Wireless Keyboard & Missing framework?

I'm trying to use Apple's Wireless Mouse & Keyboard Updater to update the firmware and hopefully fix my connectivity issues. However...
The updater won't run, so I tried it with the terminal and got the following output:

What is this framework? Should I have it? Where can I get it?
I Just finished erasing and re-installing MacOS (from 10.3 to 10.4) last weekend, so the OS should be a totally clean install.

My Wireless Keyboard has never been as reliable as one might expect, and since 10.4.6 or so, it has become a dust collector.
I have the firmware update installed, but the latest KBmouse updater refuses to be installed on my G4 Cube. "Cannot be installed on this computer."
when I scan for the keyboard, I get "device does not have necessary services."
Any thoughts.............? Thanks

  • Apple wireless keyboard misses first letter in some words

When I am typing, particularly in Word 2011, with my Apple Wireless Keyboard, it frequently does not type the first letter of a word.  I have searched and can find no resolution to this problem.  I have messed with Accessibility but that is all turned off.  The only other bluetooth device is my mouse.

    Hi,
Thanks for this. It isn't the computer though, as it will happen very quickly. For example I can type in a web address, then look up to read the web page for 20 seconds or so, then if I type again it will miss the first key stroke.
I am starting to get used to typing the first letter twice!
I can see that it is a widely reported issue with Apple Macs, but I can't find a fix for Windows. I am keen not to have to buy a new keyboard!

  • Adding missing keyfunctions wireless keyboard

I bought a wireless keyboard and much to my surprise some functions ( keys ) seem to missing.
FYI my keyboard has the azerty lay out.
Missing keys are,as far as i found out yet: square brackets (for loading previous and next pages in safari eg)
the spanish tinde and one of which I don't know the name, looks like a capital i (displayed) and often used with grep in commandline,a vertical stripe so to say.
Is there anyway I can assign these functions to other keys?
I really want to use the keyboard as much as possible....
    Regards,
    daxer.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Okay now I feel stupid.
It appears these functions are assigned to keys but there is no mention at the keys itself,eg key 5 als has ( as it says but pressing alt+5 gives { and alt+shift + 5 [ these last two arent marked on the keys surface though.
I got the reply from another board and thought I would post it here just in case anyone else has the same question/issue.
Never even considered of pressing alt+ shift+key only alt or shift…
Now it's just a matter of remebering which codes are on which keys…
    Kind regards,
    daxer.

  • My MacBook pro stopped connecting to my apple wireless keyboard a while ago.  Since it won't connect to a second one, I suspect it's a computer issue.   Software thoughts?  Updates I've missed?  Thanks

About a year ago, my computer and my keyboard stopped connecting.  I attributed it to a failed keyboard.  Didn't use it much.
Tried today with a second apple wireless keyboard, and it won't connect via blue tooth, either.
Could this be a software/firmware issue that it well known?  Or the bluetooth card on my computer is dead?
    Thoughts?

And, I get a message saying that the "device does not have the required services."
    Thanks again.

  • Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard Bluetooth problems... MISSING BLUETOOTH

Recently I have been using my wireless keyboard and mouse A LOT! and then a few days ago my BlueTooth option on my menu bar disappeared and I cannot find anything related to BlueTooth besides file exchange... Can anyone help with this issue?
NOTE: I have also tried downloading the BlueTooth Firmware update 2.1 from apple and it says that I don't need it... Also, I used both of them a lot, and then it just disappeared, I didn't change a thing...

Hope if no one minds me piggybacking this issue. I've got the same problem but on my new 1 month old iMac 27". Apple has already replaced the bluetooth module and cable and problem has reoccurred.
I've tried trashing my com.apple.bluetooth.plist, shutting it down (disconnecting power chord), leaving it for over 15 mins and powering back on. But MacOSX does -not- regenerate the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file! I've not tried the PRAM reset yet and will probably try that tonight.
Meanwhile, does anyone have any idea why this happens? Also how do I regenerate the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file?
    Thanks!

  • DELETE X KEY MISSING FROM WIRELESS KEYBOARD

i have a full size mac keyboard that has 2 delete keys. one top right and one
in the middle panel that has delete with a right pointing arrow with an 'x' inside of the arrow.
this 2nd delete button has functionality in various programs. the imac comes with a smaller
wireless keyboard with only the first delete button. is there a command to duplicate the
functionality of the 2nd delete button....such as delete + ?

absolutely no FN key bottom left.

  • I'm missing a HOME key on a new bluetooth wireless keyboard.

Does anyone know where to find the HOME key on the new smaller bluetooth wireless keyboard? I spilled coffee on my full keyboard and can't bring it back to life. I need the HOME key for a music online service. It returns the playhead on trascription to start.

You should be able to see the number in your system files/foldes by navigating to:
    Mac:
    /Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 4.0 Registration
    Windows
    C:\[your user name]\Program Data\Adobe\Lighroom\Lightroom 4.0 Registration

  • Wireless trackpad: misses clicks, tracks poorly right to left

Using Yosemite, iMac 5K, wireless keyboard and magic trackpad
The trackpad sometimes misses a click and sometimes doubles the click. I know that the "click" is registered by the little buttons on the bottom of the trackpad. It is on a tidy hard surface and I know the buttons are getting moved. It feels like maybe it misses if I hold the button down longer than it wants me to. But then sometimes it just plain doesn't respond. (Yes, the battery is still good, showing 81% but this phenomenon has been happening since the pad and batteries were new.) Oh, I see more now while I'm typing. If the cursor shows as a little pointy arrow, the click doesn't register. If it shows as a double-ended vertical input cursor, it does register. This perhaps means that even though the pointer has actually moved, the computer hasn't seen it.
But then sometimes one click registers as two. For example, I try to position the mouse and end up with a word (or, worse, the name of a file in the finder) selected instead. I have changed settings in accessibility to make the double click speed slightly slower, which I think might have improved the behavior a bit. On the other hand, with the previously mentioned issue when the click doesn't seem to register. When I then do another click to make it actually see the move, that is when a double or triple click will happen. This is for moves of multiple inches with more than a split second in between.
I also find that the trackpad doesn't register movement reliably especially when I am trying to move it by pushing right to left across the pad. I can position it so that multiple light strokes on the pad don't move the cursor at all. Again, this happens when the cursor is not "expecting" typing. For example, in this support communities entry box with the arrow showing instead of the vertical input thingie.
It isn't really predictable when the problem is going to appear. As you can imagine, this makes "mouse ahead" input pretty dangerous - renaming files, deleting bodies of text with the Undo not being available anymore because of going too fast.
I already returned one of these trackpads as defective. Now I'm thinking that this is actually just the design behavior of the thing. Perhaps a pad from some other mfgr would work more reliably?
[p.s. I wish if it is going to show me the time of last autosave that it would use the local system display time, not the current time in California.]

I hope they can fix it. When my macbook came back from apple after having another issue fixed, the button was pivoting around the middle, meaning you could only click in the middle, not the edge. Too it back, they replaced the top case and it came back with the same problem. It now in again having the top case replaced again.
They're now telling me that it's "normal". It wasn't like that when I bought it!

I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard.  I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard with Windows 7 on non Apple Hardware

    Good Day,
I love the Apple Wireless Keyboard and it's the on I use when using my Thinkpad laptop as a desktop, meaning connected to an external Monitor and with an external keyboard and mouse. The Keyboard I use is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.
On my MBA 13 I use Windows 7 as my OS and the Apple lyouted keyboard works actually quite well with windows: The function keys perform very much like in Mac OSX with the volume, screen brightness, the fn+left or right for "home" or "end" etc.
Not I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use in conjuction with my Thinkpad but all does features are missing. I guess that this has to to that on the MBA 13 the appropriate drivers where installed when the whole Bootcamp Software package was installed.
Since I obviously cant install the whole Bootcamp CD on non Apple Hardware, is there any way to just download somewhere the drivers for Apple KEyboards so the behave the same way as they would on a Mac running Windows?
Or is there any other way I could use my Apple Wireless Keyboard with non Apple Hardware the same way it behaves on my MBA 13 running Windows 7? Can somwhere lolely the Apple Keyboard drivers be downloaded?
I want to thank anyone who is kind enough to help mme with this mather in advance and please leave out comments of the kind that I it's my fault, I should have bought an Apple machine from the beginning. I have my reasons and If anyone can't handle that I kindly ask you to just ignore this post unless it's constructive and helpful contribution

After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found the answer: Try this.
"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you. Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over..."

The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest windows update applies that stops the keyboard from working.

  • Unable to pair Apple Wireless Keyboard in OS X 10.5.8

    Hello everyone,
This is my first post here so if I mess it up, pls don't dog me too much...
I'm currently running OS X Tiger on a Dual PowerMac G5 2GHz with 3GB of RAM and all is well with the world. However, in an attempt to upgrade and become familar (more so) with OS X10.5 I've found that I am unable to pair with my wireless keyboard. I'm running 10.5 on a seperate drive. It sees the dongle, just won't pair with it. The Bluetooth dongle I'm using works fine in OS X 10.4.11, has for years. Any clues, is there something I'm missing?
I've read about Bluetooth issues with Leopard so I thought I would see if i could find an answer here. The keyboard is the original Apple wireless keyboard that came out a few years ago, Model M9270LL/A.

I don't think you're following me very well Mr Williams. I appreciate your attempt to assist and hopefully I won't come across as an **** here but, you're not helping. I will agree you, it seems to be a software issue...and it's called Leopard!
Let me explain something. I have not migrated this system, as per se, and for obvious reasons. The system has 2 HDD's. One has 10.4.11 on it and the other HDD has 10.5.8 installed. I can go from one to the other and it's the way I will continue to work until this problem has been resoved, if ever. I can NOT be productive without the Mac running, regardless of which OS. I'm attempting this because I have apps that must have Leopard, so I'm trying to make it work.
Just to be clear, I gave-up running OS X 10.3 several years ago but did not do so without kicking and screaming the entire way. Now, I'm comfortable with Tiger and I'm very glad I upgraded, as it's a much more stable OS but at this rate I'm about ready to give-up. I don't need Leopard and I don't want it, nor do I like the look and feel of it, I just wanted to try and attempt to upgrade and see if I could run some newer apps that won't run on Tiger. I will probably NEVER upgrade to an Intel Mac, even if I could afford to do so. And I will NEVER run Micro$oft Windoze on a Macintosh...period - EVER! That to me is just sacrilege...so just call me a purist, I care not. If I want to run that OS I'll do it on a PeeCee.
    Back to the dicussion.
I'm typing this reply on the PowerMac running 10.4.11 using the keyboard in question and my Bluetooth dongle. And YES, the keyboard is the older, white keyboard. Did I not share the model # in the original post, Apple Keyboard model M9270LL/A ? Did you not Google that if you're not familiar with these Model numbers?
You said, "...Another thought: did you "unpair" the keyboard from the old system before trying to pair it with the new one?..." What exactly does that mean? That's makes no sense at all. "Can you "see" the keyboard in the bluetooth setup window when trying to set it up or not?" What does my original post say?? YES, I can see the keyboard in OS X 10.5.8, I just can not pair with it.
As a last resort I have installed the Apple Aluminum Keyboard Update, as per your suggestion, even though I don't have an aluminium keyboard and this 'update' installed successfully but my keyboard, although seen will still not pair with the dongle. I will NOT go buy a Al Keyboard just to test this issue. The only thing I've thought about purchasing is the Bluetooth module so that I don't need to use a dongle, but those are expensive and often hard to find. I have also removed the prefs file from /user/Library with no effect.
I almost forgot. I also have another BT dingle from Kensington and although the system sees it as does the other, it does not pair with the keyboard either. That dongle works fine on my PeeCee laptop without any problems, so both dongles are functioning correctly. Do you have any other suggestions you would like to share?
    Thank you for your time.

  • Wireless Keyboard don't connect with new mac mini

    Hi,
I just received my new Mac mini server 2011 and bought an Apple wireless keyboard (already have a magic mouse). At first start up of my Mac mini picks up my magic mouse and I can use it but does not pick up my wireless keyboard? Is this normal? Am I missing a trick with the keyboard? Do I first need to use a normal USB keyboard to configure my Mac mini and then when Lion is setup it will install the driver for the wireless keyboard?
    Regards,

I just bought new Mac mini w/ wireless keyboard and track pad. During initial setup it would not pair to keyboard but it di see trackpad. I could not complete setup, I have no control.  Brought home USB keyboard from work and resumed setup. I'm stuck again. In setup it's asking for a trackpad click to continue. The trackpad will scroll, but will not click. The whole system is two days old and nothing works  I tried to contact support through the lengthy online screening process and apple ultimately say the new system doesn't qualify for free support.
Totally ******. I'm back to using my old pc..  What to do with this expensive boat anchor from apple?
Really could use some help here
    Thanks

How do you set up a new mac mini with a new wireless keyboard bought separately ... computer does not see the keyboard.
I've seen this question asked before but the only answer seems to be to get a usb keyboard for set up. So do I need to go out and buy another keyboard to complete the set up or is there a way around this
    Thanks.

  • Does Apple make Ukrainian/English wired/wireless keyboards?

    Hi,
I'm just wondering, does Apple actually make a version of its current standard mac pro style wired keyboard, and/or wireless keyboard, fitted out with dual characters - English and Ukrainian (Cyrillic, but with some differences to Russian).
I used to use a PC keyboard that had it, but since going over exclusively to mac several years ago I've missed having such a keyboard.
I'm visiting Ukraine at the end of April, and, if Ukrainian mac keyboards exist, intend to buy one. But info online seems sketchy, and pictures on Ukrainian Apple reseller websites just show standard non-cyrillic keyboards.
Any info gratefully received. And if the answer is yes, they are made, any tips on where to get such a keyboard would also be useful, preferably somewhere where I can buy off the shelf without having to order.
    Cheers,
    Nigel

The keyboards which Apple makes should all be shown in this note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2841
I don't see Ukrainian on the list.

  • Wireless Keyboard Page Up and Page Down Help

The wireless keyboard for my iMac omits many common keys found on full size keyboards.
One application I am running (Battlefield 2142) requires the use of "page up" and "page down" among others.
By random effort, in happens that "Control" + "up arrow" worked for "page up".
Does anyone know where I can find a resource showing these built-in key board sequences.
In System Preferences there are the keyboard short cuts that can be configured, but many are missing. The control "up arrow" was not listed here for "Page Up:, nor are others like "Home", "End".
My assumption is that these are not officially considered keyboard short cuts.
    Any help, appreciated.
    MikeK

    Hello
a - this forum is not dedicated to hardware but to the Numbers application.
b - I don't own such a keyboard but, I'm quite sure that the asked info is available on your machine.
    Apple menu > System Preferences
open the prefPane named Keyboard and Mouse
click on the tab named "Keyboard Shortcuts"
You will get a list of many shortcuts descriptions.
I assumes that the wanted ones are available in this list.
Are you sure that the response is not available in the manual delivered with the keyboard?
