Wireless network adaptor not working

My wireless network stopped working, and the wireless network adaptor is not showing in the device manger.  The keyboard indicator indicated wifi disabled (f12).  Pushing then button does nothing. It was working fine earlier in the day.  The only change made was an adjustment to text size which required a restart to take affect.  The wireless adaptor did not work on the restart. Not sure what to try next to get it working again. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks,

With two routers you'd have to put one of them into bridge mode. If the linksys is the second router then change its IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1
You'll still have WPA issues with this configuration because the linksys really is not setup to handle bridge mode very well.

  • Wrt610n wireless network does not work after firmeware upgrade

    Hi
I just updated my Wrt610n hardware version 1 to the newest firmware, it did finish with sucess, I did factory reset reboot and reconfig. But the wireless network does not work , cant connect computers to it. Did downgrade the firmware to the same it was and restore my settings but still wireless does not work. But router works fine with lan.  Any suggestions? maybe the firmware tosted the router?
    Regards
    Stefan

    Update -
After last reset and reupgrade with the newest firmware for hardware version 1 I could config the router and connect 2 computers with wireless - but only for about 15 mín - then they lost connection and could not reconnect.
I did then get the newest update for hardeware version 2 - just to try and upgraded with that and got success, and now I have reset the router again and config it and those 2 computers are connected and have been for 1 hour now. So seems to be working - is it okay to have the firmware for hardware version 2 on my version 1 router?
Any thought what is going on - could it be that the other firmware had not loaded compleytle or?

  • Wireless Networking does not work within Windows Vista

I need to use Windows IE6 for work but when I open my Windows application, I cannot get my wireless networking to function. Diagnostics says I don't have a Network Adapter install. Back in the MAC O/S, the wireless networking functions fine.
    ???

Resolved. Windows server 2008 r2 works cool secured. with Mavericks in MBP 2014. All are working well.
    Steps:
Identify your mac book and related Boot camp version from Apple support and download.
Integrate the drivers as mentioned in the below link.
for install.wim follow the steps in the below link.
for install.esd (this is the case with Windows server 2008 r2), convert install.esd to install.wim, integrate the drivers and convert back to install.esd and replace the original install.esd.
Install Windows (7 or 8 or server 2008)
After installation install additional drivers from Boot camp  - driver folder.
For Windows, all should function (all are functioning for me).
For server versions (all drivers are installed), you have to enable sound from device manager, enable wireless connection by adding additional features from Server manager, it works.
For windows server 2012, integration is not required, it installs as is for MBP 2014, only wireless have to be enabled through server manager (remaining all worked fine)
While installing the drivers, install Boot camp, to enhance additional features like track pad etc., (as in Mac OS)
    (Note:
'install.wim' or 'install.esd' integration is needed to avoid hangout during installation - to enable track pad and keyboard
intel folder) to $WinPEDriver$ folder to install chipset drivers, during OS installation. Chipset driver is not getting installed, when you install along with other drivers, gives out error.
Enjoy Windows (any version) with Mac Book Pro.

  • [Solved] Wireless Networking Randomly Not Working

Note: My network card is an Atheros AR9285 PCI-E Adapter. ath9k driver and wicd
Apologies in advance, I'm relatively new to Linux as a whole. With the recent pacman 4 update, my entire system has been somewhat out of whack. I've been unable to figure out how to get it to properly sign keys and update packages, but that's another story entirely. At least my wireless connection still functioned when that was the problem.
I booted my laptop up today and it was suddenly unable to connect to my wireless network. I checked the network to make sure that it was running properly (it is), so came back to the laptop. It said that it was unable to acquire an IP address.
Various googling via my windows box led me to various suggested fixes including restarting wicd and wiping the .conf files, starting from scratch. All that accomplished was making the network hidden, and I'm afraid I've no idea as to how I probed it to show the SSID in the first place.
Again, I'm very sorry, but this is extremely vexing for me, and I'm quite overcome by frustration at the moment. Everything was working fantastically until this pacman update, and now my laptop is good for very little.

  • Upgraded to 10.4.10 and auto connect to last wireless network does not work

    Hi !
just upgraded to 10.4.10 and now every time I boot I have to select my home wireless network to connect. This while I have the option automatic join selected, which worked until version 10.4.9.
    Anyone else experiencing this ?
    thanks for your time !

    Well, well,
I downloaded the new Safari beta version and went (don't ask why, maybe insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result) to System Preferences->Network again. There I deleted my wireless network (as I did the last time), but now I got immediately a message about KeyChain (which I didn't got before, so I did get a different result !!). And guess what, now the auto connect does work again !
So, the upgrade to 10.4.10 messed with something that the beta upgrade did correct.

  • C6180 Wireless Network Fax not Working

I have a Photosmart C6180 I can not send a fax from my notebook over the wireless network. I can print over the network. I can do a fax test over the network. I can send a fax manually. When I try to print to a fax I get a popup "Processinf fax request" but nothing ever happens.

    Welcome to the Apple Forum.
Did you enaled the option that says "create a closed network"? Uncheck it if so.

  • IPhone 4S "could not scan for wireless networks" WIFI NOT WORKING?

Ok, so I understand there is a million threads on this same issue... YOU'D think it would be fixed by now?
What I don't understand is why the wifi isn't working?
I just got the iPhone 4S yesterday, I already have an iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 is consistently using my home wifi while I am at home PERFECTLY. My iPhone 4 is updated to the latest software too iOS 5.1.
My iPhone 4S will not connect to wifi. I am entering the right WPA user & pass. It is updated with iOS 5.1.
My iPad, iMac, Macbookpro, & iPod ALL have NO TROUBLE connecting to my home wifi.
I do not understand how this is a wireless router issue when it works with all of my other Apple devices BUT the iPhone4S?
I have tried everything under the sun, restart reboot, turn off, turn on, switch network off, switch it on, reset this, reset that?
PLEASE HELP ME! I have never been this disappointed in Apple (as you can tell I own everything by Apple, so I am quite the fan..)
    What the ****?

    Could this be the problem?
    iPhone 4 Modem Firmware : 3.0.04
    iPhone 4S Modem Firmware : 2.0.10
Wifi is working on my iPhone 4, NOT on 4S -
Why is my new 4S I got yesterday using a 2.0.10 firmware, isn't that old?! Isn't the newest 4.0+?
I am so tired of trying to figure this out.
The Wi-Fi addresses in the About settings are different on both phones too.

  • Windows wireless network would not work straight away upon encountering a new network.

A Windows 8.1 network always works in a home environment.  When taken to a public library, the network itself works but wouldn't connect to the Internet.  After a lot of fiddling, changing user, restarting the computer and so on, all of a sudden
it starts to work.  Windows diagnostic does not detect any problem.  When it comes back home, it works straight away without any drama.
When the problem happens with a public network, the Windows diagnostic and ipconfig reports no ip address has been assigned to the computer.  So I think perhaps the network runs out of IP address to be assigned.  Then I use a mobile phone which
connects to the library network and hence the Internet to set up tethering and portable hotspot and test the computer again.  Again the computer has no problem with the network but wouldn't connect to the Internet.
I think to myself, if it is a hardware problem then it would not even work at home.  If it is an intermittent hardware problem, then such problem should be experienced at home as well.  But no, nothing happens at home so far.  Could anything
peculiar to Windows 8 that causes such phenomenon?

You can try the Orangeware driver, but according to this website it looks like it isn't going to work.
You are going to need to sell/return the card and get a different one that works.

  • Wireless Network Does Not Work After Coming Out of Sleep

I have a WEP connection that does not broadcast. My Airport connects to it fine. When the MacBook comes out of sleep mode, sometimes it cannot connect and does not show the network in the list of available networks (because it doesn't broadcast, but the network is setup so it should show). If I turn off Airport and then immediately turn it back on, it connects right away.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a fix?

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I need to delete and recreate the connection because just bouncing the Airport on the MacBook brings the connection back online... so I don't think there is anything wrong with the connection per se. It doesn't happen every time I come backup from sleep, just often enough that it's something I'd like to see them fix in an update if it's a problem that other people are having too.
As for switching from WEP, I have a many wireless clients in my house including laptops, desktops, printers, console systems, and iPhones/Smart-Phones. They all support WEP, but they don't all support WPA. I'd rather try to keep from buying new network cards or new printers.

  • USB Wireless Network Adaptor for fringe reception

My holiday unit is just on the fringe of a Wireless G service. I can get connected outside - but not inside. The ISP advised that a wireless bridge will not work - but an external network adaptor with 1.5 - 2 metres of cable should do the trick. They suggested the Linksys WUSB54G. (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/ANZ/en/products/WUSB54G) Unfortunately this is a Windows only device.
Can anyone recommend an alternative that will work with OS X?

Google "Wireless-G USB Network Adapter for Macintosh".

  • I have my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A connected to my Mac Book Pro on a Wireless network. It works and

I have my Hp Officejet Pro 8500 A connected to my MAc Book Pro which is running Lion OS on a wireless network.  It works just fine and prints and everything.  The problem is a "HP Utility" window that pops up on my screen and says it is "connecting to device" and lists my printer.  It just runs and runs and the entire thing is gray - meaning I can't close it, cancel it, or anything. When you try to click on it, the arrow becomes the color wheel of death.   It is driving me crazy.  I have gone through settings, I have downloaded the latest drivers, I have looked in utilities, I have opened the printer folder and can't find where this thing is coming from or how to turn it off.  Please help.  And yes I have turned offf the computer and rebooted.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If you want more features, you can download and install the Full Featured software from the "Support & Drivers" button at the top of this page, otherwise, basic printing and scanning will work without it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • I have a Linksys WRV200 wireless router and the wireless signal is not working properly so I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. the wireless light has a fast green blinking light. how can I fix the router?

I have a Linksys WRV200 wireless router and the wireless signal is not working properly so I am unable to connect to the internet wirelessly.  The wireless light is blinking green very quickly and I connect and disconnect from the network constantly.  How do I get the router to work properly

    Hello James,
The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks

Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • IMac connects to Airport wireless network but not internet

Hi, I'm trying to set up my sister's iMac (education version) and haven't been able to get it to connect to the internet via the Airport Base Station. If it makes a difference, the ABS is an older model from about 4-5 years ago, I think. (Not extreme.)
The ABS is able to successfully dial-up and connect to her ISP.
The iMac displays the connect time, and the Internet Connect application shows for the AirPort Status that the iMac is connected to the network and that it is "Connected to the Internet via the Modem..." (followed the by the connection time.) However, the iMac still won't connect to the internet.
The wireless network seems to work okay. I'm able to access the iMac via my PowerBook and share files.
My PowerBook is able to connect to the internet wirelessly via the same active ISP dial-up connection via the ABS.
I tried duplicating the same network information from the PowerBook, but that still didn't work. As far as I can tell, the settings in the PowerBook are the same as in the iMac.
I'm tapped out of ideas right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    12" iBook G3 DualUSB   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Born June 2001

    Finally got it to work.
In Airport Admin Utility --> Configure -->Access Control there were two Airport ID's listed there. I didn't add them, and I don't know where they came from, so I deleted them to see what would happen. After the base station restarted I connected to the ISP, and the iMac has been able to connect to the web ever since.

  • What would cause an IMAC to recognize one printer on a wireless network and not recognize another printer?

What would cause an IMAC to recognize one printer on a wireless network and not another printer?  I have a smaller HP and a an HP 4600.  The computer recognizes the smaller printer but not the bigger printer even though the printer in Settings and shows up on Settings, but I cannot print to it.

Do you have a printer driver installed for it? When you open the Print dialog have you selected it from the Printer dropdown menu at the top of the dialog?
Do you know that the printer is working and is properly installed (Added?)
