  • Universal Wireless Keyboard 3169WWZ has letters not working

Hi all, can anyone help me. I have had the same problem with two of these keyboards. On the right hand side of the keyboard, there is a whole section that is 'dead'. The o,p, brackets, k,l,commas, periods, etc. do not register at all. I am extremely frustrated because this is the second keyboard with this problem. The first one lasted a few months and it is the same with this one. Any suggestions?

How sure are you about the one year warranty? I spent two hours on the phone with someone (who didn't seem to know his head from a hole in the ground)  who waited that long into the call to inform me that the keyboard warranty is 90 days? Is is worth another call?
<sigh>  I understand your frustration with the outsourced support group.  I've had terrible experiences with them too.
I'm holding in my hands the "Limited Warranty" pamphlet for the Universal Wireless Keyboard (Palm pamphlet#: 406-10460-00).  It states:
"HARDWARE: Palm, Inc. (Palm) warrants to the original end user (Customer) that new Palm branded products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials, under normal use, for one (1) year from the original purchase date.  Palm warrants refurbished Palm products, marked and sold as such, for ninety (90) days from the original purchase date."
I'd call back, state the obvious mistake by the CSA (and who gets PAID to know this information!) and that you'd like to speak to a supervisor, or at least someone who can read English from the pamphlet mentioned.
The pamphlet goes on to say (you should have one or two of these!) that Palm has the choice to either refund your purchase cost, or send you a reconditioned unit as a replacement if the device cannot be repaired. Dated proof of purchase will also be required.

  • Wireless Keyboard sends wrong data/gibberish to Mac

My wireless keyboard began sending random commands to my computer. Think- typing one character and three appear in a screen field; sends commands (keystrokes) to fields; and, starts activating other systems features. What I have done: replaced the batteries; deleted bluetooth keyboard and successfully re-synced three times - resulting in the same problem. No keys are stuck, not liquid has been in contact with the keyboard, etc. Apple has replaced one keyboard already due to the same situation. Hi, first I would replace the k/b batteries. 2nd I would go the SMC route. 3rd I would delete the k/b from your BT set up, then do a clean setup. Check to see if there are any pertinent Updates & Repair Permissions. After that you could try a USB k/b if that works I would suspect your BT k/b...L

  • Brand New MacB Air and i haven't been able to get passed the format which has had to be done twice because, I have a French Numeric Keyboard and Language in English.  The minute I type in my password, the keyboard gives me letters that i did NOT type.

I live in Switzerland and can only buy a Mac Air with a French or German keyboard, no chance to buy an English keyboard Mac here,.  When setting up  I chose the French numerique keyboard, although there are two choices French or French numerique.  I put in my language as English.  When all was set up I came to the start page and had to put in my password, by the grace of g....I just happened to see the first letter I typed before it turned into a dot.  My password which was supposed to start with the number 2 showed a french e with accent before it quikly became a dot.
Because of the dot system, this meant that I had no clue what the keyboard was typing as my password ...........and true enough my password was not accepted despite my trying all combinations.  I have had to reformat twice now thanks to Apple Chat and both times my password was not accepted.  I am in the process of formatting it again, this time on my own.  If the Start page does not accept my password again this can only mean that the Mac left the factory with faults.  I could not be more disappointed with the money spent and the time and trouble that Apple Chat and I have spent in trying to correct a brand new out of the box Mac.  I have a cheap Toshiba laptop also with a french keyboard and english language which gave me no trouble at all.  I am not impressed with the so called King of computers!  First of all the dot system is daft.  People want to be able to see and confirm their passwords before they are set for good.  Second,  this problem is going to give me a lot of grief.  Switzerland business is not renowned for its after sales service or the time it takes to do repairs.  When I had an issue with my Vaio laptop which was still under warranty, they kindly picked it up from my house, repaired and promptly returned it.  How's that for good proper service.

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
    do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
    exit disk utlity
    at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

  • My Apple Wireless keyboard is adding letters to things I type

It appears to be out of date so far as the warranty is concerned.  There may have been some minor detritus slipped down the side of the key.  See if you can find a buush with stiff but fine hair.   Perhaps a toothbrush.  Then brush around the key.   It is possible to remove the key if you are very careful and that would make it easier but you have to be very careful.   You are sure there hasn't been any liquid spilt; even the smallest amount can cause a drama..

  • Omni 27 wireless keyboard Problem enters letters w/o being pressed

Hi. My keyboard's gone berserk. I press down anyone key, and the 'T' letter gets entered so many times in a row, I couldn't count them. Backspace key won't function. I shut down computer, but when restarted, I can't enter my PW, because I try 1 letter & then keyboard just starts entering many (can't tell exact letter/number because the PW entering box doesn't show.) I replaced batteries in keyboard, didn't resolve. I called nearest HP authorized support location, they said they didn't have parts. Can't locate a phone number to call HP technical support. I really need to use my computer! Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hi There,
No worries about responding.  We removed a wierd program from my computer (using his keyboard), then my keyboard had many keys non-responsive.  I'll buy another one.  Just didn't want y'all to waste your time!  Best o Luck!

  • Plz help: can i type Chinese using Apple wireless keyboard????

Kind of struggling whether should i buy a wireless keyboard for my ipad air 2 as i may have lotta word job related to Chinese and French, and i know that French is okay with the English keyboard, at least much eaiser than typing Chinese characters.
So the real concern is, can i type Chinese with the wireless keyboard without any problem?
I've seen some solutions (all didn't mention if it has been proved yet or not so i automatically assume they are all just beautiful hypotheses) posted in the community claiming you just need go to settings then select the international language you wanna use, and you will be all set (in both virtual and external keyboard)----is that true??? Pleeeease help, thousands of thanks

    Hi Chloe Violette,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to use the Apple Wireless Keyboard with English letters to type characters in different languages. This can be done by changing the import sources to type in other languages, including Chinese. For information on this process, please refer to the attached article.

  • Wrong letters from wireless keyboard

    Hi,
Hopefully this is the right place to get a satisfying answer. I got an iMac9,1 with a recently bought wireless keyboard (model No. A1314). Everything worked fine, until this morning. I started the iMac, logged in and found some (not all) of the keys giving the wrong signs. For instance, 'h' becomes ˙ and '0' (zero) becomes  0/ the ')' becomes ')?'. And so are more of the keys disfunctional. In my opinion it has nothing to do with the language- or keyboardsettings. Can someone help me please? In Dutch would be great, but English or German will do as well.
    Thanks, Arno de Graaff (Netherlands)

Then I would make sure that I was still within the 14 day return policy and wipe the HDD clean and box everything up as if ready for a return. I would take it to the store and ask to speak directly to the store manager. I would explain that for a number of days you have tried to reach this store by telephone but cannot get anyone to answer. Ask if this is the normal business policy for this store? Ask for the names and telephone numbers of Apple Corporate so you can follow up with reporting this poor quality of service. I would then state my request to trade the keyboard and mouse for the wired versions. If the answer is no, then I would state that I am returning the iMac under Apple policy allowing a return within 14 days for dissatisfaction. Remain calm but firm in your conduct.
I am inclined to believe that the manager will set things right for you. If not, unfortunately they may try to charge you a restocking fee if you want to return the iMac. However, Consumer Protection laws, or even something as simple as the return policy for items purchased a bank card may be ways to avoid the restocking fee.

  • While typing keyboard starts typing wrong letters

I have checked my settings for my keyboard and have changed keyboards. I can open Pagemaker 7 & start typing, all's well. Then after a while it starts typing wrong letters & I can't use my short cuts. I also tryed reloading Pagemaker 7. I have run Malwarebytes, AVG, & Spybot. I can't find anything. It is also doing the same thing In Photoshop. It doesn't do it in any other programs besides Adobe.

I thought it was setup Default input language as English (United States).I checked and there was 2 other settings under keyboard besides US. United states-Dvorak and United States international. So I removed them. Also under Advanced Key Settings and Hot keys for imput languages - Switch between input languages was set up to work. I changed this to none. So far it has worked fine. Today is my long day at work so we'll see. Do you think that was it? How would that have gotten changed? I have done some windows updates recently that caused me problems with my display.

  • TS2634 My wireless keyboard is auto filling letters and numbers what do I do to stop this?

My wireless keyboard is auto filling letters and numbers what do I do to turn it off?

    Hi Pegfraser,
Does this happen only with the wireless keyboard and not the touch keyboard?  And which Apps does this happen with?
In general, auto fill is a settings thing.
    For Safari:  Settings, Safari, AutoFill
System Wide: General, Keyboard, Auto-Correction (may seem like auto fill)
and you can setup Shortcuts in the Keyboard settings, but you would know if you'd done that.

  • Letters zxcv won't type on my wireless keyboard.

All of a sudden the letters zxcv won't work on my wireless keyboard.

I solved my problem by going into my iPad and not only turning off the BT, but checking "Forget this Device". That as the key thing that I hadn't been doing. Then went back to my iPhone 5, settings/bluetooth and it synced to my wireless keyboard with no problem. Thanks!

What did you open if if was already opened?
As for your non-working keys, perhaps debris somehow got beneath the keys.  Especially if you were eating while using your computer.  Spilled anything on the keys lately or previously?

If none of the above applies to you, you could have a hardware issue.  If you have Apple Care, call them and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
Liquid damage is not covered under Apple's standard 1 year warranty or Apple Care.
NOTE:  If you are out of warranty and purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with.   They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).
If you have Homeowners insurance, place a claim with them.
