Wireless printing connection over large network

I have  computer in a large apt. complex which comes with Wifi, and a single password for everyone in the building. I have a Wireless HP Printer and a Mac OSX.6 .  I want to be able to wirelessly connect the printer to my Mac, but the printer wont accept the password because so many other computers are also on the same network. (20 to be exact).
How does the setup work so this can be done?
Thank you in advance

Hi,
In this environment, the safetest and quickest way for one computer: use USB cable. For more than one computer, using a separate home network will help.
Regards.

  • Wireless printer connection

I lost my wireless printer connection. It keeps telling me the printer is "offline" What do I do?

WHAT TYPE OF PRINTER DO YOU HAVE????
Try doing the "wireless setup wizard"
-this usually found in the SETUP menu> wirless(network)> Wireless

  • Changed wireless providers, now Wireless Printer is off the network

I recently switched wirless providers and the printer dropped off the network. I don't see a way through the printer itself to establish a new connection, and I can't connect it to my mackbook air through a USB and have any luck either. I reinstalled the disc and as soon as I select the option for a wireless printer in the setup, an "unexpected error" quits the process and I'm back to square one. How do I get the printer back on my new network? Thanks!

I appreciate the reply and understand needing every bit of information possible to increase the likelihood of a detailed answer. Going through everything I need to provide, however, will take me some time to find all the answers.
Is there just a short and simple way to reconnect a wireless printer to a new network? If it doesn't work, I understand it was a simple attempt and I'll get all the additional information like the kind of network, etc., but don't know all of that right now. It would seem reasonable that HP had a way to reconnect a wireless printer if you got a new network (or switched providers, etc.).
    Thanks in advance!

  • Use Airport Express G to set up wireless printing on a N network?

I currently have a N network set up, with a First Gen Airport Extreme acting as the main hub, and the latest Airport Express N used to extend the range of the network.
However, I would now like to set up a wireless printer in another part of the house, and I have a spare first gen Airport Express G lying around - Would it be possible to make use of this Airport Express G to add the wireless printer onto my N network?
I guess my question is, is the airport express G compatabile with my N network if I just use it for wireless printing? And if so, how do I go about setting it up?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello again
I'm still having the same problem.  I go through the step by step setup for wifi but when I get to step number 5 (HTMLConfig) instead of opening the next window it takes me back to the previous one.
The step by step instructions are here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02847467&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
I have also looked in the manual that came with the printer but it basically just says "follow the on screen instructions for setup when you install the CD" which I have already done.
All my software is up to date.   I have OS Mavericks and there are no updates pending.
My printer is not compatible with Airprint so I cannot use that option.  I did not use the WPS method as you instructed.  I opted for Method 3: Wireless setup using a USB connection.

  • I have an HP LaserJet 8150N that I am trying to get connected via ethernet cable directly to my iMac. I always had this printer connected via a network so I don't know if I am able to connect directly with a cable since it is a network printer.

I have an HP LaserJet 8150N that I use for my work and I have had this printer for ever and it is one heck of a work horse! I am trying to get it connected via ethernet cable directly to my iMac. I always had this printer connected via a network so I don't know if I am able to connect directly with a cable since it is a network printer. I have tried to reconfigure the printer using the JetDirect menu giving it a new IP address but still no luck. If anyone could help me through this issue I would appreciate it.

Second, seeing "connecting" and connection failed is normal. You must click on "Connect As" in the Finder window and then enter the username and password for the admin account on the other computer. That should fix things.
    Thanks for responding.
When does clicking on "Connect As" happen in the process above?
    After step six? Seven?
    After the connection has failed?
Is this the FInder window that shows the icon of the computer you want to copy the file from?
You should see "Connect As" in the Finder near the top right of the window as shown below:

  • I have a new Epson wireless printer connected and the iPad recognizes it but it won't print. What is AirPrint and how do I connect it?

I have a new Epson wireless printer connected and the iPad recognizes it but it still won't print.  What is AirPrint & how do I connect to it?

    Patti-
Is your Epson printer on Apple's list of AirPrint capable printers?  See <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356>.
If it is an AirPrint printer, then your WiFi router may not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update, that will make it work.
One other possibility is that there could be a print job stuck in the iPad's print queue.  Double click the iPad's Home button and a row of recent Apps will appear along the bottom of the screen.  Scroll across and see if the Print Center is there.

  • Can you print from an iPad to non wireless printer connected to timecapsule

I just purchase an iPad. Can I print to non wireless printer connected to timecapsule? If yes, what app do I need for the iPad?

You might want to take a look at Print Central or Printopia.
PrintCentral for iPad on the iTunes App Store
Printopia - AirPrint to Any Printer - Print from iPad - Print from iPhone ...
I can verify that Printopia works just fine for me on my iPad, but haven't tried Print Central.

  • I cannot printany web pages or emails over a wireless home network. My OS is windows 7 and am using an Epson printer. I know I have the home network set up correctly as i can print files over the network.

I cannot print any email or web pages over a wireless home network. I know that I can print my files over this network, just not anything from the web or emails using Firefox. I am using Windows 7 and printing to an Epson.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== when I set up the wireless home network.

The most likely reason for this is that the wrong printer is chosen in the File->Print window.
In Firefox, go to File->Print and click the dropdown box with printer names. Ensure that the correct network printer is selected, then try printing again.

  • Wireless printing problem in home network officejet 6700

    1.HP Officejet 6700 Premium

    3. My printer is connected to my house's wireless network and has accessibility to the internet, but when I try wireless printing from my iphone, ipad or macbook pro the printer "can not be seen". Saying " no air printers available".
But if i unplug the printer's power and plug it back in, when it just gets connected to the wireless network again I am able to "see" the printer for a brief moment and thus I'm able to print. But a little while later disappears again.

  • Attempted to set up an HP wireless printer and my whole network is now a mess.  HP help told me I had too many signals, as I have a Time Capsule 4 Macs and 4 Airport Express set up.  Anyone else figure this out?

I attempted to set up a new HP wireless printer.  It is unstable and HP support says I have too many devices since I have a time capsule and 4 airport express either extending my network or being used for a different printer or stereos.  Anyone else find that their Airport Express/Extreme interferes with a wireless printer. If so, what's the point?

I have a similar model, the  HP 8500A here in the home office that I originally hooked up using wireless on an AirPort system consisting of an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule and 2 AirPort Express devices.
The HP was originally hooked up to the "main" router using wireless as a test to see how wireless would perform. No issues with setup or performance over the first few weeks. I did eventually change the device to connect using Ethernet once I had room to move the device near the AirPort Extreme.
HP is pulling your leg with the advice about too many devices. The AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule will handle up to 50 wireless devices. In my case, I did nothing except follow the setup procedure and restart the entire network....something that I always do when I make any change to the network.

  • Hp 1320n will not connect over the network

    Hi,
I'm trying to get my macbook pro to with 10.6.8 to connect to my HP 1320n printer through the network. It works fine when I have it connected directly via USB.  I'm trying to get it to work through the network.  I have the printer connected to the router and My macbook pro is using wireless.  It can detect it with bonjour but when I try to to print it says trying to connect then can't.  I tried setting it up with the IP address that the printer has but it can't connect to it either.  I got the printer address by pressing the green button on the back of it.  Also is there anyway to reset the printer?  it has an old host name which I can;t figure out how to change.  I tried holding the green button in the back for 3 sec.  I also tried turning it off and then back on while holding the green 'GO' button on the top, both failed to reset anything.
ultimatily I'm trying to get my two 1320n printers work work with my 2 computers in the office.  My other is an imac with the latest version of software.
    Any help is appreciated.

try making certain that you have the latest drivers installed, which you can caget fron HP. After downloading do to system prefs>>print/fax. hightlight the HO1320n (use the - key). then use the add 9+) key ang select the HP1320n icon to add the nem printer. Set the HP as your your default printer. When you go to print for the first time, make sure that the selected printed is the the HP1320. It should go. Sometimes it need to be re-created when there are multiples.
Good luck and hope this helps

  • IPad air to wireless printer connection?

HHow to connect iPad to wireless printer?

First off, the printer needs to be AirPrint capable, and then connected to the same wi-fi network as the iPad. If it is not AirPrint capable, then there may be an app that supports that brand of the printer in the App Store that might allow the device to work. About AirPrint - Apple Support

  • Wireless printer not discovered on network

I have been struggling with printing on my new HomeHub 4A.  My HP4620 all-in-one wireless printer is connecting by wi-fi.  The web server can be accessed by both a wired desktop and a wireless laptop, but neither device can print.  I searched the forum for similar issues, but solutions such as fixing the IP address made no difference.
I never had any trouble with my last router (on O2/Sky).  Indeed, when I got it out of the box and re-connected the devices, I was able to print straight away, so it seems reasonable to point the finger at the HH.
I monitored traffic between PC and printer using Wireshark.  It was obvious that some of it was missing from the HH connection - including the UDP packets for Web Services Discovery.  The only traffic I saw between PC and printer when I started to print was SNMP request/responses, continuously repeated until the print job was cancelled.  With the O2 router, only one request/response exchange was seen, followed by the printing traffic.
I've seen other routers suppress discovery-type packets from wi-fi and wonder if this is what I'm seeing here.  If so, is there any way to turn it on?  Alternatively, is there another way for my printer to announce itself to Windows devices?

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. There is good news and bad news!
I tried most of things posted; I changed the wifi channel to 11, I unistalled the HP software on my laptop, disconnected the dsl cable to the router and then reinstalled the HP software (with my Mcafee firewall disabled) and SUCCESS, the printer worked wirelessly!!
So then I did it all again on my PC and it also worked.
I tried restarting my laptop and printer still worked wirelessly
I tried turning off the printer and put it back on and again it still worked.
    That's the good news.
Printer, laptop and PC all switched over night, turned them on again today and surprise surprise I can't print wirelessly.
The printer wireless test report says that it is connected to the router. When I log onto the router (Thompson Gateway) it can see the printer but shows it as being inactive. Is this a printer fault? A router fault? I'v not bothered disabling the router firewall today as I can't see this making any difference but I'm running out of ideas
    Any other suggestions from anyone??!!
