Wireless Keyboard hangs iPad when composing email

I, like most people, use the option key plus arrows in order to move through words and paragraphs quickly when editing text or composing an email. Several times I've been halfway through writing a long email and pressed an option+arrow combo only to find the Mail app has hung. The only way to get it working again is to reset the iPad, thus losing all my text. It's got to the point now that I'm composing email in Pages and then copy-pasting.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? It's incredibly frustrating.
Any advice much appreciated.

It also work on the iPad, so try to turn off/on your iPad or a reset, keep the On/off button and the Home button pressed at the same time till you see the Apple logo in your screen.

  • Email contacts don't show up when composing email

    Hi,
I recently got an iPad2 and added a couple of email accounts including gmail and yahoo mail. However, i noticed a key difference when composing email from an iPad rather than on an Iphone.
On my iPhone4 when I compose an email and in the 'To:' address field I start typing the name of my contact iphone is able to search from my contact list from my gmail account, however this does not happen on the Ipad.
Any idea how to fix this?
I have set-up my email accounts in the same way as I did on my phone.
    Thanks very much

  • Email address list populated drop down disappearing on the to / cc / bcc fields when composing emails

    First the symptoms:
As far as I can see this effects only the v5.0 RIM OS. We have a multitude of users and the ones who are affected all shared the same trait: they had newer, v5.0 OS preinstalled on their BBerries. The ones with v4.7 never had the problem (might be a coinsidence, nothing solid here)
The user cannot see a drop down of email addresses prepopulated with the recently used ones, and with the option to "lookup" the email address. User starts typing the email address, and no drop down is shown while composing email.
If the user manually types in the email address into the To, Cc or BCc fields, the adress will not be permanent and the email will not be sent at all. The "send" menu item will not be visible when the track ball is pressed.
    Quick remedy to send emails:
Hit the enter key after typing in the email address. Do NOT switch to the next row using the track ball, or pressing the trackball. Hit the enter key. Then you will be able to send the email.
Backing up the user files and wiping the handset and re-installing the OS seems to resolve the issue, alas, one user had the same problem again in a month after the operation. So that is NOT a permanent solution.
Funny fix: On the affected device, go to email options -> Options / General Options / "Show recent contacts when composing email" and just switch it to whatever is in there. If it is Yes, make it No, if it is No, make it yes. Then save. And the drop down should become visible again. Counter-intuitively, this setting was YES on on affected device, we switched it to No just for the sake of having made a change, saved the settings and the drop down became visible with the setting at "NO". When we switched it back to "YES" the drop down became invisible again

Once you have the Write window open, press F9 to open the Contact Sidebar. Select your contacts from there.

  • Attachments not showing when composing emails

    Hello.
For some reason I don't know, Mail has suddenly stopped displaying attachments I insert when composing emails. No matter what file type, it displays the Lego cube with the question mark instead of the attachment. (Note: NOT the little blue square with a question mark which indicates a file missing etc.)
However, people receive them just fine and I receive attachments just fine myself. I also receive my own attachments when I send an email to the office mailing list (which includes myself).
It is only when I compose an email that I am not seeing the things I attach. Not the correct file icon, not the file name or size, not the 'show attachments as...' option. Nothing. Just the blue Lego-type cubes with the question mark.
I have set the Preference in Composing to Rich Text, we use an IMAP server in the office but I am the only one suffering this problem and I don't know what has changed as it was working just fine until a few weeks ago!
Any help would be appreciated as it is extremely irritating, if anything because I don't know why.

    Hi,
What if you do a All Mailbox search, are you able to see the specific mail item in the result list?
You might need to check your view setting of that folder. Maybe you have it set for unread mail only, or some settings are filtering out the messages you just moved.
Just highlight the folder, then click View in the ribbon, then click
View Settings. Click Filter... button on the dialog, then clear any related settings or click
    Clear All button.
    Thanks,

  • How do you connect wireless keyboard to ipad?

How do you connect wireless keyboard to ipad?

Go to Settings -> General -> Bluetooth. Turn on the iPad Bluetooth service and then the keyboard. They should find each other.
BTW it's tricky to disconnect them. If you don't turn off the keyboard while it's paired, the iPad virtual keyboard won't work properly. Check the manual.
The green light on the keyboard doesn't stay on all the time the keyboard is on, just for a few seconds after each change of state.
The bluetooth keyboard - iPad combination is a very effective writing tool. The keyboard is very responsive.

Uhhhhh... Thank GOD... Got all of my files.
Spent some time on the phone with Apple Care... who was great to deal with but actually... not as helpful as I was hoping. It was suggested that I try DiskWarrior 4 to try to recover the files. $108 later, I had no files.
More calls with Apple Care and they were pretty sure that everything was gone since once the External drive was installed, like a moron, I let TimeMachine go ahead and back up my new MacBook... so it overwrote who knows how many gig that was my entire MacBook.
I wasn't giving up so I called Maxtor, the manufacturer of the external drive itself. They suggested file recovery software from I365... which is also a Seagate company (the makers of the drive). The suggested I simply use their demo because the demo version would find the files. If it found them, I could buy the software to restore them.
It found them! Another $129 after and I was able to restore all of them back to my old PC laptop.
NOW, I just need to figure out how to get the 50gig of HD video files off of my old laptop now and into my Mac and IMovie so I can actually make some DVDs out of them!
I get that Macs and PCs are different formats but I think it is ridiculous that formatting still means basically just wiping out or at least treating massive lots of old data as if it isn't there. There's gotta be a better way to do that.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard lost connection when "command+space" is pressed

Hi, my apple wireless keyboard lost connection when command and space key was pressed. it does not lost connection when other keys combination was pressed. Are there any people has the same problem with me?
I am using Emacs all the time, the command and space key is the default short cut for Mark in Emacs. It is constantly used in my daily work. The wireless keyboard does not lost connection always, but it does lost connection sometimes. I have observed every time it lost connection, the command + space was pressed. Really strange. Any advice?
I am using Macbook Pro 13inch Late 2012,  OSX 10.9.1, and Apple Wireless Keyboard

Got the keyboard working again, here how incase it can help anyone else:
I borrowed a USB keyboard to allow me to get past the pasword login.
First I rang disk utitlity to repair any permissions. I opended up the app 'Bluetooth Setup Assistant' selected 'Keyboard' then I turned the keyboard 'on' so the green light is flashing' and then hit continue. At this point the keyboard appears in the listing of found items, hitting continue I am then given a unique pairing code. Enter this on the keyboard and hit 'Return' after a few seconds, the pairing is complete and by wireless keyboard is back and working again!

  • Connecting an Apple wireless keyboard to iPad mini

I have an Apple wireless keyboard which I use with my MacMini and have tried to get it to work on my new iPad Mini (it is love at first sight, that is me and the iPad mini) but with no sucess.  This maybe down to me but perhaps the keyboard can only work with one machine.  Any thoughts out there?

If its paired and in range of the iMac it will auto connect to it. You may need to unpair it form the Mac mini before pairing with the iPad, or make sure the Mac Mini is off or out of range when you initate the pairing with the iPad.

  • Outlook 2011 screen loses focus / priority when composing email

When composing an email in Outlook 2011, the screen changes from being the priority / primary focus...and it's driving me nuts.  I am using an external keyboard/mouse so it's not an issue where I am hitting the trackpad.  When typing, the email window stays in the foreground; however, the focus is a different window...so it just "bonks" at me as I type the email...having to reach over to my mouse, click at the end of the sentence and continue typing.  Has anyone else run across this?  Any ideas?  Running OSX 10.8, 2.7GHz MBP Core i7 with 8GB RAM

Here is a link with a couple work arounds http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1180706. Also it appears that the issue is known as well as the cause. Thought I'd share this is driving me nuts.

  • HT4111 Wireless keyboard on Ipad

I've consistently been unable to continuously have my wireless keyboard work with my IPad AFTER touching the IPad screen.
I'll be typing away on the still connected keyboard and whenever I touch the Ipad screen and want to  go back to using the keyboard... NOTHING registers when I press any key.
    what's happening?

What kind of keyboard do you have?
Has it been paired in Settings<Bluetooth?
Have you tried using fresh batteries? (or have it at 100% charge)

  • Screen Blacks Out When Composing Email

When I am composing emails after a minute or two the screen goes black, and the phone reverts back to the home page. The pending email disappears (not even saved as a draft) anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I'll be honest.  These are WAGs.  However...
Since the Reset didn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Wireless keyboard to iPad repeating characters

My wireless keyboard periodically repeats characters making typing on the iPad 2 difficult. Got fix?

    Go to Settings app
    Select General
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
Make sure your keyboard is in discovery mode (press the silver button on the right side of the keyboard - the green light will start flashing)
In the Bluetooth section on the iPad, you should see the wireless keyboard
Select the found keyboard to pair it with the iPad
You'll be asked to type a pairing code on the keyboard - if it's entered successfully, your keyboard will be paired with the iPad (or any iOS device with Bluetooth)
Note that when you are using the Bluetooth keyboard, the normal iPad keyboard does not appear - turn off Bluetooth or the external keyboard (press and hold the button on the right side of the Apple Wireless Keyboard), or travel outside the 10-15m range of Bluetooth to go back to using the regular iPad keyboard

  • Officejet Pro 8500a wireless printer hangs up when printing document.

I have an officejet pro 8500a wireless printer and it has been working flawlessly.  Now all of a sudden it hangs up when sending a document to it.  It will say "now printing", with the red "x" and just sits there looking at me.  I have discovered that I can open the printer lid and close it and it will then print??????
Also when I click on "apps"on the printer menu screen,  it tells me, "unable to connect to the server".
    Anybody experience this problem??

I too have this issue with my HP8500a Plus.
I have managed to narrow down the issue to one of the cartridges. Whenever this cartridge is inside the printer, the issue will happen. If it's not, then the issue disappears!
I have tested this discovery on TWO different hp8500a printers, and they both react to this "special" cartridge the same way: its presence inside the cartridge tray triggers the issue.
There is only one thing that makes this cartridge any different form the other ones: even though it IS a genuine HP cartridge, it has been refilled and the max allowed page count has been hit. The issue started happening only after the max allowed page count has been hit.

  • How to use shortcut keys on wireless keyboard with ipad

i just purchased an ipad 4 with a wireless keyboard and do not know how to use the function keys on the wireless keyboard to access the homescreen, scroll up and down, etc.  please help with anything i need to turn on/off or download . thanks

If you have more than one keyboard active, you may be using a different one than you want.  Use the "globe" key to make sure your virtual keyboard is set to Japanese Romaji or Japanese Kana.  Which one do you use?
On the hardware keyboard, use apple/command plus space to switch between different keyboard layouts which may be active.
