Wireless wont turn back on

My laptop ( cq60-430ca ) has a wireless kill switch that is either blue or red next to the power button,
i was getting wireless before, and the light kept switching between the colours whenever i was using the internet,
i was curious as to whether or not the kill switch still worked ( did not in ubuntu )
i pressed it and it turned the wireless off, but the problem is that it wont turn back on now,
i rebooted and went into the bios, and saw that in my boot options that "Network" had a "!" infront of it, meaning that it could not boot up from the network, so i saw where it was disabled in the bios and turned it back on,
i booted back into Arch and saw that i still could not find any wireless networks, even though i am still in my home,
i am using wicd ( currently connected through lan )
this is the output of ifconfig -a:
[root@ArchTop Desktop]# ifconfig -a

this is the output of iwlist wlan0 scan:
[root@ArchTop Desktop]# iwlist wlan0 scan

i did tried this:
[root@ArchTop Desktop]# ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132
i found this:http://sachachua.com/wp/2010/02/fixing- … ee-1008ha/
but i get command not found for rfkill
any ideas what i can do to get wireless working again?
( p.s. i dont use root, but i was tired of constantly using sudo and entering my password over and over, that i just su root for these commands )

well i got rfkill and followed the steps as root, but wicd still does not show any wireless networks even though i am in one

  • Wifi turns off when connected to mobile card, but wont turn back on

I have a Sprint wireless internet card.  When I connect to the mobile card, the Wifi radio turns off.  I'm fine with it turning off while I'm connected to the mobile card, but the problem is that it wont turn back on when I disconnect the mobile card.  If I try to use the button or other basic on/off switches in windows to turn it on, they wont respond.  The only way I can get it back on is to run a troubleshoot, which shows that the radio is disabled and asks if I want to apply the fix that will turn it back on.
    I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170, Windows 7 (64), in the U.S.
    Thank you.

    Hi
So does this also happen if you dont connect the notebook to external monitor? So you can determine what is causing this problem.
If the notebook doesnt shut down without external monitor you should try to update the BIOS and display driver. Both updates you can find on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Do you close the lid if you have connected the external monitor?
    What OS are you using?
Furthermore it would be interesting to know how you cleaned the notebook. Therefore I use compressed air spray that can blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators and you must not disassemble the notebook.
    Bye

& it keeps trying to turn on but it wont . like the apple logo pops up for a minute , then turns off.

Had exact same problem. Rang Apple support and various apple repairers. All of them said in effect, too bad, you'll have to lose everything since your last backup. It's a work phone with very important stuff on it and the latest backup was on a computer that had a virus. Convergence of crap :/
Happened to talk to a friend who said to try replacing the battery. Did that. Problem fixed. All data saved.
To all Apple support people: rather than say 'once it's in recovery mode you lose all data' try saying 'replace your battery and see if that works first'!!!!

  • My ipod 5 shut off and it wont turn back on. people say to hold down home and lock button but my home button is broken, what do i do

My IPod 5 shut down and wont turn back on. people say to hold down home and lock button but my home button doesn't work. what do I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1351 my ipod keeps on freezing and now it wont turn back on even if i try charging it what do i do?

Hello I have a ipod nano 5th Gen and it keeps on freezing and powering off and I tried resetting it and charging it but it wont turn back on what do I do?

    Hello firebird1986,
I would be concerned too if my iPod was unresponsive and powering off too.  I found a resource that I think would help in a situation like this.
I recommend following the steps in this troubleshooting assistant:
iPod nano (5th generation) Troubleshooting Assistant

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • My ipod 5 has a broken power button And wont turn back on Help!

My ipod 5 has a broke poer button and was dead. I tried plugging it in to my computer and it charged normally now it wont turn back on and the computer says that its 100% charged how can i turn it bacl on without the power button? HElP!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

i was texting and locked my phone and now it wont turn back on and i tried charching it and everything.. any other ideas?

Try reseting. You may lose everything on phone though
    To reset
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
'Home Button' is the Black depression in the Iphone that you can press
'Sleep/Wake Button' is the black raised area at the top of the Iphone

  • IPhone 5 screen wont turn back on after making a call.

When I put my phone to my ear, the screen turns black, like it should, but once I'm done, it wont turn back on... It does the same thing with siri. I active the raise to speak option and the screen turns black when I do it. I then have to press the sleep button two times to get to my lock screen. Is this an hardware or a software problem? If it is software, can an upcoming update fix it?

I don't beleive this is a known problem and you should probably bring your phone to a local Genius Bar (make an appointment here) as this is likely a hardware issue (a problem with your phone realizing that you removed it from your ear).
If you're willing to tinker with it a bit, you can determine if this is a software issue by backing up your iPhone (separately ensure your photos, videos and music is backed up) and then "Restore" your phone. If the restoration solves the problem, you're dealing with a software issue. If the problem still exists, you're almost definitely dealing with a hardware issue.

  • My macbook that wont turn back on after I open the lid

Well my macbook is very fast and works great, *+when it turns back on+.* I leave it on most of the time and close it, plugged into a power cord, when i am done using it. I am not putting it to sleep or turning it off, just closing the lid. When I open the lid, it sometimes turns back on, and most of the time doesn't. The little light on the outside turns off when I open it, and when I close it, it turns on. I will push the power button, that doesn't do anything.
I will take the battery out and unplug it from the wall, put the battery back in and all, and it still wont turn back on. After I play with it for a few minutes, it will either turn back on, go to a grey screen with a grey progress bar, or pretend like I turned it on by going to the grey screen with the apple logo and the little spinning circle at the bottom. I have done disk utilities, any kind of utility i could think up, but it still does this. I was running tiger when it started happening.
I tried repartitioning the hard drive, backing everything up and reinstalling osx. still a problem. i recently upgraded to leopard. still a problem. I have no idea whats going on because it is not consistant. it will randomly do this. I have even sent it to apple and it wasnt fixed.

It sounds like it's hardware-related. Note the exact time the events occur, and then check your system logs in your Console application for clues to the cause.
    Try resetting your SMC.
Resetting the System Management Controller >>
If that does not work, you may need to get it looked at.
