Wireless option for Nano during skiing

I just bought a new Nano and I want to listen to it when I ski with my helmut. I need a wireless or even a wired option that will allow me to pause/adjust volume, etc without having to go into my ski jacket. I am not sure which devices are compatible.

I just bought a new Nano and I want to listen to it when I ski
Very, very bad idea and not allowed in many ski areas because of the danger.

  • Airport Extreme - best wireless option for connecting a Windows XP PC?

First post on this board - forgive the long-windedness.
Relatively new to MAC, not to UNIX / IT in general and, sadly, Windows.
As well as the MAC mini, my wife has a black MACBook, running Tiger and Parallels. We have acquired an Airport Extreme to replace the old 802.11b WAP. This works well with the MACBook, but I have had a few problems finding a suitable wireless client / adapter for the younger son's Windows XP PC, an HP Pavilion with USB2.0 ports. I started with a Linksys WUSB54G, with the latest drivers downloaded from Linksys. This worked well for a couple of weeks, using Windows Zero Config, after which it dropped out and refused to reconnect to any network, even the unsecure old 802.11b WAP.
The replacement began well, but then required reinstall of the drivers after every reboot of the PC, which allowed it to work. Eventually, this remedy failed; although other networks remained visible, the Airport one did not.
I will be taking the second one back! But I need an alternative.
Is there an issue with Linksys / Airport connections in general?
A colleague has suggested that an internal PCI card might be a better option than an USB based adapter, but he has no MAC experience.
Can anyone recommend a suitable card or an alternative USB solution?

Yes generally they are better choice, another option would be an ethernet wireless bridge such as the WET54G which would require NO installation of software or drivers on the PC - it can be configured via a web browser.

  • Can I purchase a wireless headset for Nano

I am interested in purchasing the newest version of  the iPod Nano, but does it work with a wireless headset?   If so, any recommendations on the most compatible model?

i hear ya when it comes to working out and getting the wire in the way...its a pain.
there are bluetooth headsets for talking only...
you have to get an A2DP transmitter to connect to your iphone then get bluetooth headset that goes with that transmitter, but can be expensive.
thanks to another member of these forums, i looked at the INFINXX AP23 by Brando cost $62US...its the smallest transmitter i could find and according to the website i was on, the MOTOROLA S9-HD bluetooth headset works great with it, which costs $130US.
you wont be able to make or receive calls using this headset though.

  • Best wireless option for flying with an ipad?

I plan to buy an ipad for use in the cockpit of a cessna. I'll be using the foreflight app that shows instrument approach plates, weather, etc.   The pilots I know recommend the built-in 3g option but they are not very familar with 4g options.  The computer experts that I work with recommend using a 4G wi-fi hotspot, but they don't use their ipads in small airplanes.
I'm not familiar with the technical differences between 3g and 4g regarding the speed of transition between antennas and if 4g coverage is available in the air (I usually fly less than 10,000 feet).
Do any pilots have experience using an ipad 2 with a 4G hotspot in the air?
    --Max

I'd assume that the coverage would be nearly the same in terms of altitude, but if you are not 100% on the reliability of 4G, I'd stick with just getting a 3G iPad.
Here is a 4G Verizon LTE Coverage Map, there are others types of 4G that you can find by searching it, such as 4G Map Coverage WiMax, 4g Map Coverage HSPA+, etc.
    http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=4G+map+coverage&view=detail&id=8D11C7CB3F01C 5BAC76CF41CDD69ABB123CA1709&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR
Personally I'd go with 3G because of higher reliability.

  • I need a wireless option for older Mac desktop is there a good card or adapter  I want to transfer hd video files over the internet.  using a hotspot and wireless card in computer, any recommendations

Is there a good card I can put in the computer, and use with a hotspot?  Any experience with uploading HD video files this way.  DSL hard wired connection is too slow

As for the people on eBay, my only beef with them is that it has turned into a money hungry store instead of an auction place to pick things up inexpensively, like it used to be.
    Agreed.
There is one, in particular, who really puts a dear price on his flashed cards.
Not a friend to the Mac community.
Of course, others see his prices, and say "Well, if he can, then so can I".....
By the way, I have been noticing the same cards, only for PC for around $30-$40, which lead me to believe that those are the ones they are "flashing". Sorry if that's incorrect.
    It's OK.
I watch for the prime cards all the time.
Radeon 9800 Pro and XT PC cards have increased to the $50-$70 range.
Pros used to be $20-$30, XTs $30-$60.
Some guys here in Japan are trying to get $100 for Radeon 9800 Pro cards- vanilla PC versions.
The glut in Mac options has inflated the flashable PC card market dramatically.....
The Mac Edition Pro retailed for $200+.
$100 isn't bad for that card flashed to Mac... the XT gets $20-$50 more.
Try telling a PC guy that a Radeon 9800 is a $100 card..... the old boys laugh!
Adding to this is the recent influx of "new" Mac users, PC modders/users buying cheap, used G4's, and the demand for upgrades has increased as supply decreased.
If you see any rev 5.70 Geforce 7800 GS AGP cards, or any FireGl (Radeon) X800XT (unflashed) cards for less than $130, amazing is all that I have to say.
$30-$40, and I'll take 20 of each- cash!
Hmm, same goes for Geforce 6800 Ultra's......
I am just a little (or a lot) frustrated with Apple and Apple vendors lately. For obvious and not so obvious reasons. Please accept my apologies as I go through this phase.
We all have our days, and our reasons. At least, I know I do......
    Apology warmly accepted!
Count me as frustrated, as well.
The new machines sure look nice, but when I tally up the price of the software that I own, which can't be run on Intel or 10.6x Macs, my room full of G4's look a lot nicer.

  • Wireless options for 881W ISR

I'm putting together a design for a new office with the following requirements:
    10 VPN users.
    For Ethernet – 24 ports POE 10/100/1000
Probably go with VZ FIOS so Ethernet
About 2000 square feet so 2 WAP's should do it
I'm thinking a CISCO881W-GN-A-K9 ISR with a SRW224G4P-K9-NA switch should do the trick. This will give me an integrated AP but I need a second one. Do I need to order an autonomous one or does the 881W do some sort of WLC function?
    Thanks,
    -mike

for the wireless part, ISR has a normal autonomous AP that can be converted to LWAPP.
try to create WDS if you dont want to buy a WLC.

  • HT5622 I did not choose "use icloud" option for my initial setup.  so, it is creating for not enough space in my ipad.  How do I go back and set up icloud to store data?

I did not choose "use icloud" option for storing during my initial setup.  How can I reset icloud account, so it can be used for storing.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you are planning on using iCloud to store files, forget about iCloud and use a cloud storage service like SkyDrive or Dropbox. iCloud is focused on information sync between the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC instead of storing files like MobileMe. It's not worth using iCloud for this.
If you still want to set up iCloud, open Settings > iCloud, log in with your Apple ID and follow its steps

My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed? It is pretty frustrating, it fell from about 3 feet out of my pocket and now looks like it was beaten by a hammer.

That's where I would begin, too, with
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

  • Where do I find the "Sync Playlists" option for dual Nanos?

In a recent answer to a post about more than one Ipod for one computer someone said use the Sync Playlists feature to seperate each persons music. Where is this? How do I do this exactly?
I just put all the music from my library onto my wife's new Nano which I didn't want do. Now what?
    Thanks..........

    Hello, welcome to the Discussions.
Connect one of your iPods to your computer.
In iTunes, go to "Edit -> preferences -> iPod -> Music".
Select the "Automatically update selected playlists" option for your iPod.
Name and create a playlist for this iPod that you would like to sync music to.
Choose that playlist for that iPod in iTunes Preferences.
Now, eject this iPod, and connect the other one. Set it for "Automatically update selected playlists", like the instructions above.
Here's the original article that explains how to manage multiple iPods: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

Recently downloaded FLAC app. and want to stream 96/24 to my stereo system. Whats best wireless and hard wired option for a 30 foot run?

    Try these 3 possible solutions:
    1. Restart iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Close inactive Apps
Double-click the Home button; hold Apps down (in the Task Bar) for a second or two until you see the minus sign. Tap and close all inactive Apps.
    3. Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider.
