Wireless PCIe Adapter on Mac Pro Mid 2012
Hi MP Folks
I would like to know if anyone ever tried adding a wireless adapter into a PCI Express slot in Mac Pro Mid 2012?
I need to have two wireless connections for my Mac Pro. One is for Internet access, the other is for internal RDP access. A PCI Express based solution is expected because no USB socket will be occupied.
Is there any Mac Pro compatible wireless PCIe adapter? Any recommendations please?

Regarding the devices that require no additional software on OS X, do you know if there is an official link to list all compatible third-party devices of OS X? Something like Windows Compatibility Center?
As for additional security, yes, you are right. I have to choose wireless as wired connections are not feasible, all the client computers on the internal subnet are mobile devices.

The Ethernet adapters (like the WET1610) [sometimes referred to as "gaming adapters] are interesting because they require NO additional software in the Mac. They will not go out-of-date and require future software updates.
For additional security, I think you should also consider pulling a Physical Ethernet cable to your RDP system, rather than exposing sensitive data (even in encrypted form) to the airwaves. Wired Ethernet has the potential to be faster than any reasonably-priced WiFi solution.

Mountain Lion 1.8.2 update made my dual monitor stop working on Mac Pro mid 2012
Just done Apple's update for Mac OS X Mountain Lion to 1.8.2 and after rebooting my dual monitor stopped working.
If I go on preferences -> Displays it shows me only one of my two monitors, even if I invert the connections the 2nd monitor doesn't shows up and there seems no way to enable it again.
Any suggestion?
P.S. I already tried to set from "Best for display" to "Scaled", but after rebooting Mountain Lion 1.8.2 reset it to "Best for display"Ok,
did some extra test here, but first of all my configuration:
Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB.
2 LCD 24" Wide-screen (1st monitor Hyundai W240D and 2nd Monitor HP w2448hc), both LCD worked perfectly until reboot after installing OS X 1.8.2
After reboot only the 1st monitor wored fine, the 2nd not even listed, so tried to invert cable connections on the 2 miniports on the ATI video card, but nothing changed, still only the 1st monitor working.
Did a second test, disconnected the 1st monitor and connected ONLY the 2nd and now the second works fine.
Tried to connect 2nd monitor on a different miniport, and i still works fine.
Updated my MacBook Pro to 1.8.2 (it as an nVidia card) and connected my 2nd monitor to it and everything works fine, both the laptop LCD and my HP LCD are working fine.
So it looks like Apple screwed up the ATI driver on the latest 1.8.2, now only ONE miniport is active.
To all users with the same Mac Pro configuration: hold to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2 until Apple fix this driver issue.
More info are on the Console output, so will have to contact Apple on-line support to signal this bug. -

I searched drivers for the windows 8 32 bit but couldn't find any...

ChiponnThere's been an update for OSX ML which addresses the issue for installing Windows 8 on bootcamp.
It's NOT recommended that you Upgrade.. However, the way to get the drivers is:
You'll need an external USB drive formatted as FAT for this.
1) In OSX, start the Bootcamp Assistant
2) Press Next
3) UNTICK 'Remove WIndows 7 or Later Version'
4) TICK Download the Latest Windows Support Software from Apple
5) Insert USB drive
6) Press CONTINUE
The drivers should download, and copy a WIndowsSupport folder onto the USB drive.
I did notice that Windows 8 still requires beta drivers for some aspects such as VGA (the Radio HD Card), which you can get on the AMD website.
Futhermore, why are you using Windows 8 "32" bit when you blatently have a powerful 64bit?

You have to install Boot Camp drivers. On Mountain Lion, you have to download them.
First, press X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X. Then, open Boot Camp Assistant and select the option to download the drivers. You will have to burn them into a DVD or USB drive, so after downloading them, restart and install them into Windows -

I activated file vault for the first time after upgrading to Yosemite OS X . Normal boot is unsuccessful as system hangs and get stuck but works only on safe mode (with usual limitations)and on contacting apple support tried internet recovery to create partition on HD to reinstall Yosemite, but failed as partition lay out is inactive ,later it was informed that encryption process overworked 500GB (non SSD) hard drive and the hard drive needs to be replaced!!

I have a Mac Pro Mid 2010 and 2012 both running OS 10.8.5. Both using ATI Radeon HD 5770 1052 MB vid cards.
Using the standard Display that came with the Macs, everytime I'm working in Ilustrator CS5 or 6, the Document I am working on gets transparent, and I when I try to move a pallete or the Document itself, the pallet or doc leaves trails from where it was to where I moved it. The only way I can resolve it is to open the Display prefs, choose a lower res, then switch it back to the "Best for Display" option. This started happening on both machines after the 10.8.5 update. I have since gone through all the Pram and Board resets, even had Apple replace the Vid Card and nothing helps. Anybody have this issue. It only happens in Illustrator.Hi Marco@JustALittle,

No audio for Mac Pro (mid-2012) running Win8.1 on Boot Camp
I've seen discussions around the 'net centered around this difficulty for Macbook users, but users experiencing this with a full-size (desktop) Mac Pro are hard to find. My mid-2012 Mac Pro, (running Yosemite on the Mac side) recently got entangled in the world of Boot Camp when I recently installed Windows 8.1, and I have since been unable to produce audio output from the Line Out. (My headphone output works fine, though it feels like browser audio seems a bit subdued. That's a topic for another discussion, though.) Most of the forum solutions for Macbooks that I've seen involve updating audio drivers, but I can't find any links or recommendations relevant to a mid-2012 Mac Pro. Has anybody else suffered this problem, and managed to conquer? I really don't want to get caught up in ping-pong between Apple's support geeks and Microsoft's nerds.

MacBook Pro(Mid 2012) Can't connect to my Dynex TV with mini display port to VGA adapter
I have a MacBook Pro(Mid 2012, running OS X 10.9.4) and I recently just bought a mini display port to VGA adapter so I could hook it up to my dynex TV but when I connect everything my TV says no signal. Do I need to do something in settings?

I am running mountain lion os 10.8.5 on mac book pro mid 2012 build. If I upgrade to Mavericks will MS Office programs still work? There does not appear to be an updated version of MS Office for Mac past 2011 that I bought last year and am using now. Thoughts? Suggestions?

i just installed yosemite on my mcb pro mid 2012 with a clean install. so i only had the new os x yosemite running on my mac. everything went perfect. than i installed win8.1 with the bootcamp assistant and also everything went perfect.
But here's the Problem:
When i'm using Windows 8.1 and i go to the "Computer" window where i can find my hdd partition "Bootcamp (c;) there is only this Partition. the mac Partition is missing.
so i am not able to read the files on my mac Partition.
Before i installed yosemite and win8.1, i was running mavericks and win7 on my macbook pro and i haven't had this Problem. i was able to see and read my mac Partition also on Windows 8.1???
is there any solution for this Problem???

Is this a hardware issue ? should i return to applestore since the warranty still valid?It seems like your display is damaged. As your computer is in warranty, take your Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the display replaced for free, as it's in warranty

When you enable Internet Sharing in OS X, you are creating a separate sub-net.
There is no option to allow this to be a simple pass-through from Ethernet to AirPort (or the other way).
The problem is easily solved by getting an inexpensive wireless router. You can replace your current router OR disable the DHCP server on the wireless router and allow the wireless clients to get an IP address from the current router. -
