Wireless printing is very slow

My wireless printing to my canon mp830 through my airport extreme is VERY slow. about 3 minutes a page, and that's a text page. i've read that this happened in a recent update. but i can't find any info on how to fix it. could someone please help me. thanks.

OK, first are you positive that the HP software you loaded on your Mac is compatible with 10.6?  That is a common mistake that has special, non-obvious ways to correct.
You could try to set a static IP address if the software is not an issue.
Please advise on the software and we will go from there.

  • How to clear cookies, wireless internet connection very slow

My ethernet speed is very good, but my wireless speed is getting very slow.  I wanted to clear my cookies, not sure how to do that and would that help?

Hold down the option key and select the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar. What values are shown for the following?
              PHY Mode
              Channel
              Security
              Signal/Noise or RSSI
              Transmit (or Tx) Rate
Please do not post the BSSID, as that information is private.
Now hold down the option key again and select
               ▹ System Information... ▹ Network ▹ Wi-Fi
Compare the two-letter Country Code with the ISO code for your country. Does it match? The code X0 means that the country couldn't be determined. The code X3 means South America, not otherwise specified.

  • Wireless Internet connection very slow

The wireless connection has gotten very slow. I have restarted the modem but that has not improved the connection. I am about to restart the TC and see if that improves the connection. What is the best way to shut the TC down and restart it? The only way I know is to unplug for 15 seconds and then put the plug back in.
    Thanks

    Try the following ...
o Power-down the modem, Time Capsule (TC), and computer(s); wait at least 10-15 minutes. Order is not critical.
o Power-on the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Plug-in the TC; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s).

  • Wireless N connection very slow

I was running my wireless router at home (internet through Comcast) in mixed mode (b/g/n), and noticed that my S3's download speed when on the wireless seemed very slow. I confirmed this using speedtest.net (the android app) and saw a very big difference between the S3 on the wireless router and my laptop. I tested my wife's laptop and S3 as well, with the same results. (The laptops consistently got 20Mbps down while the S3s both got around 1.8Mpbs down.) The 4g LTE speeds were incredible, but since I'm on a data cap now, I can't use that for the majority of what I want to do with the phone.
After some testing, I found that if I disabled N altogether on my router, our S3s connect and get the same speeds as our laptops. Now my router runs only in 2.4Ghz band, and I have not had a chance to test my N connection on a 5Ghz band. For whatever reason, the Verizon version of the S3 does not have a setting where you can tell the phone what band to connect to, but from what I've read it only connects at 2.4. I'm going to try some more testing to see if this is in fact the case or not.
Anywho, I'm now getting good download speeds connecting in mode G, but I'm kind of bummed that Verizon has (surprise surprise) limited the phone in this way. AT&T and Sprint customers I've talked to are able to connect to Wireless N, and though some of them have problems if the band is set in auto mode, if they specifically choose the band their router is running in, it works just fine. Don't get me wrong, I choose to be with Verizon and generally am happy with the service (losing unlimited data notwithstanding), but I just don't understand why they took away the ability to control the wireless connection in this way. Its doesn't make sense.

First of all, the speeds you are quoting all sound like Mbps (megabits per second) connection speeds, not data throughput speeds.  You really need to measure your actual download speed to tell what is actually going on with your system.
Use speedtest.net and test your system.  Turn off all other computers except the test computer.  Test under the following conditions:
    1)  connect one computer, by wire, directly to your modem
    2)  connect the same computer, by wire, directly to your router
    3)  connect the same computer wireless to your router
    4)  connect your other computers, wirelessly to the router, one at a time
Also, state the speed that you are paying your ISP for.
Report your download and upload speeds for all of the above tests.
Note that the speed that you are paying for should be about the same as your results from test 1 and 2 above.
After you have done these tests, it will be much easier to tell where the problem is.

  • Wireless Printing Data Send Slow

I've have an 2Wire wireless router connected to a DSL line. I've hooked a Time Capsule up to the 2Wire. The Time Capsule is on one wireless network (n) , the 2Wire on another (a/b/g)(suggested by an Apple Genius due to an older Windows laptop I have connected to the 2Wire). Everything works great, connectivity is good, signal good and stable. However I have an HP wireless printer hooked up to the (n) network and the time it takes to send even one page of simple text to it to print is fairly painful. It can take a full 3 - 5 minutes after hitting "print" for the printer to receive the data. Once the printer has the data, it prints as fast as it would hooked up via USB. Internet speeds from both Time Capsule and 2Wire seem fine.
Is there anything I might be able to do to speed up the data send to the printer, or is this just the nature of the wireless printing beast?
    Thanks,
    Jim

OK, let's pick on the router a bit.  Let's run this test:
    - unplug the fiber optic cable from the back of the router.
    - remove and re-apply the power cord on the router.
    - with the fiber optic cable removed, try to print - is it faster?

  • My PSC750xi printer is very slow

I have used this printer for a long time with few problems.  Of late it runs very slowly, suddenly picks up speed then slows down again.  It's like it prints a few lines then stops for a while to think about it, prints a few more then stops again, and so on.  I have read what I can on the web - replace the ink cartridge, unplug power and connection, wait 30 seconds, etc., but to no avail.  Suggestions would be appreciated.
I run a home tower computer with XP Home SP3, lots of free RAM (2MB), lots of free memory (250GB), 1.8GHz, well maintained.

  • Printing is very Slow on DotMatrix Printer

    Hi,
I need to print the report directly on locally attached printer without appearing the printer selection screen. For this I implement the following code
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_COMM_MODE, SYNCHRONOUS); SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE, RUNTIME); --- BATCH, RUNTIME
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_DESTYPE, PRINTER);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_DESFORMAT,'PDF'); --- 'html'
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_SERVER, 'repserver');
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_OTHER,'paramform=NO');
After execution , it gives the error " FILE DOES NOT BEGIN WITH '%PDF'
    but when I simply use
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id, REPORT_DESTYPE, FILE);
Report is open in PDF format successfully.
    1) How can I take the output directly on the printer.
    2) How report can be taken fast on DotMatrix Printer,
( when if I take the print out from the PDF generated reports on only DotMatrix Printer it takes huge time, not the other laser printer. )
    Kindly Help me
    Regards.
    Priya

I am printing to a R2400 with the same issue. I have everything up to date software, firmware, etc. I just updated to OS 10.4.5 and this actualy increased the speed by about 25% but it's still slower thtn should be expected.

  • Print service very slow to forward the job...

    Hi,
On 10.5.1 server, in the system preferences, i created a new printer in LPD (Fiery Z3000).
Then i started the print services ans published this new printer in "Bonjour".
All users can now create this new printer shared by leopard server and print through this serveur but i wonder why the 10.5.1 server keep the jobs a very long time (5-10 mn) before sending it on the right printer.
Do you know how i can setup Leopard server to print the job immediatly when it receives the PostScript file ?
    Thank you
    Marc

    hi,
leopard server SHOULD relay the printing job to the printer immediately (at least it does so on my network). have you seen any log entries in the server admin for Printing or for DNS? Is DNS setup correctly for your printer (lookup and reverse lookup go to the same hostname/address?)?

  • Printing from CS3 under Vista to Windows 2003 server print que very slow

I just upgraded one of my machines to vista with CS3. I normally print to a windows 2003 server print spool que. When I go to print it takes forever to pull up my different printers and then go to properties. On my XP machines there is no problem, I can select the print que, go into properties for my printer and it works fine. Something with Vista, CS3 and WIndows 2003 server?

Im curious about your 802.1x issues are. Im testing user profiles VS login window profiles for 802.1x on our Cisco wi-fi LAN right now, and I'm scratching my head on how the login window profile is actually supposed to work. Its a chicken-and-the-egg situation for me. I cant use user login window profiles, I have to use user profiles, which don't work very well in my environment for various reasons. Granted, it has improved since 10.5.3, but its still not working as I expect it to work. Do you have a Apple Discussion post related to this issue I can read?

  • Wireless connections get very slow

Hi, I'm having a nightmare lately with my wireless connections, it's not the network I'm connecting to as I've checked that with other machines, it's a problem with the wireless card in my machine.
For a while it works OK, then it just slows right down, the only way to get it back upto speed is by rebooting. Anyone know of a solution?

Not sure if this will help but I was experiencing a similar issue (at least the symptoms) on my MacBook. Got a new router and setup it up as the previous one was (same SSID, WEP key, etc). For some reason the MacBook did not like the WEP implementation on this router and it would get slower and slower until no more network access. Rebooting would fix.
As soon as I changed the router to use WPA2 (or something like that) the issues were gone. Now it just works.
Note that from all other machines, NO issues were happening. Just on the MacBook.
After changing the encryption to use the newer thing, all is good now.
I would try changing that and/or playing with settings like channel, etc.

  • AEBS (2nd Gen) WPS printing is very slow

I recently purchased an HP Laserjet Professional 1102w (with Airprint) when Apple updated the utility to support WPS printer pairing. Occasionally documents will take upward 10 minutes to print when there is little complexity to the document. The printer will complete a page then wait several minutes to do the next page in the job. I believe this is something to do with the router because it is not evident when using tethered USB printing.

That tutorial really doesn't do anything any different than using the WPS configuration. That tutorial is just the manual procedure for the setup. It did illuminate one possibility for the slow printing. If you simply press the sign in the print & scan preference pane and add the "nearby" network printer you desire then it defaults to the Airprint driver for the device.
If you instead click "add printer or scanner" and select the printer from proceeding menu then it provides the ability to change the default driver to the HP Laserjet P1102w driver. I printed two consecutive multipage documents over the network without any delay. I will monitor the performance over the next several times I print and see if this is the true solution to the issue.
Intially though, it does appear that there is an Airprint driver issue either with the printer's handling of the protocol or something specific the Mac driver release. I haven't printed many items from my iPad or iPhone, so I can't really isolate it to a general Airprint driver issue or an Airprint support issue with this printer.

  • Very Slow Wireless Connection

I bought a while ago a WRT54G V6.0 and although the wired connection works pretty well, the wireless connection is very slow, I have trouble accessing web pages but once it enters a site i can navigate through it without a problem, but when I go to another website I struggle to enter. I have tried updating the router several times, changing the transmission channel and it seems nothing works. could someone please help?

try changing the MTU size on the router ui in the following order .... 1492 , 1452 , 1365 ... check whether it makes any difference ...
