly displayed at its web site.
    That expires on March 19th.
It pays to stay in the loop I guess.

  • Airport express and new macbook pro

my daughter has just purchased a new macbook pro and we have set up the airport express. her macbook tells her that she is connected to the airport express but she can not load safari.

Hello Jodi Meyer. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
How do you have the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) configured to get Internet access? That is, do you have it connected directly to another router or modem? If so, what is the make/model number of that other device?

  • 23" Cinema HD display and new MacBook Pro

I bought my G5 and HD Cinema display in 2005 and am thinking of switching out the G5 for a MacBook Pro. Is there an adapter I can get to allow me to plug in my display to the new MacBook Pro?
    Thanks
    Q

I have had this laptop since May and have had nothing but difficulty setting it up screens with it. The mac mini DVI port *** the big one. It is trash as nothing else is compatible with it.
I bought a 24 inch Apple monitor for $999 and can only use this macbook with it. I have two other laptops and none of them are compatible with the new screen - frustrating.
I have tried to hook up the mini DVi port of the MacBook Pro to my new 40 SONY Bravia 120hz LCD screen. It won't work! My three other Mac laptops do fine. In fact my 1992 laptop using mac os 9 works with the screen. The new Mac no way!
I have bought 3 plugs to adapt to my multi screens, they had older DVI plugs. set up, now find that I need another one for the SONY. I had a mac tower G5 that I hooked up to 3 screens with no problems. Try to plug in the MacBook - crap it won't work.
I am angry. I have a $999 monitor that I can only use with one laptop and now I have TV that won't work with the MacBook.
I'm taking this POS back to the shop and buying a clone PC that will work.Mac are you listening - I shouldn't have to buy a new cord for every screen that I own!
I was going to use the Mac Book pro as a server for music and movies by hooking it up to the SONY. THat was a bust too. I'm buying a Western Digital TV box it's cheaper than all of the cables that I need.
Sorry Mac you have let me down with this compatibility issue. What were you thinking? Corner the market on stupid! Oh wait I'm the stupid one for trying to stay true to Mac and spending $3000 plus on a stand alone non compatible system.
I have a 24" screen that is not compatible with any of my other computers because MAC doesn't make patch boxes and I have MAC Book Pro that I can't use with my SONY.
Shop very carefully before you choose this model of screen and mac book.

  • Un-updated iPhone4 and new macbook pro issues

Because of issues with my old PC I have been unable to update my iPhone 4 for about a year and a half now. My old PC crashed and now I am left with an unupdated iPhone 4 and a new Macbook Pro. I have already transfered my purchased music into my new Macbook, but I am worried that when I try to update my iPhone I will lose my 1,800 some unpurchased songs. I backed up my iPhone 4 in my iTunes, and it finished backing up extremely fast so I'm left in doubt that it backed up my unpurchased music.Does this mean my unpurchased music has also been backed up? I'm aware that my iphone will have to be restored though the updating process, and eventually restored from the back up. In other words, should my new itunes library have a back up of all of my unpurchased music, and if not what should I do?

My old computer is crashed so I unfortunately cannot refer back to it although all of those unpurachased songs were indeed on there. I don't have a problem with my purchased songs. I just want to make sure when I update my iphone I will not lose my unpurchased songs. Are my unpurchased songs backed up on my new macbook if i backed up my iphone in my new macbook's iTunes?

  • Data Projector and new MacBook Pro 15"

I am about to take possession of a new MacBook Pro 15“
Which slot do I plug my data projector in?
I am a teacher and I use a data projector regularly but on looking at the new MBP I cannot see the usual plugs. Do I need to purchase new leads/cables?

I assume you are referring to the new unibody MacBook Pro. The unibody portables use the new mini displayport. http://www.apple.com/nz/macbookpro/features-15inch.html. Depending on your projector, you will need one of two adapters:
    Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

  • Captivate and new Macbook Pro Retina???

    Hello,
I just spent about $3000 on a new Macbook Pro with Retina display and am very worried indeed! Captivate 5 runs fine for editing but no for recording. When i capture a screen shot the resolution is completely wrong! It comes up all zoomed in and weird. Is this because of the amazing display on the macbook pro? Does captivate 6 address this issue? What can I do to get around it?
    Thanks

Thanks Kurrykid. A quick google search and I see that the Techsmith issues are well documented and a fix has already been released for SnagIT. How about Captivate? There is nothing online elsewhere about this issue. Is the same problem occuring with Captivate 6?
