That mapping is determined by the settings of your computer.  Go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and make sure that only US is present on the list (or whatever language you normally use).

  • Wireless keyboard repeating esc(?) key

    Hello guys
I got an apple wireless keyboard about a year ago (maybe two). It was working perfectly at first, until a while back I started to encouter situations where some keys suddenly started getting "pressed" (but they weren't actually physically getting clicked) repeatedly. I encountered this in games (the menu would start appearing and disappearing repeatedly, or when I have a full screen app open, it suddenly closes, when I'm on the desktop I start hearing "ting" sounds, when I click on a menu or dropdown list using the mouse it instantaneously closes. To stop it, I repeatedly clicked random keys. I suspect that the combination being repeated is the escape and cmd key (I was able to recreate the senarios using the escape key, except for the "ting" sound, it required both esc+cmd). I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas!
Note: I am using the keyboard with my MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion

I just tried to use my keyboard with my Mac booted into Ubuntu, this time, while typing, the keyboard lags for a while then it suddenly inserts the letter many times consecutively. I'm not sure what's going on. No ideas? Could it be a hardware problem?

  • "Sticky" keys on apple's wireless keyboard when typing on my ipad.

I am using apple's wireless keyboard on my ipad. It has worked fine for four months but then last night the keys got "sticky", typing any letter I'm hitting continually until I hit escape. Does anyone know how to set it back to normal typing?
The on screen keyboard works fine (I'm using it now), but when i switch to the wireless this happens:
    I   cannnnn't't't    tttttyppeeeeeeee      noormallyyyyyyy...............
I tried changing batteries but that didn't help either. Would really appreciate comments/help!!

Do you have a computer with Bluetooth that you can test the keyboard with?
Have you tried going into Settings on the iPad and under Bluetooth tried forgetting the device? You should see the keyboard listed as a device. Pressing the arrow in the blue circle should present an option to forget the device.

  • My Apple Wireless Keyboard keeps typing the letter x.

The wireless keyboard keeps on typing the letter x, so I tried to switch keyboards, which fixed it. The wireless keyboard has no exterior damage, but pressing the x key does absolutely nothing. I'm wondering how I can fix this problem.

presssing the x key one and off may fix it but at the end of the day the keyboard'x swich may just be broken and may never come around

  • Wireless keyboard only typing numbers

    Hey community,
My wireless keyboard is only typing numbers and can delete those. I presume there is a num lock that have been activated, but I have no idea on how to turn it off.
    Help please.
    Nick

Though I'm using the short Apple keyboard with my iPad right now with no problems (nor when writing an email just a few moments ago), when I goto post comments on some websites, I then get the doubling.
My 'pad is version 3, its IOS is up-to-date 6.1.3, and the keyboard is model 1314 (bought in 2009 for use with an old, hand-me-down, Mac Mini). Batteries are fresh, just installed today, in case that was the problem -- alas, no.
Since the keyboard works flawlessly on this site, works fine with numerous  apps including WikiPedia, Final Draft Writer, Notes, and FileMaker Go, but does not work periodically on all the differnt sites I run to, I must conclude that the problem is not with either the iPad or the keyboard.
    I would suggest the following:
    a) Install fresh batteries to the keyboard
    b) Fully charge the iPad
    c) Turn off any other Bluetooth toy in the neighborhood -- just in case
    d) Keep a detailed list of what sites and apps do or do not work with the combination
    e) Try using the keyboard with a friend's 'Pad, Macs or PC's (yes, you can use the keyboard with a non-Apple system)
I'd run to the Apple Genius only as very last resort.

  • Ipad keyboard repeats typed charachters

when typing using the ipad keyboard , for example if i search using the safari search box it will repeat the typed charachters and therefore I am unable to use the typing function properly.   I have tried looking in the settings for 'repeat' or something and nothing helps.    I assume it is a software issue with the interface of the touch screen and the keyboard programming.  Maybe it's time for Apple to update the ipad software to fix this A.S.A.P.    Any ideas anyone??  thanks.

If you come back to to read this .... Closing apps
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
As far as moving apps to the next screen....
Move the wiggling app slowly to the side of the screen and just hold the icon over on the edge for a second or two - don't try to force that icon over - just hold the icon about halfway over to the next screen - and then the app should jump to the next screen.

i wonder how long it will last..since im on the go..i prefer to use wireless keyboard rather typing at my macbook keyboard..
and how long does the magic mouse last>>? hours??

    Hello i:
i wonder how long it will last..since im on the go..i prefer to use wireless keyboard rather typing at my macbook keyboard..
There is no way to answer that since battery life is a direct function of use.
and how long does the magic mouse last>>? hours??
There is no way to answer that either for the same reason.
Carry extra batteries with you or use rechargeables and carry the charger.

  • HT4010 Wireless Keyboard Firmware update fail - a key may repeat unexpectedly while typing.

I followed this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4010 downloading the firmware, quitting all apps and after following the directions I receive the error message saying "No aluminum keyboards were found" and yet my Bluetooth indicator shows the keyboard connected.
My keys go in and out of repeating unexpectedly and yet the update can't even read the wireless though it's connected.  Anyone have a solution?

  • Wireless keyboard to iPad repeating characters

My wireless keyboard periodically repeats characters making typing on the iPad 2 difficult. Got fix?

    Go to Settings app
    Select General
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
Make sure your keyboard is in discovery mode (press the silver button on the right side of the keyboard - the green light will start flashing)
In the Bluetooth section on the iPad, you should see the wireless keyboard
Select the found keyboard to pair it with the iPad
You'll be asked to type a pairing code on the keyboard - if it's entered successfully, your keyboard will be paired with the iPad (or any iOS device with Bluetooth)
Note that when you are using the Bluetooth keyboard, the normal iPad keyboard does not appear - turn off Bluetooth or the external keyboard (press and hold the button on the right side of the Apple Wireless Keyboard), or travel outside the 10-15m range of Bluetooth to go back to using the regular iPad keyboard

my iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. Thanks for your observation. I realize they are different versions, but when I use the "Software Update" menu, this is as far as it would update. Is there some way to update the iMac beyond what "Software Update" does? I've tried it several times.
    Please Note.
Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.

  • Wireless keyboard typing at random

Yesterday I was dipleased with how dirty my wireless key bow

sorry i sent this way premature. Anyway i was cleaning my keyboard with a dry cloth, just giving it the ole scrub down. Apparently I should have turned it off before this process, the mac was off so i didnt notice any issues at the time. Now when it connects to my MacBookPro it is wildly typing characters.
Does anyone know of a setting I may have unknowingly activated that would cause such a rucus.
note: i can use my magic mouse and my ma fine together, it's just when I connect the wireless keyboard that thing go haywire,
interesting fact: when my wireless keyboard is connected and i reboot, clicking  the "delete" key makes objects in the password field appear instead of dissappear................  i am very frustrated, please help
