Wireless Mouse not tracking properly

I have been using a wireless mouse for 2+ years without any issue. Last few days the mouse does not track smoothly across the screen but "jumps" all over the place. Changed the batteries, reset the bluetooth, rebooted, ect... but problem resurfaces after a few hours.
There have been no changes to the physical location (i.e. interference).
Any ideas ??

You own the Mighty Mouse. I would recommend doing a SMC reset after you have cleaned the mouse. Here is how you do each:
Cleaning
Using a clean sheet of white paper using a lot of vigor rub the mouse ball on the paper for about 30-60 seconds while depressing the mouse ball. The goal is to dislodge any dirt and gunk that has built up beneath the ball and on it's surface.
SMC Reset
Read the instructions carefully you are looking for instructions for an Intel based iMac.

  • Aluminum Wireless Keyboard not working properly after Firmware update 1.1

    Hi,
Well, as the subject says, my keyboard is not working properly after I updated the firmware. The problem is that several keys (delete, down arrow, brackets and apostrophe) stopped working right after I installed the update. I never dropped it or hit it. And I did not stop or interrupt or did anything during the install. I take very good care of it.
I have already tried toubleshooting with the support page, restarting the iMac, taking off the batteries, setting it up with bluetooth again, going back a week with time machine and to reinstall the firmware. So, if you have something new for me to try, I will really apreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Franco.

I have 24" iMac with the Apple wireless M&KB - I know this is basic but have you tried a fresh set of batteries? My KB will refuse to establish connection when batteries are on the weak side the firmware update may just be a co incidents. If your wireless mouse is working OK then I would guess the blue tooth is functioning.
Not sure about the 10.49 download - are your other file downloads completing properly? Are there any error messages?

  • Mouse not tracking accurately

My mouse is not tracking accurately. At first i thought it was the wireless mouse i purchased as an "upgrade" but that was so horrible i went to the store to buy a wire mouse. It is better, but still not very accurate. I can only determine there is something wrong with my mouse driver. I did the apple chat thing and the guy had me remove two files (which by the way never returned even though the said they would)
I still have the problem. I have now spent $90 on two Apple mice and i cant stand to use my brand new computer.
Ive tried to adjust it through the mouse preferences it and it still isnt accurate. Ive tried it on different surfaces and it still is not accurate. ON my wood desk, it wont track hardly at all it jumps around a lot. On my mouse pad, it tracks but just isnt accurate.
The issue here is that using my computer is very frustrating. When i move my mouse to land on a small check box for example, i must repeatedly move it over until it lands there. I cant manuever fast. It takes me multiple tries to land on a small item, such as the blue scroll bar on the side of web pages.
    HELP!!!!

    Matt,
I had the exact same problem after I purchased a new wood desk. Apparently an optical mouse has problems tracking on certain wood grain and reflective surfaces. I purchased a new Logitech MX1000 Lazer Mouse and it works perfectly ! Perfect, accurate tracking and movement.
This may be your issue. Unfortunately the mouse is $79.00 at local stores. I found it on Amazon for about $56.

  • HP wireless mouse not working (sometimes)

I have an HP wireless mouse, product number LB454AA,  model no. MORFFIUO, s/n CNP25106C3.
well, i bought it about almost 2 years ago, but, even since I bought it, he had problems, and continues to have them...
the problem is, that sometimes, the mouse just doesn't work. I slide the power button and the red light just flashes, and its not like flashing 5 - 5 seconds, just flashes once.
I dont know what is heppening, not even with new batteries work...
and besids, if I click connect + the power button, the red light works, but the mouse doesn't do anything...
another thing is, that majority of the times, I put a new batterie, I wait like 30 minutes or 1 hour and the mouse returns to work again.
yesterday I put a new batterie on it, today i put another because the mouse was not working anymore.
does anyone know why is this heppening?
i cant even speak to support, the website dont recognize my mouse through product number.
i did not bought my mouse in this website, but is for you to see wich mouse is:

    Hello TwistedJ,
It would appear by your description that the mouse is faulty. If this behaviour started since the mouse was new 2 years ago, you should have returned it to the store you purchased it for a replacement or contacted HP Support directly for warranty help.
HP warranties its wireless mice for up to one year.
There is really nothing you can do at this point.
    I'm sorry.

  • Wireless mouse not functioning

My HPPavilion wireless mouse is not working.  Changed batter. Bought new one.  Same problems exists Sensor light on mouse does not light even w/ new mouse.  Must be another problem.  Touch pad is fine.  Use Windows 7. Product no. is LW350UA#ABA

    Hey Maryc61,
Can you please tell me if the mouse works on another computer?
You may also want to try disabling the touchpad and see if the mouse starts responding. You can do this by double tapping in the upper left corner of the touchpad.
Here are some documents you will want to go through:
Troubleshoot a wireless mouse that does not function correctly.

  • Wireless mouse not connecting

I lost my wireless mouse connection. I replaced batteries, to no effect. Any suggestions?

After toggling all my settings in Bluetooth I finally did the most obvious thing of all -- checked that the mouse batteries were not reversed, which they were. Almost too embarrassing to admit. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Magic Mouse not functioning properly

After update to 10.8.2  mouse works for a while with many problems. if turn it off and after turn it on works for a short time but have again problem with
many lag to scrolling and right click not work properly.
    Any idea how to fix?

I have an late 2010 MBP 13", core 2 duo and upgraded to 8Gb ram, 256Gb SSD. I've noticed the same behavior since I upgraded to Moutain Lion 10.8.2. The cursor seems to Lag sometimes (sometimes it looks like it's freezed - just like when the batteries are dying), and sometimes it went back fast. I talked to Apple Support here in Brazil and they are suggesting to downgrade the OS to a lower version than 10.8.2 and wait for a fix to upgrade. I've read in other forums that sometimes it's related to a older version of Dropbox installed (upgrading might get fixed - didn't worked for me though). Hope to get a fix soon!!

  • Z97 Gaming 7 MB, Wireless mouse not charging when plugged in.

Hi all. I recently upgraded my MB from an Asus Max hero VI to a Z97 Gaming 7.
I've been using a logitech G700 wireless mouse. Now before the MB upgrade, I could plug the mouse into it's cable, switch off my PC and the next day it'll be fully charged, ready to unplug and use for an extended period. Now after the MB upgrade to the gaming 7, I plug the mouse into the cable at the end of the day but this time the next morning I can't unplug and use the mouse without the cable because it has no battery power. So I'm wondering if there is a feature or option on the MB that I can switch so the mouse charges overnight when I plug it in and the PC is off?
    Please help,
    Damian

    Hi,
As far as I know, there's a USB connector (i'm not sure it's JUSB1 or 2...) on your MB, normally it's red, and can support charging when the PC is off. So, first make sure your front USB panel is on JUSB connector, then you can charge your mouse using these ports. Or other USB ports (like back panel ones) can only charge when the PC is on.
    Hope this could help.

  • Wireless mouse not working.

    Hi!!!
    I have a new Satellite L455D-S5976, using 32-Bit Windows 7 Home Premium.
I also have an old wireless mouse:  Micro Innovations, Model number: PD7250LSR, with which I am having problems with.
Micro Innovations claims that there are no drivers for this particular mouse.
It will work when plugged in through an external USB Hub, but will only work 1/10 times when plugged in directly to any usb port.
When it is working Windows recognizes it as an "HID Compliant Mouse" using the drivers in System32:  "mouclass.sys" and "mouhid.sys"
The mouse works without ANY problems on my old XP system.
It also works on my friends 64-bit Windows 7 System, as well as my KUbuntu 9.10 (karmic) system.
When the mouse 'malfunctions' Windows reports: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" and lists it as an "Unidentified USB Device".
If anyone has any information that can help me I would greatly appreciate it.  ;D
    Thanks a bunch!

A powered hub? That is, a hub that plugs into AC power?
Otherwise why would you have plugged in a hub?

  • Mouse Not Tracking Smoothly

This is an older G4 400, modified with a CPU and RAM upgrade, but my Pro Mouse has always had a problem with skipping around, and not moving smoothly and predicably. It can be a pain at times.
I'm working on a hardwood table top, with a smooth surface. I can't see why the surface would cause these problems, though.
This is an optical mouse, not an old mechanical ball-type mouse.
So why is this mouse so unpredictable? Anyone else have these problems?
What does the three position switch do on the bottom, by the way? Does that have an influence on mouse performance?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Tom -
I can't see why the surface would cause these problems, though.
It can, though, and often does.
A shiny or glossy surface gives poor results, as does one that is light and/or patterned.
The best surface for an optical mouse is a dark blue or black matte-textured surface - strangely, an old-style fabric-covered mouse pad works very well.
Some years ago I tried hard-plastic mouse pads from EverGlide - they're black, matte finish, and washable; and they work very well.
There is another possibility. The original Apple Pro mouses in particular have a problem where the wires inside the cbale can fray at the point the cable leaves the mouse body. This results in random open and/or short circuits, giving bizarre cursor behavior. The test - try using a different, known-good mouse. If this is the case for you, replacing the mouse is the effective solution.
Another possibility, one which I deal with all the time - I have cats, and their fine hairs can get lodged in the lens opening on the underside of the mouse; this makes the cursor skip, stand still, or move on its own. Cleaning them out is the solution.
