  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - some keys not working with iPhone 5

I just bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard (2011) and paired it with my iphone 5 (iOS 7.0.3).
All keys work except the following:
    Space bar
    Delete
    Caps Lock
    Down Arrow
    Tab
I can understand if iOS has no concept of Tab, but Space and Delete are essential.
Did I get a bad keyboard?

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - some keys not working

I have an Apple wireless keyboard and suddenly there are 4 keys on the keyboard that are not responding.  Is this a fault with the keyboard or a software issue?

  • Keyboard: some keys not working

Some keys not working.  Need help/suggestions.  Not great with computers so PLEASE give details/steps re: how to do what you suggest - thanks!
Details: intel based iMac running snow leopard 10.6.8.  Apple wireless/bluetooth keyboard (came with the iMac).
Some keys suddenly stopped working:  space, tab, capLock, option key to the right of space bar (one on the left works), down arrow
The problem happens in various programs (safari, pages, etc)
The keyboard is fine on another iMac
A different keyboard is fine on this/the involved iMac
(nutshell: keyboard works fine - computer works fine, unless they're together)
    Here's what's been tried/checked:
-checked the settings for universal access ("mouse keys" are off) and checked for any bluetooth keyboard shortcuts.
-in system preferences "speech" is not set for "speak selected text when the key is pressed" - this is not checked/selected
-tried creating a new user but had the same issue so it's computer-wide rather than just a user account
-removed the keyboard and reconnected (using the +/- signs and "disconnect" and putting in a new code of numbers to pair keyboard)
    -language/text is set for english
-did the keyboard viewer and the keys in question did NOT highlight when pressed (but don't forget the entire keyboard is fine on a different computer so thekeys aren't the issue)
-"slow keys" is turned off re: keyboard in system preferences.
Any help is welcomed.  It's frustrating knowing the keyboard works, just not with this computer.  Please help.  Many thanks!

yes - not sure how this works...if you can see my original post there are a lot of details in there.  If you can't...
nutshell: the keyboard works on a different iMac
a different keyboard works on this/the involved iMac
I tried to create a different user and the keyboard still does not work so it is computer-wide
I also removed the keyboard from the computer (using the +/- symbols and disconnecting and then repairing it.  The problem remained
Thanks for any help.  It's crazy that the keyboard is fine and the computer is fine but together, there's the problem.
    Thank you!!!

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard 'o' key not working

I have recently acquired a pre-owned wireless keyboard which was working fine until a few days ago. Now the 'o' key has stopped working and some keys do not work with the left shift key - they work fine with the right-shift key and other keys work with left-shift.
I have checked the key using the keyboard viewer and the 'o' is not highlighted highlighted when the key is pressed. I can type 'o' characters using the keyboard viewer.
I have tried pairing the keyboard with another mac and it has the same symptoms on that machine so I don't think it is a software problem or a problem with SVC, PRAM or Bluetooth on the mac ( late-2012 Mac Mini).
I have tried to look for solutions here and in other forums but none of the suggested solutions seem to work.
    Any suggestions?

I would reset the PRAM. If that does not work, I suspect it is failing and/or failed.
I agree, it is not a Bluetooth problem.

  • Wireless Keyboard FN Key Not Working

    I have checked this box:
I also tried the Firmware 1.1 update but I got a messege saying:
"No Apple Aluminum Keyboards Found" and I paraphrase "Please connect the device or make sure it is turned on etc."
I also tried the Firmware 2.0 update but got the same message. I can't physically connect the Wireless Keyboard to the Mac Mini I have. It's wireless FFS.
I ALSO Installed the Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 and that didn't help
Also I tried some advice from a forum mentioning a SMC or System Management Controller via these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
But nothing is allowing me to use my FN keys anymore. This is annoying because I thoroughly enjoyed volume control from my keyboard. Now it's gone.
This all started when my old keyboard broke and I got a new one. I want my volume control back! Help me please before I jump out the window!

    Hi.
My FN key is not working either. I have a macbook white (10.5.8) and a brand new apple wifi keyboard.
F9 to F12 keys are working. F1 to F4 keys are not working.
I've gone thought many posts (some are listed bellow). In short, I did the following already:
    - keyboard software update
    - keyboard firmware update
    - magic mouse software update (because some posts suggested that more than one Bluetooth device, like magic mouse, could interfere on Bluetooth keyboard operation.
    - SMC reset (above in this post).
Most posts were saying  "uncheck the "use F1, F2......", then recheck it. This didn't work for me.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gus.

  • Cleaned the keys on my wireless keyboard, 5 keys not working.

Cleaned the keys on my wireless keyboard with rubbing alcohol. Now my number 2 key, w, s, x and caps lock keys won't work. I copy and paste these right now. I did notice the cotton balls were saturated and some seeped out, but I didn't notice that my keys didn't work till 2 days later. I did leave my keyboard in the sun to see if it helped for about 45 min. It's still not working. Any suggestions? Hope There is a way to save my keyboard.

I did notice the cotton balls were saturated and some seeped out,
Never clean a keyboard with rubbing alcohol and never leave the keyboard in the sun, or any Apple products for that matter.
You may need to purchase a new keyboard.
In the future, follow the instructions here >  How to clean Apple products

  • New Apple Wireless Keyboard Function Key not working ON 10.5.8

Tried updating keyboard os, disconecting reconnecting. Selecting/deselecting option in keyboard options.  power off and on
Cannot get function key to work
    Thanks

found answer here- my wireless keyboard model is  MC184LL/B
    http://store.apple.com/us/question/answers/product/MB110LL/B?pqid=QXXHTX4T747AAF PXKHXCC72CYAXYU7XXYUPK9UFC74K27FPKF
The Function keys will not all work properly on 10.5.8, all the other keys will be fine.  The previous model MB110LL/A would work with all the Function keys on Leopard or Snow Leopard.

  • Wireless Keyboard Delete Key not working properly

Recently, my wireless keyboard's delete key has been malfunctioning. Instead of erasing right to left, it deletes left to right. This is without pressing other buttons such as the fn key. Also, the left and right keys do not move the cursor properly such as in the address bar. They only move the page up and down. It works normally right at start up and after I restart the computer but after a few minutes it goes back. Is there a problem with my settings or the keyboard itself? Thank you for your help!

    Hello:
I do not know of a setting that would do that - especially intermittently.
I would suspect the KB is failing/has failed.

  • TS3119 Wireless Keyboard one key not working

  • Keyboard - some keys not working? (Didn't spill anything though)

Hi - I am a new apple user (iMac Intel core 2 duo 24" screen) using Mac OS x 10.4.11 operating system. I have been learning it for about a month now. All of a sudden, only "some" of the keys won't work on my keyboard. THe numeric pad keys for number 4,5,&6 do not work. If you press them, nothing happens. Also, more importantly, the right "shift" key doesn't work. I am the only user and nothing was spilled on it. It has been working all along, and nothing was changed. Just to be sure, I checked the keyboard, mouse, shortcut, etc. settings, and everything (that I know of) is set right. Any idea what it could be?? Also, what is the best way to learn everything you can if you don't know a lot about the mac? The classes they offer? or ?? Thank you so much

Hi, welcome. As for the keyboard take it back to an Apple store/retailer and get it exchanged if under warranty. I have not heard of those particular keys just not working. The best way to learn about the mac is to...use it. Assign yourself some projects, play some games. There are lots of trial/freeware programs if you don't have the latest photoshop or quake. You'll run into things you're not sure about so that is where you'll learn. Check your systems Help and/or ask questions at the appropriate forum. Have fun.

  • New Wireless Keyboard Function Keys Not Working

I recently got an Apple Wireless keyboard- the newest one, with only 2 batteries. I connected it to my MacBook Pro (10.5.8) just fine, and everything seemed to have been working. But the function keys don't work for their functions (F7 as previous, F8 as play, etc.). I've tried changing the settings, manually mapping shortcuts, and reinstalling the keyboard, but nothing worked, I installed all the updates, including the Magic Mouse update, but the function keys still don't work properly. The system recognizes them, but I can't map shortcuts to them, nor do the built-in shortcuts work.

You can download the software update even if you don't have a wireless mouse. Go to the apple site then "downloads" and look along the left columns for "top apple downloads" which should open a list. As of tonight, look for #11 Apple wireless mouse download. Download that and it should fix your wireless keyboard and the function keys. As mentioned in my earlier response, be sure under System Preferences and Keyboard icon that the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys...." box is unchecked.
The above should take care of the problem even though you do not have a wireless mouse.

  • Wireless Keyboard Function Keys Not Working

I recently bought a wireless keyboard and am using it with an iMac running 10.5.8.
The function keys don't work, for example F12 brings up Dashboard instead of increasing the volume, F8 brings up Spaces etc.
I've unticked "Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys" and have tried installing the Mighty Mouse update and Wirless Keyboard update 2.0 to no avail.
Any help in fixing the issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I have the exact same issue: I'm running OSX 10.5.8 and the "Apple Wireless Keyboard Update 2.0" does not resolve my problem with the "fn" key. The "fn" key simply does not work. For example I cannot adjust volume regardless of whether or not this key is pressed. Also, I cannot perform a "del" action, which is normally "fn" + "delete" keys combined. The "delete" key only performs backspace action, whether or not my "fn" key is pressed.
I have tried removing the keyboard from the bluetooth devices and adding it again to no avail. I also tried deleting the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist in the preferences folder, rebooting, adding the keyboard, and finally installing the 2.0 update. Still no difference; the keyboard gets recognized properly, but the "fn" key does not work.
This is driving me nuts, any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Sandro

  • Wireless Keyboard Brightness Keys Not Working

    Hello.
Since an update a while back the brightness adjustment keys for screen brightness on my apple keyboard have stopped working. These are the F1 and F2 keys normally.
On my Macbook Pro keyboard they work fine but the wireless keyboard keys do not.
Anyone having the same issue or know a fix?

I had the same problem, minor but annoying. I found the cause, It is a combination of factors. If the following are true:
    • You're using a laptop
    • You are running 10.6.x (not sure which revision, true of 10.6.6)
    • You have an external display connected
    • The external display is non-Apple, or you don't have a USB connection to an Apple display
    • You are using an Apple Wireless bluetooth keyboard
    • You have the menu bar *on the external display*
Then the brightness keys won't adjust the brightness of the laptop's display.
The apparent logic is that if your main (menu bar) display is external, and you're using an external keyboard, then you must want the brightness keys to control the external display. The bug in the logic is that it doesn't check to see if the external display is capable of brightness control. So, it appears that the brightness keys don't work at all. Note that Max OS X can only adjust the brightness of an internal display or an external Apple display with a USB connection.
