Wireless Mouse - Use With Powerbook Directly Instead Of Mouse's USB Adapter

I just purchased a new Microsoft Notebook Laser Mouse 6000, and I like it very much, however, I am not able to figure a way to use it without the USB piece that it came with. Can anyone help me? Is there a way to do this (the mouse isn't bluetooth). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
(I was able to find, in Help, a section on RF, but I dont think thats what I was looking for, and even if it were, I wasn't able to do what Help said could be done).

Thanks for your help (I'd say your name here if I knew it!)
Thats just what I was hoping to get; an answer that acknowledged my computers wireless capabilities and still explained that the mouse wouldn't work without the included USB attatchment.
Why do you think there aren't more bluetooth mice (or accessories in general)? I asked the kid at the BestBuy where I got the mouse if there were any other bluetooth mice or if they were getting more soon that he knew about and why there were so few. He answered that, "yeah, bluetooth was very popular very quickly, but soon after that, no one wanted bluetooth stuff any more." This doesn't make sence to me. I loved my Apple blluetooth mouse before I broke it, and, if it werent almost $70, or if it had greater capabilities for that $70 I would absolutely have purchased another one. I mean, why would somone chose to have an extra piece in order for a wireless device to work? I don't get it - is the RF technology that this Microsoft uses more sensative than bluetooth? Longer battery life? What?
Anyhow, I digress. I'm definately keeping the mouse. Its the Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000, for Notebooks (its smaller than the full size version). Its the only Microsoft product, other than Office, that I will allow in my house. Because it really is extremely smooth, both scrolling with the wheel (which is four way, by the way) and moving it around the mouse-pad, and because I really, really like the zoom button on the side of the mouse, with which you can zoom into any part of the screen by holding that button and scrolling the wheel to the magnification you desire. It really is extremely nice, too nice to give up even though I do have to plug that obnoxious USB thing in, as though my PowerBook wasn't bluetooth et cetera. I also programmed the scroll wheel to open links in new tabs when used to click. Its a very capable little mouse.

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..

  • Best wireless router for use with Powerbook 15"

Not everyone uses the Apple Airport, and some who do have mixed feelings about the various models.
What is the best wireless router, from any manufacturer, for use with an AlBook? What has the least problems, most reliable, strongest signal, fewest drops, best range, etc in your experience.

    Joeski,
I'll have to get back to you on what card my wifes laptop is using. I think it's a 802.11a/g, but I will confirm. My Powerbook 1.67 has the built in wireless card and to be honest, I have never looked to see what it uses.
We have our D-Link router set up for WPA2.
Neither her or I have had any issues when we have had to connect anywhere to any other wireless network and when I come home, I can connect back to my router automatically since my network is set up on my Powerbook as my 1st network of choice in connecting.
As far as replacing the antenna, I really dont know. It's has 3 antennas on it and I get a great signal, so I never thought about replacing it.
Hope this information is helpful to you!

  • Xperia Z1, Problem with OTG and Sony PS3 Headset Pulse USB Adapter

Hi, I did a bit of testing, with headphones Sony PS3 Wireless Headset Pulse , I state that both the adapter and the Sony Pulse Headphones work perfectly on PC and PS3 via the USB adapter , then connect the adapter via USB OTG connection on the Sony Xperia Z1 . With much regret I noticed that the connection between the USB adapter and headphones was established , but the audio was transmitted jerky and scratchy . So I decided to try again via USB OTG headphones Logitech F540 (again, via USB OTG, not via audio jack) , and with much enthusiasm I noticed a connection quick and efficient , without cawing and smoothly ; clear sound as if they were of the headphones connected directly to the Audio Jack with wire . I then decided to try another pair of headphones USB (for PC) , the Creative HS -1200 , connecting via the USB OTG adapter receiver headphones ( ie the same thing I did with Sony and the Logitech ) ; also in this case the Creative Wireless Headphones have received the sound from the USB receiver , without any problem or distortions . Now I want to understand how it might work all this variety of USB devices not Made by Sony , connected via the OTG port , but do not work Devices Made By Sony ? You can solve this problem with the Firmware right?
The firmware installed in my Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.1.534 .
The OTG cable is fully functional with a multitude of devices (USB HD 2.5 Inch, USB pendrive, USB Audio, USB Mouse and keyboard).
For your info, I already tried to connect the OTG, to a powered USB 2.0 HUB, and on the HUB USB, connect the adapter from Sony and the result is one and the same. The USB adapter will light as the Sony Z1 directly connected to the OTG, but the sound from the speakers gets crackling and jerky. I tried to connect the USB adapter of Sony headphones, and then connect the cable from USB jack to the audio jack of Z1, and of course the audio works perfectly, because it bypasses the USB audio sent by Z1, going to use the 'Jack audio input, and using the USB Headset adapter (Sony Pulse) as a simple transmitter.
Thank you to anyone reply to this.
Edit: i have try with samsung S3 and Samsung S4 with OTG and the Sony HeadSet Pulse work fine with the USB Dongle. The problem is on the firmware audio of the Xperia Z1.

    Two possibility
    The driver is not right
Or the second i know and it's not possible to fix  , they can happen on any audio device with any pc or other host
You can try your headset over a usb hub with a extern power source and connect the usb hud on your phone ,  if this not continu it's a power problem with the usb port
Sometime a usb port cannot provide suffisent power and that affect the audio or any data transfer , a usb hub provide on each port the power they need so when you cronnect your headset that give the good power to him
Few friends know this issue with a variety of device
One use one device on each port on his pc and there happen the pc cannot provide suffisent power for his headset , I suggest to use the minimal on his usb port and he don't have the problem , I suggest to buy a usb port power by an external source and that fixed the problem
If his your problem no update can fix that for fixing you need a Y cable to give more power to the usb port of your celphone and using a external power source (portable charging , solar panel custom 5v usb port with AA batterie)

  • Third party wireless routers incompatible with PowerBook airport

Hello there. I'm not having success with my problem so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows anything about incompatible wireless routers. In Mac help under Airport there is a curious statement that some hardware may be incompatible with Airport. As I travel through Chile, I have encountered several public Wi Fi hotspots to which I am unable to connect. I have all the TCP/IP settings entered correctly (IP address, router address, DNS, sub-net mask, everything) yet still unable to connect, including the Wi Fi at my hotel. They have provided me with all the necessary information, entered in the TCP/IP tab in the Network prefs pane, yet still unable to connect. DHCP this is not. I have never encountered this anywhere. I suspect the wireless hardware they use will not communicate with an Apple product. Could this be true? Has anyone run into this?
    Thank you,
    Michael

Thanks for your help. I tried all the encryption methods using the password given to me by the hotel and the coffee shops. Wi Fi appeared to be a complete mystery to them, although they seemed to have enough of a clue to suspect the encryption to be WEP. (Wi Fi has only recently arrived to Punta Arenas). I tried all the WEP and LEAP and any WPA, although some of the WPA methods wouldn't accept the password (the "OK" button was grayed out). It's got me stumped.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • Can I swap out my software to reinstall my CS2 for use with a Mac instead of Windows?

After years of no problems, my CS2 ceased to work. I tried deinstalling it and using the Adobe clean up kit and reinstalling it to no avail. Frankly, I am not smart enough to follow all of those troubleshooting steps. But since I purchased the license to use CS2 and used the Windows software to install it on my computer, I was wondering now that I have deinstalled it and can't get it back on, can I install it on my Mac instead? Can I get the software to do that? thanks.

Unfortunately CS2 is also too old to upgrade to CS6 andd your PPC Mac won't run the current Adobe software which only runs on newer Intel-based Macs.
Only CS5 users can upgrade to CS6.
There is also a temporary upgrade window for CS3 and CS4 users which closes on 31 Dec 2012.
So if you do eventually upgrade your Mac, you'll have to purchase a full version of CS6 (or whatever the current version may be).
What exactly is happening when you try to run CS2? Hard to guess from the description given so far.

  • Can wireless keyboard used with numbers

    thanks

Yes it will work.  Apple also makes a wireless keyboard that includes the numeric keypad that makes number entry much easier.

  • Using a serial port via kermit and a USB adapter

I have need to use a USB->Serial adapter for connecting to console ports (Firewalls, etc). I bought a nice Keyspan adapter for this.
First, I've not been able to find a version of kermit that will work on Snow Leopard. Anyone have an updated version?
Second, which device do we use for "set port /dev/ttyXXX" ? Is there some novel way that the system tells you which tty is mapped to which port?
I'm sure there must be more to it... there is a disc with these USB devices for OS X (though I'm not sure they'll work in Snow Leopard).
    Thanks!

Take a look at GoSerial http://www.furrysoft.de/?page=goserial it configures the port and acts as a terminal. There is also the screen command in the terminal, and minicom you can get though macports.

  • Mouse with PS/2 to USB adapter not working

I recently got a laptop and decided to switch from Ubuntu to Arch Linux, and apart from not having 3D acceleration for my graphics card, most things are working quite fine. Because I don't have 3D acceleration, one of the few games I can play is Unreal Tournament, but I don't want to play that with a touchpad, so I get a USB adapter for my PS/2 mouse, but it doesn't work for some reason.
It doesn't show up in lsusb, and the only clue I can get from dmesg is a single error saying it was "Unable to enumerate device".
Re-plugging it doesn't make any difference, nor does booting with it plugged in. Any clues as to why?
As a sidenote, I wasn't sure if I should make this thread here, but I consider a mouse hardware, and driver detection (as well as usb device detection?) has to do with the kernel. If I'm in the wrong place, please move this thread.

I am having a similar problem.I am using a Kinesis contour ps2 keyboard designed both for Mac and Windows system (132MPC). At $300 to replace it is not the sort of kit you just want to toss without good need. I have a kinesis and a belkin ps2-usb adapter. The Belkin worked for a very few minutes and then quit. The Kinesis never worked. I have downloaded and installed the Darwin PS2 kext file (ApplePS2Controller.kext) ...but that is for an x86 system so it can not help me...even if it would help me at all. Controller mate sees my keyboard (and the usb mouse I have converted through the adapter) but it does not recognize any input from the keyboard. I get hung at the 'type the key to hre fight of the left hand shift key' point. The keyboard is fine on windows machines...through ps2 port and via the ps2-usb adapters (both of them). I am quite happy mucking around in the bowels of my machine in su mode. Any suggestions??

  • HT204387 Can a wireless mouse be used with the new IPAD?

Can a wireless mouse be uses with the new iPad?

While it is true that mice or other pointing device like track pads are not supported on the iPad since there is no real pointer, I use a stylus pen. I know it would probably tip over the iPad if you are standing it up, but it's the closest I've seen. I use the Wacom Bamboo stylus and a Zagg keyboard and the case for the iPad and keyboard. I use the stylus a lot on the Paper app to take notes in meetings and such. Not really a solution but if you are trying to move an insertion point in a document, it does work.

Can a wireless/bluetooth mouse be used with iPad?

Neither can a USB connected mouse.
Other than a stylus, this is the only "mouse" that can be used with the iPad.

  • I'm trying to drag with the wireless mouse. But the item i'm dragging is copied instead of moved

I'm trying to drag with a wireless mouse. But the item i'm dragging gets copied in the new location instead of moved to the new location.

If you drag to another folder it moves.  If you drag to another disk, it copies.
This can be modified by certain control keys:
    Command key while dragging
Move dragged item to other volume/location (pointer icon changes while key is held--see this article)
    Option key while dragging
Copy dragged item (pointer icon changes while key is held--see this article)
    Option-Command key combination while dragging
Make alias of dragged item (pointer icon changes while key is held--see this article)

There actually is a type of "pointer" native to iOS. it's part of the AssistiveTouch feature,  used to replicate multitouch gestures with one finger. You just can't control it with a mouse.
Anyway, as far as I can discern the iPad does not use nanotechnology in any part of its construction.
