Wireless Printer address lost at PC RESTART

HDW Config: PC1 is XP SP3 hardwired (network cable) to BEFW11S4v4 (Most current firmware); PC2 is Wireless using WUS11 v2 ; Printer is HP 6988 Wireless.
SW Config and settings when failure still occurs: With or without Antivirus(AVG), Firewall (ZA, not msft), With or without WEP Key and with 64-bit WEP; XP at current SP3; 6988 set to use 806.11b all the time.

Problem simplified: PC1 (DHCP in .20-.26 range) that is hardwired to router can not find the printer after PC restart (PING to the printer 192.168.40 a static address) fails.
PC2 (static address 192.168.22) which is wireless has no problem pinging printer. If I switch PC1 to wireless mode, it also is successful every time even after PC restart.
So, problem is only on a PC hardwired to router trying to locate a wireless printer after a PC restart. If I cannot get to the printer, but cycle my router (unfortunately killing my other PC connections) the address becomes available (can now ping) and I can print to it.
Question: How is connection between printer and PC through the router established? How does my PC find out that there is a printer at 192.168.1.40 without me having to power-cycle the router? Sounds to me like one of the devices isn't abiding to protocols.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Router is fine. I connected PC2(laptop Windows/ME) via network cable and its XIRCOM Cardbus Ethernet 10/100 card and it has no problems seeing printer on 192.168.1.40.
Looks like its either XP or my NIC, Intel Pro/100 VE Network Connections. According to DELL site, I am at most current adapter driver(?) for it, but I did pull a newer "package" (don't know driver inside yet). Hesitated putting it on after it said I needed to delete old one first. I'll pull Dell driver (same as mine) for back and proceed with that way.
Can anybody think of anything in XP that could be corrupted

  • My Epson wireless printer has lost its connection with imac - how do I reconnect?

My Epson wireless printer is not responding to the print command displaying the message "looking for printer/the printer is not connected" but the printer is on and the wireless connection working - any thoughts please on how to resolve? Thanks

I've found that once in a while this seems to randomly occur. It's happened to me in the last couple of days with my Brother printer. The only way I could get it working was to go through the palaver of setting up the wifi connection to the printer again, using the control panel on the printer to rejoin the network and re-inputting the password.
The connecting can be made easier if it and your router support WPS pairing. Select WPS pairing on the printer and if offers up an 8 digit number that you input in the wifi configuration page of your router.

  • Mac Address Filtering Issue with DI-624 router and HP D110 Wireless Printer

Just got the D110 Wireless Printer and cannot connect to the wireless router.
    I have a D-Link DI-624 Air Plus Xtreme G 2.4GHz Wireless Router.
The error message that I'm recieving from the printer is that "Mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router. This  can prevent your HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup....etc."
The D-Link is setup using WPA-PSK security. If I turn off all security than the wireless printer is able to connect. With WPA-PSK or even WEP enabled I cannot connect the printer to the wireless router. There is no connection to hardwire the printer and the router.
I've logged on to the router's admin and have confirmed several times that Mac filtering is turned off by going to Advanced > Filters > Mac Filters > and choosing Disabled Mac Filters. Where else is this setting? Why is the printer not able to connect?
Further, I check the logs on the router and it shows "Wireless PC Connected" and "Authentication Success" with a note that has the Mac Hardware Address matching the printer's mac hardware address on the Wireless Network Test Report. It would appear that the router is letting the Print in but that the printer is not able to communicate for some reason. It even shows under status > wireless that the printer is connected.
When i spoke to HP, they said to contact the router company and that they could not help. When I called D-Link they said tech support is no longer available for the model. I'm stuck, can anybody help?

Windows XP, tried both the front of the printer as well as connecting via USB and using the software.
After a few hours on the phone with both D-Link and HP, the issue has been resolved.
Apparently eventhough Mac Filtering was disabled (set to Disabled MAC Filters), the Mac address had to be entered into the router to allow it while keeping the setting to Disabled Mac Filters. To me it appeared counter intuitive to enter the Mac address while it's set to Disabled Mac Filters so I did not try that before getting on the phone with HP. Further on this, the problem did not go away right after adding the mac address but rather after restarting the router as the mac address addition did not take effect without a reboot of the device.
HP was much more helpful than D-Link on this one though it would be nice for HP to add to their instructions and Wireless Network Test Report to add the Mac address just in case. I would have tried that step if it was stated that it's okay to add the mac address and keep mac filters disabled.

  • Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC.

My Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC. I can still print from my laptop so I know the printer is working fine.
When I check ink levels through 'Printer Proerties' the message I get is 'The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device', so I guess this is a clue. I would appreciate any help you can give.
    THank you.

Just as a preliminary step, we're going to go through a complete and clean uninstallation and reinstallation. First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer (be sure to select your correct OS):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4022343
Install that and let me know the result!

  • How do i find the email address assigned to my all-in-one wireless printer?

I am trying to set up my so called"all-in-one" (w/o fax?) to wirelessly print from my mobile or other computers connected to my network. I was referred to the eprintcenter.com site. I then read that I needed to set up an account. while doing so, I was asked to give an email address with the password? (you must be joking?) I went back to read that each device has an assigned email address that I could find by going through the device itself wireless menu.... Uhmmmmm?? I have not been able to find it... Nor, any of the other questions?

    Hi IDNTLKHPPRODS,
You can see the email address of your printer on the printer itself. If you tell us the model of your printer, I can point you in the right direction to find that.
For creating an account on eprintcenter.com, you use your email address--the one where YOU receive your email, not the printer's email address. Once you have that account and have added your printer to it, you can customize the email address so it is something easier to remember.
    I hope this helps!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • HP1102W wireless printer has no ip address.

Hi I am trying to connect a HP1102W printer to a Telstra Personal hot spot device (small black stand alone device that can control up to 5 devices)
    Is this at all possible?
The wireless printer does not have a solid blue light only flashing blue
Config page shows all o.o.o.o so unable to log into webserver.
Basically what I am trying to do is invoice through a remote login site back to myob accounting on my office computer,  preferably on my ipad and airprint to the printer (in the car-inverter running) if this is possible
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Brad

    Hi bradbill
I understand you want to know if you can configure the printer on a hot spot.
Routers are used for networking the printers.
Usually they will never connect and if possible it would be very intermittent.
You can setup the wireless direct on this printer so you can print from a mobile device directly to the printer.
For this model though there is no display. So you have to enable the wireless direct.
    Method 1
You would have to install the printer on a computer and through the install screen check a box that says something like embedded web server to turn the wireless direct on.
    Method 2
You can setup the printer on a adhoc connection to enable the wireless direct.
Right click on wireless icon on bottom right corner of the screen
left click open network & sharing, select connect to a network
click on HP, click connect. Wait a couple of minutes and you should get a
solid blue wireless light on the printer. Then print out the configuration page to get the printer's IP address.
Follow this document after doing Method 1 or Method 2.

    Hope this helps.

I have been printing from my ipadto my wireless printer for months. All of the sudden says no printer found.  Restart eyed printer still no luck.  Help

Have you tried to reboot your iPad? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try agian.
Also, try power cycling your router. Meaning, unplug it, count to 10, then plug it back in. Let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • Printer and computers connected to same network but diff IP address so no wireless printing

Comcast just installed high speed internet for me. All of my wireless devices, including my HP printer, are connected to the new network. However, I cannot print to the wireless printer,
When I tried to reinstall the wireless HP software it said that the IP addresses did not agree...the IP address on the printer is 10.0.1.99...my Acer laptop is 10.0.0.3 and I get the same for my MacAir.
How do I remedy this conflict?
P.S. when i type 10.0.0.3 into my browser (I have tried three different ones), nothing comes up.

Oh, well, all of the Comcast routers should be password protected, so I doubt either device can connect to those.  I would think that more likely there are unprotected (networks with no password) nearby.
What are the specific SSIDs (network names) on the two devices?

My Photosmart D100a wireless printer keeps changing IP Address when router reboots.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • I have an ipad 2, verizon jet Pak router, canon pixma mg3220 wireless printer. All were working until yesterday. Now I get  no air printer found message. Have shut down everything and restarted. No change

I have an ipad 2, verizon jet Pak router ang canon pixma mg3220 wireless printer. All were working until yesterday. Now, I am getting no air printer message. Have shut everything down and restarted. It did not work.

    See requirements for AirPrint (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356):
If your printer supports AirPrint but does not work then:
Your printer might need a firmware update
Your printer must be on the same WiFi network
Your router must support Bonjour (Zero-configuration networking).
    For troubleshooting:
Turn Off iPad, WiFi router (remove from power), and Printer (remove from power).
    Turn on WiFi router
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on printer
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on iPad
    Try to print.

  • C4795 Wireless Printer keeps dropping connection...what am I doing wrong??

Hey everyone. I have an HP C4795 Wireless printer and am using a Cisco Linksys E1000 wireless router (very new). I continuously loose the connection to the printer, even though the router, printer, and my computer are in a 10 foot radius of each other. I can connect the printer to my computer via USB and it prints perfectly, but the whole reason I got it was for the wireless functionality. I am running Windows 7 on one laptop, and Windows XP on the other, same problem with both. When I restart the printer/router, it will find it for a little while, and then loose connection (again, same on both laptops). I know this issue has been discussed, but is there anyway to "jump start" the printer to "reconnect" to the network without having to manually restart the printer/router (or hook up via USB)?? I am so lost. I have tried everything. I just want the printer to not go off the network and I'm lost...ANY HELP??? THANK YOU!

Nevermind, figured it out by reading this thread (if people are having the same issue). The only thing to add to these instructions is that you are going to have to add the printer again, after changing to manual IP address:
