Wireless mirroring to ROKU

Has anyone found a way to stream video / audio to a ROKU for output on to a televison display or audio output?

I do not believe that is a feature of either a Roku or a Mac computer.

    Thanks!

  • How can I wirelessly mirror my iMac to 3 different displays?

I work at a school and they have digital picture frames set up on 3 floors that just run a slide show of images stored on the attached USB drives, but they are horrible quality and one just broke. I'm trying to find a solution that will allow me to replace these digital picture frames with monitors that can be placed on each floor and all be running the same slide show mirrored from one computer, wirelessly.
At first I thought maybe just get apple TV boxes and use airplay to mirror the iMac, but I there has to be a better way, designed specifically for that purpose.
    What is the best solution?

For schools , most technicians connect these TVs to a computer via DVI or VGA and create a video of the pictures.
If you were to do this you could setup a simple FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server on your main computer with the video stored on it. Then use each of the client computers (Ones connected to the TVs) to play the video on a loop and update the video every time you want new pictures.
This would be reletivly cheap to setup if there are any old computers that are not in use that have LAN access.
If each computer had WLAN , you could connect them all together with a cheap router.

  • How can I wirelessly mirror my Macbook Pro on my Apple TV

    Please Help!

I don't think it's possible to mirror the MBP's display wirelessly.  As far as I know the MBP only outputs the signal from the graphics card thru the mini-displayport/Thunderbolt port.  You can stream media files from iTunes to Apple TV using AirPlay, but obviously that's different from mirroring the display.

  • Time Capsule vs. existing wireless mirrored hdd

    Greetings,
I've recently purchased a network hard drive (1TB mirrored) connected to my AE(n) for wireless connectivity. I'm trying to find out if there's anything really different about that vs. Time Capsule backup wise via Time Machine.
In a nutshell: can i use time machine to back up all 3 of my macs to my existing wireless drive, or is there something in the Time Capsule box / Time Machine software that prevents it?
note: i've found that if i create a user on my existing network hdd and mount it as a network drive then go to TM there's not an option to see this network drive.
I fully understand no one has TC yet, just hoping someone knows

The official line from Apple is described here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306833
...and by inference, Time Machine backups to NAS devices are not supported. There has been a lot of speculation as to why Apple has put in place this limitation - you can look that up with an internet search (as well as a hack to get around this Time Machine limitation at your own risk). Exactly what Apple has done in designing Time Capsule so that they can support use of this particular NAS device with Time Machine is - currently - unknown.

  • Wireless mirroring not working

I don't see the option for video mirroring on my iPad 2 so that I can mirror on my apple tv. Both are updated. What am I missing?

Try resetting the printer.  Turn it off and hold the # and 9 keys while and a bit after turning it back on.
If this does not work, this is how to contact HP support: www.hp.com/go/totalcare  Please call them.

  • HT204291 Get AirPlay mirroring (or similar functionality) with a cable (not wireless)?

Is there a way to mirror my ipad screen to my macbook pro with just an old fashioned cable?
This may sound crazy, but I need to project ipad applications for demonstrations, and I need to be able to do this on corporate networks that don't support multicast DNS. Is this possible?

Not that I know of, 3rd party programs that do this facilitate wireless mirroring.

  • Will the Westell 7500 wireless work with the Roku 2 XD Player?

I've never used the wireless router before. I got it from Verizon years ago and it's sat untouched in a box. I'm sorry if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find the post. I need to find out if the router is compatible and how to set the two systems up before I go out and buy the Roku.

Yes it will work wireless(wifi), the roku supports wireless.

You asked a very similar question in your other post. Perhaps if you tell us exactly what you are trying to do we will be able to give you better answers.
Yes, though there are actually 3 different use cases, here I'm just looking for displaying the same content on two computers that are on the same network.
Should have thought of vnc before I asked

  • Wireless Video Mirror on iPad2

    Hi,
I saw a clip on YouTube showing an iPad2 using the HP wireless TV connect to create a wireless mirror onto a TV. If you added a HDFury2, you would have a wireless mirror onto a data projector. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnM8ciByJps&feature=player_embedded#at=53
Would Apple ever consider making a wireless HDMI Digital AV device that would allow us to mirror the iPad2 onto a a TV or projector.
The cable will work, but who wants this.

And when you are going to add WHDI also to iphone - same idea, and the big screen while I am at home is even more necessary. There are more demos of iphone and iPad on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/pages/WHDI/171922529516461 or on linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=3851524&trk=anetuggrppro

If you have an iPad 2 you can wirelessly mirror it to your TV via the ATV device. If you have an iPad 1 then you can use airplay but not all apps are enabled to push video, as the developer needs to do this.
You can also view all local content from iTunes or your iPad, pushed via airplay/home-sharing.
The other services available are iTunes movie rentals, TV shows (past purchases viewable from the cloud), Photo Stream, Netflix, Vimeo, Podcasts, Youtube, Sports etc.

  • CX70 wireless display capabilities.

    Hello all,
I am thinking about getting a NetGear NeoTV smart tv device. But before I do, I am wondering if my laptop would be able to use the WIDI (wireless display) functionality.
    CX70:
    INTEL CORE I7 3630QM
    NVIDIA GEFORCE GT645M
I've read on some internet posts that this can only be done if all components in the pc/laptop are Intel...but I am not at all sure how accurate that is.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Communities.
Just my opinion but watching your computer mirrored on a tv screen is positively mundane. The Apple tv and other devices too, tailor the experience for the living room and eliminate the mundane parts of watching Internet content.
There may well be some way of wirelessly mirroring your Apple computer on a tv with only Apple supplied parts, but it's not something that would be of interest to me when I have an Apple tv already.
