Wiring to the COM terminal in a cFP DO-401 module

Is it necessary to wire anything to the COM terminal in a cFP DO-401 output module. I'm using the board to trigger various 24VDC outputs. All of the loads have their common terminal wired to the power supply commong outside of the Fieldpoint Device. I've wired the +24VDC to the V and Vsup terminals. Do I need to wire the COM terminal for the module to function properly? All I need the module to do is to connect the output terminal to the Vsup terminal.

As long as you are certain that you are tying the loads to the same common of the power supply that is powering the modules (as opposed to tying to some other power supply by mistake), you can tie the loads to the common of the power supply. If you tied them to the common terminals of the module, they would all go back to the common side of the power supply anyway because there the Com terminals of the module are a direction connection to the power supply common coming into the module.
The way to be sure is, with the power off, check the resistance between the various Com terminals. You should find they are minimal resistance.
Also, if your loads are inductive, such as coils for a relay, don't forget to put diodes across the coils of the relays.

CFP-DO-401 fuses and flyback diodes

I'm using a cFP-DO-401 to control 24V valve solenoids.
On
page 4 of the cFP-DO-401 manual it says to fuse the outputs with 1.5A
fast acting fuses, which makes sense. But, rather than put an in-line
fuse on each of the 16 wires, does anyone know of a fuse block or
module that will plug in between the cFP-CB-1 module and the cFP
backplane?
Also, on page 8 of the manual, it shows that
the cFP-DO-401 has flyback diodes in it, but then it says NI recommends
using external ones. Why are external ones needed if the cFP-DO-401
already has them?

Mosey,
I have never seen any kind of module that installed between the backplane and the cFP-CB-1 module. Can't imagine why NI would ever support such a device. I like to use DIN rail mount fuse holders for this.
NI has included internal diodes to protect the cFP-DO-401 module inputs. A flyback diode needs to be installed as close as physically possible to the coil of a relay to provide the best protection and noise suppression.

CFP-DO-401 outputs and effective resistance

Using cFP-2120 controller and Labview 8.2 with cFP-DO-401 module.
After set up with MAX, using Digital Output.vi from examples directory.
The VI works fine with changing states ON/OFF.
The green state indicator lights on the module illuminate when on and go out when off.
Using 24Vdc supply.
According to the manual, we should receive 23.85V differential between V(SUP) and V(OUT).
Receiving 0V differential.
According to the manual, there should be a an effective resistance between V(OUT) and V(SUP) of 0.3 Ohms when in the ON state. We receive 2-3MOhms (open) effective resistance in both ON and OFF states.
Has anyone seen this?

Did you make connection between an external supply and cFP-DO-401? This module has optical isolation built in. That means that an external supply has to be used to power the module outputs. The LED's you are seeing are on the controller side of the isolation and are powered by the controller.

How do I fix the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'

Help!
I have a 3rd party application that used to work perfectly until this morning. The problem is not do to an update of that program nor of updating the Mac OS. This came out of the blue. When I try to open the application, it won't open and I get the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'
I looked around the forum and read it might be because of a bad font? But I don't find detailed instructions on how to delete or fix the corrupted font.
I have tried deleting the application, then downloading a new copy and installing that - same problem.
Please don't respond with I should go call the programmer of the 3rd party application. If you know where the problem is in my MacBook Air, please help me fix it.

SQL2012: Internal Error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully. The connection timeout was exceeded. Server: The operation has been cancelled

When rendering a SSRS native mode report based on a query to SSAS the report with fail with the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot read the next data row for the dataset. (rsErrorReadingNextDataRow). The connection either timed out or was lost. Unable to read data from the transport connection:
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Putting a trace on the SSAS instance, I get an error:
Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully. The connection timeout was exceeded. Server: The operation has been cancelled.
I've modified the IIS (6) application pool timeouts, the SSRS rsreportserver.config timeouts, and the SSAS timeouts. Restarted services, rebooted, and still I get this error.
The report will render if I select a shorter time period (less data, shorter query time).
Running SQL2012 (11.0.5058.0), SSAS and SSRS on separate servers, same subnet.
Any help or suggested troubleshooting greatly appreciated.

We are usning forms and reports 11g in weblogic . while running the reports from forms
frequently getting the error The report terminated with error: REP-501: The specified database cannot be connected..
Can anyboby help me to solve this problem

REP-501 typically means that Oracle Reports are unable to locate any available Oracle Databases. By default, Oracle Reports (similar to Oracle Forms) will only look for available databases in tnsnames.ora. Not only that, but the Reports environment by default will always look for the tnsnames.ora file in %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config ($ORACLE_INSTANCE/config in Unix). I have seen these scenarios happen before especially if the TNS_ADMIN variable for your Forms environment variables is a directory different from %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config. This would be the first place I would look.
If tnsnames.ora is located in %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config, do all generated reports fail with this message or a select amount of them? If only a select amount of them, are there any similarities with these reports (e.g, size, parameters, etc.)?

Multiple use of the Indicator terminal

I've developed a working calculator in LabView and for each of the mathematical operations on the two number control terminals, the result gets displayed on the separate indicator terminal for that particular operation. I've a final indicator terminal that is visible on the front panel, and it should show the result of the operation from the individual indicator terminals, if any of them has a true value. But the final indicator terminal doesn't work. I would like to know how can a result be displayed on the final indicator terminal for any of the operations being true. I've tried to build an array of each of the individual indicator terminals and I search the array for any indicator having a valid result and try to show it on the main indicator terminal, but it doesn't work. Kindly help me out.

I looked over your calculator vi and can see there are many issues.
1. Your while loop doesn't loop more than once because you have the "=" button wired to the "Run while True" terminator; you need to change the terminator to "Stop when True".
2. Your function button text, which is the button's "Label", "covers up" a lot of the button space, you have to click a corner of the button to operate it. Use the button "Caption" property to display the text, do not show the label.
3. You are trying to use the array search function to determine which function generated a non-zero result. The array search gives you the index into the array with your desired result, not the result itself. Even if you fix this, what happens if the result of the calculation is zero? It won't be found; even though the indicator will show zero, you may want a better way to determine which calculation was used.
4. Some of your calculations, like the trig functions, are made in both the True and False case check on the function button, these functions always generate a value and cause the array search to return the wrong index.
5. You may want to change the button mechanical actions to something like "latched when pressed" instead of "switch when pressed", then the vi will start with the buttons "off"; running this vi to test it requires you revert the buttons to default values before running again.
You could simplify this vi by using the event structure in the while loop to perform the selected calculation when one of the function buttons switches to True. You could update a shift register in the while loop with the value from the most recent calculation. There are several options here, I'm not sure what functionality you really need and want - do you need a separate display for every type of calculation? Waht do you really want displayed in the main indicator before the "=" key is pressed?

Is the Early Termination Fee extended too?

Verizon usually has a 14-day return policy and a 14-day period for terminating service without an Early Termination Fee. But I see that Verizon has extended their return policy right now - according to http://www.verizonwireless.com/ReturnPolicy.shtml, it says:
"Purchases made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2012."
Does that mean the 14 day period for the Early Termination Fee got extended too? What if you bought an iPhone 4S on November 16 and want to return it on December 19? Will they refund the phone without charging the ETF? Or will they refund the phone but charge you the $350 ETF?

If without damage, you return your phone and you will pay your bill, a $35 restocking fee and be on your merry way.

When I try to start this service I get 'error 1067 - The process terminated unexpectedly'. I have checked all dependencies of this particular service and they are all running properly. I've restarted these dependencies, disabled Kaspersky
protection, restarted the Server a few times to no avail.

I had all the same errors that AK772 mentioned, but I chose to zoom in on a different issue that the script pointed out. When I ran the "Test CA Infrastructure" step it found several errors. When I looked at what the script was doing there it was
comparing the server certificate thumbprint in the registry (HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows Server\Identity) with the personal certificates (Personal Certificates in the Certificate snap-in using MMC). When I looked through them individually, sure enough
the thumbprint in the registry didn't exist in my certificate store. I have NO idea how this could have happened!
However, from there, I changed my Google search criteria and found the following excellent article:

This told more about that error and showed how to regenerate the certificate identity in the registry. This totally saved me! Once I ran through the steps that he outlines, even though I got a timeout error towards the end, I could see that the certificate
thumbprint had changed in the registry and now existed in my personal certificate store.
Once I saw this, I tried going into services and manually starting the stopped "Windows Server Service Provider Registry" service. Sure enough it started right up, no error this time. Finally, I restarted the server so that all of the other dependent
services would come back up and re-ran the linked script above and everything was perfect.

Any way to avoid frequent panic: "IOGMD: not wired for the IODMACommand..."?

I've had a dual monitor set up on my Mac Pro "Early 2009" since it was delivered new.
The machine has two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120's adapters, each attached to identical Apple LCD Cinema Displays (1920x1200) via Displayport.
I've experienced a number of strange behaviours with this set up.
From new, I had random occasional blanking of one of the screens. Maybe once every week or two, lasting a few seconds, then the image comes back fine.
From 10.8.2 the machine would occasionally crash (panic), typically while I was using the broswer - and often whan scrolling or something that was clearly causing the GPU to be moving things around.
From 10.8.3 this seems to be *much* worse. This crash now happens at least once a day in normal operations.
I've pasted the dump below.
Is anyone else having similar problems? Is there anything I can do to alleviate this issue? It's really starting to interfere with my day-to-day use of the machine.

What is the wiring for the SHC68-68-EPM cable?

Can someone please verify for me that the wiring for the SHC68-68-EPM is sequential all the way across the connectors? It looks to me like pins 1 through 34 at the end with the 0.8 mm connector go to pins A1 through A34 at the .050 connector, (as AMP numbers them), and pins 35 through 68 go to B1 through B34. I just want to be absolutely sure before I lay out my printed circuit board. Thanks.

It appears that the pin mappings are the same on both sides (.050 and VHDCI)

This happens every time I reboot the server or logoff. It has no ill effect on the server itself except generating these event log errors I am using Sun One 6.1 SP 1 on a wondows 2003 server. I have to resolve this beofore I can go any furthur in my project. Any help? This error comes up for both the web servive and the admin service.

Thanks to a post I just discovered, I have solved this problem.
The JVM within Sun Web Server is accepting kill signals from Windows when users logoff. When the JVM dies, apparently the web server service just dies as well. It's a long story and I don't really care to understand it fully.
You can refer to the thread I found for the solution of passing the JVM a startup option to ignore these signals.

Or, you can just disable the JVM completely as I did. Though there is a checkbox for this for user-defined servers under the Java tab. I couldn't find where to do this for the admin server itself, so I commented out the line in magnus.conf that loads j2ee-plugin.dll.
We'll see if this causes any other problems, but so far so good.
