Wireless Music - trouble with accents in artist's na
Is anybody else having this problem? On the remote if a artist has special character in his name like a accent over the e, like you might see in a Spanish or Portuguese name, there is music listings under his name, but if you go to the album name which does not have any strange characters, the music will show up there? If I manually remove the special characters, I see the music listings under the altered name.
It's nice to dream.
They are releasing a patch elsewhere on these forums which does resolve some issues and even includes foreign language support. If the menus can have accents, why not the content? After all, if they can't get simple stuff like this right, how are they going to beat iPod?

Trouble with accent marks like João
Hi,
Any time I import a cd into my itunes and the artist's name has an accent like João, I have trouble.
Sometimes all the other albums I have by that person might disappear until I mess w/ the tags and file locations forever until I finally do something that works. Other times I might get 2 copies showing up...one that will say Joao and another that will say João...if I delete one of them, the other will disapper too.
Anybody had trouble with this? Anybody have a solution other than messing w/ the files for 45 minutes until everything shows up?

I changed the number from 2000 to 200, (i also did it set at 20) but all that did was cause even more type to display as black boxes

I also tried printing stright to PDF instead of postscripting and distilling

Since changing fonts in Freehand had an effect, could it be a corrupted font file?
No, no. Don't reduce the number in the prefs, and You DO want complete and download PPD fonts checked.
DId you try resaving with the same fonts in Freehand and making sure you chose to embed them? I was never a Freehand user, so I don't really know what options are available. -
Wireless music player with Time Capsule :advice sought

All my music files in my iTunes library are stored on my Time Capsule.
I would like to purchase a wireless music player (Squeezebox or similar, not Mac TV) that could directly access and play the music stored on my Time Capsule, without the need for Mac Book to be switched on. From the few wireless music players I have looked at, I get the impression (possibly false) that I would need the music player's client software installed on the Mac Book to serve the music to the player, which implies that the Mac Book needs to be switched on when the music player is in use (correct/false??)
Can any one please give me some advice here? Is my understanding correct? Is there a simple way to configure my wireless network to allow a music player to play files directly from the Time Capsule? Can you recommend a particular music player that would allow me to do this?I would expect exactly what you are getting.
Wireless is not going to transfer real world speeds higher than about link speed divided by 3, maybe even 4.
Find your link speed. Hold down the option key and click the wireless fan in the top menu area.
Take the transmit rate and divide by 3..
You should realise that wireless is limited by Apple to 130Mbps at 2.4ghz although in newer equipment you can achieve 217Mbps.
For 5ghz the speed will be 450Mbps in the same room but drops off quickly.. the above shot is with the TC in the next room.. max link speed dropped from 450 to 162 as drop off at 5ghz is very rapid. -
Trouble with appearance of "Artists"
In iTunes, as well as on my iPod Classic, I am missing certain artists under the "Artists" menu. The music is there, but I have to search for it under "albums", "composers" or elsewhere. This is quite annoying because I really can't tell everything I'm missing until I search through the entire library on my mac and my iPod. Also, the music is in iTunes with the correct artist, album and song names, but for some reason, it does not show up on the iPod or on the syncing menu in iTunes for the iPod under "Artists". I have deduced (although I'm still not sure about this) that this is not an iPod problem because I have all the music synced on two other iPods, and they both seem to have the same problem.
I'm not sure I'm understanding your posts correctly. Are you referring to albums or compilations that have more than one artist that are grouped together as one? I think my problem is slightly differemt. What I am experiencing is that in iTunes I have several albums that are correctly named that do not show up as an artist on my iPod. For example, I have a Blues Traveler album, "Four", correctly named in iTunes, but on my iPod, there is no Blues Traveler under "Artists", but I can find it under albums. I have noticed this about several other artists as well, and it is really not a huge deal, but the real problem is that I don't really know what I'm missing elsewhere. What's also very strange is that I've noticed that when I add more music, the problem seems to occur again. Maybe I'm just noticing at that point, but it seems quite strange to me.

Why does Bridge have trouble with accents in filenames?
We work in an in-house studio with Creative Suite 4. Being in Montreal, Canada, many of our documents have accented characters in the file and folder names. When Bridge attempt to display these accented filenames, occasionally the capital letters get converted to lowercase letters and a trip to the Finder window (we are on OS X 10.5 and 10.6) shows folders doubling, tripling and then going back to normal with no human intervention, as if 'springing' on its own. The files are on a mounted server. The folders and files are created through Adobe Bridge CS4 or through the dialog box in InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and/or Photoshop CS4.

Creating folders in Finder and Bridge with accents in the file and folder
name (although I've always learned this is a bad thing to do but I
understand the need for your use) is no problem on a stand alone
configuration.
I believe it has more to do with the use of working with a server. For best
answers you could open a case with Adobe Tech Support using the contact
button and explicit name the use of a server in the description.
Hopefully you get a better answer from them then from 'not our problem'

I have used the slide show many times and have always had success with adding music from iTunes easily.
I have recently upgraded with the software update and included in that update was an iTunes update. I also updated the iPhoto recently, since creating the last slide show.
Today I have been trying to create a new slide show and add some music that I added to iTunes specifically for the slide show. All I get is a spinning disk and no response in iPhoto. The computer is not 'frozen' and I can access and use other applications while the disk spins in iPhoto, but iPhoto is stalled. I have had to force quit several times.
Any ideas? The iPhoto is 4.0.3 and the iTunes is 5.0.1. I am running on an eMac from last year.
Thanks.It may mean that there's another preference file in your User Preferences folder that is incompatible with iPhoto. I ran across this troubleshooting method a while back.
Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Prefs folder (in its entirety) to the desktop. Start iPhoto. Determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up. Except for those items that are obviously not related, move the contents to the old Prefs folder on the desktop, replacing what had been there. When in doubt, move the item. The worst thing that can happen is a harmless "alert" message. Then, trash what remains of the new folder. Finally, move the old (but modified) Prefs folder back to the library.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the old one back to its original location.
Otherwise you might want to reinstall the 10.3.9 COMBO updater followed by a permissions repair and reinstall iPhoto 4 from scratch and update it. If you do reinstall V4 you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. -
Music troubles with my iPod Touch and earphones!
Just recently I willl choose a song to listen to on my iPod Touch but tyhe sound wont play, even though it says that it is playing. So, I have to unplg and plug my earphones back in. Then it works again, until next time. Whats wrong with my iPod Touch???

- I would also try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Yo may have a hardware problem since with use the headphone jack can go bad. -

Hi I am having trouble with iTunes! Randomly when I click on a song in iTunes it changes the song title to time after time and the artist is pink.
I could click on 4 songs and they will be normal but then the 5th one will change the info to time after time.

Wireless Music doesn't work with new software
Hello-
I can't get my wireless music to work after I update the software to the latest version. The only one that will work is when I install it from the CD. But, I would like to use the most recent version of the software. As soon as I update, the Media Server won't launch on my computer. I am using a linksys WRT54G wireless router. If I check DHCP clients, the wireless music receiver is successfully getting an IP address. I have tried all of the things that linksys suggested (disable WEP, firewall, broadcast SSID, etc...) to no avail. Has anyone gotten the latest media server software to work with WRT54G? I have tried it on both my XP and W2K machine, with the same results (doesn't work).

I am havign trouble with an update. Now my Itunes will not open. I see the instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall Itunes. will I loose my music as a result fo uninstalling Itunes?
You music is safe. You should backup the library anyway.

I am having trouble with the music from my bluetooth "skipping" on my IPhone 5. I thought that this was an antiquated problem with the new technology. It's very frustrating to purchase all of this music and expect great sound and playability and get "skipping". Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
Does the issue occur when listening to the media using the speaker or wired headphones? If it does, the issue is with the media itself.
If it does not, it's likely a bad connection or interference. -

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
