Wireless Speaker Set Up

Hello,
Recently I purchased a new Laptop (Dell Precision 6700). Prior to this I was using a custom built Shuttle box, which connected to my Logitech x-540 Speakers easily. Now I'd like to connect my speakers either directly or wirelessly to my laptop.
The x-540 speakers have a three cable connection and all the adapters I have come across do not have enough ports... Is there a way to connect my speakers to my laptop?
Many Thanks!

Hello. Dell has some laptops that support 5.1 surround speakers but the Precision M6700 model is not one of them. It has a 2 channel (stereo) audio system and as such can support stereo speakers or a 2.1 speaker system.
To achieve 2.1 sound, plug the green plug from the Logitech speakers into the headphone jack of the laptop. Do not use the black or orange plugs. You will not hear sound from the rear speakers unless you activate Matrix mode (a button on the remote control).

There is no adapter cable  that can convert 2 channels of audio into 5.1 channels. However you can get a usb sound card that supports 5.1 audio, like this Sound Blaster card.

As the speakers do not have wireless technology built into them I don't know how you could make that work without buying a several other pieces of gear.

  • Sony SA-NS 410 wireless speaker set-up

Can´t find a way to set up my Sony SA-NS410 wireless speaker to my Apple Airport express Wi-Fi network. Running iMac OS X 10.8.2. Has anyone else succeeded? The Sony manual is useless!

Happy to see that it works for you. I found this site (http://www.sony-asia.com/support/faq/506229), followed it very carefully, step by step but still it´s not working. Of course I tried over and over again. Is this the same procedure you used?
Manual setup using an Access Point Scan:
NOTE: Write down the Wireless network Name (SSID) and the Security Key (WEP or WPA) prior to following these steps.
Connect the AC adaptor to the speaker.
Connect the speaker to the computer.
Select Sony_Wireless_Audio_Setup from the network list.
    NOTES:
    - If using a Apple Mac OS, click the network icon on the top of the desktop screen.
    - If using a Windows OS, click the network icon on the Start bar.
Access the Sony network Device Setting screen.
    - If using a Apple Mac OS, start the Safari® Web browser, and select Bonjour under Bookmarks . Then select the speaker.
    - If using a Windows OS, start an Internet browser and enter http://192.168.100.1 in the address field.
Select the desired language from the Language Setup screen.
    Select network Settings.
Select the appropriate SSID and enter the Security Key .
    Select Apply .
    Select OK .
Reconnect the computer to your network.

  • I'm after a Wireless Speaker Device - looking for advice!

I've got an Apple TV with all my music on and i'd like to purchase something which, well, i dont know if such a thing exists (sure it does)
I'd like to be able to choose and play music from my ATV wirelessly - so, some kind of speaker set which will also let me scan through the albums / songs and pick to play.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

The problem here is that AppleTv is not a music server - it can stream audio to Airtunes devices (other AppleTV's, Airport Express), but it can't share it's content with other devices.
While it would be nice I don't think there's a device that'll fit the bill currently.
Just occurred to me that seeing as we have Remote app for iphone it would be great if iPhone/iTouch could actually be a playback device for itunes and control it at the same time.
Who knows with the impending tablet device what that might offer.
You presumably don't want another AppleTv AND a display connected to speakers.
    Controlling is the tricky thing.
You could consider B&W zeppelin with an iPodTouch docked to give pretty good quality selectable music.

They sound very good, but I have no luck with electronic devices and mine has developed a 'system error' after about 18 months and won't work. Local hi-fi store says there's a dodgy capacitor in one part of the board that fails, but can be fixed....

    Hi Kylie,
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

  • How do I pair an iphone 4 with sony wireless speaker?

How do I pair an iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2, with a bluetooth device.  The phone will not pair with a Sony wireless speaker nor a basis peak fitness tracker.
I have reset the network, turned the phone off and on and still no bluetooth connection.  The bluetooth emblem is at the top of the phone screen. I do not know if the phone has ever been paired with a bluetooth device.

I found my problem.  The speaker was paired with a different iPhone.  I discontinued that pairing and tried to pair it with my iPhone 4 and it works perfectly.
    Thank you for your input.

  • Can Apple TV produce sound output on a wireless speaker and a cable-connected speaker simultaneously?

    My situation is this:
I have a one bedroom apartment.  In the main room, I have a Bose Soundlink (via bluetooth, which may be my first problem!!!).  I just got an Apple TV (3) and want to connect it to the TV in my bedroom.  I was considering getting some not-too-expensive speakers to improve upon my TV sound.  One goal of this would be to be able to access my iTunes music and play the same thing in both rooms.
I gather that Apple TV is no good at hosting two or more wireless speaker signals, but I'm hopeful it can manage a wireless and a direct cable input??? Does the TV need to be on to facilitate this or can it just go directly through the Apple TV?  And what use, if any, woudl the optical audio output do for me in this situation?
Thanks for any and all answers!

    Paul
You said the Optical to the home theatre doesn't work, do you mean it had the same sound issue or that the OA to Home Theatre didn't produce any sound?  If the latter then first check the cable is working (red light on the tip once the other end is in the ATV).
Sorry I am not addressing the main question of poor sound as others will know that better, but the OA issue might be solvable and improve your listening, unless of course you have rented The Artist

  • HT5479 My brand new ipod nano is no longer connedting to my brand new jbl wireless speaker. It worked fine the first day and now either cannot find the apeaker or the connection "fails."  Any advice?

I bought my dad a new ipod nano and a jbl wireless speaker from the same apple store. Everything worked perfectly with the bluetooth connectivity the first day. Then my dad accidentally hit the "forget this device" button when he was trying to turn the bluetooth off. Now the nano either does not recognize the device or it will recognize the device but not connect. I would appreciate any advice.

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • How do I send audio from my analog mixer to my wireless speaker?

Ok, really hope someone can help.
I have just purchased a wireless airplay speaker  (audio pro) and have it working fine with my iPhone and iPad.
I have a music room with my decks, mixer and speakers etc up the stairs and want to be able to stream my music from there to my new wireless speaker.
I was told I could do this with an Airport express, so purchased but can't get the music to play. Have I been miss sold this or can it work it this way?
    Decks to mixer
Mixer speaker out using two 3.5mm jacks to a single jack connected to airport express
    Airport express connected to router
I can get the Airport Express to show on my iPhone, but no music through my speaker. I now have two wireless networks, AirOne Airplay and Airport Express.
How do I connect the airport express to my AirOne Airplay network?
Hope this makes sense but any help would be greatly appreciated.

...looks like PC World have told me a lot of rubbish.
    Maybe not.
AirPlay is a networking protocol that runs over TCP/IP on either a wired or wireless network. At least three things are required, as minimum, to stream using AirPlay:
An AirPlay "server." Typically this would be iTunes. However you can stream from other sources using third-party solutions, like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.
A network. AirPlay can stream over both wired or wireless networks ... and this network would need to be in-place for the stream to reach the "speaker."
An AirPlay "speaker." Of course, Apple provides these by ways of either the AirPort Express or the Apple TV. However, a number of other manufacturers now provide "AirPlay-Ready" devices as well. Your Audio Pro Air One speaker is an example of one of these.
Do you know of anything that let's you do this, streams from a non airplay system to an airplay wireless speaker?
In addition to being AirPlay-Ready, your Air One is also DLNA-compliant. DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is an alternative solution to AirPlay. So, in this case, this would be the means to stream from non-AirPlay sources to your Air One.
Finally, your Air One has two audio input ports: 1) A digital optical, and 2) An analog line in. You should potentially be able to connect your mixer directly to one of these ports ... bypassing both AirPlay & DLNA.

  • ITunes 10.7 unknown error -1500 when connect to wireless speaker. OS X 10.75  Any thoughts?

iTunes 10.7 unknown error -1500 when connect to wireless speaker. OS X 10.75  Any thoughts?

For reasons unknown I found copies of many of these tracks as 256 kbps .m4a files in my Trash. As such I was able to remove the existing 128 kbps .m4p (Purchased) files (but not deleting them from iCloud), add the 256 kbps .m4a files to iTunes and then Add to iCloud whereupon, the original 128 kbps listings with the download from iCloud link switched to 256 kbps (Purchased) files. For a few of the files I accidentally deleted the 128 kbps (Purchased) from iCloud and when I added the .m4a to iCloud they appeared as 256 kbps (Matched) songs instead. Not sure why the difference, but it worked for several of these problematic files. But I still don't understand why/where these .m4a versions came from as most of these purchased predated iTunes Plus (e.g., my original purchases were 128 kbps). My new list of recalcitrant files is:
    Anna Nalick: Breathe (iTunes SOTW)
    Coldplay: Parachutes (tracks 4 + 5)
Dave Matthews Band: Stand Up (tracks 3-6, 11, 12)
    Feis: One Evening (iTunes SOTW)
Future Leaders…: Let Me Out (iTunes SOTW)
    Hinder: Get Stoned (iTunes SOTW)
Living Things: Ahead of the Lions (iTunes SOTW)
    Low Millions: Eleanor (iTunes SOTW)
Spymob: Sitting Around Keeping Score (iTunes SOTW)
As you can see, most of these are iTunes single of the week (SOTW) offerings, so I'm not too bothered about them.

I have two Airport Expresses running at my house. Both are connected to different types of speakers. Neither speaker set has its own equalizer, and both require a different EQ setting to sound just right. Does anyone know of a way to have iTunes automatically change its EQ setting based on which Airport Express it is streaming to?

I'm in the same boat. I have a 6 zone amplifier running with 6 airport expresses to different rooms inside and outside the house. Each has it's own acoustic characteristics. I'd really love to be able to set each airport to equalize based on my SPL frequency sweep I did for each room.
Setting the eq in itunes won't do it as that is global plus I have many more sources for auiod other than itunes that use the AEs directly.

  • Live!Surround speaker setting not showing in surround mixer for SB Live Platinum

the Li've!Surround option for speaker settings in not showing in my Surround Mixer
    i have:
    Windows 2000 sp4
    SB Li've! Platinum 5.
    ASUS CUSL2
    Sound Blaster Li've! - Li'veDrvUni-Pack (English) SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US 28-Feb-03
Installed the speaker preset for li've!surround but the only headphone, 2 speaker, 4 speaker, and 5. speaker shows up on speaker configuration of the Surround Mixer
i've played the AC3 files on the cdrom and Dolby pro logic surround, I get sound from all fi've speakers on my Denon D-850 w/ Dolby surround pro-logic
I can't use the surround mixer to test all the speakers, only front left and right speakers work on the test, i have to open to wav files directly to test the center speaker, the rear speaker test doesn't work from the wav file
My Denon system only has analog stereo inputs, so this is my only option for letting Sound Blaster know I have 5 speakers.
I've uninstalled all SB Li've software and drivers from the unipack, and reinstalled the orignal drivers and apps from the CD-ROM SBP5-CDSD-W-US MID : 32680 5-Sep-2000 and the Li've!Surround speaker setting reappears in the Surround Mixer.
Is the Li've!Surround setting no longer available in the new Surround Mixer in Li'veDrvUni-Pack (English) SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US 28-Feb-03 ?

    so I found this post...
    http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...7?dmode=source
it seems Li've Surround is no longer supported in the new drivers
....so what would be the best setting to play ac3 files or DVD's through my receiver with only 2 analog inputs (left and right) available w/ Dolby surround prologic. Should I set it to 2 speaker or 4 speaker setting in the Surround Mixer in order to send the best signal to the prologic decoder on my receiver with 5 speakers (2 front, center, 2 rear)

    Hi,
Depending on brand and model of the 5.1 speakers. The machine only has the following list of ports:
Multi-format digital media card reader for MMC and SD cards
    1 VGA
    1 HDMI
    1 headphone-out
    1 microphone-in
    1 USB 2.0
    2 USB 3.0
    1 RJ45
That means you only have 1 port for speaker. The best option is to buy an USB sound card.
    Regards.

  • How can I ask Siri to turn on my Bluetooth device wireless speaker?

I want to ask Siri to turn on my Bluetooth wireless speaker device.  But all she will do is turn on Bluetooth.  She won't ask for a device.

I don't think Siri support for auto Bluetooth is official yet. It sort works in mine, a Fiat 500, but I have to use the home button on my iPhone to enable Siri, the voice command button on my steering wheel doesn't do it. I would say keep checking the Siri/iPhone page on apple.com for info on when auto kits will be supported.
