Wireless lack stability on VPN

As of two months ago I started having an issue connecting to my work through our VPN.   I would connect and get dropped (even though the Internet connection remained strong) and had to reboot my laptop.   IT at work have adjusted settings and still cannot stay on VPN longer than 10 minutes from home.  To trouble shoot, I went to B&N over the weekend and was able to connect through the VPN without any issue and stayed on line over 30 minutes.  I also used a hot spot and was able to connect and stay through the VPN for over 1 hour.   I need some assistance.   I live in the Lynchburg area - zip code 24502.   What has Verizon changed in the home Internet connections?   This has been very frustrating.

Hi,
In this case, think it depends on the buffer of the printer (how much RAM it has). Some 200Kb documents can fill 64Mb printer RAM very quick. The printer needs instructions from the machine to finish its task(s). Probably you have to wait.

  • Verizon Wireless lack of respect for customer base!

I have never, ever in my life as a customer of Verizon Wireless been treated with such distain as yesterday! From multiple CSR's to a Manager who flat out told me his hands were tied in his position. From the lack of respect to lack of responsibility! Being a 5 year customer who's $190.00 a month for my own personal line, to be led around blind is disheartening. I am eligible for an upgrade in about 6.5 months. Recently dealing with iOS problems and a rising cell bill made me want to look into the upgrades and what the best options for me be it with Verizon or elsewhere. Wanted insight regarding the Edge program and do some comparing. Too say the least, I did NOT get any of those answers. Even after being escalated to a manager, a day later, I am uninformed and surprised regarding Verizon's lack of respect for their customer base! This morning I tried locating some contacts for upper management for Verizon and haven't been very successful! Does anyone have any contact info to voice my lack of concern within the company before allowing their customer service reps and entry level management to let their core base of customers walk? I would be appreciative!

  • Wireless Router WRT54G and VPN RV042

Respected member please help if u can! I have a ADSL with dynamic connected with wireless router wrt54g , i recently bought RV042 and want to connect wire coming from wireless with ports. so basically, i want to use RV042VPN using after router, is there a way i can use vpn behind wireless with port router using RV042
i cannot be able to establish connect in vpn because it not seeking any ip neither WAN/LAN.
    Solved!

If you are getting a public ip address from the ADSL device then connect RV042 to the AdSL device and then configure the settings for wrt54g connected to RV042.with DHCP disbled and connected from LAN on RV to  lan On WRT.

  • I am using an Airport Extreme for wireless and a Netgear VPN Switch for wired connections.  How do I get the two networks to connect?

I am using an Airport Extreme for wireless and also have a Netgear VPN Switch (FV5318) for internal wired ethernet connections.  How do I get the two networks to connect to each other?

Tesserax, I would like to keep the Airport Extreme in nplace before the Netgear FVS318 switch because I am using all of the 8 ethernet outputs distributed to 8 differerent locationsl  This way I can just use one of the LAN outputs from the Airport to feed the FVS318.  Here is what I think I am hearing you say:
Tne reason why the wired and wireless devices are not communicating is because the FVS318G is also a DHCP server and in conflict with the AEBS.
To remedy the situastion here is probably what I need to do in order:
    1. Change the LAN IP Address of the Netgear FVS318G to be the same subnet of the Airport Extreme.
    2. Then, disable the Netgear FVS318G as a DHCP server.
    3. Make sure the ethernet cable from the LAN port of the Airport Extreme connectis to the LAN port of the Netgear FVS318G.
    4. Restart everything.
Can you provide me the steps I need to take to get the right IP addresses from the Airport Extreme to put into the Netgear to fix the conflict?  I have the Airport Utility.  I also have two airport express hot spots, and two Apple TVs in addition to computers attached to the 8 ethernet lines.
    Thank you.

  • Lack of standard VPN support on BlackBerry

The way BlackBerry handles VPN especially for consumers are stuck in the last century. Wether the corporation needs BES added into their IT system is their call. But tons of corporation relies on IPSec L2TP or PPTP VPN for their employees to access internal network or emails. These protocols are industry standards for ages. Simply by only offering options for BES is a closed loop. Not to mention when you travel internationally to countries censors websites like Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube.

Currently PPTP isn't supported.  It should be coming through a future update.

  • Lightroom 1.0 lacks stability compared to beta 4.1

I use lightroom for developing 16 bit/color TIFF files (raw scans - approx. 115 MB each). I started to use lightroom 1 trial. It seems it much less stable than beta 4 and 4.1. I often have "out of memory" or "unknown error" error which never happened with beta. Does anyone encounter such problem?
It happens also that lightroom 1 terminates unexpectedly.
My database contains approx. 14 000 TIFF files and 3000 RAW files. Computer - P4 D 3GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP.

I have had Lightroom crash several time now.
    * It crashed on importing 16,000 files.
    * It crashed a number of times doing various library/develop operations.
    * It crashes every time if I select Myriad Web Pro "Bold/Italic" or Myriad Web TT "Bold/Italic" font for my identity plate. Have not found any other font that crashes.
I do not remember betas ever crashing on me.
I do not use nView. I do use Windows Vista. 2 GB RAM.

  • ADD WIRELESS TO VPN

i have a hp officejet 6500 a plus. i have this printer connected wireless to my network but can't print when i log on to my vpn?

    Hey cooneydf!
Unfortunately, when you are on a VPN that causes your LAN communications to be cut off for the most part. What this means is that you can't print to your printer wirelessly while on a VPN. However, if you do need the ability to print while on your VPN, you can do this a few different ways.
    1. You can hook your printer up to your computer via a usb cable. This will work at the same time as wireless so any other computers you have hooked up wirelessly to the printer will still work.
    2. You can use ePrint. If you have ePrint setup on your computer, then you should be able to print to it using the printer's email address even when you are on the VPN because it goes through a different process.
    Hope this helps!

  • [T400] Cisco VPN client not working over wireless adapter (but works on cabled connection)

I have a very strange problem.
I need to connect to my work via the cisco vpn client (version 5.0.00.0340).
My previous laptop (T43 , windows XP) worked well through both wired / wireless connections.  My desktop machine (vista) works via wired connection (it has no wireless connection).
On my new T400, the VPN client works via a wired connection but not via the wireless adapter.
On the wireless apapter, the vpn seems to connect OK, but when I try to access resources via the VPN there is little response.
I get this in the vpn log...
    405   08:56:57.073  04/16/09  Sev=Warning/2 IPSEC/0xE3700003
Function CniInjectSend() failed with an error code of 0xa4510009 (IPSecDrvCB:846)
I've tried disabling the firewall (in both the T400 and the router), removed access connections, and disabling tcp v6. I've rebooted everything too.
But, nothing seems to work.   I suspect the problem is on the t400 somewhere, because the old laptop used to work OK via wireless.
I've seen some google links on cisco vpn not working via  wireless but nothing seems to apply to my exact situation yet.
Anyone else had this problem or know of a fix? Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

all good now, got it working.
The Deterministic network thing was not installed on the wireless adapter for some reason.
So, I installed the latest wireless driver, reinstalled the vpn and all is good now.

  • EA3500 drops VPN connections via wireless

I don't have problems with the computer on other wireless connections with using VPN, so its not the laptop.  If I am connecting just to the internet and not trying to connect to the VPN i don't have any issues.   If I connect a CAT5 cable directly to the laptop I don't have any issues.  If I try to connect via the wireless the VPN will connect and then drop, usually every 30 to 60 seconds.  I have looked at the settings and can't see any that would make a difference.   Any suggestions on what might be happening and what I need to change on the settings?
    thanks

Maybe the wireless connection is not enough to handle wireless VPN connection. Try adjusting the wireless settings to improve the signal. Change the wireless channel under the 2.4 GHz to 6, 9, 11, and 1. And use 161 or 157 for the 5 GHz band.

  • Wlan and VPN

We are going to deploy Wireless on our network. Beside the suggested Cisco policy for securing wireless we also want to to secure it with VPN. Has anybody done this that can point me where to start. We have a 3000 concentrator, can I user the external interface for this? THanks.
Our Wlan is on an internal network vlan 252 and our lan is the is on different vlan. internal network is 10.13.xxx.xxx/24
    thanks.

i moved the AP to pub interface of 3000, on the same segment, i use a router to run as a dhcp server to provide ip to wireless client, after that, the wireless client need to vpn to 3000 to get to my inside network.

  • Look for a Good VPN router

I trying to find a wireless router that has VPN tunneling capabilities as well as Good for gaming. And will also allow me to access my home internet while traveling .

Look at www.polarcloud.com/tomato, in the FAQ, you will find a list of supported routers....get one of those (WRT54GL would be a good choice if you don't need Wireless N which isn't yet supported by Tomato anyway), then look at this thread for info on setting it up. The thread is lengthy, but it is worth it. The guys on Linksysinfo.org really know what they are doing.....
This VPN uses OpenVPN (an open source VPN solution) which is as secure as any commecial solution, and very firewall friendly. It may look complex, but it really is quite easy to set up.... There is a (kind of) GUI for the OpenVPN client machines (openvpn.se).
I think you will find it meets your needs.....

  • Fed up with VPN connection failures

Cant get a brand new laptop with built in wireless to get a VPN connection with a BEFW11s4 router. Internet is fine. An older laptop works fine. This new labtop even works beautifully with a wireless adapter, not the built in.
Called Linksys tech support line and they wouldnt even check anything. Basically dismissed me and said its the computer (did I mention is brand new??)Now I read all the problems people are having with VPN and their routers and I cant believe they lied to me.

What do you use for the VPN connection? IPSEC? If you only are using the passthrough function on the router, it can only allow 1 IPSEC session at a time. If you are also using other VPN softwares for that, you may need to open up ports 1723 500 50 51 and 47. This is because your router firewall maybe the cause. Try that first on a static IP for that wireless card. Try to also check if the "wired " connection to your VPN works before going wireless, you would need to do this first regardless of any brand of router...ayt?!

    I want :
    1.  to have everything working together, with remote access from anywhere on the internet, file sharing, streaming & transfer.
    2.  the security of a VPN connection.
I will soon update my existing router w/an Airport Extreme.  What VPN/Remote Access client(s) should I get? Is there one solution for both jobs, or do I need to get more than one service?  I have looked at LogMeIn, Witopia.  Thanks for the help.

I've been down this road and settled on a much simpler solution...
VPNs are ok... but the performance is bad, they send TCP packets inside TCP packets... which is a bad thing, some connections completely break down. security is o-k, but openVPN is much better yet more complicated to set up. Also you have to go through all the mess of setting up the server.
I tried using VPNs for a while, and then instead settled with tunneling specific connections over ssh... it is more secure and elegant, there is no server setup, however it is not seemless.. you have to set up the connections/ports individually each time, this can get messy if you want access to lots of things at once.
I eventually came accross sshuttle, and this is what i have stuck with because it's just bloody great... it's like a VPN but uses SSH. So you don't have to set up a VPN server... you just need access to an ssh server (i.e your home mac with "remote login" (ssh) enabled, and your router to foward ssh requests to that machine).
not only do you not have to mess around with server configs, but it also give far better performance, stability, and the security of ssh (i.e whichever cypher you want). This is because unlike VPN, sshuttle pulls the TCP packets apart before sending them over SSH (which is allready using TCP) and then re-assembles them the other side with python. the result is comparably better performance and stability than VPN protocols.
you can route individual IPs from the servers subnet, or tell it to automatically find and merge all host names / IPs it can find with your current subnet.
    Theory of Operation
sshuttle is not exactly a VPN, and not exactly port forwarding. It's kind of both, and kind of neither.
It's like a VPN, since it can forward every port on an entire network, not just ports you specify. Conveniently, it lets you use the "real" IP addresses of each host rather than faking port numbers on localhost.
On the other hand, the way it works is more like ssh port forwarding than a VPN. Normally, a VPN forwards your data one packet at a time, and doesn't care about individual connections; ie. it's "stateless" with respect to the traffic. sshuttle is the opposite of stateless; it tracks every single connection.
You could compare sshuttle to something like the old Slirp program, which was a userspace TCP/IP implementation that did something similar. But it operated on a packet-by-packet basis on the client side, reassembling the packets on the server side. That worked okay back in the "real live serial port" days, because serial ports had predictable latency and buffering.
But you can't safely just forward TCP packets over a TCP session (like ssh), because TCP's performance depends fundamentally on packet loss; it must experience packet loss in order to know when to slow down! At the same time, the outer TCP session (ssh, in this case) is a reliable transport, which means that what you forward through the tunnel never experiences packet loss. The ssh session itself experiences packet loss, of course, but TCP fixes it up and ssh (and thus you) never know the difference. But neither does your inner TCP session, and extremely screwy performance ensues.
sshuttle assembles the TCP stream locally, multiplexes it statefully over an ssh session, and disassembles it back into packets at the other end. So it never ends up doing TCP-over-TCP. It's just data-over-TCP, which is safe.
Anyway, you can find it on github here https://github.com/apenwarr/sshuttle
if you uncomfortable using the command line, someone has also bundled it into an app here: https://github.com/apenwarr/sshuttle/commits/dist/macos
IMPORTANT, the latest version invokes a bug in one of apple's drivers after a while which causes a kernel panic, (this isn't the same as the bug where you have to reset your network interface like it says in the readme, this WILL cause a kernel panic) stick with version 0.53 untill ether Apple fixes the bug, or sshuttle stops antagonising it. 0.53 works perfectly at the moment. you can ether install git and clone the specific version or download the 0.53 app here instead:
    http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/sshuttle-Download-97917.html
alternatively, if your loging in from linux there aren't any problems with 0.60 because the system would have different dirvers of course.
One last note... you said you wanted everything to work together, one thing that will not work over VPNs, SSH, and sshuttle is bojour... this is significant because things like AFP shares wont pop up automatically, you will have to specify them ... i.e command+k in finder and type AFP://192.168.0.x or VNC://192.168.0.x etc this is because none of these options support multicasting which bonjour requires. This isn't such a big deal so long as you know what services are available on your machine and how to manually connect to them (like i said above)
