Wireless keyboard spacebar & delete key

wireless keyboard spacebar & delete key are locked/do not work. Any suggestions?

Hello "BDAqua".
.. I'm experiencing the same problem.
... and, where checking, with clicking on both my spacebar and delete function keys, along with in my own case, additionally, my ["/'] key, ... in a Text Edit document, .. each, does in fact work.
What does this tell me in fact. ?
— Typing this, part and part, on both my main keyboard, together along with a "USB" plug-in.
— This on a 2009 "iMac", running Mac OS X v.10.6.8.
Appreciate your time.

  • GX600 4 months old, keyboard Spacebar delete keys not always working!

    Hi There,
4 months ago I bought this gx600 gaming notebook and for some valid reason my keyboard space bar and delete buttons are not working anymore as they should be. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. It is very unpredictable. I noticed that if they are frozen and i keep pressing them, they wont work for a long time I have to press another key repeatedly and then one of them till it works again. It is very annoying since I can't do anything without it and it loses the notebooks portability.
I uninstalled nearly everything, and I even tried in safe mode but same issue happens. Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate if someone helps me since I'm getting very upset and frustrated about this. Its a new laptop and I've been taken very good care of it.
    Thanks.

Notebooks that are build by MSI can be RMAed to MSI directly.
MSI can verify if they are based on the serial-number, regardless of where you bought it.
But it's best to check your local MSI pages about this, they usually contain information about the proceedings.

  • Is there a fix for my wireless keyboard the "A" key dont work

is there a fix for my wireless keyboard the "A" key dont work

Hello Trwalker and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
If your onboard keyboard works that's got to be a hardware problem w/ your wireless.
Did you check under the key for smutz. What kind of keyboard?

  • Pressing certain keys on the wireless keyboard makes other keys appear.

Last week, actually the night Jobs died (relevant?!), my wireless keyboard started acting weird. I didn't spill anything on it, the batteries are new, and all my software is up to date. This is taking forever to type because of these issues:
Hitting enter produces a forward slash
I can't make a question mark, capital h or lowercase y without copy and pasting from another source
Shifting puts a capital Y in front of everything YLike YThis
The spacebar works but also throws in a right bracket
YSo ]mY ]tYPing ]ends ]up ]looking ]like ]this.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

  • Wireless keyboard: spacebar is dead!

Hello, this is a weird issue, the spacebar key from my wireless keyboard (the early 2009 model) is not working anymore. The other keys are functioning correctly, it's just the spacer. Any ideas of what can I do to solve this problem? Thanks!

If your Macbook is less than a year old, it is under warranty. A repair of of a problem of this kind would be free. So, if you have a warranty, have the problem fixed by Apple.
If your Macbook is more than one year old, please tell us what operating system you are running, and any other information that would help understand what is going on.
If you do get the keyboard to work for a short time, long enough to post back, please unlock the "caps lock" button.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - Volume & Brightness keys not working Windows 7

Finally got my wireless keyboard working within Windows 7 but the volume / Eject / Brightness keys all do nothing - all other keys appear fine.
I have reinstalled the bootcamp drivers for the 2nd time but still nothing. I had this all working previously but have factory restored my iMac and cant remember how I originally did this..
    Any ideas?

Maybe you could update the Boot Camp drivers. That happened to my internal keyboard, and updated drivers some times fixed it. Other times it fixed itself after a few restarts.

  • Universal Wireless Keyboard by Palm: Keys do not work properly

4 keys on the right side of the keyboard (0, P, L, ".") do not work, and I find it very annoying, because it's been a common problem among all the Palm keyboard I have used.
I have owned 3 Palm keyboards so far. The first one was Palm Wireless Keyboard. It worked great at first, but after about 8 months of use, the keys on the right stopped working. It was not a software problem, I was sure, because I'd performed all the resets (soft, hard, you name it) but it did not resolve the problem. Since the keyboard was still under warranty, Palm replaced it with a new Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard. It worked great at first, but after several months of use, the keys on the right stopped working as well. Palm did not replace this keyboard but I got a new Palm TX around the time, and the Palm sent me Universal Wireless Keyboard free with it, so I just started using the new one, which, worked great at first, but then gave away after several months of use. And I'm TIRED of it.
The keys will work sometimes, but mostly don't, at least not promptly. If I hold down the troubled keys and wait long enough, sometimes they will start working. The keyboard makes a soft ticking noise when I press down on the normal keys, but the troubled ones don't, when they are not working, and I'm guessing this has to do with the wiring.
I was wondering how I can fix this problem. It is VERY annoying when the keys suddenly stops working when I'm taking notes in the class or just won't start working at all.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

If the following iFixit repair guide doesn't help, then it is time for a replacement.

Additionally, you can use most any after-market or pc keyboard with a Mac.
Heck' I've been using $20 MK120 Keyboard/Mouse Combo's with all of my Mac's for years.

  • TS3048 My new wireless keyboard uses the key positions of the old keyboard

I am using a wireless keyboard to type this question...the letters work fine its the characters and the corresponding keys that are not working.  I have downloaded all the updates, it looks like a simple setting issue.  The computer seems to still think it is using the old key positions.  Thanks for the help, I am suprised this is not a common problem with a troubleshoot answer on apple online support

I had this problem too. You have to download and install "Keyboard Software Update 1.2" from apple support downloads. After downloading and install you should restart your computer and the problem is gone. Additionally you will be able to view the battery status of your keyboard in the system preferences / keyboard / bluetooth windows.

  • Wireless Keyboard Up Down Keys

I plan on ordering the 24" iMac with a wireless keyboard. Is there a workaround for the absent up down, home, end keys?
    Thanks.

If you don't have an extra wired usb keyboard kicking around I'd highly recommend you buy the imac with the wired kb and order the wireless one as an extra. If you ever have to do some trouble shooting or loose bluetooth connectivity you'll wish you had a wired one.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard Spacebar insensitive

Hi everyone, I'm having problem with my spacebar because the sides are totally not sensitive at all. I just want to know if there should be 'nipples' attached to the sides - just like the one in the middle. This keyboard is unfortunately out of warranty and the insentivity is driving me crazy.
Based on this photo, can anyone check if this isnorm

Digging around I have just found this on Google.   If you are prepared in the final instance to replace your keyboard, this could help you find out what is wrong.

  • Wireless Keyboard Caps Lock Key

I recently got the new iMac with a wireless keyboard. A few days after starting to use it, the caps lock key light went on and stayed on, even though caps lock isn't activated. Caps lock will activate when I hit the key and de-activate when I hit it again, but the green light stays on. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

As I mentioned in my first post, the keyboard worked fine when I brought it into my local Mac store; the problem was not experienced when the clerk connected to one of their display iMacs. The keyboard is under warrenty but it does not make sense to get a new one if the problem is not with the keyboard; I have not, however, tested another wireless keyboard with my computer.
    Any other thoughts?

    Hello PBnanas,
I would be concerned too if the spacebar was not responding correctly.  I found an article that can assist with troubleshooting issues with keys not responding correctly.
I recommend following the steps under the section titled, "Some keys don't work as expected" in the following article to isolate and troubleshoot the issue you described:

  • Wireless Keyboard Delete Key not working properly

Recently, my wireless keyboard's delete key has been malfunctioning. Instead of erasing right to left, it deletes left to right. This is without pressing other buttons such as the fn key. Also, the left and right keys do not move the cursor properly such as in the address bar. They only move the page up and down. It works normally right at start up and after I restart the computer but after a few minutes it goes back. Is there a problem with my settings or the keyboard itself? Thank you for your help!

    Hello:
I do not know of a setting that would do that - especially intermittently.
I would suspect the KB is failing/has failed.

  • Which is the delete key on a wireless keyboard

How do I "delete" using a wireless keyboard (no delete key) and why doesn't apple inform customers when they buy ?

Depends which keyboard you have.   See screenshot.
In my UK keyboard it is the X under F13.
