Wireless router w/ four computers. Three wireless with 2XP and 1Vista, and one with wired XP

I have a home network that is encrypted. On this network I have four computers.
I have three computers that are set up on wireless.  One is running Windows Vista and the other two are running XP.
The last computer on the network is wired and is running XP.
Very frequently, my network on linksys adviser tells me that I have installed a new router. I definitely did nothing of the sort so why does it do this?
I have to shut down and resart both the router (I turn it off and on and unplug it for about 20 seconds and then turn it back on) and the computer when this happens and then after that, it suddenly works fine.
I noticed today that I turned on the wired computer, connected to the internet on the regular encrypted network , then I tried to connect to the network on the wireless computer as well. On the wireless one, the network was not even detected, the name of the network wasn't even there anymore.
So, I did the same thing I usually do by restarting both computers, unplugging the router, plugging it back in and trying to connect again but this time it still kept saying that I installed a new router and then even the first computer that I HAD been connected to didn't connect this time.
Why did it just "drop" my network connection and make it go away? How is this possible? I am the only one on ALL of these computers and I did NOT change to a new router or do anything to it at all other than turn it on and try to go to the internet.
The network is not even listed as being on my computer anymore .
Please help.
Thank you.

Well do you get this error message after running Linksys Advisor, or without it. If you are running the Linksys Advisor, then first of all I don’t understand why you are running this software. It is meant for configuring the router and every time you run it, it’s a new router for this software. If you are not running it then there’s an issue, as this is a tool that can be used to configure the router and not an application that can be kept running all the time. Let me know exactly when you are getting this message, along with the modem no. About your network, you need to reconfigure this router again and setup all the connections with new settings.

Hello Francinette Pestana. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Have you already checked with your Virgin ADSL ISP on, whether or not, they can provide you with an Ethernet modem or combination modem/router? This would be the most straightforward path to a solution.

  • Issues hooking a WRT350N Wireless Router to a SE587 Siemen Wireless modem

I'm having an issue with my newly both WRT350N wireless router. I had my internet hooked up today, with no problems. Rather than sending a typical modem (which might be the entire cause of the issue), they sent me a SE587 Wireless Gateway Siemen Modem. Basically i get through almost the entire installation cd for the setup of the router, when it tells me theres no internet connection, and asks me to retry while unplugging and re-plugging the modem. To no success has this resolved my issue. But here's the thing. When i hook the modem to my PC, im instanly connected, no problem there. When I hook the cables to the Router, the four solid lights come on. (Power, ETHERNET (1,2,3,4), Internet, and Wireless. So i know that the internet is there, and its getting to the router, but the connection is not making it to the PC, where i find myself with limited connectivity. Now some Telus representative was spewing that i can't have the same IP addresses on the modem and router. Fine. Now I attempted to get the internet connection through DHCP, Static IP, PPoE. And the same problem persists. For my modem the info is as follows: IPv4: 192.168.1.100 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: 192.168.1.254 When i set the settings for my router through static IP, i put the info as follows: IP address: 192.168.1.102 subnet: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: 192.168.1.254 And i'm still in the same position. What am i doing wrong?

The siemens modems that I've encountered usually have a 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. You will need to disconnect it from the router and change the router's address to a different range (ie 192.168.2.1).
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • How do I wirelessly connect my Windows computers to my HP Officejet Pro8600e-All-in-One PrinterN911?

I have been through the entire Troubleshooting assistance guide and nothing helped. You can restore the older one with the backup from the newer phone if both phones are running the same iOS version.

  • Just bought a new iPod Nano.  Still have a working older version of same.  I'd like to synch the new one to my entire library and the old one with less memory to a subset of that library.  How can I accomplish this?

Not sure if my question should be here or above.  So I'll repeat it.
I have a new Nano and an old one.  Would like to synch new one to all songs and audible books in my iTunes Library.  Would like to synch the old one for just audible books.
    How can I do this?

    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:

    Thanks,

  • Three different current inputs on AIO-610 - one with external PS, two without

On our AIO 610 module, we'd like to use a few different current inputs
from pyrometers.  One of the pyrometers requires an external power
supply, while the other one does not (there are two different outputs
from this one).  When we wire them up, we get an out-of-range
error on one of the inputs (one without external PS).  The manual
says they are not electrically isolated.
I'm assuming we're out of luck on this one.  Is that correct?

    Hi,
The AIO 610 can only accept current inputs in a +/- 20 mA range. So if your pyrometer is supplying more than 20 mA, then you will receive that out of range error. I would double check what range of current this pyrometer is outputting and then you will be able to see if it's within the specification for the FieldPoint module. If the current is over 20mA, then you have the option of putting in external circuitry, such as a current divider to make the current within specifications. It would probably be a good idea to check with the manufacturer of the pyrometer as well.
    Regards,
    Hal L.

  • How do I move all my settings from my old computer with Vista to a New one with Windows 7 ? I'm using V. 14.0.1 on both Systems

    Hello All,
How do I move all my Settings & Bookmarks from my 5 year old Computer running Vista and Firefox V. 14.0.1 , to my New Computer with Windows 7 and also Firefox 14.0.1 ?
    Thank you very much.

You can copy your Firefox profile from one computer to the other and continue working with almost no changes :)
[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
A really easy way to do this is the following:
#Click the Start button, type %APPDATA% into the search bar, press Enter (on your old PC)
#Right click on the Mozilla folder, copy to a thumb drive (or something you can use to transfer it to your new PC)
#Go to %APPDATA% the same way on your new computer
#If the Mozilla folder already exists, I'd either delete it or rename it
#Paste the Mozilla folder into the same place on your new PC
    #then upgrade to Firefox 15
You can also use Firefox Sync. [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]]

  • 10.4.11 Install with two users working but one with a blue screen

On installation of 10.4.11 two of the users are working just fine but one give only a blue screen. My next thought is to try going back to 10.4 and doing an archive and install. Any other thoughts? Thanks.

If either good user account is an admin user, log into it, delete the bad user account, saving user data (that creates a /Users/Disabled Users/disk image), recreate the account, using the same username/password account, log into it, mount the disk image, and merge the data.

  • THIS IS THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE BLUESCREEN (AND NOT THE ONE WITH SPACES!!!!))

    1. Reboot into single-user mode (hold Cmd-S while booting machine)
    2. Follow the directions OSX gives you when you get to the prompt (I think these were them - just type the two commands it tells you to):
    fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    3. Remove the following files:
    rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/ApplicationEnhancer.prefpane
    rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/ApplicationEnhancer.framework
    rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ApplicationEnhancer.bundle
    rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.unsanity.ape.plist
    4. Exit, to continue booting normally
    exit
so thats all but be sure to type ApplicationEnhancer
    instead of Application Enhancer...etc

  • Trying to connect with a  Belkin G f5d7230-4 wireless router

    Hi,
I just bought a Belkin wireless router to connect my new macbook pro to the internet, and I tried running the easy install wizard that comes with the CD provided in the Belkin box. The ''wizard'' seems to be able to locate my internet connection, however it is not able to establish the good parameters in order to continue to the next installation step which is ''connect hardware''. This is the mesage that I get : the new set was not created. It doesn't say why it's not working ... and I didn't even get to the part where I connect my router.
I even called Belkin ... and they told me that my ethernet card must be disable on my computer, because they couldn't see why it wasn't working...and I really doubt this could be true. They told me to call apple care !
I am normally using a DSL modem to connect to the internet.
    Please Help!
did anybody experienced that kind of problem before ? or do I really need to use that ''wizard easy install'' thing ??
    Thanks.

I have multiple PCs, an iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook, and a Mac Pro. All can use the Airport Extreme and Airport Express to connect to the LAN and the Internet, etc. I also have an old Linksys WAP (54G) that they can all connect to. All are set for WPA2. All three are fed through a 24-port Netgear managed switch that supports the LAN. A link goes to a Netgear FVS318 wired VPN router that connects to the actual DSL router. The switch has two Gigabit ports that support my Mac Pro and the PC "mothership". Airport in the Mac Pro has no issues. I have set the AEs up similar to the Linksys (bridge) and gone through the whole gamut of configurations. If you aren't interested in spending a bundle to replace your existing, a simple Airport Express out one of your wired ports will work. Use the DHCP of the Belkin, don't turn on DHCP in the AE, making it a bridge. You can still use the iTunes functionality and send them to the audio out on the AExpress. It is a pretty cool little device. But, if you want some heavy hardware, the Extreme N works great, save for the lack of a Gigabit Ethernet port for the Mac Pro. The Express is the cheapest way out of your dilemma. Or, a Linksys 54G (used) WAP. Netgears work pretty well also, but the lower priced unit of any manufacturer seem to have some issues.

  • USB Wireless Router. Anyone tried with 3G?

I'm not talking about a USB Wireless (or Wi-Fi) adapter. I'm talking about a USB Wireless Router like Synet's Windy31 USB Wireless Router ( http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-9904137-1.html ).
This will connect to a Window PC's USB port and create a wireless network by sharing the computer's internet connection. This sounds like it will be really useful when I'm travelling with just my iPhone and not a laptop. I can plug this USB Wireless Router into a friend/family member's PC or laptop and share their internet connection via Wi-Fi.
Anyone used this particular product or know of any others? This Windy31 has had mixed reviews.

You may try to reflash the firmware manually using the file from the site. That is done by downloading firmware file and doing the upgrade through the setup page. • Qwest DSL with 2Wire 2700 wireless router

    Hi there,
I've read the forums regarding DSL service using the 2Wire 2700HG, and I'm still having a problem with no solution.
I have an iMac G4 1GHz with Mac OS 10.4.7 and an airport extreme card installed. It will not see the wireless router (2Wire 2700HG). I have turned off network encryption, and it is broadcasting the SSID, but my mac still won't see the network. When I manually attempt to join the network, it tells me that there is an error.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi all. Thanks for you suggestions. I can place a PC laptop in the same location as my iMac G4, and it has no problem connecting to the network, so I don't think it is an interference issue. I also am not trying to extend an existing airport network with this 2wire device, it is the sole access point, and I'm simply trying to connect to it for internet access. I have not had a wireless network prior to this one, so this would be the first wireless network my iMac is attempting to connect to. Any other suggestions out there? Thanks so much in advance.
