Wireless products

OK BEAR WITH ME I AM A COMPUTER DUMMY.  WITH MY TYPE OF HI SPEED INTERNET FIOS 15/5 CAN I USE A WIRELESS PRINTER COPIER SCANNER AND FAX?  A HI SPEED ANSWER WOULD BE AWESOME.
THANKS  GINA MARIE

Keeping what Anti-Phish has said already, I will add that there a several reports of difficulties with wireless printer setups (Brother being one of the most often mentioned) having difficulty connecting.   So you may want to search the brand you're thinking of buying to see if there are any reports of connectivity issues.
Technically, there shouldn't be any issue ... the technology is all standards based ... but a few printers seem to have issues.

I have an existing new belkin modem router which works fine with quiet a few wired and wireless products in my house. My question is if i buy a time capsule can i put it in another room and wirelessly connect it to the belkin modem router, I would then just like my macbook pro and (imac future purchase) to wirelessly back up to it???????????

Your will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the TIme Capsule to clear out the current network settings and then reconfigure it to "join" your wireless network using the AirPort Utility setup application.
To perform the Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule....
Pull the power cord from the back of the device
    Wait a few moments
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule and keep holding it an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
    On your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Continue
Follow the guided setup and choose the "join" option when it appears duriing the setup
You will need to know the exact type of wireless security that the Belkin router is using to enter this information during the setup of the Belkin. Otherwise, the Time Capsule cannot join the network, and you will receive an error message after the configuration process.

  • Interoperability of cisco wireless products?

I've been doing a lot of research on various Cisco wireless products and the options are kind of confusing.
I'll start with my deployment; I have two locations both of which have a manufacturing and warehouse environments (no climate control) and regular offices.
Location 1 needs 3 APs on the production floor and 1 in the offices.
Location 2 needs 5 APs on the warehouse floor and 4 for the offices.
I was thinking about using the Cisco 521 APs for both the production floor and offices and the Cisco 526 Wireless Controller for Location 1.  I figure that will give them room for expansion and keep the costs low.
For location 2 I was thinking about the Aironet 1240AG APs for the warehouse floor, Aironet 1140AG APs for the offices and then a Cisco 2112 Wireless Controller to manage all the APs.
Both locations require WPA (or WPA2) encryption and roaming.
    My questions are:
Will the 521 APs work with the 2112 controller?  For that matter, what sort of interoperability is there with the APs and controllers?  Can I manage any Cisco AP with any Cisco Controller?
Are there any cheaper APs than the 1140AG that will work with the 2112 controller?
Is the 1240AG a good choice for a non-climate controlled warehouse environment?  The APs are going to be mounted on the ceiling which is roughly 50 feet high and I'm going to be very upset if I deploy these APs and then have one fail during the summer 6 months later because it wasn't made for volatile environments.
The 521 APs are only going to be about 15 feet up so they can be accessed with a ladder so I'm not so worried about them.
    Thanks!

Will the 521 APs work with the 2112 controller?
    No.
Are there any cheaper APs than the 1140AG that will work with the 2112 controller?
You could try the 1130.  1140 supports 802.11n while 1130 is a/b/g only.
Is the 1240AG a good choice for a non-climate controlled warehouse environment?
The 1240, like the 1130, supports a/b/g only while the 1250 supports a/b/g/n.  The newer 1260 is controller-based only.  The 1240, 1250 and 1260 use external antennae that's an OPTION.

  • Does anyone have current Visio stencils for the newer wireless products?

Does anyone have the latest Visio stencils for Cisco's wireless products?  Specifically looking for 3502 and 1260 series access points and the 5508 series controllers.
    Thanks in advance!

Cisco does not seem to have an official stencil for the 5508.  However I found this link and it seems to have 5508 stencils:

  • "Phone off-hook" HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless, Product CB023A

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer/fax/copier all in one.
The message "phone off-hook" appears on my display.
I ran the Fax Test and received a PASS for all results.
A few minutes later, a message appeared on the printer/fax display: "Turn power off, then on again". I did so.
This message, "Turn power off, then on again" continues to repeat and after I turn power off then on, the "phone off-hook" displays again. It is an endless loop of receiving these two messages.
    I also did the following:
    1. Unplugged the telephone fax line from LINE of the Officejet Pro.
    2. Unplugged the power cord to the printer.
    3. Replugged the power cord to the printer.
    4. Powered up the printer
    5. After powering up, the message, "phone off-hook" reappears.
    I ran the fax test
    Run Fax Test:
    1. select Tools from HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless display panel.
    2. Select Run Fax Test
    Results:
    Fax Hardware Test ........................................................ PASS
Fax Connected to Active Telephone Wall Jack ......... PASS
Phone Cord Connected to Correct Port on Fax ........ PASS
Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax ............. PASS
    Dial Tone Detection ....................................................... PASS
Fax Line Condition Test ................................................ PASS
    3. The message still appears.
My printer description is as follows:
    - Model No. : A909G (look inside of the ink access door); Regulatory Model No. : SNPRC-0703-02
    - Product No. : CB023A
    - Serial No. CN0737R2DH
Is the printer defective? What should I do to correct this problem?
    Thanks,
    ArtLaw

    Hello ArtLaw,
If you have followed all the troubleshooting steps outlined in this troubleshooting article then the only other solution is to have the printer serviced as it may be a printer hardware issue.

  • Complete Frustration with these wireless products

    The problems are -
Most of the time the type of security detected by the WPN111/windows in my PC is incorrect, it detects the opposite of whatever I have set in the Extreme, and when I try to change it in windows it just defaults back to the opposite setting.
So If I have WEP in the extreme, windows wpn111 detects wpa-psk and when I change that to wpa-psk in the extreme, windows then says it's wep!!
Of course yesterday when I had the extreme working for a spell, that wasn't an issue, this just came about after trying to setup the express.
When I disable security the network connects and works fine...as soon as I enable security I have all these problems.
When I read the manual that came with the setup utility it's like it's written for a different version of hardware. It talks about specific settings in the extreme utility that aren't there!
Should I set 'distribute IP addresses' or not?...the fact that it connects with security disabled should indicate that I have the IP's set OK?>.....I disabled auto detect IP's in windows and entered them manually that was the only way I could get that to work.
Should I set windows to handle my network or do it through netgear?
None of this is explained in the documentation.
    This is a nightmare.
I've setup 3 other wireless networks and nothing took longer than a couple hrs.
if anyone can help with his before I throw in the towel, great!
    Thanks
    Rooze

Well I just have to vent.
After two complete wasted days messing with the
Extreme and Express, trying to replace a Netgear
Rangemax system, I'm about to give up.
I actually had the Extreme working for an hour, after
spending an entire day with it, then when I tried to
add the Express to extend the network, it stopped
working and I can't get it going again.
I'm using Windows PC with XP SP2 and I planned to buy
an iBook.....I just can't see myself giving another
    $2000 to this company.
You won't have to. You can't buy an iBook anymore

Yes, the WPN111 is a piece of crap. It is is well known that Netgear components such as the WPN111 work with Netgear routers, but forget it to get them to work with any of their competitors routers.
    This is a nightmare.
Yes. That should be xpected. Get a reasonably priced PCMCIA card from other than Netgear or better yet get Vista It is supposed to work with your WPN111.

  • 802.11i Supported by Cisco Wireless Products?

    Hello all,
Got a customer looking to install a wireless network however does not wish to do this unless the units support 802.11i.
Are there any routers/cards that support this that I can recommend?
    Thanks,
    Leon

There is no Cisco hardward supports 802.11i yet. There is a plan for Cisco to provide 802.11i. I am told not to disclose any future new hardward and new feature information. You need to talk to the local Cisco account team.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 wireless Product CDs

I have tried several times to download the full feature sotware.  it downloads and when I run the software it just stops doing anything after it extracts.  I have been to the temps folder and tried running the setup.exe direct from there.  No joy.  I have run all the diagnostics suggested by HP.  Still now joy.  I have been at this for three weeks now.  I was just thinking maybe the software would install from a CD/DVD, I tried the original that came with the printer, but this will not load onto a windows 8.1 setup
I remembered that you used to be able to order them from the site.  However, it appears you can't now.  Any idea how I can get hold of the full feature software for the Officejet Pro 8500.  My next option is to drop kick the whole thing onto the tip.

    Hi
I'd like to help you install the software. The issue is not the downloaded version, so we can work on resolving the issue at its root cause and then install the software from the download.
Please open this link and follow the instructions as suggested by Gemini02 > Click here - installing printer software for my printer in windows 8.1
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, thanks.

  • HT4275 Batteries with wireless products aren't compatible

So the batteries that came with my Magic Mouse aren't compatible with the Apple charger I bought at the same time? Who thought that was a good idea?

    Hello:
How did you determine that the batteries were "not compatible?"
Rechargeable AA batteries are generic.  Any charger that takes them will recharge them.

  • Wireless USB Device not recognized by Mac OSX

Help! I just bought a Hawking Technology Wireless-G USB Adapter. I followed the directions carefully and installed the software from the CD, then I inserted the adapter into the USB port on my Mac, and... nothing happened! According to the directions, a window was supposed to pop up after going to (System Preferences --> Network) saying that another device has been recognized. It's like my USB ports have been disabled or something. Unfortunately, I don't have any other Mac-compatible computer stuff that plugs into USB ports, so I don't know if the problem is my computer or if the problem is the Wireless adapter. What can I do?

Wow... Mac OS X 10.3 technically is not even supported on that old PowerBook, if it's a "Powerbook G3 Series" (aka Wallstreet).
Actually, it's strange that it is called a +Powerbook G3 Series+ because that model only went up to 300 MHz speed. Does it have a built-in USB port?
My guess for why it doesn't work is because that wireless product may need to have USB 2.0 ports. If your PowerBook as USB ports built-in, they are USB 1.1 ports.

  • Re: Mac OS 10.6 user. New HP P1102w. Cannot get the wireless feature to work. Prints via usb ok

sorry to resurrect this issue, but I have reinstalled all drivers and updated firmware, but cannot connect wirelessly.  The set up is fine, but the bonjour version of the printer only lasts 1 second before going away.  I have had this product for a while and struggled when I first got it with this issue.  Finally i just accepted the fact that I bought a wireless product that needed to be hard wired.  Guess i should have saved some money or bought from a different company.  Now my 2 year old is mulling around and I need to wirelessly connect my printer in a location he cannot reach.
Please help me with this problem or I will be forced to PC Load Letter this printer.

  • The best way to connect wireless and wired for a WRT160N.

It took me about 4 hours to find out how to connect wireless and wired to a network using model WRT160N.  Here is what I have done.  First install the CD when it says there is not connection connect your PC, Modem and router Andy any wireless are wired products, after that do what the linksys advisor tells your which is default.  When it gives you the security key write it down because you will need it for your wireless and wired Products.  Under security mode  type your SDD name and where key 1 is type your security password with was given to you.   Remember all you wireless products have to have the same SDD Like Linsys and all your wired products have to have a different name like Linsys2 but your Key 1 numbers has to stay the same.  That is all you have to do.  Remember that wireless and wired has to be in sequence.  That should do it.

    Hi David Hamilton1;
I guess that all depends on how critical your data is in relation to how much time you want to spend doing the erasure. Those higher level erasure options can take a significant amount of time to complete. Personally I don't have anything on my Mac that I think is worth more time then a simple erasure even if that does leave it some what recoverable. To me it seems some people are going overboard on this issue.

Is any place in Cisco that I can use to see Architecture recomendations that integrete Wireless, Radio (Microwave) and Voice over IP com-plete system?

using one of the 802.1x types (i.e. LEAP, EAP-FAST, PEAP) with WPAv2 (AES encryption). Too bad that there are not many wireless adapters support AES.
All Cisco wireless product support AES in 12.3(2)JA recently.
Also, you may want to configure WDS for radio management.
