Wireless printing via HP Photosmart Plus B209

Hey all,
Thanks for your help in advance. I am using an HP Photosmart Plus B209 series all in-one printer. The opperating systems in use are Windows 7 (64-bit) With my Dell laptop I am unable to use this printer as the default and print wirelessly. I can, however, print wirelessly via my Acer laptop with no problems. The error that shows up with the Dell laptop is that there is an error in the printing network. The printer is visible  though through the internet on that computer. Here is another dosey for ya. I AM able to print from the Dell laptop using the printer through the shared network with the Acer computer. This is okay however a hassel to have to have to laptops on just to print wirelessly from the Dell laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the servers from the HP web site a couple of times and nothing yet. I have also tried the various updates and no positive outcomes have occured. If anyone has any suggestions or knows exactly what I need to do that would be great!! Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Moose023

  • Connect hp photosmart plus b209 printer to verizon fios wireless router

Having trouble connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209 printer to verizon fios wireless router in order to access printer via home wireless network.  The WPS (push button) connection option is not available on the current software version of router (VERIZON M1424WR rev.1  (Mfg. ACTIONTEC)).  So, need to know how to connect via the PIN option.
Normally, to connect a wireless device (like this HP printer) to the network, the device would input the router's security pin (e.g. WEP key).  But I can't figure out how to input the router's WEP key via the printers face screen.  And, after talking to Verizon, there is no provision to enter the printer's pin within the router's control setup online.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

  • Photosmart Plus b209 - won't see networks, won't run WPS, wireless light ON

    Hello.
So I've had a Photosmart Plus b209 for the past three years. Never had a problem. Suddenly I switch my router to a Linksys e2500 and everything stops working.
I've printed network tests; my printer has no IP address, even when I revert to factory settings. Though the printout tests indicate the printer can "see" my network, I am not able to get it to detect it via the touch-screen menu. WPS also refuses to work, either prompting an error message or a time-out. The wireless light has been on this whole time.
I'm on a Mac, running OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). I'm starting to get very frustrated. What can I do?

Status of the blue wireless light on the printer, on, off blinking?  Verified you are connected to your SSID with correct password?  What is the IP of the printer?
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

  • Photosmart plus b209-a passes all diagnostics, sends files to printer- but never prints them

I have a photosmart plus b209-a set up on our wireless network.  we love it when it works.  But the problem is that even though it will pass all diagnostics- whether tools installed on the computer or using the online tests- it still won't print.  I've gone through the network utilities and the printer diagnostics and they both say all clear, but both times when I tell it to print a test page nothing comes out.
I have opened the document que when sending files to the printer, and the file will pop up for about half a second then disappear, and it won't print.  I have turned the printer on and off with no change.
Now the really confusing thing- this only happens about 60% of the time. As I write this post, I have been trying to print from my computer on the network without success.  My wife just tried on her computer, and it is printing for her.  Sometimes it's the other way around and mine will print and hers won't.  It's not an ink thing or that my computer isn't on the network- as I've said the diagnostic utility shows the printer online and ready to use, it just won't print the thing.

    good questions-
nothing between my computers and the router, they and the printer are about 15 feet from the router.
Neither computers are upgrades of vista- one is XP sp3, the other is win7 home.
All utilities ran say the signal strength is good, and both computers will sometimes print and sometimes not, then after a reboot of the printer it will be a new situation with each one- changes all the time.
Thanks for looking into this with me- I appreciate the help!

  • Photosmart Plus B209 printout doesn't match screen

I always have a problem when printing out images with my HP Photosmart Plus B209 All in One.  For instance, I make 2 in x 2 in images for passport photos.  I create the images in a digital editing program in a 2x2 size and then drop them into MS Word for printout.  On the screen, the picture size shows as 2 in x 2 in, but when I print it out, the picture is closer to 2 1/16 inches x 2 1/16 inches.  And if I print a borderless 8.5 in x 11 in and the image has a frame, often either one of the sides or the bottom of the frame is cut off some.  I have tried Scaling, Not Scaling, Fit Image to Page, Print 100%.  I also have this problem with Microsoft Publisher when printing a banner.  Although the Print Preview shows perfect alignment, when I print them out they don't quite match.  Does anyone know what I might be able to do to fix this problem?  I always do a scan and alignment when I change my cartridges and the quality of the print is great, but it just doesn't seem to print at the right size.  It's not off by much, but enough to ruin the effect of certain images.  I'd appreciate any feedback that someone can give me on this.  Thanks so much.

Page 7 of the manual only references WPA and not WPA2.  I did search the manual for mention of WPA2 and did not find any.  This indicates it does not support WPA2, so this could be an issue.  However, this typically does not prevent the printer from seeing the network but only connecting to it.
While the wireless radio is more than likely functioning, it may be best to confirm it is working since it is not seeing the SSID.  Go to setup>network> wireless network test.
Does it show anything as failed?  If so, what items are marked?

  • My iPhone 5S no longer sees my wireless printer via bluetooth

my iPhone 5S no longer sees my wireless printer via bluetooth.  All it does in Settings is continually search for devices.  I've rebooted the phone, as well as the printer.  I even sat next to the printer with no luck.  It did find the printer when I initially set it up.

Did this work for you in the past?
ios does not support bluetooth printers without extra software.
    Helper app -- /print n share

You need to buy the right printer.
The iPad uses a print technology called AirPrint. Airprint is a particular communication protocol that flows over WiFi.  So, having a WiiFi printer isn't sufficient. The printer needs to be of an Airprint variety of WiFi.

  • Photosmart Plus B209 loosing connection

I just purchased a new Photosmart Plus printer and love it except for one problem.  It seems to loose its connection with the network when it goes into sleep mode.  It is connected over the wireless network to 2 XP computers hardwired to the router and 1 Win. 7 laptop.  They all work fine until the printer goes to sleep.  If you cycle the power button on the printer everything is fine until it goes to sleep again.
    Thanks for any help
    Neal
    Thank You,
    Neal

Did you find a solution to this?
I've had this printer for a few months now and I have no complaints except for this sleeping issue.  I basically have to go downstairs, unplug it, and plug it back in to get it to work again.
I have a Linksys/Cisco wireless G router.  It is set for WPA2.  Hosts on the network use DHCP, but the printer is set with a static IP.  This setup works for a while, but eventually goes to sleep and I cannot get it to wake without doing the power cycle.  I have also set the printer to not to go into sleep mode.  No avail.
Hosts are laptops (only turned on when needed) that run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

  • Wireless Printing Problems - HP Photosmart Premium Web C309n

I hoping someone can help me with some printing issues I am currently having with my C309n.
When trying to print via my web browser (Firefox 3.5.7), the printer stalls while trying to respond, and when it does begin to print, it moves incredibly slow. I had the same problem when I first set up the machine when trying to print photos, but that issue seems to have resolved itself (I did nothing in particular; one day it just worked). I have no problem printing from programs such as Word, PowerPoint, etc.
The web printing issue still remains and I was hoping that someone could confirm that I have used the optimal wireless/set up settings before I start changing things in an attempt to solve my current problem. Also, of course, if anyone is aware of a quick fix for my printing issue, I would appreciate it.
Printer: HP Photosmart Premium Web - C309n
Computer OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional
    Anti-Virus: Norton 360 Premier
    Connection: Wireless
    Type: Automatic DHCP
    Port: 9100
Router: Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N)
    Firmware: v1.001
Settings of Router are as follows:
    - Network Mode: Mixed (a, b, g, n)
    - Security: WPA2 Personal
    - Encryption: AES
    - Radio Band/Wide Channel/Standard Channel: Auto
Also, I apologize if I provided too much info; just wanted to make sure I covered everything. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm also having slow print issues on the HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s.
The issue happens in multiple applications, such as printing a photo from HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5, printing an email from Internet Explorer 8, etc.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Service Pack 2.
Also, noteable is that it happens on 2 PCs.  Same model purchased at the same time.  The issue seems intermittant and it seems to affect my wife's PC more than mine.  It may just be that she prints more???
I did not think it was a networking issue, but both my PC and printer are wireless.  I will direct my PC and see if the issue goes away.
My wife prints all her own photos and scrapbooks.  She is extremely frustrated and wants it out of the house.  I'm going to contact HP Support tonight.  If they cannot fix it in a reasonable time, I'm going to try and return it.
It also seems to rip through XL ink cartridges faster than any HP printer we have had.
    Best regards.

  • Cannot do wireless printing to HP Photosmart C7180 since upgrading to Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I recently upgraded one of my new HP p6150t Pavillion PCs from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  Since then I have not been able to print to my networked printer, an HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One, which is wireless on my home network. When this PC was Vista, I was able to print. Two other PCs on my home network, both running XP, can access the printer across the network and print.  This PC now running Windows 7 64-bit can find the networked printer when I "Add-a-printer", and I am able to finish the installation of the printer.
I downloaded and installed new drivers for the HP C7180 from the HP website specifically for Windows 7 64-bit, so I have the latest drivers. (The version of the drivers is 13.1.0, date is 10-2009. From the same HP printer driver download site, I also installed " HP Print Software Patch When Upgrading Vista to Windows 7".
I do not want to install the printer as a shared device on any of the other PCs, but rather want to be able to print from any of them, direct wirelessly, even if the other PCs are offline.  And I was able to do this when I used Vista...
If I open and leave visible the print queue for the printer, and then print a Test Page, I see the print job briefly shown as "Spooling" and then as "Printing" in the print queue display, but nothing ever reachs the printer. There are no error messages, either during the process of Adding the Printer, or when sending Test Pages, or other print jobs to the printer.
I have McAfee antivirus and Firewall installed on all of my PCs. The Firewall advanced setting for Networks shows that the IP address range for all of my IPs are trusted.
[Although I just bought this PC from hp.com only 4 months ago, as part of a package of 2 PCs, a MediaSmart server, big hdtv monitor, and all with 4 year extended support agreements, HP provides "NO" support for network printing. That was what a support specialist called to tell me after I sent an email to the HP CEO.  HP PCs, HP printer, HP provided upgrade kit for Windows 7, but if you want to actually print from your HP PC to your HP printer, there is "NO" support.  (I worked for HP for ten years, but it is clearly a different company now.)  So, if anyone in the Community can assist, I would very much appreciate it.]

I have a year old Epson and an HP.. I upgraded to a win 7 64 bit and doing some sharing/networking.. Got some 32 bit XPand two win 7 64 bit..   The Epson ,shares and connects up  with no issues.. the HP is just a fiasco...   No more HP for me ...

  • HP Laserjet 1010 & Wireless printing via Airport USB - Not working in SL

    Hi There,
After just upgrading to Snow Leopard on my MacBook I tried printing wirelessly to my HP Printer, but no luck!
    Printer: HP Laserjet 1010
Connected via: Airport with USB cable
Snow Leopard recognises the printer and is fine to print when the printer is connected directly to the MacBook via USB cable, but:
When I set up wireless printing, it finds the printer (via Bonjour) but simply will not print. The print monitor gets to 24% or so of the file processed and then just stops & fails.
Everything was fine under 10.5 Leopard. It seems it should work, but no printing occurs! Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Paul

    I had a similar-sounding problem with my HP1012.
    The fix:
    a. power-cycled the Airport Extreme.
    b. Updated firmware.
    c. Select Print in an application.
For an extended discussion of what I did see here - some of this may help:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2142906&tstart=60
Actually, at this point I have two printers connected: Airport Extreme ->USB powered hub ->2 printers. One is the HP1012, the other is an HP 4300 series inkjet. Took sometime to get it right, the first hub I tried apparently was not powered enough. In that vein, one earlier thread (a response to one of my posts) pointed out the possibility that the AE -> printer USB connection might not be adequately powered, and to try using an intermediate hub. Assuming your AE is performing properly in all other respects, don't rule out a cable or other printer connection issue even if the setup was working properly before.

  • Extremely slow wireless printing with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I'm seeing extremely slow print speeds when printing wirelessly from a Mac or a Windows XP system to a new HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer. The printer begins printing immediately when I request a print, but it only prints one line. It will then take about 15 minutes to print the rest of the page, printing each line after a very long pause. Demo page printing doesn't exhibit this problem, only documents from programs like Word 2008, Safari and Firefox (tried firefox on PC and Mac) are affected.
If I connect to the printer through a USB connection it prints fine, so this problem appears to be with wireless printing only.
    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
Computer: Mac mini (Late 2009 model) (also tried a Windows XP laptop as a comparison, using latest drivers from HP's website)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all available updates installed
Computer connection method: Wired Ethernet connection to wireless router
Printer drivers: version 2.2.1 (Apple supplied, HP drivers never installed as system shipped with 10.6)
Wireless router: Apple TimeCapsule (Early 2009) 1TB, running in a/n and b/g modes on 2.4 and 5GHz. TimeCapsule is in bridging mode as the DSL modem handles DHCP service
Encryption: WPA2 Personal, no MAC filtering or hiding of the SSID.
IP addressing scheme: All addresses are handed out by DHCP server with no reservations of any kind
The TimeCapsule is sitting three inches from the printer and the printer indicates full signal. Connection of the printer to the wireless network and setup of the printer on the Mac went without a hitch. Only when printing a test document did we discover the problem. The wireless network is behaving as expected when accessing the Internet from both Mac and Windows devices (tested with a Dell laptop running XP and a MacBook running OS X 10.6.2), so I don't see any overall problems with the wireless network.
    Attempted remedies:
    1. Rebooting and powering off, waiting, powering on computer
    2. Resetting the print subsystem, turning the printer off and on again and reinstalling the printer
    3. Unplugging power from the printer and letting it sit for several minutes before trying to print wirelessly.
    None of these worked.
    This question was solved.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the DSL modem HW.  There might be an issue with how print data is being routed though.
Please try the second experiment where you blank-out the default gateway and DNS entries from the printer's internal web configuration page.  Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.  This is important.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.  This is important.
    Press Apply.
Turn off the DSL modem, the printer and all computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds then turn on the DSL modem and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computers.  See if this corrects the printing speed.

  • Photosmart Plus B209 - Photo Black Ink Question

Hi I just brought the Photosmart Plus and notice that there are 2 types of black for this printer and only one slot on the printhead for the black ink.  I am still using the starter black that came with the printer.  So my question is if I want to print a photo, do I just switch the regular black out with the photo black and switch it back when finished printing the photo? or Should I finish the starter black first then switch to photo black. TIA!!
