Wireless printer can't connect to airport network

I recently installed the new airport extreme (n) to replace my old router. I set up the wireless network with WPA protection and my computers and airport express work fine. However, I have been unable to get my HP all-in-one wireless printer to connect. The printer connects fine if I set up the network without security.
HP is suggesting that I set up my printer with a "WEP equivalent key" to my WPA password.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a "WEP equivalent key" to WPA? HP won't say and is suggesting I call Apple.

Simple answer is - you cannot. There is no such thing as a "WEP equivalent key" to WPA, because WEP and WPA are completely different security protocols.
Does your printer's wireless interface support WPA? If may be that it only supports WEP, and what HP is actually recommending you do is use WEP (instead of WPA) security on your base station. WEP passwords are typically configured on a computer (or other wireless client device) as either a string of alphanumeric characters, or the hexadecimal equivalent to that alphanumeric string.

  • Printer can't connect to the network HP photosmart c309a

I keep having connection issues with my printer.  I recently moved it from one room to another and it will not connect to the network.  When I do the network test, it doesn't find it and it doesn't find an IP address either.  Getting very frustrated.....

Try to move the printer back into the previous room and re-connect.
If it connects with no problem, your issue would be the distance between the router and the printer.
It should be presented in the same room. Before you try doing this, unplug your router for about 20 seconds and plug it back in, and try to connect.
Let me know if this helps, thanks.

  • Can't connect to airport network (but macs can)

I have an airport extreme base station that usually provides connections to three computers, an iMac, macBook, and one pc. For a while however I haven't been able to connect the pc to the airport. The network does have security in the form of a WEP password. I don't know much about network security however, and the windows interface for wireless networking has different terms than that for mac. Even stranger, the PC doesn't even see the base station, nor does it see the network in the wireless network connectiosn window, but sometimes it does see the network (with a good signal) but it cannot connect. I have all of the software updated, so I don't think it would be that, but maybe there's something I'm missing? The PC lately has been connecting to other wireless networks around the neighborhood, so I don't think it's the network card either.

  • Can't connect to airport network

I have had massive Airport troubles since upgrading to 10.5.2. I recently upgraded to 10.5.3, hoping that would solve my problems, but it has not. It got so bad that I gave up and installed an ethernet network in my home office. But I would like to have the portability of Airport again so I'm hoping I can figure this out.
Right now I cannot even connect at all to my network. I have two computers - a Mac Pro and a MacBook. My network shows up with full strength on both, but if I attempt to connect, I am prompted with a password dialog box. The password is stored in both computers' keychain, so I click "okay" and I then get a "connection timeout" error. The password is correct, but neither computer can connect.
The router is a D-Link DIR-655. I have checked the settings and everything is as it should be. The password is WPA Personal and I have triple-checked it to make sure it's correct. I am getting great signal strength so that's not the problem. I simply cannot connect with my Macs.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Kindle can't connect to Airport wireless network

I've read many other discussions, but I haven't found a solution to my problem.  I just bought a 4th generation Wi-Fi only Kindle, but I can't connect it to my Airport wireless network.  I own a 1TB Dual-Band Time Capsule with firmware version 7.6.  It is configured to connect to my DSL model/router using Ethernet, and Connection Sharing is Off (Bridge mode).  I've tried many different wireless settings without any luck.  Currently, the radio mode is set to "Automatic" (802.11a/n - 802.11b/g/n), Radio Channel Selection is "automatic" (149[5 GHz]/10[2.4GHz]), and Wireless Security is turned off.  Originally I was using WPA2 Personal, but I wanted to eliminate security from the possible problems, so I turned it off, but I still can't connect.  In my log I see the following lines several times:
    Dec 21 18:33:21          Severity:5          Disassociated with station f0:a2:25:23:43:dd
    Dec 21 18:33:22          Severity:5          Associated with station f0:a2:25:23:43:dd
I can successfully connect to my network with a MBP, an iPhone, an iPad, and a Canon wireless printer.  I did have a similar problem with a wireless HP printer, but I thought the problem was with the printer, so I returned it.
I am able to connect the Kindle to a friend's Linksys wireless network.
    Any suggestions?

Bridge Mode is probably your problem - at first, I couldn't get my Kindle to connect to my Airport Extreme, which is configured in bridge mode because I have Verizon FIOS internet and have to use the FIOS router.
    However, I found a workaround:
    1. Unplug your Airport router, and enable the wireless on your DSL, cable, or FIOS router (it may be enabled already; I had turned mine off since I didn't see any point in having it broadcast a wireless network that wasn't being used).
    2. Now you should be able to connect from your Kindle - make sure it has the same name and password as the wireless network name you chose for your Airport router
    3. You can now turn your Airport router back on, and because your Kindle will remember the network, it should be able to connect successfully from now on, even if you go back and disable wireless on your DSL/cable/FIOS router.
Please also tell Amazon about this problem! All my other wifi-enabled devices have no trouble connecting to my network - the Kindle clearly has a bug that makes it handle routers running in bridge mode incorrectly.

  • Hp6700 Printer: can't connect to D-Link DI-514 Wireless Router when Broadcast SSID is set to NO.

HP6700 Printer:  can't connect to D-Link DI-514 Wireless Router when Router Broadcast SSID is set to NO. My MAC LapTop and HP LapTop both work with the SSID set to NO. If I change the Wireless Router to Broadcast SSID is YES, then the HP6700 Printer can connect to the Wireless Router. I setup the Printer telling it what the SSID and Password were, the same as both of my LapTops, but it never connects, unless I change the Router to broadcast the SSID. Help!

Did you try updating the firmware on the DI-514?
You can also try setting a static IP on the printer, then assign the printer to the static DHCP list in the router interface.
To give your printer a static IP address:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you will have delete and re-add the printer on your Mac.

  • HT1126 Can I connect the Airport Express directly to my wireless router?

The old owner of my house set the Air port for my use, gave me a password ... when I tried it, the password never worked.
DO not want to lose my old wireless system as it allows me to do more than just the Air Port.
    should I reset the system?

can i connect the airport express into an ethernet port in the wall
I assume you are asking about obtaining an Internet connection here.
First, temporarily turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop to the Ethernet wall jack with an Ethernet cable. Can you log on to the Internet this way?
If yes, then you can connect an AirPort Express to this Ethernet port and configure it to provide a wireless signal for multiple devices.
If no, then you can connect the Express, but you will not have an Internet connection.

  • Wireless printing (Epson Artisan 725) and multiple networks

Hello. After spending the better part of a day trying to get the wi-fi printing to work on my new Epson Artisan 725 all-in-one, I finally realized the problem is this:
My MacBook Pro (with Snow Leopard) is connected to my home office network via ethernet and my home/family network via the AirPort card. This has never posed a problem before, and I've been able to print to the USB printer on my wife's MacBook, for example, just fine.
I wasn't able to properly configure this wireless Epson (on the family network) until I unhooked the ethernet cable from my MBP, and it won't print unless I do that, either.
So I could switch the printer to my office network, but then my kids won't be able to print to it. Not the end of the world, but is there a way I can be connected to both networks and use this printer?
Esoteric problem, I know. Thanks for any advice.
    -Doug

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
Unfortunately, the printer can not be on 2 networks at the same time. You would need to use the printer control panel and connect to each network whenever you wanted to change. Using the ethernet cable would not allow any wireless access. The only thing we could recommend would be to connect to one network hardwire or wireless, and if the other network has only one computer, connect this USB. The printer will do network and USB simultaneously.
We would recommend contacting technical support via phone if there are any questions or they can provide a walk through of the installation. The direct number is 562-276-4382.

    Hello
     I have a Samsung 700T tablet.
Since I got the latest update 9926 I am having issues with my corporate network access. I have to type in my user name and password on the wireless connection. When I do I get "Can't connect to this network" message.
I have tried multiple drivers for the network card a "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235". I am currently using latest.
I am able to connect fine with my home Wifi.
On the "System" event log I get the following error message when I attempt to login no the WiFi.
"A fatal alert was received from the remote endpoint. The TLS protocol defined fatal alert code is 42"
     Any ideas?
I have checked and my card is set to use DHCP.

Have you tried talking to your system administrator? We had a fun bug in our Cisco wireless access points and wireless controller that would
kick Win 8+ machines from even trying to connect. A very long firmware and software update process fixed it.
    --- answered back ----
    Hello DatAsian,
     Thank you for your response.
This is a very large wireless network, and as far that I know I am the only one having this issue. My other devices on the same cube work fine. The only difference is of course Windows 10. The other machines are Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.
In the past this was caused by a driver, but I have gotten about 6 different version of my wireless driver and they all have this issue.
I read on the troubleshoot about entering the wireless configuration manually by using the "Hidden network" screen. The instructions go:
    2. Tax or click to connect to a network
    3. Tap or click Hidden network tap or click Connect and then enter the network info.
I cannot find this "Hidden network" text on the "Connect to a network" screen. Am I missing something? Do I need to check something that allows me to connect to Hidden network?
One thing that I forgot to mention. I need to enter my user name and password when I enter this wireless network, since this is Employee Own device network.
    Any other ideas?
    God bless,
    Bruno

  • Self-assigned ip address -- can't connect to Airport

I have a 2006 MacBook Pro which recently started exhibiting the exact same behaviour as reported by another poster in 2011:
For some reason the computer has started self-asigning its IP address and Network Preferences says that, because of the self-assigned IP, i cannot connect to the network.
I have two other Macs connecting to the same Air Port with no issues and I've tried to duplicate those settings on the MacBook Pro but still get the "self-assigned ip" message
Tried re-setting SMC and PRAM, no change.
The only change to my wireless setup was the change from a Verizon-owned modem to an owned Motorola unit (but the MacBook Pro connected successfully, many times, after the change).
I didn't knowingly change anything on the MacBook Pro -- from one day to the next it just stopped connecting.
I'm really at a loss to understand what's going on and, of course, not happy that the MacBook Pro can't connect to my network anymore! Help!

The wifi icon shows no connection with the network -- the "!" mark.
However the computer sees the network, i.e. when I search in Network Preferences the network is listed.
So: 1) the computer sees the network but 2) will not connect to the network. The reason given for refusal to connect is "self-assigned IP address".
Not to be repetitive but two other Mac laptops are connected to the same network and working perfectly. The network preferences, as shown in the "advanced" section, are the same for all machines, i.e. DHCP is selected and IPv6 is Automatic.

I did everything the article suggests. And for my macbook pro it works perfectly. But all the other devices (iphone 5, 4, Macbook Air) can't connect to the network. Anybody any idea's?

Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too.
