    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are having some connection issues with your HP Officejet 8620 running on Windows 7. I am sorry for the frustration, but happy to help!
I would recommend going through these two guides:
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues.
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.

  • Wireless-g router?

My router is working fine in every way but causes loud static on the telephone lines. Any suggestions for eliminating this problem?

I assume that you are getting your high speed internet through a DSL or ADSL modem, connected to your phone line.
If so, make sure that your DSL line filters are properly installed on ALL the phone lines that you are using.  Make certain that the modem is connected correctly to the phone line.
Normally a properly functioning router should not do this.  What router are you using?  Why do you think that the problem is from the router?   Have you tried connecting your computer directly to the modem (turn off the router) -- do you still have the problem?   Does the problem occur when wireless computers are connected to the router?  Does the problem occur when only wired computers are connected to the router?
Also, some phone lines, particularly in rural areas, use wireless transmission to avoid the cost of long cables.  Do you have any "wireless phone lines" near you, or is your phone system completely done with wires, as is common in most cities?

  • Unified/Documented problems with Creative WOW Wireless/wired headsets

This thread is to properly present the problems encountered with the WOW Wireless/wired headsets. I will be linking this post to the facebook page as well as World of Warcraft's facebook and Blizzards facebook if I can find one. Also Lucas Arts and THX. Lets see if we can get some eyes on this and move forward. If you frequent a popular site where others are discussing this please bring this thread to light there also.
If it continues unrespondid to my next step will be to notify consumerist.com.
Please note I am to date not having these issues but they seem to be common enough of an issue. (I suspect we may be able to find our own solution also.)
When posting Please follow the below template.
    Problem Description:
A non superlative description of your problem. Please just the facts here so we can all be very clear. Include any software tested with such as Ventrillo or WOW or games used that exhibited the problem.
    Problem Impact:
Here is where we want to share how this makes you Feel. Describe the negative impact to your leisure or professional time with this product.
    System:
Make/Model: (IE homegrown or Dell Optiplex xxxxx)
OS: (Operating System. Please include 64bit or 32 Bit.)
Processor: (i7920 or C2d6600 or whatever you have.)

Harddrives: (How many drives. What speed if you have them.)
Case: (what is the case? Normally I wouldn't ask but we are talking about Wireless transmission Who knows if that could matter right?)
Environment: (Where is the Wireless Dongle. About how far are you from it. Is something between you and the dongle normally? if so what is it? Do you plug it into the back usb port of your system behind a military grade metal desk from the 40's? That could matter.)
    Troubleshooting:
This is where we describe in as much detail as you can what was done. Lets keep this to facts and try and remove feelings from this portion.
I can only hope with this information I or others can come up with a good solution for us all. Or Creative labs and their associated partners involved on this headset can drive this to a resonable conclusion for us all.
I do want to remind everyone here that we are in a new consumer technology area. There WILL be problems. Creative labs had to know this. Blizzard had to know this. And THX/Lucas Arts had to know this. How this problem is handled will impact all three of these organizations. To what extent is yet to be seen.

    Problem Description:
Voice randomly becomes unintelligible and extremely distorted (think 70's robotic, accept you can't understand it) while in Ventrillo. My brother and I both have the same model headphones and we BOTH have this problem.
    Problem Impact:
I feel cheated out of $119.00 + tax. The main reason for these headphones is for raids and they do not perform the task they were designed for. My guildmates have to be tired of telling me and my brother " Dude your headphones screwed up again." I have sent tickets in and the solutions provided were lame. Reinstall software... mute the microphone? Seriously? All of which did nothing. By the 3rd Email I got nothing at all. Newegg has tons of complaints about this on their site and creative reponded to 1 complaint that was not about this issue, but skipped all with this problem which tells me they do not want to deal with it. I have been a LONG time customer and supporter of creative. This is making me reconsider. If I can't find a solution soon I will return them.
    System:
    System:
    Make Model: Homebuilt
    OS: Windows Vista 64 bit
    Processor: Core 2 duo E8400
Memory: 8 gigs of Corsair Dominator 1600 mhz
    Video Card: 2 x GeForce GTX 260
    Motherboard: XFX 3-way SLI Motherboard
Hard Drives 2 300 gig Western digitals 7200rpm
    Case:Thermaltake Cosmos S
    Enviroment: Wired WOW headset
    Troubleshooting:
So far the only make shift solution I have found to temporarily fix the problem is to disconnect and reconnect Ventrillo. The problem will definately happen again but buys a little time between distortion. The only firmaware I have found is for the wireless headset not the wired. The auto update feature says all software is current.

  • Actiontec MI424WR dropping wireless connection intermittently; wired connection works

I've had this router for about two years, with no issues.
Beginning on Saturday, our two laptops and phones began losing their connection to our wireless network, dropping the signal every 30 seconds or so.  I tested the wired connection by plugging the laptops directly into the router, and both computers functioned properly - no issues connecting or staying connected.  I have my Roku hard-wired to the router, and that also has had no issue, so it'd definitely a problem with the wireless signal to my devices.
Spoke to a CS rep, who had me first check the internet signal (green, blinking sporadically, which I was told indicated no issue with the connection), then had me reset the router and unplug.  No dice. She said the internet signal seemed fine, and that "everything looked good on her end", whatever that means.  They're sending a new router which I'll receive today or tomorrow, but I have trepidation.
Has anyone else had this issue?  I saw alot of router issues on the forums, but wasn't sure if everyone was having this specific problem (just wireless connect issues).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This turns out to be good advice. I changed the channel on my router settings to 11 (per an earlier post on a different thread), and I haven't had an issue since. Here's the original post: "01-21-2011 11:32 AM that type of problem doesn't sound like a router issue, but instead sounds like a wireless transmission issue. you may be able to resolve that fairly easily.. Try to change the wireless signal. you can do that in the router. open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1, user name is admin. and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it. Once you login successfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security. then go to option 3 which is channel 1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try. So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply., after you hit apply, test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6, test it out. and then finally 1 if the first two don't work."

  • DLink Wireless Router Options

Hi folks. Question about DLink routers I've had for some time.
I have a DLink 624 Wireless Router. It offers me 3 options for the wireless connection to my Macs. I have Airport Extreme cards in all of them, and I want to optimize my connection speeds. I'm having trouble connecting using WPA2, but the recent firmware upgrade by DLink said they fixed that. I've had some success with my new MacBook, but she's not working at the moment.
So...I've tried the following and they don't seem to want to work:
Super G with Dynamic Turbo: Doesn't work
Super G without Turbo: Doesn't work
    Disabled: Works (more below)
Using MenuMeters (third party application, allows me to view network throughput), I can see I can get 1.6 MB/s incoming from my G5 to my MacBook. For 54 Mbps (Airport Extreme) this is pretty slow. Now, the G5 is going to the router via Ethernet (Gigabit, or Fast Ethernet), so the only wireless transmission is (essentially) from the DLink to my MacBook.
Now I know I have had faster speeds out of this router. Anybody have any ideas what I can do to speed this up?
    Cheers

    Hi Frangelica,
To upgrade the firmware of the DLink, you don't need to open the file... I can't believe DLink support couldn't tell you that!
Here is how to do it:
You have rev D, and mine is rev C so maybe the navigation pane is different.
Login the router at 192.168.0.1 in your browser.
Go to the Tools tab, then click on Firmware.
You should see a Browse button that will let you locate the Firmware upgrade file you downloaded. Click on it and navigate to the file. Then click Apply.
Do not upgrade while using a wireless connection. If the connection is dropped while upgrading, it could mess your router for good.
You can check the full instructions for firmware upgrade on DLink website here:
    http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=966&question=General-Routers
Maybe this firmware upgrade will solve your dropped connections and download speed issues. I don't use revD, but my revC started to have problems AFTER the upgrade and I had to downgrade to the one I was using before. From now on, if I don't have anything to fix, I won't upgrade! If your problem is worse after the upgrade and you have trouble reverting to an older firmware, post back and I'll give you a hand.
    Good luck!

  • Interruption of Wireless Connection while phone use

I have been experiencing interruptions of wireless connection to my notebooks when we use a 2.4GHz wires phone.
I called the Verizon customer service about this problem, and they guided me through the changes of band channels.
As the service staff told me that the channel 11 is the best channel, we still have the same issue even though the signal
seemed to get stronger before in normal use.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Or should I change the Verizon wireless router?

    xhitman88x wrote:
If it is possible, change the channel of your cordless phone to 1 and wireless router to 11. If the phone doesn't give you this option, I would simply purchase a new phone. Do not go for the 5.8ghz phones because they will transmit 2.4ghz frequencies from phone to base and still interfere. A DECT 6.0 (1.9 ghz) phone is the new type of phones. They are crystal clear and do not interfere with Wireless B/G technology.
    HUH??? Whacha talkin about Willis?
5.8 Ghz phones transmit at 5.8 Ghz, not 2.4. Hence the 5.8Ghz. The only wireless transmission is from the handset to the base and that is the frequency that the phone is rated for. There is no other transmission on the system.
Edit:.  Ok, I did some research and found that SOME 5.8 phones transmit 5.8 from the base to the handset and then 2.4 from the handset to the base. However, Most do not. The ones that do this is to save on battery life of the handset. Most transmit on the 5.8 both directions, but there are some that do use the 2.4 on the return. So you do have to look at the phone before you purchase to see which it is.
As for the problem the thread started on. You've got the reason, the phone and internet work on the same frequency. The channel changes can help but are not a solution. You may find a channel that reduces the drop offs and many people do find that this is an acceptable work around, some even reduce it to the point of it not being an issue anymore. BUT the underlying problem is still there. Every device responds differently to the interference problem. The ONLY solution is to change the phone to one that works on a different frequency. Since the wireless internet cannot change frequencies, changing the phone is the only solution. The other options are all workarounds and bandaids. If your lucky they may help, but if your like me, your not that lucky.

  • Wireless Compact RIO Data Transfer

I need to configure a remote wireless automotive environment data acquisition device to monitor voltage, temperature, and accelerometers. A Compact RIO system looks like it would satisfy the the DAQ requirements.
What would be the cleanest way to enable wireless transmission of data to a web site or computer while the vehicle is out driving around. The wireless device would need to be powered by automotive DC power.

This sounds like a very interesting application! You should definitely be able to wirelessly send and receive data from an in-vehicle cRIO, but there may be a bit of programming involved depending on the communication method.
The simplest way to communicate would be over wireless ethernet, provided that you have wireless network coverage during your data acquisition. Since the cRIO is specifically designed to communicate back to a host over ethernet, this should be the least amount of work on your part.
I would encourage you to browse the forums (ni.com/forums) for other communication ideas as well. We have had customers write applications that communicate through cell phones, radio, etc as well. Using one of these communication methods should be possible, but may require more work on your part to send device-specific commands in order to transfer your data.
The cRIO can definitely be powered off of a DC source. You will require a DC supply between 11-30V (refer to your specific cRIO controller specifications to double check). Power consumption will vary depending on your controller and modules in the cRIO chassis.
Would you like me to have someone give you a call and provide more information about our cRIO systems and the various I/O modules that you can use?
    I hope this helps!

  • Bridging VS turning off existing wireless

First off I'm still trying to figure all this out. I do not understand most of the "lingo" thrown around this forum. So with that said...I've read several places that if I have a current wireless/modem router combo (see below) ya just have to set-up to "bridge" the TC. Correct? But is the TC then handling the wireless transmission or is the current wireless still being used? I obviously don't know what bridge means or does.
Or should I just turn off the current wireless being handled by the Verizon router/modem? Any advise is appreciated.
Current hardware is the Verizon supplied Actiontec GT704WG

If you have a modem/router already setup and you want to add a Time Capsule, you would use the AirPort Utility application to configure the Time Capsule. The Connection Sharing setting for the TC would be set to "Off(Bridge Mode)" in this case. You would connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on your Verizon to the WAN port on your TC.
The reason for this is that you can only have one router in charge of IP addresses (known as DHCP) on the network. If you place another router behind the first modem/router, the second must be set up in Bridge Mode to allow the first to remain in charge of DHCP. Bridge mode simply means that the TC is receiving its network instructions from the other router. Otherwise, IP address conflicts will prevent proper operation on your network.
If you configure the TC to "create a wireless network", then it will do so. If your Verizon is also creating a wireless network, you will have two wireless networks. You could choose to turn one off if you wanted to, or use one network for slower devices and the other for faster devices.

  • Upgrade a wireless b router

    hi
i want to upgrade my wireless b router to a wireless G or wireless N, given the same internet connection (DSL), will the computer's perceived connection speed be faster?
    2nd question:
will a wireless G router plus range expander, or a single wireless N router have the larger range? I want to place the new router in a office building, meaning I would need the router's signal to go through several (8 or 9) walls throughout the first floor of the building.
    thanks

    1)  This really depends on your DSL Internet connection speed.  For example, if you have a 1.5 Mbps Internet connection, you will probably not notice any difference in your wireless Intenet speed whether you use a wireless b, g or n router.
However, if you have a 20 Mbps Internet connection, then you will probably find that wireless n works best.  Wireless b would usually be limited to about 3 to 5 Mbps.  Most wireless g can't do over 8 to 10 Mbps in a home environment.
    2)  It's hard to say what will work in any given environment.  Wireless g typically has a range of 30 to 100 feet.  A range expander might increase your range by 50%, however, it also reduces your transmission speed in half  (This is because a wireless range expander must divide its 54 Mbps bandwidth in two - half to receive and half to re-transmit).  Wireless n typically has a range of 50 to 300 feet, when used with a wireless n adapter in the computer.  When a wireless n router is used with a wireless g adapter in the computer, the range reverts to wireless g range of 30 to 100 feet.
To cover large areas, many users find it best to add one or more WAPs (wireless access points) to their network.  A WAP will need to be wired to your main router, however, it will provide the same wireless transmission speed as the router.

  • Issues with WiFi connection to Deskjet 3545

    Hi,
I have number of issues with WiFi connection to my new Deskjet 3545 AIO:
    1. Printer is not able to get IP address automatically from home WiFi router (all other devices get IP with no problem). Using WPS allow printer to register in network but after switching off, WPS setting is not stored, so I have to do it again. This I was able to solve with manual entering of IP address, netwrok mask, DNS and gateway address.
    2. Official HP software installed from HP site was able to find printer for 3dattempt, and it started to work. But after a while, "HP utility" program loose connection to printer,  so I can not see any parameters, and I get "can not find printerä message when start to to print. After a some time (minutes to hours), whithout any action from my side, connection to printer seems to be restored, so I can see printer parameters in "HP utility" and printing is started.
    3.  Official HP software installed from HP site on PC (Windows 7) is not able to find printer on WiFi at all, works only with USB.
All this is disaponinting and unexpected, as my office HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color works perfect.

Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
