Wireless mouse/keyboard?

I'm looking for a good two-button mouse/keyboard to go with my new MacBook Pro. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!

I had this problem twice, each with two different causes and solutions.
Once, it came from having two different kinds of devices on the same Hub. Apparently there is a difference in low draw and heavy draw USB devices, and having multiple wireless devices on the same hub can SOMETIMES cause a conflict. this I found in my researching on line. In this case, it was a wireless mouse. When i put the mouse reciever on a different, non powered and solo port and off the main hub, the problem solved itself. I don't know enough techie stuff to say what the problem exactly was, but I can recommend trying different combinations of using different ports and hubs and seeing if that helps.
the other situation was with a kensington keyboard and mouse Wireless Mac Desktop, and this was just last month. Beautiful item, but it kept unsyncing randomly and it drove me crazy! I finally got a hold of tech support at the company. they told me it had been DISCONTINUED from technical errors. So i returned it to the company and was told they would replace it free with the replacement model, that was black instead of white, but otherwise the same feature. The local store is still awaiting the replacement from their supplier, but Im not sure if its kensington or a middle person causing the problem.
Good luck! I hope I helped.

  • Wireless mouse/keyboard intermittent dis-connects

In the last three days, I have looked at over 20 different posts regarding wireless mouse/keyboard disconnect problems. Thew fixes ranged all over the board and NONE fixed it. And, none of these problems matched mine exactly, except for one other. I too, have two iMacs and this problem has over the last few days gotten increasingly worse and irritating. Regardless of what you're doing, whether it is actual productive work, or playing a stupid game on your computer, when your mouse quits responding, and the graphic flashed on the screen "MOUSE DISCONNECTED", it irritates.
I think a senior apple tech finally pin-pointed the problem, at least for my two systems. It has nothing at all to do with Bluetooth or Wireless networking. I tried ALL of those fixes including resetting the SMC. None fixed it.
Here is what the tech had me do. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > My Login, I then clicked on "Login items. I was astounded to see a list that exceeded the size of the window of "startup" programs that have been installed from iTunes Helper, to Dropbox to blah, blah, blah. You name it. He had me remove ALL of them except iTunes Helper. one item "Connect service (all users) could not be removed. However, as we later discussed, the specific item the I believe to be the culprit was "Bittorrent". I've forgotten what I downloaded that used that as the download agent, but in the future, I shall NEVER AGAIN use it for ANY reason. I also removed from the applications area, some non-used programs (that probably weren't the problem, but...), emptied the trash, re-booted and have not had the problem since. I want to stress here, that if your problem is actually Bluetooth or Wireless network related, this will not fix it. However, my mouse had gotten really molassesy in that when I would try to quickly move from one spot to another on the screen, it took some time to catch up, as if something else had control. That's what I think Bittorrent or someone trying to share one of my files was causing. I don't share my files. Period. I didn't realize that it could be subverted to that use of I wouldn't have ever used it in the first place.
Anyway, neither one of my iMacs has exhibited ANY of the former symptoms since clearing that list on each system. Turns out, my second iMac also had Bittorrent in the list. That's about the only thing the two have in common besides Yosemite 10.10.3. Maybe this will help, maybe it won't. I sure hope it does. Forums like this one are extremely helpful to me.

I had the same problem... didn't find anything useful in the forums.  Just on a whim, I went to the
Control Panel | Device Manager | Universal Serial Bus Controllers
For each "Hub", right click and select "properties"
On each properties page, select "Power Management" tab
On each power management tab "uncheck" the "Allow the computer to turn off..."
I did this for the Generic USB Hubs, the USB Root Hubs, and the Reneasas...Hub.   After that was completed, all USB ports started working immediately.  So far, they are staying working but it has only been an hour or so.   Will report back if this doesn't stick.    Also, there may be a more elegant solution... but this works for now.

  • Problems with wireless mouse, keyboard

Since last year, I've been trying to get the Apple wireless mouse and keyboard to work efficiently, without success. Even when both work, they eat batteries voraciously. Moreover, the connection to my G5 is constantly being lost, and is very difficult to reestablish.

    Dear Robert,
This could be an issue with your bluetooth board. Probably the board is not functioning well or the signals are really weak hence there is a quicker battery drain on both mouse and key board. You can check the settings of the wireless keyboard and mouse on the system preference and check. Also It will be a good idea to reset the PMU once and re-pair the device together.
Note: Dont mix used and unused batteries , also when testing try new batteries which meet the specification.
    Hope this information is helpful.
    Good Day!

  • Problems with wireless mouse/keyboard after upgrade to snow leopard

    Hi!
I am wondering if someone has some insight for me.  I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. I have been using a Logitech S 530 wireless keyboard/mouse combo for a few years.  I am now having problems with them irratically.
    1. When on line and the page is large, I often cannot move the blue bar at the bottom of the screen to scroll to the right. What happens is like a stutter; as I am dragging the bar, it and the page shake rapidly side-to-side. Sometimes, I can drag it to the right, but as soon as I let go, it snaps back to the left.  This does not happen in Word.
    2. When in boxes with dropdown options, only occasionally does that happen.  The dropdown either doesn't show, or it flashes quickly.  Sometimes it will work after clicking many times. This happens with dropdown menus as well as search boxes that have dropdown choices for previous searches or suggested searches a la Google.
    3. When I use my function key or mouse to display all windows, I can't choose the one I want.  Regardless of which one I put my cursor over, only the left-most one is highlighted and comes to the front when I click.
    4. There is a varying lag. Sometimes the system is responsive, and other times there is a lag of varying lengths before the system responds to the mouse action (click, drag, zoom, etc.)
    5. For a while, my left mouse button wouldn't work.  I reconfigured it, that seems to have done the trick.
    6. Today, I can't open any of the menu items on Firefox.  I can move the cursor there, but when I click on any of them, nothing happens. This is okay in Safari.
I have disconnected and reconnected the usb, restarted the computer, and tried to reinstall the software for the mouse and keybord. When I did that, I got a message saying it couldn't install on the current OS, so I went to Logitech and dowloaded and installed the latest version (which indicated it is for OS X 10.6.8.)
I don't know if this is a Snow Leopard problem, but it started sometime after I upgraded.  Thanks in advance for any help!
    Donna

Update all your third party software  or uninstall and reinstall 10.6 versions.
If your going to 10.7, be warned a lot of software will not work at all and your 10.5 era machine will be slow, perhaps even have problems as 10.7 is problematic on older hardware.

IMO save for a new 10.8 machine after this summer.

  • Logitech Wireless Mouse & Keyboard....

    Hello,
I took the Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo off of my PC (since I no longer have to suffer using it thanks to my new iBook) and plugged it into my new favorite laptop. Although the Logitech box says that it's for PC only, I'm using the keyboard & mouse right now. I have yet to try and install the software from the CD because I don't think that will work.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any input or reassurance that this won't mess up my prized iBook. O yah, I also have a separate Logitech mouse that I have the Logitech software installed for, and it doesn't recognize my new imput devices.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

I have the Logitech Tracball which I like very much. The new drivers that Logitech came out with "1.6.2" don't work and makes your iBook non-functional for use. The Tracball is very comfortable and fast when working, unfortunately the company doesn't stand behind its products very well. I use contextual menu's a lot and found that "One Click" worked for awhile but the new down load of 10.4.4 is not yet compatible. Maybe the Apple Mighty Mouse next.

  • IMac wireless mouse/keyboard unavailable after awakening from sleep - OS X 10.10.3

I am using an iMac21 inch late 2012. Has been working perfectly until I upgraded to OS X 10.10.3. Now when the iMac wakes from sleep neither the mouse or keyboard are connected. The only recourse is to force a hard restart with the power button.
i have tried the following to no avail:
    SMC reset
    PRAM/NVRAM reset
reboot (reconnects until computer sleeps & reawakens)
    bluetooth off/on
    repaired Bluetooth devices
    Removed & reconfigured devices
I have set sleep (in Energy Preferences) to wait indefinitely & that has 'resolved' my issue. Albeit with an increase in energy use. Of course this isn't a fix.
I Would be grateful if anybody had some tips on how to resolve this situation.
    thanks

  • Losing Wireless Mouse & Keyboard Settings on Restart

Every time I restart my MacBook Pro, I lose my settings for my wireless mighty mouse and the set functions for buttons like F12 (Dashboard) etc. I have to reselect them periodically, sometimes twice before restarting. I noticed two ButtonManager.app items on my login items N067U and N124U. Could that be the problem?

I've got the same issue. Any solutions?
    thanks.

  • What is the best wireless mouse/keyboard combo for the Mac mini.

Right now I'm using a Logitech k360 keyboard/mouse combo that works great on my pc but it's horrible on my Mac mini. I'm even debating whether I should return the Mac mini because I think something may be wrong with it. Also, my Mac mini is inside of my entertainment center which has a glass door on it, could this be part of the problem?

This should be no issue whatsoever.  I have a very similar setup
with the Mini inside and enternainment center w/glass doors.
Just make sure there is enough room to have sufficient air flow
    around it.
Is yours constucted out of wood or metal?
....I'm even debating whether I should return the Mac mini because I think something may be wrong with it.
Are the keyboard mouse issues the only issue or is there
something else in addition to that?
What exatly do you mean by working horrible?  Just what is
actually going on when you use them.  As I see on the website
Logitech only specs Windows OSes, it could be a driver issue.
Also, if this is the new Mini, do you have external USB3.0 drives
connected to it?  There have been issues with Bluetooth, however
the Logitech specs do not state that it is Bluetooth but could
    still be affected.

  • My wireless mouse does not work-how do I link it by wired keyboard?  Is there a key stroke to open system preferences?

My wireless mouse, keyboard and keypad for my iMac have all become unlinked for some reason.  Just turned it on, no linkage.  I do have a wired keyboard that I connected in order to sign on.  Now I cannot choose system preferences and link my wireless devices without my mouse.  What key strokes are used to choose the Apple, the system preferences in the dock, or some way to start the linking process?

First, make sure your batteries are fully charged; you can also use alkaline batteries if you want. When you insert the batteries, press the depressed button on the right side of your keyboard/wireless mouse; both should automatically "link" onto your computer via bluetooth connection.
Also, make sure the bluetooth devices are linked by going to System Preferences/Bluetooth, and make sure the "On" and "Discoverable" boxes are checked.
And please, post here if you've achieved success.

  • Turning off mouse & keyboard

I would like to know if there would be battery consumption on the wireless mouse & keyboard when the Imac is turned off.I see an off switch on the mouse & I do turn it to off.Not sure how to turn off the keyboard though,Will battery still be used when Mac is turned off?

    Hi Don!
A couple of "bits" of information:
I've had this machine about 3 months now, and the battery level for the keyboard is still showing 100%. However, I've had to change the batteries in the mouse about a month ago, and it's now reporting 50%.
This is a problem (incorrect battery readings) that apparently started with OS X 10.6.7. The readings are consistently high.  The problem has been reported and the "powers that be" are aware of the issue.  I suspect a future release will take care of the incorrect reading issue.  In the meantime, the "mighty monitor" widget that runs under Dashboard seems to have correct readings.
I have been using rechargeable batteries and a 15 minute charger (all obtained on eBay new at a reasonable price).  I happen to be using Energizers (2450 mAh).  Although the batteries do not last as long as Lithium batteries, the cost is less over a period of time.  Rechargeables also are "feel good" as they are environmentally friendly.
    Regards,
    Barry
P.S.  My mighty mouse does require batteries more often than my keyboard, although I suspect it is because I use the mouse a lot as I type VERY slowly.

  • Wireless Mouse Battery Life

    Hi
I am using a wireless mouse and keyboard and the new batteries I had installed in my mouse need replacing in less than a month.
Is this normal? I would've thought that new batteries would last longer than that.
    Thanks

Less than one month seems short to me. My iMac has wireless mouse & keyboard and I had to replace mouse batteries a few days ago. Keyboard still OK. This is on the iMac bought November 2005 but is not used as much as my tower I must admit. Usage must be a factor.

  • When i wake my iMac there is no wireless mouse or keyboard functionality. I have to reboot the computer to make them work.

If my imac is left sleeping for any length of time there is no wireless mouse or keyboard functionality and the imac keeps returning to sleep. I have to hold the power button to wake the machine as the mouse and keyboard do not work. T o rectify the problem i have to hold the power button until the mac switches off and then re-boot the machine.

Don't sleep the computer and its HDs, just the display. I've been doing that for years, run 24/7, and never have an issue, but then again I only use wired keyboards and mice.

  • Can I use one wireless mouse and keyboard for a MB and a pc?

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a lcd display which basically has both dvi and vga ports. So, I thought I will plug my pc into the vga and my MB into the DVI and use the same display for both machines. I just need to switch between the source through the display menu in order to switch. Now the problem is I can't seem to fiigure out how to use a single wireless KB and a mouse to run in both systems.
    Anyone has any idea?

    jhawk,
I can see the appeal of your desired setup, but is the limitation the inability to "Pair" the mouse/keyboard to more than one computer at a time? (Practically, that makes sense, you don't want to be blindly moving both cursors around at the same time, since you can only see one screen at a time)
You CAN operate bluetooth devices on Windows without pairing-you just need to locate the device each time before using:
    http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wireless/2003/09/18/winxpunwired.html
So maybe you can pair the Mac version, and just search out the device each time you switch over? (but then you would have to "unpair" it off the Mac too) Maybe you need to write two scripts for each platform: pair/unpair devices.
Sounds like it would be easier to buy two wireless keyboards and mice :P
What you really want is a utility like this:
    http://www.abyssoft.com/software/teleport/
(its only Mac to Mac though, unfortunately)
    Good luck!

  • Macbook Pro Retina (15") can't connect to wireless mouse and external USB keyboard

    Hi All,
I got my new MacBook Pro Retina (15 inch) about 3 weeks ago. It works fine. I got a 30" Dell screen that I am using via thunderbolt/usb adapter. Also, I am using a thunderbolt ethernet adapter. Both adapters work fine without any problems.
I have an apple usb keyboard connected to the USB hub of the screen, as well as my iphone cable. It is a regular, full size apple keyboard. In addition to this, I have a logitech nano connected directly to the right usb port of the macbook pro.
This setup was working well until a few days ago. I lost connectivity with my mouse. Initially, I thought the batteries are empty. After replacing them, I still had no connection (again, the usb receiver is *directly* connected to the macbook).
I changed a few cables here and there and noticed that I can get either the keyboard to work or the mouse but not both at the same time. A reboot did not help.
Did anybody encounter such a strange problem already? If so, what could I possibly do?
    Thank You,
    --Martin

    Hello nikkig00,
It is certainly difficult to use the computer if your wireless keyboard and mouse do not connect.  I found a few resources I recommend for this issue.
I recommend reviewing this article first:
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3048
If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing the section titled "Top troubleshooting tips" in the article below.  Step 9 specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
    9. Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.
