Wireless keyboard has NO NUMBER PAD.

I will be buying a Mac mini in a few days and had planned to get the new Apple wireless keyboard to go with it. But it has no numeric pad. I need the expanded keyboard and I like wireless, so should I get the earlier Apple wireless keyboard that has it? Or is there another supplier that would be a better choice for my new mini with the latest OS? Thanks.

I ended up finding my solution at Frye's, a desktop set from Gear Head. It's Bluetooth and has the white glossy look of classic Mac hardware, and thus matches my Apple Remote nicely. They keyboard is a bit like a laptop, so don't expect the feel of a normal heavier keyboard. It does have a full key set, with the sole exception of a separate Eject key - if you hold down F12 it performs that action for you. The mouse is a bit small, but considering use with a mini as a media center, it is fine for sitting on an end table next to my remote. The only problem I've had with Bluetooth's performance in any sense is a latency when reconnecting after a long idle - you have to be patient. On the whole I am very pleased I found this product and it fulfills exactly what I wanted. I can certainly use it halfway across my house.

  • Can you tell help us... Does Apple sell a keyboard that has the number pad on the left hand side?

We want to buy an I Mac but wonder if we can get an Apple keyboard that has the number pad on the left hand side as we are both left handed.  Do Apple sell them separately?  Thanks.

    Beat me to it
There is also this one, from the Apple Store, a lot more expensive than MichelPM's choice though. (But it will function as a stand alone calculator as well as keypad for Mac)

  • My wireless keyboard has come unpaired and I can't log in to my iMac to pair it...help!!

Help...my wireless keyboard has some how come unpaired with my iMac...and since the keyboard does not work I can not log in to repair it.  Anyone know how to fix this??

You can access your Mac from your iPhone or iPad through a remote desktop client like Splashtop or LogMeIn if you already have something like this installed. Are you sure that your keyboard is 'discoverable'? (Hold button until light comes on and then goes off. Release button, then depress agin. The light will come on, hold for for about 3 seconds then let go. The light on the keyboard should be blinking in a 3 flash succession.) If it doesn't connect to the Mac after this, you'll need to get/borrow/buy a USB Keyboard (It's always good to have one of these handy anyway when you have a wireless accessory setup as your main way of connecting with your Mac).
Once you do get in to your system, be sure and go to System Preferences>Bluetooth and make sure that the 'Discoverable' box is checked. Also, go on to the Advanced pane and make sure that the box that says "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if no trackpad or mouse is detected" is Checked.

  • Apple's new wireless keyboard - why no numeric pad?????

I wanted to go buy one of those new sleek keyboards a while ago and I wanted it to be wireless. But then I found out that the wireless keyboard doesn't have a numeric pad! Why? Really, I don't see the purpose of this! I hope someone at Apple reads this and that they will start producing wireless keyboards with a numeric pad again because until then they won't see my money going to them. Anyone else who shares my opinion about this?
    Stef

I agree, the numerical keypad is not useful for me. However, I miss the delete, home, end and page up/down keys. It is annoying with the wireless keyboard to have to use backspace to delete.
Apple should either expand the current wireless model to include these keys or offer the current wired keyboard in wireless version.

  • Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts to use on a wireless keyboard without a numeric pad?

Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts to use on a wireless keyboard without a numeric pad?  What I'm missing most is the Page Up/Page Down and Begin/End functions, but a reference list for all available functions would be nice.

Yup. Best $11 you can spend:

  • WoW- Keyboard and/or number pad.

I have recently started playing World of Warcraft and I am looking at control options for my MacBook.
I tried plugging a keyboard I used for my PC into the USB on my MB and the number pad would not work. So my first question is do I need a special keyboard for my Mac?
Second, is anyone aware of a good external number pad for a Mac?
Lastly, does anyone have any favourable "setups (controllers, keyboards) " they use to control WoW.

Hmmm, sorry - I do use iMovie, but only on my iMac. You would probably get better answers if you post that question in the iMovie forum or the iPad forum.

  • My wireless keyboard has an  intermittat fault. The bluetooth connection seems to fail occasionally, preventing me from using my keyboard

Every so often it appears for no reason my wireless keyboard stops working.
During this period the bluetooth still shows it as connected but nothing on the keyboard works. Then it will start working again.
I have changed the batteries but still have the same problem.
There is no problem with my magic mouse which I connected at the same time.
    Any ideas pease.

Is the problem repeatable at specific times that you can tie with something going on that can interfere with wireless signals?
If not, might be worth a visit to an Apple Retail store genius bar for diagnosis.  Faulty keyboards are not often worth the expense of repair if that is the problem, but have to have it checked to find out.

  • Ultra wireless keyboard has a different layout when installed as to the one shown on the keyboard

I'm hoping someone here can help me: the ultra wireless slim keyboard from lenovo (comes with mouse), when installed, has a different layout then the one you can see on the keyboard.  Which is annoying the crap out of me because when i need a character i don't need much i basically am stuck with just trying out all keys untill i find it.
the layout it has is the same as the one on my notebook itself (thinkpad yoga), which does help a bit as i can find most keys, but since the wireless has more keys it's not entirely helpfull.  does anybody know how i can get the correct layout?

  • Differentiate between shortcut keys Alpha (keyboard) Enter and Number Pad (10 key) Enter

I need to be able to differentiate between the Keyboard enter and the 10 key enter (see image below) using a shortcut key in Captivate and/or Flash. These keys are used for two different reasons in the application that I am creating a simulation for.  Using ENTER allows the learner to use either key to continue with the simulation. I would like to force use of each of these keys differently.

Hi Rastapote, and welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having a problem with the numeric keypad on your HP Compaq 6830s Notebook PC. This is a business Notebook and you would get the best answer to your question on the HP Enterprise Business Community forum as they deal with the Business products.
    I hope this information helps.

  • My wireless keyboard has a few sticky keys.  They are harder to push and take longer to come back up.  I don't see evidence of a spill but I wonder if that's what happened?

I'm not sure if something got spilled on our wireless key board because I can't see any evidence but the space bar and a few other keys are sticky and take too long to come back up.  Any ideas how to fix this?

Possibly wd-40.  I haven't tried this.  The consensus off these forums is that using wd-40 may or may not be a good idea.

  • Apple Keyboard with number pad doesn't work with Mac Pro?

I have a Mac Pro, and have used an Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth) with it for quite a while, with no problems. But then my keyboard broke and I ordered a replacement Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth). This keyboard doesn't work with my Mac Pro. I have it plugged in, but I can't get the Mac Pro to consistently recognize that there is a USB keyboard connected to it. What magical stuff do I have to do to get the keyboard to be fit for purpose?

It would not hurt to try an SMC Reset. (But if it does not help, it adds credence to lllaass assertion that the keyboard is not working.)

  • Wireless keyboard - return key has stopped working.

The return key on my wireless keyboard has just stopped functioning along with the backslash key to the left of it.  Any ideas as to the likely cause, or has it just packed up? I'm having to use the keyboard viewer or the old USB keyboard for these functions - which is a pain.

    Hello:
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  If that does not help, I would suspect a failed KB.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard (white version) has stuck light and won't pair

I never usually turn my keyboard off or shut down my computer, but a change of routine compelled to do so. My computer will turn on just fine, but now the my white Apple Wireless Keyboard has a stuck green light on the caps lock and the bottom switch. It is no longer pairing and can no longer be detected through OS's Bluetooth utilities. I have tried turning it on and off, replacing batteries, and even removing it from Bluetooth favorites.
Is the keyboard finally broken? Any light in this problem is helpful.
Currently using an iMac G5 20" 2.0 GHz (ambient sensor version) running Mac OS X 10.4.11.

    Hi J.A:
It sounds suspiciously like a KB problem. Do you have access to another BT-equipped Apple or to an Apple store. If you do, you could try the KB there.
You could reset the PRAM to see if that helps (although I doubt it will):
