Wireless not working on my MacBook pro, but works on iPhone and other MBP?!

So I just got my new 15" MBP a few weeks ago. I have wireless Internet in my apartment. Just today I came home to use my computer, and I kept getting errors..... First "cannot connect to the internet". Then I had to enter my network password... Connnection timeout. Then incorrect password (which is crap because I enter it correctly) what's the deal?! Is this a faulty airport device?! The wireless works on my iPhone and my room mate's MacBook, but not mine.....?!

Well, assuming your MacBook Pro is up-to-date with OS X and Firmware and you can connect to other Wi-Fi (you can easily check that if you haven't already) then it may be a connection issue with the wireless router in your apartment. There are a variety of things this could be from Password Key being entered incorrectly, Media Access Control (MAC) being present on the router, your needing to register the laptop with your ISP, to your router firmware needing an update. I would just break down the possibilities into a list and then start testing them systematically one-by-one. If all fails and you think a hardware problem with the laptop then call Apple and arrange to have it checked over.

I am suddenly not getting email on my MacBook Pro, but am receiving e-mail on my iPhone. I'm getting message "Warning Recent errors logged" It repeatedly states "The Header From: address <postoffice> is not authorised - please go to control add PHP" But I only have 1 email address. I'm afraid to add anything on since I don't even know what this other e-mail address is. What should I do? And would this definitely be the cause of my not receiving e-mail?

I pressed check again and here is what appeared:

  • My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software.  I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.

My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software.  I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.

This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc.) are still trying to connect to the same network from your own Airport router, as the MacBook Pros are? If you tap Settings on them, is the network name next to where it says Wi-Fi, the right one?
I've got a weird feeling that either in the past couple of days, a neighbour got an Airport device and hasn't set it up yet (causing your iOS devices to try to help), or that perhaps there's an issue with your Airport router and they're noticing it and trying to help out, while for whatever reason, Airport Utility isn't opening itself on the MacBook Pros like it normally should if there's a problem.
If you open Airport Utility on one of the MacBook Pros, does it report any problems with your Airport device, and can you view/edit the settings on it?

  • My Apple keyboard works w my MacBook Pro, but not w my iPad2--what's happening?

My Apple keyboard works w my MacBook Pro, but not w my iPad2; any suggestions?

    1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth on the device.
    2. Hold Power button of your keyboard until the light stops blinking.
    3. On the Mac, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard.
    4. Turn on the keyboard. If it doesn't connect to the Mac, press any key of the wireless keyboard.
    5. When the keyboard appears on your Mac, choose Continue

  • I connect my pendrive to macbook pro but it cannot detect and my important data is there in my pen drive so how can i collect this data from my pendrive?

i connect my externalpendrive to macbook pro but it cannot detect and my important data is there in my pen drive so how can i collect this data from my pendrive?

make sure that in your finder preferences you have it checked to show external drives on the desktop and in the sidebar of finder
you find these preferences by selecting the finder icon (blue square on the dock w/ smiley face on it) then click on the work "finder" at top left corner of computer screen then click on preferences then general and put check next to show these items on the desktop and put check next to external drives
now you should see it on the desktop if you still can't open the drive or access it, it may be in format the mac can't read or write to so that could be an issue.

Sorry, but your issue has nothing to do with Apple networking. You may get better results getting a solution if you repost to the iCloud area of the Apple Support Communities.

I have purchased several HD movies from iTunes and none of them work on my MacBook Pro (purchased in 2010).  I keep getting a message that says my media player doesn't support the videos.  How is this possible if I legally purchased these through iTunes and they work on all of my other devices?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

correct me if i am wrong, but you do not get that option to convert movie to ipod/iphone, just to acc that i recall.

  • Macbook Pro Freezes with Screen Distortion and other problems...

So I've had my 13' Macbook Pro for about 9 months and I am encountering problems with it. My Macbook would sometimes freeze at random and the screen would distort as well, also, the screen would react whenever I would move the laptop around by either reverting back to a normal screen (still frozen) or more distortion which leads me to believe that it might have something to do with the hardware. But all this is temporarily solved when I force shut off my laptop (hold the power button for 3 seconds) and restart it. It can start up again with no problem, but this happens again, more early than usual and becomes more consatnt. However this is lessened whenever I don't use my laptop for an extended amount of time, but it does happens again whenever I do use it for some time.
Another problem I've been encountering is that, at times after I force shut off the laptop, my computer would not turn back on. Instead, the laptop beeps 3 times, pause, then beep 3 times again. I have looked into this and discovered that this means that I have "No Good Banks"..........I have no idea what this means but I guess it means that I might have faulty RAM.
What I ask is that if anyone has had similar problems and if they know what to do or what exactly what the problem is so that I might be able to do something about it.
    Info about Macbook:
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 4GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

Bump. Anyone have any ideas on this?
I "shut it off" last night, but when I turned it on again tomorrow, it turned out it didn't quite shut down?
It booted to the grey log-in screen, basically.
I've also come to the realisation that my charger isn't registered (the LED isn't orange/green like it usually is), and I can't get a "battery status" (I'm sure it has another name, I just don't know what it is) when I click on the little button on the left hand side of the laptop. Usually, it would show green dots/LEDS to tell me how far along it's charged, but now I get nothing.
I get the distinct feeling something's up with my battery, and maybe my RAM (because of the repeated triple beep after shutting down last night).

  • AOL mail will not work on MacBook Pro, but works on iMac

My wife has attempted to check her aol mail account online, through Safari, and every message that she opens appears as "garbage." I recently installed Snow Leopard on both of our computers. AOL mail works on my iMac, but not her Macbook Pro. Honestly, among other issues, I'm a little disappointed with Snow Leopard. Leopard was released without problems for either of us.

Did you ever find out what the problem is???

  • VPN works on my MacBook Pro but not on my iPhone5s

I have an ASUS RT-N65U Router that allows me to create a VPN Server. I've followed the instructions, created one, and I can connect to the VPN on my MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.9.4). The problem is, when I add a VPN configuration on my iPhone (running iOS 7.1.2) and it connects but when I try to access the internet, it just... won't do anything. Whether I'm using LTE or my Wi-Fi, when I open up Safari and try to google.com or yahoo.com or any other websites, the blue progress bar up top stops at like 20% and it just stays there for a few minutes until it doesn't load anything.
I've entered all the information correctly on my iPhone. I've double / triple checked it all and it should be working because it works on my MacBook... so why won't it work on my iPhone?
The VPN settings on my ASUS router as as follows:
    Server Mode: PPTP
    Network Place (Samba) Support: Yes
    Broadcast Support: Both
    Authentication: Auto
MPPE Encryption: All (includes MPPE-128, MPPE-40, No Encryption)
Connect to DNS Server automatically: Yes
Connect to WINS Server automatically: Yes
    MRU: 1450
    MTU: 1450
    Client IP address: (private info)
Everything above that is bolded were automatic settings that I didn't touch.
TL;DR: Used VPN feature on ASUS router and it works on my MacBook but not on my iPhone. Help!

  • FaceTime no longer works on my MacBook Pro but still works on my I-Phone

FaceTime used to work fine on both my MacBook Pro and my I-Phone. Lately, it will not work at all on my Ma
cBook, but works fine on my I-Phone. What has to be done to get it working on my MacBook?

The Rh column in FaceTime asks if I want calls to the cell phone or to the e-mail address. I remove the check mark against the cell Number and "go to next"
It then asks for Apple ID and sign in.
The FaceTime on the computer starts by saying that it is signing in and then and then quickly reverts to the first screen as above---asking about the cell or e-mail address---and the process starts all over again.
I never get to proceed past this step.
I am begining to wonder if an upgrade was added and requires some other step.
, or removal of the upgrade.
         Thanks for the help.

  • My 4th Gen iPod touch is not recognised by my MacBook Pro but is by iTunes, so I cannot sync.

I have a new MacBook Pro Mavericks so i uploaded my iTunes library from my time machine back up, cleaned it up and added a few new albums. I now wish to update my iPod with these changes but when I plug it in iTunes recognises the iPod but the Desktop doesn't!
When I go to sync the iPod on iTunes it goes through 3 stages: 1. Waiting to sync, 2. Preparing to Sync, 3. Awaiting changes to be applied, then it stops and nothing happens.
Also, when I look into the details on my iPod under Wifi Sync, it says "Sync will resume when (name's computer) is available. This is quoting my previous Macbook which died on me hence the purchase of a new one.
How can I change the settings on my iPod to my new laptop name, and how can I make my new laptop recognise my iPod for the sync to work?
Many thanks if anyone can help.

  • Connection drops/slows down on new Macbook Pro but works perfectly on older

    Hello,
I have 3 Macbook Pro's and one AirPort Extreme (bought dec 2008), *all has been working flawlessly* for a year until about two-three weeks ago.
    *This is what happens:*
_Old Macbook Pro (2007)_ - *Works perfectly 100% of the time*, always at least 20mbit/s connection
    _New Macbook Pro 15" (2009)_ - *Drops/slows down*, sometimes fast 20mbit/s sometimes slow 0.01mbit/s
    _New Macbook Pro 13" (2009)_ - *Drops/slows down*, sometimes fast 20mbit/s sometimes slow 0.01mbit/s
_iPhones (2G/3G/3GS)_ - *All Work perfectly 100% of the time*
*I have reset the Airport Extreme 20 times* and tried the latest firmware 7.4.2 without luck. I have *even downgraded* to several other types of firmware. But problems still remain. This is doing my head in since I cannot any longer use the Airport Extreme with the newer MBP's.
So, only the new macs seem to have this problem. But the strange thing is that my older computer works 100% all the time!!!
_*Has my Airport Extreme broken or is anyone else having this problem?*_

I seem to have found a temporary solution. If I change the DHCP address series from 10.0.1.X to 192.168.0.X it works for about a week. Then it starts to drop/slow down again. So I use airport utility to again change it back to 10.0.1.X and it works for another week.. And on it goes.. This is so strange I can hardly believe it.
