  • Initial Wireless Troubleshooting

    Hi Folks
How we start initial Troubleshooting Wireless related  issues,we have WCS/WLC 4400 along with LWAPP?
    thanks
    Ibrahim

do you want to troubleshoot connectin between WLC to AP (i.e. AP join problem) or
    client connectivity issue?
In general, you should use debug mac addr to limit the debug. Then, run debug capwap packet or debug client to troubleshoot AP join or client association problem.

  • Photosmart D110a Wireless Troubleshooting with D-Link DIR-655 and Mac OSX 10.8

    Good evening all,
Apologizes if this has already been posted. I've googled this issue a couple of times, but I still haven't found a solution for this problem.
I have the Photosmart D110a and I'm running Mac OSX Mountain Lion, and my router is a D-Link DIR-655 and my security is WPA-Personal and the router is running in 802.11gn mode. My ISP is Optimum Online.
The issue that I've been having is that the printer works wireless when everything has been recently booted up. As does the scanner. However, if it hasnt been used for a while, the printer shows up in the OSX Print & Scan settings page as idle, but when I try to print, the dialog just says "looking for printer" and never finds it, and just says "The printer is not connected" under the item in the OSX Print Queue. Because of this, I have to restart the computer or restart the printer for them to find each other again.
I've seen other solutions on here, such as giving the printer a static IP address, and this hasn't worked either. The printer is still accessible with the static IP address, which means it's still got a connection to my network, but for some reason the OS isn't recognizing it or something.
It's obvious that the printer works when everything is freshly rebooted, but I still haven't been able to figure out this issue once it's been idle for a while.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi,
Try following my post below, I believe it might be relevant as the router drops the Bonjour connection:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/losing-connection-to-airprint-a-few-min...
I would also suggest updating your router's firmware and check if that may help:

For any help with this proccess I would highly recommend contacting Dlink support.

  • Wireless Troubleshooting Questions

We have a Cisco 4400 WLC with about 70 Cisco AIR-1131AG-A-K9 access points.  The controller runs and the access points run 4.1.171.0 code.
We work in a hospital enviroment and nurses from one of our floors (3N) are complaining about poor/low signal when they enter a patient room with a mobile/nursing cart.  They say that the low signal strength really slows them/their medical applications (Meditech POM) and they are forced to move to a computer with an Ethernet connection to work.  They are then forced to basically communicate with the patient by yelling or move back in forth between the wired computer and the patient room.  The mobile/nursing carts are just specialized mobile workstations with a dell laptop and a battery backup.
The native Windows XP wireless management bit says that in one particular problem area we get about two bars and are connected at 11 mpbs.  I can set my dell laptop ontop of the mobile cart and while I more-or-less get the same signal strength my connection speed is faster.  We found that we were both connected to the same AP, but the slower device connected over the 802.11g and the faster device connected over 802.11a.
I also know that each 802.11a radio only had between 1-3 clients associated with them, while our 802.11g radios each had between 3-8 clients associated with them.  We do not allow 802.11b, so I am not sure how to explain the difference in speed.  My guess is that it is due to the number of clients associated with the 802.11a radio vs the 802.11g radio, or am I am totally off?
I think our biggest problem is the low signal strength in the patient rooms.  I unfortnately, did not document the RSSI in that room or even conduct any type of performance tests.  I think we spent too much time trying to blame the issue on some type of interference or rouge AP, but that didn't return anything.  We did have two of the three access points show that they failed the interference profile, but that seemed to have been transient.  What types of things should I do to determine if the signal strength is at fault or it is just the scape goat, futher more the only means of addressing the poort/low signal that I know of is by increasing the power level on the access points.  they are currently set to 1.  How much would you increase the signal to begin with?
I added a AP placement map.  I indicated the location from which we tested with a blue dot.  Please let me know if I need to add or clarify anything.  Thank you all for any assistance or suggestions you can offer.

  • What is your Troubleshooting Process?

PowerDesigner crashes.  Where do you look first to diagnose the issue?
Or, there is a repository insert error, and the model is not checked in.  The error message says something like
unique constraint (schema.PMTEXT_TXID) violated.  How do you find the object that is in violation in order to fix it?  Is there a model of the repository that may show relationships among tables in order to point to a path to repair?  Or a script to check the model check in and provide a more robust description of the problem?
How do you troubleshoot PowerDesigner issues?
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Thank you for the response Rafal.  I looked at this log, and there was no inidication in it that PD had crashed at all.  The logged items seemed rather immaterial and cryptic.  e.g.
    4/14/2015 6:14:40 PM: Closing <> ...
    4/14/2015 6:14:40 PM: Closing <> DONE.
    4/14/2015 6:14:40 PM: Closing <> ...
    4/14/2015 6:14:40 PM: Closing <> DONE.

    4/14/2015 6:14:40 PM: Closing <<Static Objects> (::StaticObjects)> DONE.
There are other entries indicating I opened and/or closed a model, but that doesn't tell me about the crash.  So I wondered if there was someplace else I should look?  Or do you see value in this log that I'm missing?

  • C4580 wireless troubleshoot

    My current network setup:
    1x LINKSYS WRT310N wireless N router
1x vista 32 bit connected to router via ethernet
1x xp pro laptop connected to router via ethernet
1x vista 32 bit laptop connected via wi fi
1x vista 32 bit laptop conencted via wi fi
    Situation:
On first run of installation, went smoothy with the two computers connected to the router via ethernet. Could successfully print wirelessly. However, on first attempt of installation on one of the wireless laptop, problems occured. At first, it could not automatically find the printer (the 2nd etherneted laptop could) through installation, I then had to manually enter the printer's IP. (At this point, i would like to point out that I had a COMODO firewall running at the same time of installation, but the firewall was set on installation mode. ) Things then we normal until installation appeared to have finish, however, my printer suddenly lost connection with my wireless laptop. I then checked the the previous etherneted computer, and both had lost connection with the printer as well. Twiddling with manual IP input did not help and i decided that during installation on the wireless laptop, it must of messed up the printer's settings. So I then uninstalled software off of all machine.
On second uninstallation, things turned for the worst. On my etherneted PC, i encounted an error code "100 VSA" after the input of WEP kep for my network. I then chose to proceed with installation anyways. The result was that USB printing works, however, as soon as i unplug the USB, the printer loses connection with my etherneted PC. I also attempted to reinstall on my wireless laptop, but i then encountered an fatal error, something along the lines of "stub -wXXX" ( i cannot remenber exactly)
    Attempted fixes:
restore to default network settings, and then reinstalling software
    enabled/disabled MAC filtering on router
    power resetted
    resseted all network devices
    Help would be greatley appreciated!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

First, let's restore your network configuration to a known state:
Turn off MAC filtering on the WRT310N.
Turn off any static IP address you may have set in the WRT310N.
I think you are using WEP to secure your network.  If so, what is the length of the key?  Does it contain only number and the letter A through F?
    Power cycle the C4580.
Wait a minute and print the network configuration page from the C4580 and tell me the IP address.
Verify that you can browse the internet from all computers.
If the printer's IP address is of the form 192.168, then it may be on the network.  Tell me if you can access the printer's internal web page from your computers.

  • Troubleshooting File Sharing Thru Network

So I'm working at a small (6 people) office, where we are all connected through an Airport base station to the main iMac G4. Someone set up this network years ago and nobody knows how to get ahold of this guy, and somehow I ended up being the default IT person, because I know the most about computers (which is not saying much, believe you me). Anyway, all files are stored on the iMac, so whenever anybody wants to work on a file they mount the iMac (Finder-Go-Connect to Server, then browse and connect), then they go into the iMac's folders and open up the file they want (usually just Word docs) and start working.
The trouble is, when we're working on a document through the iMac, we get constant spinning balls and frequently get disconnected from the network. What are we doing wrong? Is it the wireless connection?
I'm sorry if this has been covered - I have been searching the discussions for hours and I haven't found this problem yet. Thanks!
    Details:
iMacG4 is main server, running OS X 10.2.9
Other computers connected to the Airport network are iBooks, Powerbooks, and another iMac, running various versions of OS X.
    Internet connection is through broadband
All laptops are connected to the network wirelessly.
    Thanks

There are many reasons this could be happening, among them:
    - poor wireless connection, caused by radiofrequency interference from neighboring wireless networks and 2.4GHz portable phones
    - heavy wireless network usage from six work stations all connecting wirelessly
    - a slow iMac being called upon to function as a network file server
First step in the troubleshooting process - figure out whether or not this problem is indeed being caused by the wireless network connection. Try cabling one of the client Macs via cabled ethernet to the iMac "server" and see if the symptoms you describe go away.

    Hello the_Tobman,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to troubleshoot performace issues with AirPlay between your devices, please follow the steps below.
Resolve performance issues with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your iOS device, Apple TV or AirPort Express.
    Try these suggestions:
Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your iOS device and Apple TV.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
If you are using iTunes, please see these troubleshooting guidelines.

  • C7280 All-in-One connected wirelessly to a modem-router needs a password when powered-up.

Do you have any examples of wirelessly connecting an HP Photosmart C7280-All-in-One to a network run by a NetComm NB6Plus4W modem-router? The modem-router also attaches a Windows XP desktop computer using an ethernet cable and a Windows XP laptop computer wirelessly using the default SSID (wireless) and password (a1b2c3d4e5).
The wireless connection between the modem-router and the laptop comes up automatically when the modem-router and laptop are powered-up.
The wireless connection between the modem-router and the HP Photosmart does not establish automatically. When I power-up the HP Photosmart I then have to use the setup button on the Photosmart and manually type in to the Photosmart the password (a1b2c3d4e5). The SSID displays as wireless, it does not have to be retyped.
Do you know if there is any NetComm or HP configuration which will cause automatic setup of the HP Photosmart to occur when it is powered-up?
What I am complaining about is having to manually type in the HP's password to the HP whenever the HP is powered-up.

  • Wireless keyboard suddenly stopped working - changed batteries still did not help

    Hi
I have an Envy 20 all in one touchscreen with a wireless keyboard which has been absolutley fantastic until now.  The wireless keyboard suddenly stopped working while composing an email.  I replaced the batteries and checked them with a volt meter to ensure 1.5v. They are a name brand alkiline battery.  I tried re-booting the computer and pressing the blue connect button under the keyboard.  The only keys that seem to work are the volume up/down and mute; the rest of teh keyboard does not.  Any idea?  I like the factory keyboard so I am hoping it is not a faulty keyboard.  After market keyboards will use a USB port.
    Thanks

  • Macbook Pro won't wake up usb wireless mouse after sleep

When my MBP (early 2011) with ML 10.8.2 wakes from sleep, my wireless usb mouse doesn't work. I have to unplug an plug again the usb receiver. I would appreciate some help, please...
    thanks in advance.

    Indeed blackburntw,
It is all down to the Hall Effects switch, used not just on MBPs , but on PBs before them.
The problem is particularly obvious if you put an MBP13 down on top of one of the plastic MBs, though, as you will see in various threads here. Gives you the Dickens of a scare, in fact, until you move the computer, as , as long as you leave it there, no troubleshooting process will resolve it!
You'll be glad to know that Google and Apple are both already on top of the matter, though. Apple released a KB item about the matter back in 2009. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2917
(Sorry blackburntw, I couldn't resist. It really is a very weird experience when you first run into it, I agree. When it happened to me I was fortunate enough to have been reading the KB updates in the previous week. Otherwise I might have been sitting there wondering what the matter was until my wife wanted to use her MB that I'd plonked my MBP down on top of so that I could snaffle her charger for a while! It is certainly worth posting a reminder about every once in a while.)
    Cheers

  • Can't Connect OfficeJet 7410 to new wireless network - used to work on old one

Hi, I'm on a Mac OS.  I just upgraded my wireless network to use an airport extreme.  I have a verizon fios router - same as I had when it used to connect.  The only change was adding the airport extreme.  Now, the officejet 7410 all-in-one will not connect to the wireless connect.  It SEES the name of the network, and asks me for a WEP Key, which it didn't used to do.  It used to ask me for the network password.  I found the WEP key on the router and it acts like it is trying to connect but takes a long time and then gives me an error.  One time it never gave me an error and seemed like it had worked, but was not connected.  It just gave up.
My configuration page indicates offline with no active connection and wireless status disconnected.
I restarted everything with no change.  I don't know why it would be asking me for a WEP key this time and then not accept it but that was the first indication that something was different when it didn't ask me for the network password.
Also, as a separate issue but related.  In trying to fix this, I deleted my drivers to reinstall and see if I started over that it would work.  That created another problem in that now it seems that HP no longer supports a driver for this printer.  Is that even possible?  It's not that old.  It says it does not exist on the software update.  Please help!

    Hi YSJA,
I'm sorry to hear you've had problems accessing your Officejet 7410 since adding the AirPort Extreme to your home network.
I have included a link to HP's Wireless Printing Center troubleshooting section. It has section, "Was anything changed or updated on your router recently?" that has detailed steps to help you resolve the issue.
