Wireless keyboard stucks on fn   function key

Hello Guys,
i bought a brand-new Apple Wireless Keyboard and its working very smoothly, but i have some problems with the fn + function keys Combo. I'm using Mac OS X 10.7.3 and when i press FN + F11 (for example, but it's concerning all function keys), it should show me the Desktop. But unfortunately only Volume gets louder till i press it again. I have this problem only the first time pressing the keys. For all following combos its working till i dont press any key for some seconds.
Any others having this problem too?
Greetings and thanks for help,
Patrick

I returned the Keyboard to the Reseller and got a new one: it works perfect now! Can be closed.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Apple keyboard software overrides QuarkXpress function keys

    HELP
I recently installed Tiger 10.4.11 update, and the apple keyboard software update 1.2 for use with a new Apple keyboard. However, in QuarkXpress 6.5, now the function keys F7 and up do not work in Quark — presumably because they are being used by the keyboard software. I presumed when an application was running (e.g., Quark) IT would override. I need my F7 key in Quark!
Is there a way to make the application take precedence? Or, is there a way to disable or uninstall the apple keyboard software? The function keys for use with itunes and dashboard, etc. are far less important to me than having the function keys available in software I use daily for work.
    Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply — I tried that, which seemed the obvious solution, but I cannot find the place to change that — it is NOT in the keyboard shortcut list in the keyboard preferences.
The F7 thru F9 keys on the new keyboard control playback, which I presume to be itunes and\or DVD player, judging from the icons on those keys.
Haven't found a place to disable them. In adding apps in the keyboard shortcuts, which I tried, it doesn't allow for the key combinations needed to restore the Quark functionality I am missing since the keyboard software update, which I wish I hadn't done. There's not enough functionality in the keyboard that isn't available in a myriad of other ways to make it worthwhile, especially when it means giving up the convenience if those commands in Quark, which is where I spend the majority of my time.
Anyone have other ideas? Can the Apple keyboard software be uninstalled or disabled?
BTW, the control F1 command to turn off keyboard access doesn't work either.

  • Is there a function key on Apple Wireless Keyboard to mimic the roundel key (home)?

While the cheap bluetooth keyboard has a home key, alas, Apple Wireless Keyboard doesn't have it to work well with iOS devices.  Can it be programmed into F5 or F6 then?

Good luck on the switch. I know I initially struggled with the layout change of many things. If I could give one recommendation/word of advice it would be:
    "Learn shortcut keys."
As a Windows user of 15 years, I had become reliant on my mouse (and the occasional alt/tab keys) that I never really explored the world of keyboard shortcuts.
After taking several weeks to finally get the hang of all the various keyboard shortcuts I zip through things now, almost rarely use my mouse except when an ease to use (or remember) keyboard shortcut is available.
Good links already posted above, just more of my 2 cents.

  • Apple Aluminum Wireless Keyboard Pairs, but letter/number keys don't work

I just got the new Wireless keyboard and I paired it, and the Function keys work fine, and when I was pairing, the number keys worked as well(to type in pairing code). But when I try to type in any search box or type anywhere, it won't. even the numbers won't work. the Tab and Delete keys work though. Along with the function keys.
The funny thing about this is that the number keys worked when i was pairing, but not now. Also when I start up my Mac and have to type the password in, the letter keys worked. But once on the desktop its a no go.
    Please help.

24 hours later, the initial fix resetting the Universal Access settings as discussed above, the keyboard proved to be so flaky, that I took it back to Apple and exchanged it for a new one. The weakness seems to be in the bluetooth communication perhaps, with the keyboard accepting the new settings and then forgetting them somehow. So if you are a user reading this thread and you aren't getting any joy from the solution above, the solution is to take/send the keyboard back to Apple for a new one. The one I have now works just fine. It paired up much more quickly and it is typing this note without any issues. So far. I also picked up a wired keyboard in case I have to throw this one against the wall if it starts screwing up like the other one. Either way, I am covered.

  • Wireless keyboard: using scroll and Cmd keys with iPad?

Excited to set up my Origami case and pair my Apple wireless keyboard with my iPad 1.
Surprised to find that while I can type, all other keys don't work - specifically Cmd-L/Cmd-R as well as the scrolling keys.
Is this a known bug or limitation? Is there a workaround? Needing to touch the screen for every movement isn't very usable.
I've rebooted the iPad. Google turns up many discussions, but no resolution, at least that I've found.
    Thanks.

    Hello:
I tmight be that the KB failed...
However, try resetting the PRAM - it might help and cannot hurt.

  • Wireless Keyboard (3x Battery Version) -  Shift Key Issue

    Chaps,
I am using a 3G-WiFi iPad with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, which is great.
However, the RIGHT HAND Shift Key doesn't work for me.
Is this the same for other users?
(I am in UK, but maybe a US person can try too?)

  • Wireless keyboard stops working when some keys adobe photoshop is open and being used.

My apple wireless keyboard stops working some keys when using adobe photoshop. The lestras not work. Stop when I start using the stamp program for example. Is there any solution to this problem. For other macs minis did not have the same problem.

    Hello, what are lestras?

  • Wireless keyboard lost command and 0 - keys funktion

    Hi all,
after quite some time of working with no problems at all my wireless keyboard lost the command - keys and the zero. There is no reaktion when I touch them. After a restart they work for some minutes and then they are gone again. What can that be. Working on a MacBookPro with 1.6.8.
Thanks in advance for any tips and hints. I don´t think it is something with the keyboard hardware-wise because both command keys got lost simultaniously.
    Best regards - Christoph

  • IPad Mini paired with bluetooth keyboard - periodically losing all Function keys

    iPad Mini 6.0.2 (10A550)
Model MD529LL (32 gig wifi only)
    Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (Model A1314)
I'm listening to the Mini, unplugged from power, with headphones, and the bluetooth keyboard connected.  When playing music using either the IOS Music app, or Pandora, I am periodically losing the keyboard Function keys (brightness, track back, play/pause, track forward, mute, and volume up and down).  Yet all other keyboard functions keep working -- I'm able to type email messages even though the Function keys are not working.
I have not found the exact combination of activities that causes the Function keys to stop working.  I've tried using only Pandora, or only Music, letting the screen sleep, wake it back up with different methods.  I can't break it at will, but eventually it does stop working.  A power off and reboot of the iPad restores functionality.
Has anyone seen a bug of this type reported yet?

  • HT4010 Wireless Keyboard Firmware update fail - a key may repeat unexpectedly while typing.

I followed this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4010 downloading the firmware, quitting all apps and after following the directions I receive the error message saying "No aluminum keyboards were found" and yet my Bluetooth indicator shows the keyboard connected.
My keys go in and out of repeating unexpectedly and yet the update can't even read the wireless though it's connected.  Anyone have a solution?
    kindly, Matt

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard stuck at 100% charge, occasional disconnect even with fresh batteries. Any ideas?

    Hi all,
I have an Apple Wireless Keyboard here I bought for my '09 Mac Mini, it's brilliant, love it. Problem is randomly a few months ago it started reporting my batteries as 100%, and I've not seen it report anything different for months now. Occasionally I'll get "connection lost" whilst the light on the keyboard is blinking as if it's trying to re-establish connection. I have a Wireless Trackpad which is working fine, reports the battery levels as normal and doesn't disconnect randomly. I've been replacing the batteries as disconnects happen and even with fresh ones it suffers from random disconnects.
Am I right in thinking that this is a keyboard problem? It still works when it's not disconnecting (doesn't happen all the time). It's just annoying when I will be typing something fairly long and then suddenly I get disconnected!
    Cheers in advance.

Alvin, I'm using Lion, but hopefully it's similar to Snow Leopard if that's what you're using. Hope this helps:
Go in to System Preferences -> Bluetooth. In the page that appears, you'll see a white window showing your Bluetooth devices. At the bottom of this white pane, you'll see a +, - and a cog. Click the cog to bring up more options, and then click "Show More Info". The pane will split in to two, and show further information about your devices. Click your bluetooth device (such as your keyboard), and look at the setting of "Favourite" to the right. If this is set to "No", click the cog at the bottom left again, and click "Add To Favourites". Job done. You'll see the "Favourite" setting change to yes, and that's it.

  • My wireless keyboard has a few sticky keys.  They are harder to push and take longer to come back up.  I don't see evidence of a spill but I wonder if that's what happened?

I'm not sure if something got spilled on our wireless key board because I can't see any evidence but the space bar and a few other keys are sticky and take too long to come back up.  Any ideas how to fix this?

Possibly wd-40.  I haven't tried this.  The consensus off these forums is that using wd-40 may or may not be a good idea.
