Wireless outdoor speakers through existing mac network

i have time capsule set up as my wireless network in my house. can i use time capsule to add wireless outdoor speakers to play music through my computers to the speakers. for example, can i listen to xm, sirius, terrestrial radio or cds played through my macs and broadcast to the speakers? do i need any other equipment? do i need airport express or another receiver?

I have three sets of speakers throughout my house all hooked up to Airport Express, with Time Capsule as the base station, and it works great, except that I don't have music outdoors in the yard. I was also hoping to find wireless outdoor speakers that I could install permanently (mount), but I can't figure out how this would work; is there a base unit (transmitter) with wireless speakers to hook them up to Airport Express INSIDE (I have an extra AX unit), because it obviously can't be left outside? Also the AX setup has to be a mini-plug; are there any such outdoor wireless speakers?
Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm already in over my head

  • No sound on Bose outdoor speakers through Apple TV

My Apple TV is connected with a HDMI cable to my Bose V25 Lifestyle set. I can play my music on my iMac or on the speakers of Bose V25 (iTunes control button). For outdoor use I have connected a Bose 251 outdoor expansion package for Lifestyle V25 (two 251 speakers, SA-3 amplifier and a RC-35S2 expansion remote). This outdoor system is connected to the V25 in the proper way. When I want to listen to my iMac music on my outdoor speakers I don't get any sound. Do I have to buy a separate optical audio to analaog cable to resolve this problem or should only the HDMI cable work?
Excuse me for my English, I am Dutch.

  • How to create extend network through existing wifi router-Belkin N150

    Dear sir,
I like to inform you that customer are using belkin N150 wifi router in his room( For wifi) but he want to extend his network with the help of airport express through existing network (wifi). Is it possible to extend network by the airport express? Please give the suggestion or step to configure the airport express through existing WIFI network.
I am waiting for your reply as earliest.
    Thanks,
    Dipankar Das

.Is it possible to extend network by the airport express?
Yes, if the AirPort Expess will connect to the Belkin router using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection.
No, if you want the AirPort Express to connect to the Belkin router using wireless.
If you want to extend using wireless, then use another Belkin product, which will be compatible with your Belkin router.

  • AirTunes through existing third-party wireless network

    Hello everyone,
I am thinking about purchasing an Airport Express mostly to use AirTunes.
The room where the AE would stay in is already well covered by two wireless devices (a D-Link wireless access point and a Netgear DSL router with a wireless access point built-in), so I'd rather not pull an ethernet cable to the AE.
The simple question is: does the AE have any option to connect to an existing wireless network? I don't need it to act as a repeater, it should just access the pre-existing wireless network as a "client" in order to be seen by iTunes.
    Is this possible at all?
    Thank you very much!

The simple question is: does the AE have any option to connect to an existing wireless network?
Yes, the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) can be reconfigured to "join an existing wireless network." In this configuration, is performs like any other wireless client to that existing wireless network so you can use it to share a USB printer or for iTunes streaming.
(ref: AirPort Utility > select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless tab > Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network)

  • Trouble introducing Toshiba to existing Airport Express (Mac) network

    Hi all,
I've been away from Wintel PCs for around six years. Last time I spoke to the outside world with one was Win95 with ISDN & Hyperterminal connection!
Have had a mixed wired & wireless always on connection for around a year. Two existing Macs connect via Ethernet, whilst my iBook connects via Airport Card to Airport Express Base Station with iTunes.
Recently acquired a Tosh TE200, which connects to my router via ethernet, so has been updated to latest SP2. Furthermore, I've been able to download my data via smb over my LAN. So far, so good.
I don't know where to begin, though, to get my PC to talk to my Macs, which would be nice.
The bigger issue, however, is the fact that the Tosh can see the Airport signal, but can't seem to connect to it. In the Taskbar at the right, the warning given is, Not connected: right click for more options. When I view available connections, there's a big, fat five green bar signal from my Airport Express Base Station. It describes itself as:
    Security-enabled wireless network
This network requires a network key. If you want to connect, click Connect.
When I click Connect, it goes through the motions (Please wait while Windows connects to the 'AirPort' network. Waiting for the network...) but doesn't connect.
I've scouted through iFelix's description and a few posts, and all settings appear to be alright.
Is this something I'm going to need to get a native XP version of AE Admin Assistant/Setup Utility & plug the Tosh into the AE Base Station with Ethernet?
I'm concerned about the danger of flashing my Base Station settings with the Tosh, cos the iBook gets considerable network, online & music use.
Can any of you guys plod me through this predicament? Please be gentle - HAL was thrust upon me for native business use.

iFelix, thanks for your response. I took a look at your link already, but some of it's a bit over my head. Didn't have this much to do to set up Macs. iBook also automatically recognises and connects to other wireless routers.

  • I just bought a mac mini...can i just connect an ethernet cable to the airport extreme and set up the mini through an existing mac

I just took the mini out of the box and hooked it up to the airport extreme through a direct ethernet cable between the two.  Can i find the mini and set it up through an existing mac that is also hard wired to the network?  Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response.. I don't have a monitor nor a wireless keyboard to use on the mac mini...apple salesguy at bb tells me that I can hook up the mini to the ethernet port of my airport extreme and find the mini using finder on my 27 inch mac.
that my regular mac would see everything on the mini and that i can proceed to set everything on the mini through my regular mac...
I am trying to purchase the server software from the app store and turn the mini into a server..
that is what i am attempting to do.

  • How to connect a printer (wireles) to an existing mac-AE network from a PC?

I have an airport extreme configured network that works perfectly well. That means that my mac connection to Internet is fine and I can print documents wireless without a problem from my mac.
Recently I got a PC computer (OS Windows 7). Since the beginning, it recognized the wireless network and, after input the network password, it connects as fine as the mac does to Internet.
The problem came up when I tried to configure the printer to print wireless from the new PC, as I do with the mac. Simply, I have not managed to do so. I only can print with the cable from the new PC.
I have not installed any software related to the airport extreme base (airport utility). I thought that it was unnecessary since I could connect to the existing network with the PC since the beginning. But I do not know if that is required.
If someone know how to proceed (the steps) to successfully configure the PC/Printer to print wireless in the existing Mac/AirportExtreme/Printer network, I would be very greatful.
    Thank you!
    Neil

Do you mean a USB adapter to send audio to the speakers?
You would need to use the audio control panel to send the computer audio to this output device.

  • Trying to add a Wireless router as a switch on an existing Wired network

    Hi,
I'm having a lot of trouble with my WRT54GS v.2.0
I'm trying to add wireless access to my existing network here at work. I think the main network is using Dlink 40+ node switches.
I've been reading around and I've tried to turn off DHCP on the router, but when my computer tries to find a connection, it times out. I'm not even trying to get the wireless to work, just LAN for now.
The router will get an ip address assigned by the main network, so it's connected, but I can't get the computer through to the main network.
Is there anything I need to be setting up on the computer? Can this even be done?
    Thanks,
    Alex

please make sure that you dont use the internet port on the router, use the local ports...(1,2,3,4)

I'd like to plug in a Time Capsule (1TB) into an existing wired network and use it as a central Time Machine backup device for multiple workstations. The wireless can remain on/off, I don't really need it. I just want it for the central storage.
Will Time Capsule work that way?

I have a similar but sort of in reverse. I have set up my Mac Air via ethernet and would like to get my PC to do a backup as well to Time Capsule. I have put the airport utility on my PC and it recognizes the TC. How do i tell it to backup since I don't have something like Time Machine on the PC?

I'm not sure what you mean. You can't find the express to set it up.. or you can't find the network created by the express?

Are you using HDMI or an Apple Airplay Module to go to the TV Speakers?
If you are using an HDMI it's straight through output. The internal speakers are disabled.
If you are using an Airplay Module:
    - Go on iTunes
    - Locate the Airplay icon that has a TV with an up arrow icon much like your iPhone has for Bluetooth
    - Click on that and Airplay to ModuleName

  • Creating Wireless Network via existing Ethernet Network

    Hello
I have a problem with setting up my network in my new place, where internet was already available via existing Ethernet network. I tired to solve the problem with the Designing Networks with Airport but I think my case is not described there. First of all let me describe how the Ethernet works. Network is setup by a Modem/router device that was supplied from the ISP, it is connected to the switch that divides the service over 4 different apartments, since it is a quite good connection there is no bandwidth problem, but the ISP device assigns only 5 IP addresses that can get internet service, everything above 5th IP is just an IP without Internet. From my basic knowledge I think that i need at least 4 IP to cover my needs. Time Capsule, Mac book, iTouch and my xbox. IF i set up my TC into a bridge mode it all works, but i am taking to much internet IP's and my neighbors are stuck with the IP's that don't allow them to connect to internet. What I need to know is a detailed instruction how to use one IP address from the 5 available, and using time capsule provide local IP to all of my devices at home so the rest of IPs generated by the ISP device will not be assigned to me.
I tired to set up the time capsule to option Share a public IP address, or static IP's option, but in both cases my devices fail to connect to internet, however they do have assigned IP's by the TC. I have a strange feeling there is a small detail I am missing that keeps me from a successful set up, but of course I might be wrong, because I am relatively new in Mac community and have only basic knowledge in network stuff.
I am sure that I was not the only one that has this problem so if there is another topic about this subject, which I have failed to find, I would appreciate a link. Thanks for help in advance, if any other info is required please don't hesitate to ask, hopefully I can solve my problem with Your help very soon.
    Regards

+my Xobox fails to connect to xbox live claiming that I have NAT set as moderate (the NAT map porting is enabled) and I dont know what to do about that. I have googled a bit and there are some suggestions that my TC puts additional layer of NAT on top of my ISP modem/router and that's why it is confused.+
As William has pointed out, in your particular setup, there may be no way around the double layer of NAT. The Time Capsule must be set to "Share a single IP address" if you want to connect multiple devices.
Might be worth confirming that you really do have the additional NAT layer on your network.
Open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > Network Utility
    Click on the Traceroute tab
Enter an address like "www.mac.com" (without the quotation marks) in the box
    Click Trace
Let the trace run for a minute or two and then click Stop
Look at Line 2 only in the log.
If you see a 192.168 or 10.x.x.x address in this line, you have the additional NAT layer on your network.
If that's the case, I'm afraid that the only way to eliminate the NAT service on the Time Capsule is to place it in "bridge" mode. But, I understand that you have limited IP addresses to work with there.
Any way to have more IP addresses authorized for that location? That would appear to be the only solution if you want the Xbox to connect to Xbox live.
