Wireless printing border issues

Hello Everyone,
I'm having trouble with Airport Extreme wireless printing when using a Canon i9900. When I print using the wireless option the printer prints off the right side of the paper. It ignores the page borders completely. It does not do this when I print using a USB connection. I have updated my drivers but this did not seem to solve the problem. I am running OSX 10.6.8 if that info helps. Thanks in advance for your help.
Salutations, Jo

When a printer is Wi-Fi enabled, as you know, it performs as a wireless client on the network. The printer, itself, provides print server services. All interaction between this printer and the Mac is via the printer driver installed on the Mac, the router (regardless of brand) does not come into play ... except to provide the communication path between the two. On the other hand, if you connect this same printer to the USB port of the Extreme, it's the Extreme that takes over the print server function. Printer drivers, may or may not, be written to support both connection types.
It may be that the Canon printer driver does not support certain features of this printer when connected by wireless, but supports them when connected by USB ... although, I'd admit that would be a bit odd, especially if the printer is sold as being network-ready.

Here is our dillemma.   We have an iMac running on OS 10.6.8, a Lexmark X4650 wireless printer and a PC.  The iMac, PC and work computers and ipads as well as the printer all connect to our network.  I can print from the PC but I can't from the iMac.  I have reset the printers on the iMac.  I have unplugged and plugged back in the modem and router. I have pinged the printer from the iMac, and have found all of the ip addresses, on all devices the first three sets of numbers are all the same, and the last 3 digits are different on each device (printer, pc, imac).  When trying to print from the mac, I get the "unable to connect to printer", "device is busy", or "printer is off line".
Any help of information on solutions would be grateful.
    Thanks!

  • Wireless printer adapter issue

I purchased an HP802.11b/g Wireless Printer Adapter for an HP H470wbt printer; I installed the driver on a laptop with Windows Vista; I could never get the printer to work wirelessly; I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 and attempted to install the wireless printer driver but failed - I believe it is because the driver is not compatible with Windows 7.
I cannot even find the product on HP's website to see if there is any installation upgrade.
Can anyone offer how I might make this work?

OK, I just got it to work....unplug the power cable from the printer, and unplug the power cable from the outlet...wait 30 seconds and replug. If the printer does not power up on it's own, power it up. I also reset my router. After a day of trying to figure this out, it's working. BUT, it definitely had something to do with the Mac Software Update. Hope it works for you!

  • Designjet T120 printing border issues

I am at my wits end trying to print without a wide border showing up on one end, no matter the size. 8 1/2 x 11 or 11 x 17 or even on a 24" roll.  I have the newest driver and it's still a problem.  I go into the area of my printer settings to fix it and have tried all combinations to do so to no avail.  Why is it so hard?  The HP printer dialog says 8.11 x 10.14 for actual print area and you can see the picture showing a wide border at the top with smaller border around the rest of the photo I'm printing.   I go into the printer settings under borders and no matter what I change it to it doesn't change it. Please help.Is it possible to do borderless printing?Where do I fix the problem and make whatever borders I want?I also don't like having 2 areas to adjust the printer- The HP Designjet Preview screen and the printer settings itself. Also the list of paper sizes makes it difficult- why not just give the sizes instead of all these Architectural standard sizes?  Thanks to anyone for advice on getting the borders issue resolved.

  • HP Photosmart series 7510 wireless printer issue

I have a  HP Photosmart series 7510 wireless printer.
My laptop is an HP Pavillion Entertainment PC dv9700.
I am running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2.
The printer stopped responding when I attempt to print something from the laptop, such as a web page or document.  When I print a diagnostic page it goes and responds right away.
Any ideas of what I may try.  When I set up a regular print job it just stays in the que and does not print.
    Thank in advance.

    Hello szwonders,
I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with printing with your Photosmart 7510. Thank you for your information.
I would like to help you.
I recommend Resetting your Printer first, to see if that helps.
Also, I recommend running HP's Print and Scan Doctor for Windows to search the driver and software to see if there are any issues.

  • HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Printing Issues with Online Maps & Financial Institutions

I have an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer that I have wireless connection to my HP G72 Laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) with Internet Explorer 9.  I am having trouble printing online maps from either Bing Maps or Google Maps.  It seems the print jobs get stuck in the print que and always show an indefinite status of “Printing” in the que but never get printed.
I’ve tested my other applications including Office 2010 and all other jobs seem to print just fine.  I do use the “Print” button located in each of the online Map sites (Bing, Google).  This is when the jobs get stuck.
I do also have the HP Bing Bar installed with Smart Print.  The Smart Print feature seems to work with the online maps just fine (seems I’ll just use it instead).
Another separate printing issue is that I can never get any of my online financial transactions to print from any of my online financial institutions with either the Internet 9 print features or the HP Bing Smart Print feature.  I can never get those to print (have to wait for the PDF statements to be available).
Any ideas as to why I can print the maps or online financial transaction?  I get no error messages either.

  • Wireless Printing issues with HP Deskjet 2540

    Hello everyone,
I am experiencing an issue with an HP Deskjet 2540 printer - it prints if I have connected it to a USB cable; however, it refuses to print if I try to print wirelessly.
I had initially solved this problem when I went to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners and noticed two Deskjet 2540 series icons in a window titled 'Printers'. I ended up removing one of these icons and set the other one as a default, which seemed to temporarily solve my problem. Now, I see two icons back in this 'Printers' menu and my printer refuses to print through my wireless connection.
My printer is connected to my internet connection so I don't think there is an issue here - I also have recently installed the software for this printer to make sure there was not some sort of driver issue; however, this does not seem to give me the permanent solution I am looking for.
Any Advice? My operating system is OS X Version 10.9.5

    Hey @love2dance,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I understand you're having difficulty printing wirelessly with your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with this and may have some steps that will ensure you can print wirelessly from your Mac.
I recommend you start from scratch and re-do your printer install and wireless setup for best results.
Firstly, make doubly sure your printer is connected to your wireless network by doing the following:
Step one: Prepare for installationTo gather your network name (SSID) and password (WEP key or WPA passphrase), you can ask the person who originally set up your network, see the documentation that came with the router, or contact the manufacturer. HP cannot set up or change the network SSID or the password.
Make sure that you have the following requirements before you begin:
Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
WEP key or WPA security passphrase
A computer that is connected to the wireless network.
Internet access. HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
Your wireless-capable HP product. Place it close to the computer during the installation procedure.
A USB cable (used only during installation).
    Administrator privileges or password
Make sure the product, access point, and computer are all on, and that the computer is connecting to the wireless network.
Connect the USB Cable to the rear port of the HP product and to any USB port on the computer.
Exit all applications running on your computer.
    Source
Secondly, prepare your Mac by removing any existing printers added:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Scan from the View menu.
Click the "-" (Remove printer) button.
Next, click here to download and install your printer's software.  As you work your way through the setup, follow the prompts to convert your usb install to wireless.  With this setup completed successfully your wireless printing capability should be restored.
One way to preserve this wireless connection is to make sure your wireless mode/router is left on continually.  If at anytime your network connection is lost, reconnecting your printer will mean that it's being assigned a new IP address.  The significance here is that your Mac will be looking to connect with the printer at an IP address that is no longer applicable.
Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  Best of luck!

  • Wireless printing issue. Lonovo Think Pad v. Office jet pro 8600

I went through all 7 of the trouble shooting steps but still can't get my wireless printing to work with my Lonovo laptop T430 and my HP office jet Pro 8600 ..last resort was to join the forum so here I am. all connections appear to be on line and as they should be until I try to print a document.  The print window tells me printer is offline but the printer network test tells me it passed all tests and is connected and ready.  Using windows 7 operating system.

llbbsis, if everything passes my initial concern is that you might not be connected to the same network on your printer as your computer is connected to. So the first thing i would check is being sure that the SSID on both is the same and not something like "NetworkName" and "NetworkName -Guest."
Next, have you used the Print and Scan Doctor from HP? It is a good tool to diagnose and treat some of the smaller issues with printing:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03286146
Check those two things first and get back with me, if you need further help I am more than willing to do whatever I can to get the issue at hand taken care of.
    Have a great day!

  • Mac Address Filtering Issue with DI-624 router and HP D110 Wireless Printer

Just got the D110 Wireless Printer and cannot connect to the wireless router.
    I have a D-Link DI-624 Air Plus Xtreme G 2.4GHz Wireless Router.
The error message that I'm recieving from the printer is that "Mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router. This  can prevent your HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup....etc."
The D-Link is setup using WPA-PSK security. If I turn off all security than the wireless printer is able to connect. With WPA-PSK or even WEP enabled I cannot connect the printer to the wireless router. There is no connection to hardwire the printer and the router.
I've logged on to the router's admin and have confirmed several times that Mac filtering is turned off by going to Advanced > Filters > Mac Filters > and choosing Disabled Mac Filters. Where else is this setting? Why is the printer not able to connect?
Further, I check the logs on the router and it shows "Wireless PC Connected" and "Authentication Success" with a note that has the Mac Hardware Address matching the printer's mac hardware address on the Wireless Network Test Report. It would appear that the router is letting the Print in but that the printer is not able to communicate for some reason. It even shows under status > wireless that the printer is connected.
When i spoke to HP, they said to contact the router company and that they could not help. When I called D-Link they said tech support is no longer available for the model. I'm stuck, can anybody help?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Windows XP, tried both the front of the printer as well as connecting via USB and using the software.
After a few hours on the phone with both D-Link and HP, the issue has been resolved.
Apparently eventhough Mac Filtering was disabled (set to Disabled MAC Filters), the Mac address had to be entered into the router to allow it while keeping the setting to Disabled Mac Filters. To me it appeared counter intuitive to enter the Mac address while it's set to Disabled Mac Filters so I did not try that before getting on the phone with HP. Further on this, the problem did not go away right after adding the mac address but rather after restarting the router as the mac address addition did not take effect without a reboot of the device.
HP was much more helpful than D-Link on this one though it would be nice for HP to add to their instructions and Wireless Network Test Report to add the Mac address just in case. I would have tried that step if it was stated that it's okay to add the mac address and keep mac filters disabled.

  • Wireless printer issues after installing lion OS

Since installing the Lion Os on 13th September 2011, I have experienced intermittent wireless printing problems.
When you try to print the printer icon comes up with an error, and the message is 'the printer is not connected'. The printer is on and wiFi is lit up. Sometimes by cancelling the print job and then requesting it again clears the problem. When I access the printer in the settings pane it is there and showing idle with a green light, but when you try to print the connection goes.
Sometimes I have to input the administrator password and then it will print. Other times that will not work and I have had to delete the printer and re install it. The problem still exists though.
It exists on all user profiles on the iMac (4)

I have the same problem. I have checked for drivers, and just a couple days ago an updated driver for my printer came through the Mac's Software Update, but it didn't fix the problem. I'm seeing a lot of people with this problem, with different routers and different printers since Lion came out, so I'm fairly certain it's a Lion problem. I hope someone comes up with an answer soon, or I might just break out my PC...

Are you running 8 or 8.1.  There is a bug in the network default configuration in 8.1 that will cause this behavior.  If you have 8, are you connecting over Standard TCP/IP Port or WSD?
Did you already install a vendor driver?  Which device are you connecting to.
