Wireless keyboard w / optical trackball for MAC

Hello there:
Anyone know of a good wireless keyboard (rf) with optical trackball for
macs? i can find them for PCs , but haven't found anything for the mac.
thanks

Anything that plugs into the USB port will work on apple.
I'm not sure that's totally true of input devices, especially keyboards. Something has to tell them that a certain key is to become the command key on a Mac. Older cross-platform (and pre-USB) boards had a switch that changed them from Mac to PC. Modern boards need software drivers to assign keys. I've used a lot of third-part USB mice and--yes--they work, but on a very basic level. To customize buttons and activate other features you need Mac drivers.
In short, ask before you buy. Know the return policy in case a Windoze USB device fails on your Mac.
This company sells USB trackpads in various sizes along with clips to attach them to keyboards. This is advertised as Mac-compatible and may provide a similar but cheaper solution.

  • Wireless keyboard with integrated trackball

I'm looking for a wireless keyboard with integrated trackball (for the mouse function) to be used with a mac mini (leopard).
    Any suggestion?
The apple wireless keyboard looks very nice, but would require a separate mouse and mousepad. That would not work very well with the intended setup (mac mini connected to the TV and keyboard/trackball used from the couch).

This trackball looks pretty good according to its reviews and specs:

  • Wireless keyboard delay before active for Intel Mac Mini

I posted this many moons ago when I got my Intel Mac Mini. The issue was never resolved even though several users found it to be a problem. I am reposting the issue to see if there is any progress. I took my Intel Mini in to the Genius Bar at an Apple store. He thought it was a software issue related to the dual processor and thought it would be corrected by an update. This apparently has not happened yet.
When I start up my Mac Mini, the wireless keyboard is not active immediately. When the login screen appears, there is a delay of maybe 20 -30 seconds before a keystroke will show up even though the cursor is blinking on the screen. If I hit a key more than once during the end of this delay period, all the keystrokes eventually show up.
Mac Mini (Intel Core Duo)   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I just bought new Mac mini w/ wireless keyboard and track pad. During initial setup it would not pair to keyboard but it di see trackpad. I could not complete setup, I have no control.  Brought home USB keyboard from work and resumed setup. I'm stuck again. In setup it's asking for a trackpad click to continue. The trackpad will scroll, but will not click. The whole system is two days old and nothing works  I tried to contact support through the lengthy online screening process and apple ultimately say the new system doesn't qualify for free support.
Totally ******. I'm back to using my old pc..  What to do with this expensive boat anchor from apple?
Really could use some help here
    Thanks

  • How to connect wireless keyboard to new machine for setup?

I have a new Mac Mini Lion Server and only have wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. When I startup the Mac Mini and turn on the mouse and keyboard, mouse is connected but keyboard is not. I do not have a USB keyboard. How can I get the Mac Mini to recognize the wireless keyboard?

Having the same problem right now. Got my Mac Mini yesterday. tried to set it up but the keyboard from my windows computer didn't map. Went and bought a wireless keyboard and magic pad today, couldn't get it to work. will try your advise tomorrow. if that doesn't work, will return the whole package and get another windows PC. i do like my iPhone though. Maybe Apple should stick with making phones. Very disapointed for my wasted time and lack of explanation.

  • My wireless keyboard won't work for one of the users

All of a sudden the wireless keyboard stopped working for me, but it works when my wife logs in.  I had to create a new account for myself and the keyboard now works.  However, the keyboard won't work for my original account. Any thoughts?

Does it shows up as a device in your BT menu under the problematic user? Does it connect? If you delete it from your admin account and re-pair it, does it work?
There is a command called ioreg, which can help as well.
Here is sample output from ioreg -lw0 | grep -i keyboard

  • Bluetooth keyboard and Word 2008 for Mac after Yosemite

Bluetooth keyboard (apple) on 27 " iMac (mid 2010) won't work in Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac after Yosemite. It is paired and recognized and works normally otherwise.  Mouse works fine, too.

Follow up: After trying a number of different approaches I finally shut off the iMac and let it stay off for several minutes and then restarted it. This is something I had read that another user had tried and had worked for him. To my surprise, the keyboard now works in Word 2008. I have no idea if this will continue to work, or if it might work for any of you, but I would give it a try.
    Process:
    Shut Down your Mac
Let it stay off for several minutes
Power up and check to see if your bluetooth keyboard works in Word 2008.
    Good luck!

  • Apple wireless keyboard won't pair with mac or ipad

Just bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard. When I turn it on it is in discovery mode but doesn't want to pair.
Ipad 4 ios 7 : small window appears asking for a four-digit code and return. When I press these buttons nothing happens until half a minute later an error message appears saying ipad wasn't able to pair with the keyboard.
Macbook pro 13 (2009) mavericks : system preferences -> keyboard. When i try to add it the windows with the 8 digit code appears. Sometimes although i pressed one key it's telling me i pressed two. And it NEVER takes the RETURN key. ://

I would call AppleCare or take it in to an Apple store.....it may be faulty.

    Hello azureJTR,
I'm not sure if you have solved your issue yet or not...
To update your BlackBerry's operating system on a Mac is a simple procedure but you can only upgrade to the level that your wireless carrier has released to. I see you're using Bell and they are usually quick to update their offerings.
    Follow this guide item:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/32688/Update_device_applications_2.0_Mac...
New available versions of the BlackBerry's OS are shown when you click the "Show Other Versions" button. (Your BlackBerry needs to be connected for the Desktop software to know both what applications you have installed and the Operating System).
If a newer version than the one you currently have loaded is available in that menu, then do a backup then highlight the item then follow the onscreen commands.

  • Keyboard with integrated trackpad for Mac

Can anyone recommend  a keyboard (preferably wireless) with an integrated trackpad?  I have been using KeySonic ACK-540MAC-RF (UK) but the model has been discontinued.

The repeating function you want has been off by default since 10.7 was released 3 years ago.  That terminal command should normally do the trick.  Did you logout and login again?

  • Wireless Keyboard application SU-8W for Nokia Seri...

When I try to install the update for SU-8W, 27-Aug-2008 for N82 I get a message, update error.
The .sis is 1.31(5) I have tried via PC-Suite and via direct to phone download and receive the same update error both ways.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Following your advice I uninstalled v1.31.2 and noticed that if using download application on phone it wanted to provide v1.31.2 again but if downloaded on PC from SU-8W support then v1.31.3 was provided.
Although set to English there is no way that I can get it to print a "£" although "€" is no problem and it still produces unexpected results towards the right end of top line.
