Wireless Network Driver Trouble

Hello,
The harddrive in my HP Touchsmart tm2-2150us failed recently, and I just replaced it and did a clean installation of windows 7 - 64bit. I went to here and installed drivers, and everything seemed to work except the network driver. I can connect to the internet through ethernet, but the wireless does not work. Under "show network adapters," no wifi ethernet adapter is shown, just the ethernet. I tried installing each of the wireless drivers listed (I'm not sure why there are so many), and rebooted between each, but none of them worked.
I'm out of ideas of things to try, does anyone have any ideas?

Connecting to old wireless network drive

I've just bought a macbook pro. With my old pc laptop, I connected to the internet via a belkin wireless g mimo router/modem. Connected to this router via a ethernet cable was a lacie 250gb drive which I could access via a wireless network connection. Now my macbook sees the modem.router and I can connect to the internet, but I cannot see the external drive. All my network setu assistant seems to do is give me options on what wireless modem to use for a internet connection. The lacie drive is pc nfts formatted. Any easy step by step advice?!

Wireless Network Drive setup to consolidate and synchronize iLife libraries

What is the simplest system to set-up and use a Hard Drive to be shared wirelessly between my iMac G4, Power Book and two Dell laptops running Windows XP?
Can i set-up my iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie libraries so that they are on the shared and each of the Macs can access the same libraries and each of the Macs and Dells can access the same iTunes libraries on the shared drive?
Final question. If it is possible to have the iTunes, iPhoto, IMovie libraries on the shared drive, is it possible to have replicas synchornized locally on the laptops?
What I'm trying to achieve is to have one consolidated library for iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie so that regardless of which computer my family uses to download photos from the camera or music from the iTunes music store the photos and music will be available in the libraries when any of the other computers are used and if the laptops are used away from home a replica of the complete libraries will be on the local drive.
Right now we have photos, music and movies spread over 4 machines. Consolidation and synchronization is what I am trying to achieve.

If you find a tool for all of your machines to do this in the background wirelessly, let me know. I'm doing this manually from my Macbook, two Vista machines, and three XP machines. I just copy and paste all of the stuff I want to replicate, and keep everything backed up on the Airport USB drive, which is a 400GB drive. I had a lot of trouble until I changed the drive format to journaled HFS+. Now it all seems to work great. Perhaps rsync could do something like this for you--I believe it runs natively on the Mac, and via Cygwin on PCs.

W510 ( 4391 ), T410s ( 2904), not picking the Wireless Network Driver , windows 7 64 bit

The two Models W510 ( 4391 ), T410s ( 2904) somehow skip to update the Wireless driver
i tried the following :
1 . updated the update retrever tool to new version 5 , it does download the Wireless driver to its repository, however the "system update" tool on the computers does not show/install this driver
2. i reimaged the computer too, still no go
3. created new repository folder when updated the update retrever to new version

I'm very excited to finally have a solution for this problem. Thank You Balaji for figuring this out. I've been struggling with this for a number of years, and had only one USB Hard Drive that worked. I too have VMware workstation, and had the missing files
in "c:\windows\inf." I can say with certainty that I did not delete the files from that folder, but something is common in both of our situations. Maybe it has to do with VMware, and some of it's updates over the years. I'm also using nCompute to share out
a networked desktop via the wire.
One more thing worthy of mention is this machine was an update from Windows Vista, and the USB hard drive that worked was configured back than. So although I could never add another HD, at least I had the one.
Now with having copied over the files, I can plugin other USB enclosures with different drives and they too are working.
Like you mentioned, it was always possible to use USB devices within my Virtual Machines, so it was clear that the USB ports were functional. I actually got the files from a clean Windows 7 VM, copying out the \windows\inf folder and doing a compare between
the the real one and the virtual one. I found the two missing files you mentioned, along with 8 others. I went ahead and included them all in your fix.

Time Machine restore from Network Drive

Hi,
I have a Time Machine backup of my Mountain Lion system on a GoGlex Home wireless network drive. Location is as follows:
/Volumes/GoFlex Home Backup/TimeMachineBackup/AlexHarris.sparsebundle
My problem is, when I try and restore this sparsebundle by either using the recovery menu or migration assistant, the only thing that shows up is Go Flex Home and neither of these can find the sparsebundle.
The root of my GoFlex Home HD contains four folders (one of which is the GoFlex Home Backup). These are created automatically by the preinstalled OS on the HD. I can't move the sparsebundle to the root as this area is read only.
Any ideas? I want to restore my entire system and not just go in and drag and drop documents etc.

Whole system slows drastically when network drive is mounted

Firstly, I hope I'm asking this in the right place. (I've also asked under the MacBook section, but got no replies - sorry for duplicating the question).
I'm using a MacBook with Snow Leopard, a Time Capsule and a 1.5TB USB drive attached to the Time Capsule as a wireless network drive. Whenever the network drive is mounted, my whole computer runs intolerably slowly. Even if no program is actually using files from the network drive and the drive itself is silent and unused, my computer still crawls along agonizingly slowly. Yet if I plug the drive directly into the MacBook there's no problem whatsoever.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how I can cure the problem?
In case it counts:
MacBook: running OS 10.6.5, 2.2GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
Network: 802.11n, WPA2 Personal.
Hard Disk: LaCie, 1.5TB USB 2.0

Network drive library location failure and Syncing problems

I transferred my iTunes library to a wireless network drive. If iTunes opens without an established wireless network connection, it returns to the default library location. I can easily change it back to the network drive, but want to avoid restoring the default location. How can I do this?
A related problem is with syncing my iPod with the new network drive iTunes library location. In short, it won't sync with the new location and asks me to Restore the iPod continuously. The only way to get the iPod to sync is when the library goes back to the default iTunes location (which I don't want because I don't have music there anymore).

That's how it works. There is no way to stop itunes from doing it. If you ever find you've opened itunes without that drive available, immediately close itunes. Use a shift-start to re-open it using the networked ITL file.
Have you tried assigning a different drive letter to the ipod? Maybe it's competing with the networked drive letter. Just go into windows device manager to change the ipod's drive letter.

Wireless Network Drivers needed (x201) - Post Reformat!

Hi All!
I just reformatted my Lenovo X201. For some reason, I cannot find the correct driver to install the wireless network driver to have WiFi. I tried all of the Intel ones posted in the downloads section.
Anyone have a clue as to what I need to install to have WiFi on my newly reformatted x201?

Why can't my MacBook find my external hard drive through wireless network

I have a 1 TB Western Digital My Book Essential external hard drive connected to my AirPort Extreme. I've been using it with my MacBook via my wireless network (mainly for music and movies) now for about 2 years without any trouble. Recently my MacBook has been unable to find the HD, it gives me the following message "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "My Book 1TB HD" can't be found". If I reboot my entire system (fios router, AirPort Extreme, MacBook, and external HD) I can access it for a short period of time but then the same problem arises. What can I do to resolve this issue and/or figure out where the actual problem is?

The USB port on the AirPort Extreme has always been borderline as far as being able to provide sufficient power for a hard drive. It is not a high power port like you would find on a computer.
If you have not been using a powered USB hub with the AirPort Extreme....it is possible that the power supply on the Extreme has aged a bit, and it no longer puts out quite as much power as before.
Try a powered USB hub, but check the store's return policy before you buy in case this is not the solution.
Atter the powered USB hub, I have no suggestions other than the obvious..... check/replace the USB cable from the hard drive to the USB port on the AirPort.
Also check using an Ethernet connection from your Mac to the AirPort Extreme...to eliminate the possibility of a wireless interference issue being the culprit.

3510 all in one having trouble connecting to new wireless network

Ok - just to update, at least the drivers are downloadable now ... I'll see if that resolves my issue.

Hi guys. I just switched to a new modem through my ISP (Rogers) that has a built in router and a much faster connection. (Previously, this 3510 printer was working just fine over my network with a modem and a router that was separate.) My computer is hooked into the internet via a direct cable and everyone else in the household connects via wireless, which has been set up and works well. For some reason though, my 3510 refuses to play nice with the modem and connect to the network. I've tried plugging it in via usb cable, then going into the settings and clicking on the "convert a usb connected printer to wireless" option. I hit "yes, access the computer or router", then next, it finds my wireless network with no trouble and I type in the required password and "next" - it then takes a while to go through it's "setting up printer on network" .... and then after a while, I get a "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router" error. There IS no MAC filtering. I have "allow all" set on the router. This shouldn't be an issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just a thing with the newer modem/router combos and these older HP printers? I tried to update the driver, but your website doesn't seem to be letting folks do that at the moment (some error you're fixing, it says?). If you have any suggestions on how I could get past this problem, I'd really appreciate it. It's driving me NUTS. Thanks! All the best, -- Jodi

Trouble with internet connection when using extreme to join wireless network

I have an airport extreme that I want to use as an ethernet hub. I have successfully connected it to my wireless modem, and I have a solid green light; however, when I connected the ethernet to my tv/computer/anything there is no internet connection. I tried powering down everything in order and rebooting as appropriate modem then router then computer, but still not internet connection. Any suggestions.

The AirPort Extreme does not provide any routing functions when it is configured to "join a wireless network", so the Ethernet ports are not active in this type of setup. The only thing that really functions is the USB port, which could be used for a remote printer or hard drive.
If you have another Apple "n" wireless router acting as your main base station, you can configure the AirPort Extreme to "extend a wireless network". The Ethernet ports are enabled in this type of setup....and the Extreme will provide more wireless coverage in the area where it is located.

Home wireless network trouble

I got a new wireless router, Netgear WPN824 from Newegg, a refurbished product. I set up a home wireless network using the online manual on the Netgear website. The router works well for the wired setup. But I could not connect to wireless.
My wireless network shows up on the list of available wireless networks. I can connect to other wireless networks such as that of my neighbour's. I tried connecting to my network using both unsecured and secure WEP / WPA modes. Except once, I could never connect. That one time, as soon as I could connect and verify that I was indeed connected I thought the problem was resolved and so shutdown my system to see if i could connect again - alas, same trouble again. I use NetworkManager to connect, and here's the output for two networks - jaydoc which is my home network, and linksys, that of my neighbour's to which i can always connect.

Is the wireless router i got a dud, being refurbished i took my chances and maybe i wasn't so lucky..! Or is it something wrong in my network settings..? I tried shutting down everything and then turning the modem, then the router and finally the PC without the ethernet cable connected. Still I am unable to connect.
Any help is deeply appreciated. I am a total newbie in networking...!

that is what my router status is at the moment. and I am able to connect to the wired network using the router. However I still cannot connect wireless. I did not see any settings in the wireless settings page of the router that ask for DHCP server names/addresses. This is the current logfile output

So if its still a DHCP problem, it seems to be affecting only the wireless part. How can I make wireless use the same DHCP servers as the wired..? Or is there something else wrong here..?

I have 2 macs and 2 PC laptops in my home wireless network. Can I use the Airport/Time Capsule hard drive to back up all 4 machines? I know that I will have to use different back up software on the PCs, but is it possible over the wireless network?

I have 2 macs and 2 PC (Windows 7) laptops in my home wireless network. (The iMac is hardwired via ethernet to the Airport/Time Capsule; the others are wireless connections using Airport). I want to use the hard disk drive in the Time Capsule as a network backup drive for all 4 computers. Is this possible? Could someone help me by telling me how to configure it? I know I will have to use different backup software in the 2 Windows 7 Laptops? Do I need to use the Windows backup software, or can I use a third party program like Acronis True Image? It is your fault, pondini.. all your fault.
I read of all the things that go wrong restoring Time Machine backups.. particularly stupid things like mail, photo libraries don't go back.. etc. And looking through the incredible number of issues people have here, when their Mac finally takes a dive how hard it is to restore.
I restored a test hard disk from a TC.. and it takes ages and ages to even make up its mind to start.
I worked in computer support for ages, but not Macs.. so my experience is ghost.. ghost images.. on large commercial server setups, can stream restore to multiple computers at once.. even doing it computer by computer the image is simple as network boot to restore. But ghost went the way of Symantec.. sigh!! And was destroyed.

Can backup a Hard disk in just about any format.. yet to try it on a Mac to a TC.. but I will. Boot from CD.. instead of your lost Lion partition which no longer exists (because the hard drive had to be replaced) and the DVD they no longer give you, and restore the entire hard disk in a couple of hours .. to the exact image at the point you made the clone.. in any format, with any partitions.
My bet is that it will kill TM .. but you could be right.
It is just the prospect of all those permission changes, photos and mail libraries etc that worry me.

Lion - can no longer connect to WD wireless network / hard drive.

I upgraded to Lion and now I am unable to connect to my WD wireless network hard drive. it tells me that the version of the server I am trying to connect to is not supported and to contact your system administrator to resolve the problem. Suggestions?
