Wireless Printing set up

Hi,
My printer is no longer on my network because we've upgraded the Modem, etc.  When I was ready to reconnect it to the network in order to print wirelessly the SET UP ASSITANT is showing on the bottom of the screen as an interrogation mark icon.  Was it deleted? what happened? and how do I get it back so to get my printer working again?
Thank you
Monica

Hello @MGTess!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some assistance regarding your HP Photosmart C4380 and wireless printing on the Mac.  If you have upgraded the modem then you will want to ensure the printer is reconnected to the Wi-Fi.
To reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi you must run the HP software.  You are not going to be able to do this on your Mac computer running 10.10 operating system.  there is no HP software available for the Photosmart C4380.  in order to get your printer back on the network you will need to use a Mac running 10.6 or lower or use a computer running Windows.  If you do not have them available you should be able to use the printer with the USB cable for now.
when you have a computer available with a computable operating system version run the HP Software and when prompted by the software plug in the USB cable. the computer will configure the printer Wi-Fi and the software will then ask you to remove the USB cable.  Follow the on screen instructions to finish the setup.  Once the printer is back on the network  go back onto the Mac and add the printer by following these steps: Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update.
Please post back and let me know if it worked for you!

  • Need network security settings for wireless printer set-up

I have an older airpot extreme base station. I'm trying to set-up my wireless brother printer and it says that I need the following network information:
    SSID- I know this one
    Authentication Method (open system/shared key/WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK)
    Encription Mode (None/WEP/TKIP/AES/CKIP)
    Encryption Key (WEP key/Passphrase)
From what I've found, I believe that I should be using WPA-PSK and TKIP, but what is that passphrase that I'm supposed to use or where can I find out that information?

I am also trying to set up a wireless printer set up. I have an Airport Extreme and a new Brother wireless printer. Sounds perfect, right? Well, I am so confused right now. I bought an Airport Extreme while overseas a bunch of years ago and am now using it in the States. I have no memory of any info such as what is being asked from me to set up wireless printing. I don't remember the wireless security password, authenication method, or either of the Encryption thingies. I don't know where to find this information, whether it be on my computer somewhere or online. Please advise. Plus I don't use any security settings as I live pretty far from other humans in my neighborhood. Does that matter in the big picture?
    Please help a girl out!

  • Wireless Printing Set Up for HP Printer

Hey everybody, I am trying to set up a HP Officejet J6480 Printer on a wireless network, and the instructions that come with the printer are giving me nothing but problems. Does anybody have any instructions on how to set up this printer that are better then the junk ones that came with the machine?
    Thanks!

I have exactly that printer. I would say that the setup of the printer and wireless went surprisingly smoothly (I have bad experiences with HP), but I agree that the instructions are confusing. What I did was inserting the disk and following the instructions there. Here are some hints that may be helpful
I first set it up on a MacBook running Tiger. I just used the supplied CD and followed the instructions and it worked smoothly. Two points of confusion
    - The getting started guide says to install the software first, and then connect the printer, but the wireless setup guide states to connect the printer first and then install software (for Macs). I opted for the latter, and that worked out.
    - The instructions says to add the printer to the printer setup utility. However, it was already there. I decided to add it again. The documentation says to add it using "HP IP printing." The closest was on option saying "hpip," and that worked.
I then set it up on a MacBook Air running Leopard. Again it when smoothly, except for some point of confusion.
    - The documentation does not explicitly say how to set up a second computer. Do you connect it through USB at first again? It turned out that once it's set up as a wireless printer, it shows up as a "bonjour" wireless printer on additional computers, and one just has to choose that to set it up.
    - I tried to press the button for "printer setup utility" to add the printer at the appropriate point in the installation process, and nothing happened. After some web research I found out that Leopard does not have a "printer setup utility" but instead has that functionality as part of the system preferences.

  • C7000 wireless printing set up says offline

I have my existing Phontosmart C7200, I have it connected to my network, but when I actually go to print from my laptops it says printer offline??
What do I need to do to complete this set up?

To turn on wireless printer you need to check the printer cables and make sure that all connections are secure. Check whether any wireless printer cable is disconnected since this is the most common cause of offline printer cable. The second reason to solve this issue is you just turn off your wireless printer and wait for one or two minutes and turn it back on; this problem happens because of a certain glitch in your wireless network.
Set peace of mind as your highest goal, and organize your life around it.

  • Lion and wireless printing set up

How do I set up my brother mfc 9970cdw laser printer to work wirelessly with lion 10.7.4?

I can think of two possible ways, depending on how that printer is configured:
    1) If the printer is connected to another computer, configure that computer to share the printer.
    2) If that printer has built-in wireless capability, use the printer's documentation to configure it to join the local area network.  Then in the printer panel in System Preferences add the printer.

  • Problems with wireless printer set up for Macbook Air and iMac

I'm not having success in setting up  my Macbook Air (2012 ML version) and iMac wirelessly to a new Epson 837 printer. I've tried darn near everything and am coming to the conclusion that perhaps it's a router issue. Are there known issues with the Netgear N600? It's supposed to be Airprint compatible but yet my ipad and iphone doesn't recongnize either.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Yup, and since all your devices can probably access the Internet and other services over the router, you may want to study the printer's manual or use other Epson resources to figure out why that thing can't be talked to.
Oh, did I mention that already...?

  • Can I set up a wireless printer as a network printer and not use Airport?

I have a HP Photosmart Plus wireless printer set up in my network for use by several iPods, iPads, and iPhones.   I have an iMac running 10.6.8 that I want to set it up on, but to use it as a regular network printer, not using Airport.  Is this possible?  I haven't been able to hit on the right combination of settings.  I have a Samsung laser printer that works this way, and an Epson that is attached to an Airport Express, but all I get on the HP is garbage.  It will work when I set it up using the HP install disk, but I have to use Airport and I don't always get a good signal where the iMac is located.  I would prefer to use  the wired connection to my router and access the HP's IP address, like a wired network printer.     Any suggestions?

I'm using a Canon printer here which is networked via my Airport Express.  My printer cannot be Wi fi enabled simultaneousely with an ethernet cable connection. It is either or.  I realise that this doesn't fully answer your question, but I just wanted to give you a clue.  You'd need to consult your owners manual, or HP to get a definitive answer.
If you want to use the HP printer printer only with the wired ethernet connection to your router, that should be no problem as long as it is ethernet capable.
After setting it up for wired ethernet capability, you will need through the sequence of powering your router down, and resetting you Lan network so the router and printer can pick up their respective IP assignments.

  • How do I set up wireless printer w/o use of CD?

    Hello,
I spent a couple of hours trying to enable wireless connection to Brother MFC-J825DW printer. I was able to add a printer using USB cable, but how do I go about setting up the wireless printer setting without use of supplied CD? Laptop has OS 10.7.
Thanks in advance for your help.

From the Brother web page noted above:
My PC does not have a CD-ROM drive. How can I install the supplied software without a CD-ROM drive?
    Description:
The latest version of drivers, software* and manuals are available on the Brother Solutions Center.
    (*except for some software)
To download the drivers and software go to the Downloads section.
To download the manuals go to the Manuals section.
And for step-by-step network installation, see http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/002700/0 00094/faq002794_005.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfcj825dw_all&Cat=108
If this is more than you want to do, then as Ziatron suggested above, drop $79 on the Apple SuperDrive.

  • I can't add an older airport express to OS 10.7.5? Want to use for wireless printing and iTunes.

I'm using an Airport Extreme model A 1301 for my home's wireless network. I have three of the older Airport Express model A1084, which I was using for remote speakers for iTunes and for a wireless printer set up, but discontinued using them at some point. I currently have OS 10.7.5, and I could have sworn I was using that OS the last time I used the A1084s, but maybe I updated to it afterwards, I can't remember. At any rate, I've plugged one of the units in, look for it in Airport Utility, and get a message "this version of airPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use airPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support." I go there, download the program, install it, and get a message "The installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." Am I in a catch-22 here - am I not able to use the older A1084s because I need airPort Utility 5.6, but I can't use airPort Utility 5.6 because I have OS 10.7.5? Does this mean I may as well throw these older A1084s away?

If you have not already done so, I suggest that your start over on the AirPort Expess "from scratch" by performing a Factory Default Reset and then attempt to configure it to join the network again.
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
If you have an older Express, make sure that you are not trying to configure it to connect to the 5 GHz network, as it is unable to do so.
Assuming that the name of the wireless network, wireless security setting and password on the Express match up with the AirPort Extreme, the Express should "join" the network if it is working correctly.
If you are still having problems, all that you really can do is try the default reset a few more times. If still no luck, the Express....which is at least 5-6 years old or older, may likely need to be replaced with a new model.

  • I have an wireless printer and a new wifi router. I have set the printer and iPhone / iPad correctly to the new router but when i try to print it won't recognise the air printer. Help. All was working fine on my old router

I Have a new wifi router and have set up my iPad / iPhone and wireless printer correctly  to the new router but I can't print from the iPad and iPhone. It keeps saying ' no AirPrint printer found'. Help please!

Start with the most basic thing that you can try. Unplug the router from power for about 30 seconds, and restart the printer and the iPad and plug the router back into power.

  • How do i set up my wireless printer to work with my ipad 2

My ipad will not reconize my lexmark wireless printer what can I do

In UK BT generally use PPPoA authentication only so you will have to keep using the home hub as the main router. Put the Time Capsule.. TC.. in bridge mode. To do this go to the airport utility, on menu selection go to internet, and make sure it is set to ethernet for method of connection, and in connection sharing, select bridge. Then select update.. it will probably list some issues like password needing changing and access via wan etc .. almost all of which you can simply ignore.. as you are not using it in router mode.
The TC will save the setting and restart.. it will now exist as a wireless access point and switch on the network. The WAN is swapped to LAN, so there is no WAN port as such but it is still convenient to use WAN port marked <...> ethernet between home hub and the TC. Then setup wireless as you like. You can turn off the wireless in home hub, and just use the TC.. or use both, on different channels. That is no big problem. Set the security for the wireless is important and I would also manually set wireless channels and use different name for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless. But just start and learn what you need to as you go along. Getting the basics working should be fairly easy. Some of the more complex stuff you just need to read carefully the instructions..
    And read this site.
Carefully and until your eyes bleed. Almost everything you want to know is there already.

  • How to set up standalone wireless print server

I need step-by-step instructions on to set up a KonicaMinolta bizhub multifunction printer to print wirelessly from various Macs. In other words, it would not be hooked up to the internet or my wireless network. I understand this can be done with an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme. I tried it with a Linksys WPSM54G wireless print server without success. I'd like to try the AirPort Express, but so far haven't been able to get it to work.
How do I configure my AExp to operate as a print server? How should I have it connected when I do the configuration?
How do I find the print server's IP address?
When I plug in the AExp and connect it to the printer via USB, the AExp flashes amber and never turns green (and therefore never connects with the MacBook).
If I successfully set up the print server as a separate network, can I be connected to the printer and my wireless network at the same time? Or do I need to switch back and forth?
If I'm accessing the internet via Ethernet, can I simultaneously access the printer via AirPort?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How do I configure my AExp to operate as a print server?
The AirPort Express Base Station (AX) or AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) can only operate as a "print" server if the printer is attached to its USB port. Ethernet printers would require their own print server service if connected by Ethernet to either router.
How should I have it connected when I do the configuration?
Neither router would need a WAN port connection as both can provide a stand-alone wireless network. For a USB printer, it would need to be connected to the respective router's USB port.
How do I find the print server's IP address?
This would be the AirPort's LAN IP address. The default is: 10.0.1.1
When I plug in the AExp and connect it to the printer via USB, the AExp flashes amber and never turns green (and therefore never connects with the MacBook).
The flashing amber indicates that the AX has configuration issue. If you temporarily connect your MacBook directly to the AX's Ethernet port, and then, run the AirPort Utility, you can find out what the issue(s) is(are).
If I successfully set up the print server as a separate network, can I be connected to the printer and my wireless network at the same time? Or do I need to switch back and forth?
No, you would have to switch wireless networks. One way around this, is to have the AX configured to "Join a wireless network." This mode was specifically designed to allow the AX to perform as a wireless client and simultaneously provide both print sharing and iTunes streaming to network clients.
If I'm accessing the internet via Ethernet, can I simultaneously access the printer via AirPort?
Potentially, but your computer and the printer will be on separate broadcast domains/subnets.

  • My HP office jet 6500 printer is stuck on pause. I do not have an admin name or password as it is a wireless printer and I never had to set one up.  It keeps asking me for admin name and password...

My HP office jet 6500 printer is stuck on pause.  I do not have an admin name or password that it keeps prompting me to give, as it is a wireless printer and that info was not required when we set up the printer.  I have checked all diagnostics and connections and they are all good/passed.  I am so frustrated!!!    This has never happened in the past.

What is asking you for an admin name and password? What does the dialog say, exactly?
What model iMac are you using, and which OS version?
If it is earlier than Lion or Snow Leopard, try deleting the printer and adding it again as explained in this document

  • Setting up my macbook pro to hp officejet 6000 wireless printer

Having trouble getting my macbook pro (new) to print from printer.    Have USB plugged to printer and the wireless modem (no desktop setup).  Was able to intially print then it started showing printer not connected.   If I plug USB to the macbook vs. the wireless cable modem, I can print.
I do get an ip address.
    Thank you.
    CEBD

    Hi CEBD,
Thank you for your reply! As Mac OS X 10.10 was just released yesterday, there is currently no HP Software and Drivers for this Operating System! However, if your HP Officejet 6000 was previously connected to your network, all you should have to do is to add the printer as a wireless printer. Please see this guide, OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer. You can also watch this youtube video, Installing an HP Printer in Mac OS X Mavericks Using a Wired or Wireless Network Connection.
Please see this post, Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite and HP Printer Support, by @Double-U-Dee.
I would also take a look at this guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X, and follow the steps for 10.8 and 10.9.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a great day!
