Wireless mouse keeps disconnecting

My Apple wireless mouse keeps disconnecting about every third time when I put the computer to sleep and wake it up later.  I have to reboot to re-establish the bluetooth connection.  What can I do to fix this?

There has been a lot of discussion about this.  This thread has many suggestions.  https://discussions.apple.com/message/13074761?messageID=13074761#13074761
I have had this problem on an off (no pun intended) for a very long time.  Had my mouse replaced once at the Apple Store.  Contacted Apple Care about it also when it first occured.   Sometimes changing the batteries helps.  If I am using rechargeables, Energizers seem to fit best.  In one of the threads, someone showed a photo of how the battery contacts are actually different on different brands and suggested that is one reason this occurs.  I find that resetting the SMC is what eventually I have to do and that is what Apple Care suggested also.  I haven't found a permanent fix yet and I don't really expect to, but doing this does give me much longer periods of time without a recurrence.

It is annoying.  I keep my old wired mouse close by so I can get to it quickly.

  • My wireless mouse keeps disconnecting.

Battery shows 76%. Brand new. Any ideas?

Problem solved. My cordless phone sitting on my computer table was jamming the bluetooth devices. When I disconnected the cordless phone everything worked OK. If you are using wireless devices move them away from the computer.

  • Can anyone explain why my Apple Wireless mouse annoyingly disconnects every 4 or 5 minutes or so? It then remains disconnected for about 20 seconds before reconnecting again? Batteries are good but at a loss ... worked fine for year!

Can anyone please explain why my Apple wireless mouse keeps disconnecting from my imac? The batteries are good and the mouse in good clean order. Never had an issue previoulsy but now every 4 or 5 minutes the mouse diconnects and takes 20 seconds or so to connect again. Anyone else experienced this one?
    Thanks
    Jon.

Some folk have reported a similar issue apparently caused by the batteries being a bit loose in their box. The suggested fix for that is to insert a thin piece of cardboard between the battery cover and the batteries.

  • HT2845 why does my wireless mouse keep losing connection?

    Good morning,
My wireless mouse keeps losing connection...my batteries are at 100% and the "discoverable" option is checked off.  Why is this happening?

    Hi:
PRAM=parameter random access memory - reset like this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
SMC=system management controller reset like this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Sometimes resetting these "fixes" odd problems - and it cannot hurt.
To make a device a favorite, go to system preferences>bluetooth.  Highlight the device.  If detailed information is not shown, click oin the little gear>show more info.  Then click on the gear again and make the device a favorite.

  • Wireless connection keeps disconnecting - Satellite C650 16U

    Hi
My wireless connection keeps disconnecting frequently and I have to manually reconnect it. I don't think it is a router issue as this doesn't happen with other laptop that is used in my house. Any ideas why this is?
    Thanks

    Hi mate
I recommend checking the power saving settings in Win 7 power management.
There you can change (disable) the power saving for WLan card.
    This helped in my case.
    Please also check this thread:

As I said; power management setting is the key you should also update the WLan driver!

  • Wireless keyboard keeps disconnecting and reconnecting

My Wireless Keyboard keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and typing by it self!! any ideas?

    Hi,
Yes believe it or not my problem was caused by the keyboard being too close to the iMac display, the bluetooth was infering with the other radio signals coming from the antenna, it needs to be at least 1ft away from the display (30cm) to prevent this (this won't help those of you with small computer tables/desks)
    Hope this works for you....

  • Wireless keyboard and mouse keep disconnecting

Hello   I have had my imac for about a year and a half (Dec. 2009).  recently (fall 2010- now) the keyboard and mouse are disconnecting.  They do it all the time.  It is starting to interfere with my recording and editing big time to the point where I have to stop working.   I keep them stocked with batteries.  They disconnect at the same time or separately and the mouse is especially hard to get reconnected.  Has anyone found a real solution to this or is Apple just avoiding it by asking for more money and saying our warrantees are up?  You cant even talk to them without paying $50.   Like we didnt pay well over a thousand dollars for our computers.  All I see in the forums is more and more people with the problem and no solution.      Step up apple,   please this is impossible to deal with
          Thanks anyone for any help

There are things to do with an issue such as this one.
    1. You must ask yourself if this is a hardware issue:
Try brand new batteries, if that doesn't fix the issue then you must try this.
Best way to isolate this issue is to boot into the install dvd of your mac osx.
    Why?
The behavior on the boot disk enviroment is totally different than the operating system while running from the hard disk. If you can recreate the issue there then its a hardware issue.
    If hardware:
    reset the pram (research it)
If the issue is unable to recreate in the boot disk enviroment but you can in the regular enviroment then you can isolate it to software issue:
    Software troubleshooting:
    1. Remove configuration file for bluetooth:
    10.6: machd/library/preferences
    10.5 userfolder/library preferences
    file: com.apple.bluetooth.plist.
    Reboot.
A combination of pram reset and plist removal works well. If it may help, use a usb mouse to remove the pairing of bluetooth then readd devices.

  • Why does magic mouse keep disconnecting?

I've got an Apple Magic Mouse  that is less than one year old and it keeps disconnecting from my Mac Mini.  It just started doing it.  I've put in fresh batteries and restarted the computer.   I've got all the latest operating system software.   Nothing is out of date.   Every couple of minutes it just randomlly disconnects then reconnects and so on, over and over again.  It's only about 2 feet away from my Mac Mini.
    Anybody know what to do?
    Thanks.
    David

I thank you for your help, Ascendi, but I have no idea what you're saying.  I'm guessing I stand alone, because others do understand.  What I got from it was that the batteries don't fit snuggly, and to shove aluminum foil... somewhere.  I'm don't have a PhD in battery terminal dimensions and their terminonolgy.  But I do appreciate that you helped.
David / Flashkube2... EXACTLY!  After years and years with my wonderful white Magic Mouse, just today the exact same thing started happening, only I was losing connection every 20 seconds.  Half the time, I'd get it back.  I feared it was a Bluetooth error, or a hacker was "stealing my juice"  So I got online here, read this stuff, wiggled my batteries around (for years and years, I've only used Duracel), and for the last 10 minutes, I have kept connection with Mr. Mouse and Mr. Mac.  Keep your fingers crossed!
So if this problem arises again, I just stuff aluminum foil in there?  (I'll be a wee bit neater than "stuff").  Speak "positive terminal" and "negative terminal" and "top of the batteries" to me, because "depth of the recess" and "vernier caliper" are Chinese to me.  Does "battery recess" mean how the two batteries sit in its casing?
Maybe I just didn't have enough coffee this morning.  I'm not ususally shtooo-pid.  (don't go there!)

  • Wireless mouse keeps turning on comperter

i have a  new lenovo pc and a hp wireless mouse that i purchased nearly every time i close down the computer it comes back on  this doesn't seem to happen when a ordinary wire  mouse is used i am not sure if the computer is faulty or its the hp wireless mouse that keeps starting up the computer. any help thanks

Simple answer, Some device settings can cause the computer to return from a power savings state unexpectedly. This can cause the computer to wake from sleep mode for no apparent reason. Activity from devices such as a Wireless Mouse, Network, or High Definition Audio can cause the computer to wake.
You must follow this tutorial step-by-step. Here it is. Failure will lockout the only way into your system.

  • USB mouse keeps disconnecting

My USB mice keeps disconnecting under Mavericks. It cuts out for so long that the only solution is to unplug it and immediately plug it back in. That solves it for a short while. If I am in system preferences it will intermittingly say no mouse is connected. It is a Logitech mouse and I have even removed the Logitech drivers as these were having the same problem.

I uninstalled the Logitech drivers and it still did not fix the problem. So I guess I will have to wait till there is an update to Mavericks. With the the problems with iTunes not detecting app updates as well, it will probably be a big update.

  • H530 Mouse keeps disconnecting

My mouse just keeps disconnecting and reconnecting all the time, often several times in a row. When it does I hear the sound that comes when you plug in a USB device. I tried different mice and USB ports. Restarting the computer doesn't help. I also unchecked the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option on all the USB controllers as is suggested when you make a search for the issue.
Here is the funny thing: I closed the HD audio manager task in the task manager because I assumed it didn't serve a purpose. After that, whenever the mouse disconnected, the volume lowered significantly. After rebooting the computer, the audio manager was running again and that problem was gone. I remember deinstalling several programs that came with the systems that looked unnecessary. Before that, I didn't have the problem with the disconnecting mouse. I think I can probably fix it by reinstalling the service or whatever it was that that I deleted that was important.
Does anyone have an idea what this program could be and where I can find it? Or maybe a list of all the programs that came with the system (Lenovo H530 bought at the 7th of may '14). Or does anyone have another solution to my problem?

    hi Dr_Mario,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Boot hte machine in Safe Mode and observe the stock mouse and keyboard: If the unit works fine, perform a clean boot and observe.
    2. Ensure that you have the Black Silk USB driver installed

  • Wireless mouse keeps losing connection.  Why?

My wireless mouse has been working well for about a year now but recently it's being losing its connection to the iMac a lot.  Like 20 times during an 8 hour workday.  Everytime it does I have to double click it and wave it around a lot before it reconnects. It's not the batteries, there are no new wireless sources that I can see via SSID, and I haven't played hackey sack with it or anything.  What else might be causing this?

This is probably a mechanical problem, not an issue with your Bluetooth conneciton or the mouse software.
The batteries are probably disconnecting - No power. No bluetooth.
    Try this.
Flip your mouse over and remove the battery cover.
grab your business card and fit the end of it across the compartment - you're going to create a little padding between the batteries and the cover.
Mark the width on the card with a pencil and cut the card to fit.
Place the card on top of the batteries and close the cover.
The switch is going to need a fingernail to slide it now, but your batteries shouldn't disconnect as you move the mouse around.
    Or try this.
Get a little aluminum foil, fold it up into a little square and fit it between the -ve end of each battery and the springy contact. Not as secure but does the same thing.

  • Wireless router keeps disconnecting...

    Hello there,
I own a Linksys Wireless Router (BERW11S4). I recently updated it's firmware to the latest version (1.52.02) which supports WPA-PSK (TKIP).
I have set the group renewal interval of 7200 seconds, which is the max the software will accept.
My problem is after a certain period, it keeps disconnecting, which i believe is because of the group renewal interval, which can't be turned off. How do I eliminate this problem as it is really annoying to keep re-connecting half-way everytime?
    Thanks in advance.

still disconnecting every hour and then...
    please help. im so frustrated.
any other settings i should try?
    or solution?
